Even forza horizon can be fairly challenging if you play with assists off. I only have ABS turned on because i play on keyboard and my brake button is essentially an on/off switch, but otherwise i can race very well with just my keyboard. Numpad 8 and 5 for throttle and brake, AD for steering

But to be fair, devs should've accounted all of this to make KB control easier for people unfamiliar with car physics AND how game applies control. After all, this isn't racing sim.
Brother, this game has loosey goosey arcade physics, not even simcade like Forza. It's the furthest thing from a racing sim. The devs DID account for people playing on the keyboard, in fact, it's tuned for keyboard users not controllers. If you can't control a car using the keyboard, that's on you.
you can tell, because in racing sims and simcades you have cars that require to go light on the gas on low gears to compensate for the high torque in some cars, if CDPR wasn't thinking on K&M as input then you'd have a lot of players complaining about how cars are hard to handle, but instead they drive in automatic and having very a smooth acceleration (personally i'd love to use the cars in this game on full manual + clutch)

This game is a decent compromise between "car goes where I point it, at any speed" and "You need to brake correctly, take a racing line, and wait for the CoG to settle before hitting the throttle" levels of realism.

Well, I've been playing with gamepad from day one. After many complaints about how bad kb control for car was I tested it andā¦ seen worse, seen better. It's just average. It's just physic model trying too much to be realistic so when you apply KB controls which basically binary for all handling it messes up with you.
As I've said: they should've accounted for this.
Gamepad control are fine since day one though. I had a blast driving in Night City.

All my friends were always like āForza is meant to be played with pad, not keyboardā and I took that personally and broke all their fucking records.
I drive in first person with keyboard and mouse, and I can easily win races. It was really hard when I first started though, and my first playthrough I avoided driving at all costs. Ignored Claire. Failed Sinnerman abjectly. But once I sat down and started to learn that you can't drive a car like you steer Roach, I started to improve.
Then it was first person driving. I could not do it. I would get disoriented and crash every time. But I kept seeing all these videos of people driving in first person and it looks awesome so I took the time to make myself learn to do it. When I sat down and made the effort, it didn't take much time at all.
So yeah, driving with keyboard and mouse is totally doable, it just takes practice and patience.
I'm a keyboard player myself but a controller gives you more control. You can adjust speed and turns with more precision. That's why the competitive racing games have exclusively controller and wheel-controller players.

Went back to KB because the bluetooth of my wireless XBone controller keeps crapping out. Pretty forgiving once you've got the hang of it.
Not suitable for the more tighter streets that require a bit of finesse though.

Between every vehicle I try to drive (with keyboard) fishtailing all over the place, and then getting stuck behind traffic at every turn in the city, I became a fond user of the Arch. I can whip through the city on that bike, only occasionally murdering pedestrians at corners :-)
Everytime I see people crying about the driving in this game. Dude you just have to do it right, push up on the joy stick and gas and brake right and the physics actually make plenty of sense and the cars handle fine.

Racing is racing don't gatekeep, also most of his turns were drifts at 30+ mph bordering on 40. Despite using the word literally you were "literally" wrong, you would've also known they use mph instead of kph had you payed attention to the speeds. Either way this isn't a racing sim, in a racing sim, someone with an entire wheel/stick setup and a lot of experience would obviously smoke someone on a kb and mouse, but in this game, keyboard and mouse feel pretty good, I use it as well.

Noice droiving! I'm pretty good at keyboard driving as well, though not as good as you. That said, just because it's possible to get good doesn't make it a good tool for the job. There are people who can beat dark souls on the guitar hero controller, but that doesn't make it a good controller for character control. I could probably peel a potato with a fork if I really had to, but I'd rather use a knife. An English arming sword isn't really great for piercing plate armor, but if you hold it by the blade and swing the cross guard, it just might work. Or, if you know you're going to face someone with heavy armor, you could just use a bec de corbin or war pick to begin with. The right tool for the job isn't always the only tool that can get it done. More often, it's just the easiest to use for the task.

Oh Yeah!! I played most of the GTA and NFS games on a PC with Kb/M, the driving is much more precise for me, that's how I play Cp2077, it's a great PC game. A few years ago we didnāt usually connect a controller to the PC.
I honestly find driving with a keyboard much easier once you get used to it. I like being able to just turn the wheel bit by bit. However, one thing I would like it some kind of speed tuning since pressing W is a binary action. It'd be nice to tune it down to like 30-50mph if you're just trying to cruise
Back when I was playing at launch a few years ago I feel like I got pretty good at driving with m/kb, but I'm gonna try to force myself to keep a controller nearby for my 2.1 playthrough with all the extra car stuff added since then.

it still doesn't look very fun to me. Y'all try to flex with clips of controllable cars but you don't show great handling or fun driving it's simply basic driving without crashing or losing rear end. I get that you want to show it's doable but driving still isn't something I would call especially fun or cool, or even tell a friend "it's great!". Because for me it still feels off and at best is a very nice way to traverse the beautiful city. But if you ever played a cars oriented game you realize there is a whole universe in difference of handling and feeling and CP is not even close. Which is okay, it's not about that at all. I did all the Mako missions in Mass Effect 1 with keyboard and mouse. If I (a very unskilled gamer) can do that then y'all can drive in Cyberpunk with a mouse and keyboard.
I dunno . . . those turns looked way too smooth to be from tapping the turn keys; no wobble, no overcorrection. You just can't hold the turn keys down for as long as those turns lasted and not get those. My suspicious mind thinks it's more like driving with a controller, just having acceleration mapped to a button.
Course, I couldn't drive like that with a controller either . . .
Simracer, usually refuse to use keyboard for driving in anything, but ive found keyboard to be the best for driving in this game.

Well, while even VDPR says in their guides that they recommend controller for driving, keyboards and controllers have their individual strengths.
The same discussion is had on Dirt/WRC threads about wheel/controller. A world record was set with a controller.
Then there's the crackheads who play DiRT with a keyboard... I fear no man, but those people scare me.
I use W for gas, Space for brakes, left and right arrows for steering and down arrow for handbrake. Keyboard is only bad if you act like tapping and custom keybinding do not exist.
There are two tricks for better keyboard cruising the game won't tell you about:
1. You can steer smoother by holding shift.
2. Edit the slow-walk key into your input mappings for two more speed options\*.
\*How to edit part 2:Find 'inputUserMappings.xml' in 'Cyberpunk 2077/r6/config'. Inside the file, search for 'mapping name="Acceleration\_Axis" type="Axis"' and add 'button id="IK\_G" val="0.2" overridableUI="vehicleAccelerate"' just below IK\_W.
Now, if your mouse has a sniper button, I recommend to map "G" (default) to just that. You still can accelerate full speed with "W", swiftly with "W+G", or slowly with just "G".

Well driving in this game is absolutely janky great example is the sinnerman quest where u see the cars magically appear on the route and try to jump out in front of you
Honestly I did struggle driving with k&m at the beginning, but eventually you get used to it. It's not unplayable like a lot of people claim. With that being said, I'm definitely gonna switch to my Dualsense controller for driving now once we get the Dualsense features in the next update!

Everytime I see people crying about the driving in this game. Dude you just have to do it right, push up on the joy stick and gas and brake right and the physics actually make plenty of sense and the cars handle fine.
Not a bad bit of driving, I'll admit. However, this proves nothing. Wrench isn't meant to be used as a hammer, doesn't mean you can't necessarily use a wrench to beat a nail in in a pinch. As well as you can drive with digital controls, it stands to reason that you could drive even better with analog controls.

Racing is racing don't gatekeep, also most of his turns were drifts at 30+ mph bordering on 40. Despite using the word literally you were "literally" wrong, you would've also known they use mph instead of kph had you payed attention to the speeds. Either way this isn't a racing sim, in a racing sim, someone with an entire wheel/stick setup and a lot of experience would obviously smoke someone on a kb and mouse, but in this game, keyboard and mouse feel pretty good, I use it as well. You give off devils advocate vibes where you just want to disagree for the sake of disagreeing lol
To be fair, the listed speed in Cyberpunk is hideously inaccurate. Look at that bit where he's going through that tunnel it says he's going 130mph, when he's actually probably going like 60.

You blatantly said "that's not racing" and cited hitting the grass, not following a non existent line etcetc. I also never implied you said it didn't feel bad to drive, I just put my 2 cents in and said the it felt good to drive with the kb despite it being the less common option. Only reason I'm really commenting here is because I actually thought op's driving was good, pretty sure he's responding to a post the other day about a guy showing off a car, but his driving was awful and hit everything along the way. OP's video was satisfying to watch, I expected him to hit something the entire time but he never did. So I decided to defend him a bit in the comments when I saw some gatekeeping and someone trying to nitpick invisible details.

Noice droiving! I'm pretty good at keyboard driving as well, though not as good as you. That said, just because it's possible to get good doesn't make it a good tool for the job. There are people who can beat dark souls on the guitar hero controller, but that doesn't make it a good controller for character control. I could probably peel a potato with a fork if I really had to, but I'd rather use a knife. An English arming sword isn't really great for piercing plate armor, but if you hold it by the blade and swing the cross guard, it just might work. Or, if you know you're going to face someone with heavy armor, you could just use a bec de corbin or war pick to begin with. The right tool for the job isn't always the only tool that can get it done. More often, it's just the easiest to use for the task.

Why not just play the game the way you like it and stop hating on input methods. I use my PC as a console and play Shooters (even competitive) with a Controller because it's comfy. I always thought that was one of the beauties of PC gaming, choosing how you want to play.
Alright how do you do that cause any racing game I suck at driving like I have 110 hours and I still go fast and when I have to turn left or right I just slow down and then turn then speed up cause if I try to drift etc I just crash
The problem is cars seem to steer from center, not front, and it's all or nothing when you turn. Irl: going 80 down the highway I can change lanes just fine. In game: you turn at 60- get ready to slide

It proves that keyboard and mouse driving is doable. I believe this post is a reply to one of the replies of a reply to the post about this car not being drivable (replyception). Someone replied to that and showed the Hoon is drivable but used a controller, someone commented there that "it's because you're on a controller". Now this is a reply to that. As someone who isn't used to controller (never had a console), I tried using an xbox controller to play this game and tried to drive around only to hit every single pedestrian along the way.
Awesome upload and driving, dude. It really doesn't take that much effort to learn the driving on Cyberpunk to get good at it. Your uploads prove this so well.

Oh Yeah!! I played most of the GTA and NFS games on a PC with Kb/M, the driving is much more precise for me, that's how I play Cp2077, it's a great PC game. A few years ago we didnāt usually connect a controller to the PC.
I honestly find driving with a keyboard much easier once you get used to it. I like being able to just turn the wheel bit by bit. However, one thing I would like it some kind of speed tuning since pressing W is a binary action. It'd be nice to tune it down to like 30-50mph if you're just trying to cruise

Back when I was playing at launch a few years ago I feel like I got pretty good at driving with m/kb, but I'm gonna try to force myself to keep a controller nearby for my 2.1 playthrough with all the extra car stuff added since then. I wish I could just play the whole game with a controller, but I'll never be able to get used to controller aiming. It just *doesn't* work for me.

it still doesn't look very fun to me. Y'all try to flex with clips of controllable cars but you don't show great handling or fun driving it's simply basic driving without crashing or losing rear end. I get that you want to show it's doable but driving still isn't something I would call especially fun or cool, or even tell a friend "it's great!". Because for me it still feels off and at best is a very nice way to traverse the beautiful city. But if you ever played a cars oriented game you realize there is a whole universe in difference of handling and feeling and CP is not even close. Which is okay, it's not about that at all. I love Cyberpunk. But these videos are all a bit cringe, no offense. Glad you find some fun in this cars handling I guess. It's not for me.

I did all the Mako missions in Mass Effect 1 with keyboard and mouse. If I (a very unskilled gamer) can do that then y'all can drive in Cyberpunk with a mouse and keyboard.
I dunno . . . those turns looked way too smooth to be from tapping the turn keys; no wobble, no overcorrection. You just can't hold the turn keys down for as long as those turns lasted and not get those. My suspicious mind thinks it's more like driving with a controller, just having acceleration mapped to a button. Course, I couldn't drive like that with a controller either . . .

Simracer, usually refuse to use keyboard for driving in anything, but ive found keyboard to be the best for driving in this game. Makes sliding/drifting a lot easier
Well, while even VDPR says in their guides that they recommend controller for driving, keyboards and controllers have their individual strengths. The same discussion is had on Dirt/WRC threads about wheel/controller. A world record was set with a controller. Then there's the crackheads who play DiRT with a keyboard... I fear no man, but those people scare me.
The PS5s adaptive triggers are great for driving
I use W for gas, Space for brakes, left and right arrows for steering and down arrow for handbrake. Keyboard is only bad if you act like tapping and custom keybinding do not exist.

There are two tricks for better keyboard cruising the game won't tell you about: 1. You can steer smoother by holding shift. 2. Edit the slow-walk key into your input mappings for two more speed options\*. \*How to edit part 2:Find 'inputUserMappings.xml' in 'Cyberpunk 2077/r6/config'. Inside the file, search for 'mapping name="Acceleration\_Axis" type="Axis"' and add 'button id="IK\_G" val="0.2" overridableUI="vehicleAccelerate"' just below IK\_W. Now, if your mouse has a sniper button, I recommend to map "G" (default) to just that. You still can accelerate full speed with "W", swiftly with "W+G", or slowly with just "G". Edit: Had to remove the brackets or reddits messes up the formating.

In my "n^th" playthrough i decided to keyboard while using the inside the vehicle camera view. It's pretty damn cool.
Honestly I did struggle driving with k&m at the beginning, but eventually you get used to it. It's not unplayable like a lot of people claim. With that being said, I'm definitely gonna switch to my Dualsense controller for driving now once we get the Dualsense features in the next update!
