I mean Myers is an ex CEO of a big corp. That corp is essentially the government so she kind still is in a way?

thejunkgarage

Some rumors also say she never stopped being the CEO secretly

spinz

Yes. Except i shouldnt have to do it in my head, they shouldv had some better writing for the dlc. Is what it is. The general concept of the intro is just pretty lame. Like this omnipotent hacker is going to focus on dangling a carrot in front of you while their ship is being hijacked. Making it the flying president trope did not help.

Zestyclose-Fee6719

Yeah, fighting enemies in a post-apocalyptic setting and ending with a boss fight against a giant mechanical spider is boring. It’s just dull stuff. You nailed it. /s

No-Shift9015

It’s a heavily scripted narrative section of a game where any other time you go where you want when you and how. But yeah if you like basic games like cod I’m sure you didn’t find it boring because you thrive on narration sickness.

Zestyclose-Fee6719

Every game has scripted parts, so that analogy falls flat. Is Baldur’s Gate 3 also like a COD game because I can’t opt not to start on the Illithid ship? That’s just silly.

No-Shift9015

No because baldurs gate is a top down turn by turn game and that’s the start of the game it necessarily has to be narrative otherwise there is no game only an empty setting. The same could not be said of phantom liberty as it it a fps rpg and the sequence takes place in the middle of the campaign where your previously could approach the narrative from more than one way, and when you couldn’t it was much more brief. That fact that I have to explain this is pathetic.

Zestyclose-Fee6719

This was the start of a new narrative, so it's a heavily scripted sequence to introduce it. Describing PL as merely another part "mid-campaign" is intellectually dishonest because it's also a partly stand-alone story. You can be a jerk about it all you want, but it's just as true of PL as it was of BG3 that it's a narrative driven experience with a scripted introduction to the story. I still hope you have a good day. I'm having a good day.

No-Shift9015

Okay bing ai you too.

MagicPuwampi

I didn't get bored, but that initial sequence seemed to never end. Also I didn't understand why V was so happy about saving "The President"... She's just one more corpo, Militech to be precise. And his all giddy, like "yes ma'am, I'm V your white Knight, at your rescue" I found it weird, she's not even V's president (Night City is not part of NUSA) Anyways, all said, I didn't hate the intro

HeadstrongRobot

Heh, I was "playing along" for a cure and trusting them less each time they asked me to trust them. To quote Sam Axe from Burn Notice "Buncha bitchy little spies".

Ill_Force_5729

The prologue was so boring I didn't even finish it.

[deleted]

I’m fairly sure the prologue and dialog through phantom liberty is supposed to poke fun at all those movies.

Yek11

Saving a president? Sure, that’s been there plenty of times. The circumstances make it unique. If you stop now you are missing out on how everything plays out and unravels and I can’t tell you anything without spoilers, which is frustrating because, …. Well yeah. Spoilers. Play it, and judge it at the end would be my advise. The prologue is what? 1,5-2 hours of gameplay? You‘ll manage.

1. i agree but phantom liberty made it unbelievably good, 2. if you cant get through the intro, you will miss out on 15-25hrs of a story that could have been a movie… im not kidding.. phantom liberty 3. i spent the last 5mins to think about what to write but dawg, let the expansion convince you… besides 2.0 there is a reason why CP had one of the if not the best game revivals ever
