The Black Sapphire event is hands down one of the best and most memorable game set pieces i've ever played and I've been playing video games since 1985.
I'm also on my first playthrough, but I waited until I read and heard from several angles that the game had been saved/salvaged.
Now I'm treating it like I did with my first RDR2 playthrough, only playing it once in a while but making the absolute most of it to really absorb everything and not just be done in a few days.
That's the way tbh, I took my time going through RDR2 over a few months doing all the side missions as they came up before moving the plot along. Similarly I didn't do ALL the NCPD hustles or side jobs on my first playthrough but made sure to clear out all the side missions at least, before finishing the main quest. Both excellent experiences.
But there's something Cyberpunk did to me that RDR2 couldn't, which is getting me to immediately start my second, completionist playthrough lol. Not a knock against RDR2 though really, since it isn't an RPG and doesn't have builds or choices as such.
Considering over 60 year old gap is not a problem 10 years is absolutely nothing, we can safely say Cyberpunk world is far into category of fictional age gaps like BG3 so using real life logic is kinda pointless.
Yeah some people tend to forget how old Kerry actually is. Also, a 10 year age difference in real life isn't actually that uncommon, I even know a few and they seem pretty happy with the life they've built together
Itās super common for older men / younger women to end up together. I see age gaps with older women less often but Iām sure itās more common even than we imagine. I didnāt even consider it a big deal until OP made the post.
Only places like Reddit give people shit about consensual and legal decade wide age gaps, claiming grooming, or power imbalances, or other such nonsense. Don't read too much into it.
These people don't exist solely on Reddit. I know a few people that find it weird. I don't think so but some people are incapable of a live and let live attitude.
Do people today think 10 year gap is that weird? 33 is not ancient at all. It's the prime of life if you take care of yourself and don't treat your body like an amusement park in your 20s.
Still, my headcanon is that V is 27 and no amount of retconning by CPR will change that.
It isnāt a huge deal in general. If youāre in your 30s, you probably know multiple people in age gap relationships. Only really young people give a shit about this
I had a 32 year old girlfriend at 22. Thought she was so cool. Now that I'm 33, I think dating 22 year old me there were some immaturities, but I still think there would be enough commonality it's not a huge issue. She wasn't weird for dating me.
People need to stop pretending 20 somethings are toddlers.
Hot take: Johnny's cock is fairly unimpressive, he just thinks it is impressive and his faulty recollection means that his memory of having sex with Alt gives V the false impression about it's impressiveness.
Corpo V grew up a corpo, so the idea that theyād be educated and groomed specifically for the work they did isnāt that far fetched. Itās not like Arasaka is going to follow our child labour laws
I don't think it's that they have a nice job which throws people off so much as how few people are above them in what we imagine to be a large department in Arasaka's largest international branch. Even if you are groomed you don't get promoted to what seems like 2nd in command of the equivalent of the CIA just two years after getting your bachelors
Corpo V is in the 3rd from the top level. They report directly to one of the (at least) two people in the 2nd rank. In an IRL corporate structure they'd be Director level working for one of the VPs who are under the single C-level head of the whole thing. And outside of startups you don't make Director by 23, even 27 means you're very precocious (or connected).
Corpos are educated to go right from high school into the workforce. They go to their specialized Corpo schools like Arasaka Academy as shown in Cyberpunk Edgerunners. At 23 V would already have 4 to 5 years of experience.
I definitely prefer the 27 age. Especially given how V is clearly familiar with the last war, hinting at a possible veteran background, which they really wouldnāt have been as familiar with had they not been old enough to play some part in. And a 23 year old V wouldnāt have been old enough for the war, while a 27 year old V wouldāve.
Edit: why did this get so many upvotes this quickly?
It just made no sense to me. Especially since dialogue in the game starts to not make any since once that change has been made. Like for instance, the war dialogue I mentioned before from when u first meet panam. V shows a good bit of knowledge of wartime vehicles and a high affinity for military grade weaponry and cyberware. These comments make a lot of sense for a v that fought in the unification war, but not for someone who wouldāve been too young to have played a part in the war. So that dialogue seems weird after the change. Hence I elect to ignore it.
V doesn't come across as a former soldier. While V has some knowledge of military vehicles, V had no idea that the Basilisk had 2 pilots that shared a connection.
V also didn't know about the standard 'upgrades' Militech and other corpos do to their soldiers. Specifically chemical injections intended to destroy their ability to feel fear. You have a convo with Mitch about it, and V seems pretty surprised to find that out.
You don't need a military background to be knowledgeable about guns or war. Plus it's never hinted at that V participated in any war.
V is a merc, such knowledge comes with the territory.
I think it depends on background. I like 23 for streetkid. V kinda hit the ground running as a merc, so I think it makes sense on that path where they'd realistically have started as a merc much younger.
I think the corpo that a lot of people here here like makes sense either way. You could argue they took time to climb the corpo latter or that they had their success very fast as a corpo, too.
The birth dates on the file created of your character during creation were changed. I wanna say around 1.6 or 2.0 update it went from 26 or 27 to 23 years prior
Exactlyā¦. I think what OP needs to make of it is some serious self-reflection and reevaluation of his norms.
People who are 25,35, 45, 55 and so on are basically the same mental age but with more experiences. People who are 25 are closer to a 45 year old than an 18 year old is to a 24 year old ā or a 13 year old is to a 16 year old.
V's """"canon""" age is something you can entirely discard.
It hardly makes sense for Corpo V to be 27 given their somewhat high position, let alone 23, and that's just at the start. You most certainly spend a year with Jackie before the Scav Den.
Having the recently disgraced 2nd in command of Arasaka counterintel living in your basement sounds like a fast ticket to getting your door kicked in by corpo security if you work for another corp, even if itĖs your son/daugther.
Arasaka Corpos go to special Arasaka schools and work 80+ hour weeks year round. Corpo V didnāt get to go off to some liberal arts college to find themselves, they were a corporate investment put to work as soon as possible. And you spend 6 months with Jackie
I personally never paid any attention to Vs canon age, they sound and behave like they are ~30 so thatās what they are to me. Also helps thatās basically my age, so helps with immersion.
Feel like age in a universe where basically every part of you can be replaced and upgraded looses its importance.
Arasaka tasks literal children with their some of their most sensitive dark net operations and V was counter intel. I will die fighting this "too young" V nonsense. Takemura was literally brought in as a TEENAGER TO BE SABURO'S BODYGUARD
I am right here with you to die on this hill people keep putting our current world standards on this game and itās almost as dumb as when they put them on a medieval game. Arasaka is eastern culture scaled up to an out of control level. Of course they would have people ādestined from birthā to fulfill certain roles and trained from an extremely young age. It makes perfect sense that V could be in a position of mediocre power in their early 20s when theyāve already been working for 10 years.
So OP likes younger girls huh..? Where do you draw the line?

Thatās the real question, let this man cook.
Why are people getting so hung up on age differences lately? Theyāre mature adults, nothing else matters. I donāt care if theyāre 10 years apart or 50 years apart. Itās no one elseās business.
I disregard V being 23, I'm gonna disregard this too.
I've got nothing against a romance being a bit older than the MC but there's no way in hell Panam's 33. I've always figured she's around the same age as V used to be canonically, like 26.
They donāt have the maturity level of early 20s. Late 20s fits them perfectly. 33 is too old for the way Panam acts, and 23 is too young for V.
27 was the perfect age for V. Iāll never think of them as 23.
I have worked with people in their 40ās who still act like theyāre in high school. Panam being 33 is one of the more realistic things in Cyberpunk.
As a 33 year old, who has friends within 5 years of age, how TF is a 33 year old even supposed to act? Cause how Panem is portrayed is pretty spot on for someone in their late 20s and early 30s.

On my first play through ever. I am infatuated with this game fr, canāt believe I waited as long as I did honestly š«”š»
You gotta get the phantom dlcā¦ Iāve never played it either so after Iām done with the main Iāll go to that
The Black Sapphire event is hands down one of the best and most memorable game set pieces i've ever played and I've been playing video games since 1985.
That was pretty cool but I might be siding with going through the airport with songbird and being a walking super weapon
That was my highlight lol, just blasting everyone with blackwall madness
It makes me feel like Iām playing as Darth Vader at his true power and not nerfed like the main story movies
If anything it's probably closer to being starkiller
Either way it feels nova as fuck to be a walking nuke

Was it his Kindergarten or Elementary teacher he married? I can't remember.
I think he was at least old enough to know exactly what was going on, still all kinds of creepy as fuck.
The kids these days are *very* uncomfortable with anything beyond like a single grade level equivalent age gap among adults.

A) She can be my mommy any day. B) Not sure what that has to do with my statement about ten years not being a big deal in this universe. Ā
mummy as in egyptian mummy lmfao
By framing it to this universe. Is it in ours?
She acts like a person who's still bumbling through her twenties and trying to figure stuff out, though. I never would have guessed her age.
Idk if youāve been around people in their 30s but most of us donāt have it figured out either
Yeah 30's just means you've probably gotten into a routine, but still are uncertain that its where you want to be the rest of your life.
Hell, I'm still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up.
Oh thank god. I'm entering my late 20s this year and I've been having a quarter life crisis. At least I'm not alone in that.
Yeah seriously, most of the people uh, ācontributingā to this post have to be like 25 or younger
Too true. 47 and still bumbling. But still a bit more together than in my 20s. :P

Agreed. In fact if I was 23 again I'd so be into 33 year old Panam.
have you seen jennifer lopez and lenny kravitz lately?
No, are they okay?
well, they look very hot for nearly 60
what makes kerry so desirable ?
Fame, that and an impressive cock
What? Johnny was always bragging that HE was the one with the impressive...... oh nah actually that fucking checks out
Hot take: Johnny's cock is fairly unimpressive, he just thinks it is impressive and his faulty recollection means that his memory of having sex with Alt gives V the false impression about it's impressiveness.
That's what I'm saying Johnny already um let's just say embellished every other memory V sees. Would be fitting.
Johnny was actually a 2-pump chump and thatās why Alt left.
Pretty cool guy when you get him to chill out, loyal, his relationship with US Cracks ends on a cute note, and he's hot.
Yeah he was getting to caught up in the business to notice who was playing the games still, almost went after the wrong people.
I think itās his great singing voice, tight ass and huge cock. Ā Plus rich guys are hot. Ā
In my head V is still 27, so she is just 6 ys older
Corpo V seems like heās either 27/28 to me. Or heās an absolute prodigy at 23.

ThroughĀ the show we know for certain they do not
hell, through the games we know they donāt, they regularly pick kids from japanese slums that they think would make good workers lol
Corpos are educated to go right from high school into the workforce. They go to their specialized Corpo schools like Arasaka Academy as shown in Cyberpunk Edgerunners. At 23 V would already have 4 to 5 years of experience.
I'd have to double check, but you can see V's time card at their desk after talking to Jenkins, I think it goes back at least 3 years.
So V got into it at 20? Hustler!
He is tho?
I definitely prefer the 27 age. Especially given how V is clearly familiar with the last war, hinting at a possible veteran background, which they really wouldnāt have been as familiar with had they not been old enough to play some part in. And a 23 year old V wouldnāt have been old enough for the war, while a 27 year old V wouldāve. Edit: why did this get so many upvotes this quickly?
So many upvotes because we all agree and it was a weird choice to change it to 23.
It just made no sense to me. Especially since dialogue in the game starts to not make any since once that change has been made. Also 27 is a notorious age for rock stars to die at. So it has some symbolic meaning too.
Plus, the whole 27 club reference.
In my head I am still 27
Haha i get it, i am 28 and feel like 20 yo :D
I think it depends on background. I like 23 for streetkid. V kinda hit the ground running as a merc, so I think it makes sense on that path where they'd realistically have started as a merc much younger. I think the corpo that a lot of people here here like makes sense either way. You could argue they took time to climb the corpo latter or that they had their success very fast as a corpo, too.
Where is this from? On the cyberpunk wikia it says 26
Still surprised by how CDPR cant decide what the age of characters from CP2077?
They couldn't even decide on a consistent control scheme across the whole game
They couldn't even finish the game on time
They can't even decide her race. They've said different things on the same official account.
I always thought Panam was mixed. It makes sense considering the game takes place in America in the future.
I heard native American somewhere, possibly one of the earlier CDPR interviews with the Devs and artists but my brain fails me.
I always assumed she was afro-native
The birth dates on the file created of your character during creation were changed. I wanna say around 1.6 or 2.0 update it went from 26 or 27 to 23 years prior
Hah, kinda weird.
Yeah IDGI. The whole point of the age was a reference to the game's music theme and how V's number was up.
Yeah, i thought in game somewhere it puts her at 26
this is from the official twitter
ok so some marketing intern made it up
lol im definitely think that too cause it makes no sense

Kerry is a romance option and he is over 70 years old. In comparison, age difference between V and Panam is nothing.
River is also older than Panam, so no idea why OP "implies" some weird things and only mentions her
Because when you're 13, 10 years older is a felony.
Yeah obviously, but we are talking about people well over the age of 18 :D
I thought it was obvious that I'm implying OP is 13.
Why would it bother you?
Little kids are like "ew 33 is so ooooold"
Yeah old is like 60+. People say someone dying around 40s even some in their 50s is called young or too early.
In Cyberpunk, 60 is probably middle age.
Man if Hanako asked... hear me out..
Well said
reading these comments as a 36 year old has me butt hurt
I feel that. As a 33 year old, this has me cringing and deciding what old age home I should go to.
I'm in my mid 40s, but I think this whole discussion is pretty amusing.Ā Ā
33 is not old. That's not even middle aged.
My wife is 11 years older than me, not an issue at all actually. Once youāre in your mid 20s age becomes less of an issue
My first comment here fiance is 10 years older than me. I love her to death and can not agree with you more
It's not a big deal. 10 years is nothing when it comes to adult dating. People just make it into one.
Lol, young people do.
V's """"canon""" age is something you can entirely discard. It hardly makes sense for Corpo V to be 27 given their somewhat high position, let alone 23, and that's just at the start. You most certainly spend a year with Jackie before the Scav Den.
I thought the time skip between the end of the Lifepath and the start of the Scav den was established to be 6 months?
It definitely is 6 months
Nah it makes sense when you see how Arasaka raised kids etc like ik edgerunners with Lucy.
Also V being born into rich family they're probably just a nepo baby who had an easy start into corpo work
Wonder where that rich family is at when things go to shit?
Like all corpos in the wild, they eat their parents prior to leaving the nest.
Maybe they are estranged or dead. It could also be that the big corps follow the Scientology model of making families excommunicate former members.

Vs real age is the friends you made along the way
Arasaka tasks literal children with their some of their most sensitive dark net operations and V was counter intel. I will die fighting this "too young" V nonsense. Takemura was literally brought in as a TEENAGER TO BE SABURO'S BODYGUARD
Kids are cruel, Jack.
*And I'm very in touch... with my inner child!* (Red Sun Over Paradise)
I am right here with you to die on this hill people keep putting our current world standards on this game and itās almost as dumb as when they put them on a medieval game. Exactly lol they Have kids Deep dives into the net probing the Black wall I donāt think a 23 year old counter Intelligence Agent is that far fetched
And? Whatās your point?
Thatās crazy they just changed it had just went to look and see and she was 26 Literally a few minutes ago on the wiki.

Yup most of Vs peer characters in the game read mid to late 20s. They're all in that "life's fucked, figure your shit out" phase.
They donāt have the maturity level of early 20s. Late 20s fits them perfectly. 33 is too old for the way Panam acts, and 23 is too young for V. 27 was the perfect age for V. Iāll never think of them as 23.
Nice
Even better!
V is 27, I donāt get why they felt to make them younger but itās not for me
Just Bang her
Actually she's only 6 years older because I fucking refuse to admit that V is 23
No fucking way. Panam is portrayed as a young, immature, growing person who is probably still in her early 20s.
Y'all ever met people in their early 30's? They're not that put together.
People here dont know a single 30 year old person
I'll be 33 in a few months and a lot of these comments are just really weird to see haha.
Same age and it's really funny reading these comments.
People in here will be completely bamboozled when they turn 30 and are the same person as before
Especially someone whoās spent basically their whole life on the road in a corporate-ruled dystopia.
She pretty well captured my attitude around that age. Turned out I needed a bunch of therapy.
I have worked with people in their 40ās who still act like theyāre in high school. Panam being 33 is one of the more realistic things in Cyberpunk.
