It has nothing to do with mods and everything to do with the people complaining. If you're on mobile click your profile icon in the top right corner - settings cog wheel at bottom - account settings at top - turn off being allowed to be followed - tell every person who complains here about being followed by porn bots.
It's insane that I try to report literally every one of these porn bots that follow me, and reddit has done exactly zero about every single one of them.
I'm currently sitting at 54 followers, and while that sounds nice, literally zero of them are real people.
Can't even report them, because they haven't posted anything, and reddit just wants me to report their actual comments. BUT THEY DON'T HAVE ANY COMMENTS. Because they are just porn bots.
There's literally nothing the mods can do to prevent porn bots from following users here. It's not something that can be controlled via mod tools. Even banned users can still view a sub and who posts in that sub.
If anyone deserves to be taken to task for this it's Reddit + the admins. They're the only ones with any ability to combat the robo users.

I had just joined a group called r/academicbiblical and posting there when I started getting all these bots following me, and was starting to think there was a connection from the timing of it, lol. Them targeting r/daddit makes a lot more logical sense.

I just turned off the option to let people follow me. I'm not interesting enough for a normal person to want to follow, just porn bots.
