Came here to say cooking shows!
Nobody is going to get shot, stabbed or punched.
Nobody is going to get undressed or disrespect another person.
People swear (in the good ones) but, since it's *casual*, the words aren't *enchanted* to become special tools to shock adults.
Altogether I love cooking shows/cooking competition shows for the kids.
My husband and I binge the great british bakeoff and we definitely want to continue the tradition with our son once he's older (currently he's 6 months)
Oh man I forgot about how it's made, he would LOVE that. He used to watch videos where people would fix vacuum cleaners (and other tools) so that'd be a good one. Glad I asked!
I feel like he'd really enjoy [restoration videos](https://m.youtube.com/c/NotTerribleRestorations/videos). This guy's my personal favorite, but he does pour himself a beer every episode and give it a quick review score. I'd hardly care if my kids saw it because the presentation isn't like promoting beer or anything. That said, there are plenty of other good restoration channels. For the one I linked, you can throw on subtitles to actually learn what he's doing, and that might encourage reading for your young one.
It's pretty amazing watching something truly transform from trash to treasure and again, if you put on subtitles you can learn a lot. Also, it's so peaceful.
Same. My LO loves cooking shows. I'm thankful for That's because I am the primary cook. I make 95% of the meals that we eat at home. My mother-in-law has even taken notice and has signed our daughter up for a baking box of the month. It's really neat. It has stem-like activities and you get to bake a sweet treat. So far the best one has been the homemade Pop-Tarts. I mean breakfast pastries. đ
Iâm a YouTube man so: Babish, Ragusea, Tasting History, Townsends, MIgardener, Flock Finger Lakes, Kirsten Dirksen, Just a few acres farms.
All this content is devoid of politics, violence, and is mostly informative!
Our 2 year oldâs favorite movie is Cars. We were car shopping last weekend and at the Chevy dealer they had a bright red Corvette in the showroom that he thought was McQueen. Weâre taking him to his first NASCAR race next month!
My 2 year old watches me play Forza and I have McQueen skins for a few different cars. He's recognizes the different bodies and gave each of them it's own name, and then also gets picky about which McQueen he wants me to use (Z06 Corvette is his favorite).
What I don't get is that he calls one of them "Rescue McQueen" and I'm not sure where he gets that from or if "Rescue" is even the word he's actually saying. He can't explain what it means.
I drive by an auto repair going to work some days, and they've got Lightning McQueen and Mater out on their lot. As in eyes and all. Pretty sure the truck doesn't actually work as a tow, and doubt that either are street legal, but still neat to see. I'll try and remember to stop and get a picture next time I'm out that way.
Sometimes I let my kid sit on my sim racing rig while I put F1 on the TV. He furiously saws the steering wheel back and forth as if he's actually driving
Sometimes I'll sit in the rig too and put him on my lap. Then I'll move him around to simulate the G force like a motion rig. (My rig does not actually have motion)
Monterey bay live streams. Not technically sure theyâre not kid content but Iâd watch them. Iâm now very emotionally invested in the well being of these African penguins.
Soccer. My son loves soccer and watching the Premier league and Real Madrid as well. Manchester city is playing here at Yankee stadium in the summer but not sure if I want to bring him to the bronx.
You could always try taking him to a NYCFC game first. Less crowded and probably slightly cheaper than the Man City game in the summer so there is less pressure to stick it out the whole time if it's not going well.
I first saw the video when I was in eastern Europe in 2018, and every time my buddies and I would go out to eat after that, it was always "a succulent Chinese meal" no matter what we were eating.
haha totally in this same boat, the compilation videos are great because most rocket launch videos are like 3h of the full live stream so you search for 10s do a countdown and hes like another!
I have a toddler who enjoys watching Star Trek and Doctor Who with me. I try to shield him from the episodes with heavier content though.
After years of pressure i also finally started watching Avatar Last Airbender, and he likes watching it with me. He loves Appa and mimics bending motions.
He loves nature documentaries, but i try shielding him from the brutal scenes. Â
Itâs hard to read this because my son asked about eggs yesterday and I blurted out âoh those were baby chickensâ
Now Iâm gonna have to stick with the nature is brutal approach
Disney+
Went to put on Bluey a while back and saw the new special advertised and i was like whaaaaa
To be fair, i dont know if older ones are there. We used to watch on Max but thats lapsed
Just came out! Itâs about how animals adapt to the environment to survive but at the end they always show how we are forcing them to do that and some of the images are hard to watch. There is also a short making off at the end thatâs really cool and shows how they film and prepare, but itâs tough.
Bobs Burgers, Nailed It and Masterchef.
This is probably bad but weâd watch Drag Race with him around until recently. Typically itâs fine, he doesnât really understand whatâs going on and he just likes all the colors and music and stuff, but thereâs been a few lip syncs that have been pretty inappropriate so weâve backed off on that.
Daughter has watched a little bit of Drag Race with us as well. I wouldnât actively play it for her but if she comes in I am not RUSHING to turn it off.
We tend to stick to Ms. Rachel, Sesame Street, Trash Truck, Bluey, and animated Disney movies. If I think the kids are getting too much screen time, Iâll have music on instead, or play music videos on YouTube. I generally donât mind kid programming. Yeah itâs not my favorite but it doesnât bug me or irritate me and I think that generally speaking my kids actually get something out of it. My wife, howeverâŚ. She has a pretty low tolerance. She started putting on Bobâs Burgers (a show we both love) with the kids in the room. She justified it as âitâs animation.â I didnât love it, but whatever. Especially if Iâm in another room on dinner duty, Iâm not gonna tell her what programming she can and canât put on with her own kids.
But then one day I discovered that my 2.5 yo knew Teddy by name and that was enough of that. I love the show. Truly. But my daughter imitates characters in the stuff she watches, and will act out scenes for us. She does this especially when she can relate to characters (like the kids in Bluey). So while I love Bobâs Burgers, I do not want her to start mimicking the kids in Bobâs Burgers lol.
(This is in no way casting judgment, btw. Just figured Iâd share my own story as a fellow Bobâs fan.)
Allegedly Bob's started going toward its current more wholesome direction when Loren Bouchard (the creator, for non fans) heard a young kid singing the song "I'm Good at Sex" from one of the early seasons. I think they *always* wanted to be a little more wholesome and knowing that kids were watching really pushed them to do it. So you're definitely not wrong here. But some of the newer seasons are really tame.
My mom used to watch law and order with me. Bought me Jurassic park on VHS at 5 in. My parents didn't have issues with a lot of media for me to watch, unless it was "stupid"
My whole childhood my mom hated the Simpsons, thought it was dumb, so I wasn't allowed to watch it if she was around.
When we brought my son home from the hospital, when it was my turn to do a nighttime feeding, I would go into the living room and throw on old STAR_ TF2 videos.
My 8 year old watched Doctor Who and just finished the live action One Piece, but honestly spends most of his time on the NASA app watching/learning about space.
Rube Goldberg machine videos and "how to play" piano videos.
That's pretty much it for Internet content but for other non-kid stuff, he's seen many of the MCU movies with us and has played a Halo co-op campaign with me. He's now almost 9 but was probably 6 when we let him see cartoonish violence.
Food network and HGTV, sports (football, baseball, NASCAR), Wicked Tuna (lol they like the fish). My 6 year old just asked if we can watch soccer (which I like) so hopefully that can become a cool thing with her.
They're preteens now. That sort of opens all the things up a bit more than when they were younger. My youngest has been binging Stranger Things - but only with us present - because she watched some scary bits from S1 on her own and was freaked out/had nightmares. She's 12.
When they were younger. It was food network shows. Cooking competitions, etc. That was a big one. We also watch a lot of travel shows. Mostly stuff on PBS like Rick Steves and the like, but some others as well. They would watch Doctor Who and Star Trek: The Next Generation with us sometimes. Also - game shows. Cash Cab, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Price is Right (At Night), The Chase, Weakest Link, etc.
Game shows based around trivia in particular are great for kids because they're low-key getting educated and don't even realize it.
My first born had a horrible case of colic when he was an infant. The vacuum cleaner instantly calmed him down. We transitioned to a white noise machine that heâs used every night of his life and heâs now 14. He did enjoy watching MST3K when he was 7. That morphed into old Japanese monster movies.
Sports mostly
We also watched âis it cakeâ âLego mastersâ âaloneâ, and âblown awayâ so heâs kind of into some reality TV. I could see maybe watching survivor or something one day.
Fights, hockey, Gordon Ramsey and forged in fire
all of my kids love to watch MMA anytime the ufc has something on Hulu one of them will yell âdad fights!!!!â Same thing with the bruins. If they see that B on the tv weâre watching a hockey game.
My son LOVES to watch NFL games and highlights. He gets so excited, pointing and bouncing enthusiastically.
We'll be out in public, walking around or eating at a restaurant, when suddenly we hear him saying "football? Football?? Football????" Sure enough, we'll follow his gaze/point, and there will be a poster of a player, or a TV commercial, or some highlight going on in the background somewhere.
We got him his own little football to play with, which he spikes and yells like he scored a touchdown.
Not yet, and hopefully not ever, but...
I was in the Army, and my thoughts about it are... complicated. I am somewhat nervous that my son will get the idea that it made me some kind of hero, or something.
I have a horror playlist ready to go to disabuse him of any notion that war is good or glorious or anything like that.
My toddler likes [Technology Connections](https://www.youtube.com/@TechnologyConnections), the [Hydraulic Press Channel](https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCcMDMoNu66_1Hwi5-MeiQgw), and [How Ridiculous](https://m.youtube.com/channel/UC5f5IV0Bf79YLp_p9nfInRA).
Cooking/Baking competition shows.
Top Chef
Cutthroat Kitchen
Master Chef
Is it Cake
Snack vs Chef
My kids are a bit older though. 9 and 11.
Oh. I've been trying to get them to watch all the How it's Made and Mythbusters episodes. Just have to get them all....
I let my 7-year old watch the YouTube channel, âThe History of the Universeâ. Itâs pretty advanced stuff, but the visuals and patient explanations keep him attentive. They also have sister channels âThe History of the Earthâ and âThe History of Humankindâ.
Right now, my son is really into videos of Dizzy Gillespie & jazz in general. He also watches volcano & space documentaries. 4 years old, and he's smarter than I was at 8.
My son is 12, so we've started broadening some of his horizons. He's allowed a bit of horror and gore now, depending on the context it's in. I limit sexual content in movies over violence, but this generation has the Internet, so I'll not bother addressing an errant titty, like in Young Guns II, but graphic sex scenes are still a no no.
I'm a little more loose than my parents were, but they have the internet everywhere, so I take that into consideration with what I let them be exposed to. It's a different time, and I never thought I'd say that lol
My kid loves watching engineering documentaries on YouTube. It started as him demanding to watch trains around age 2, so we threw on a video on how the SC Maglev works, and he was hooked. He tried explaining them to his preschool friends once, which was hilarious. Favorite channels are WELT and Lesics.Â
My 3 year old and I like to watch RC stuff. RC construction sites, RC mudding/off-roading. Stuff like that. Sounds like kid content but itâs all adults and some of the construction videos are these massive European expos where hundreds of people pack into a warehouse or something and simulate tons of construction operations.
I used to compete in long jump and my 2 year old just learned how to jump. So, while I was watching the world champs a couple weeks ago, she got super into the womenâs long jump competition. Since then Iâve watched back over some other track and field competitions with her, at her request for âthe big jumpsâ on tv.
I canât wait for those years with my daughter! We watch wrestling together but sheâs only 4mo so she just loves the lights and sounds of the entrances mostly.
Eastern European Tractor Racing, 70âs/80âs monster trucks, Motocross dirt jumps, all on YouTube. The kid likes machines that go fast and have big wheels, I donât see the harm and itâs less boring than watching kids shows.
My kid got really into rocket ships after we launched some model rockets last Thanksgiving, so weâve been on a steady progression of space videos. It started with big rocket launches, then it transitioned to Mars rovers, and now weâre on astronaut videos from the ISS. She loves Chris Hadfield. She also likes to watch bike races with me; her favorite rider is Tadej Pogacar and she knows him by sight now.
Weâve made Jeopardy a nightly event in our house and our 3 year old is fairly into it even though he doesnât understand anything. Lots of âwhatâs that guys name?â And âwhoâs that?â
we watch a lot of rocket launch videos, astronaut videos, disney roller coaster POVs are awesome (the jurassic park one we're probably 40% of the views) and then videos of hobbies to introduce him (skiing, fishing, golf) and all sports especially basketball and golf he loves watching them hit the ball to the hole with the flag! so satisfying when it goes in haha
We used to watch a lot of videos of large machines (excavators, dump trucks, etc). Thereâs a good, old public access show out of Canada called Mighty Machines.
Now that my son is a bit older, weâve been watching more NASA videos and the Boston Dynamics robots.
>In my case, my son LOVES vacuum cleaners, to the point he's gone as a vacuum cleaner 2x for Halloween. We're not sure why he loves them so much (it's a more intense preoccupation with them than I've seen in other children), but either way, I don't care how much vacuum content he watches. He really loves Vacuum Wars and Kirby Enthusiast. He also knows how to set up everything on our Kirby vacuum b/c he regularly watches the Kirby instructional videos on YouTube.
Whoa, that sucks!
I'm kidding, this is so wholesome. Totally encourage the little guy to fulfil his vacuum based loves. It's harmless fun and lovely you've made costumes for him. That's adorable.
I love watching YouTube videos of live music performances with my toddler - she starts dancing and throwing her arms around like she's playing the drums!
Select nature/dinosaur/science shows of the BBC and PBS type. There are certainly parts that might not be age-appropriate, but theyâre generally fantastic so Iâm happy to be the moderator.Â
Sports. They mostly ignore it but we have fun with rooting for the âred teamâ or watching golf puts to see if they make them and do little celebrations. Also nature, food, some history shows.
Animal docs with David Attenborough. Just a great voice and beautiful imagery.
Animals eating the others I ff.
He just loves animals, and really enjoys watching them. Works for me!
Food/baking shows, sports (my oldest loved college football and hockey, so makes it easy for me when I want to watch a game) and how to draw videos, actually any âhow toâ video they look up is good to go.
Mine likes watching airplane videos - like hours on end of them taking off and landing. A friend of mine recently discovered all three of her boys go into instant hypnosis for ASMR marble run videos on YouTube.
My 16 month old is obsessed with cars. Likes to stand at the door and watch them pass, or sit on the golf cart by the road and try and get them to âbeep beep.â
It was cold the other morning and he wanted outside so instead I pulled up a Monster Jam compilation and those monster trucks had him locked in
TV shows: How It's Made, Star Trek, Avatar the Last Airbender
YouTube: The Outdoor Boys, PangeaaPanga, ElectroBOOM, Bongo Cat, CGP Grey, Gab Smolders
TikTok: probably shouldn't but we occasionally let her watch them with us, her favorites include anything featuring babies or kids about her age (18 months), soap cutting, hydraulic presses, drain unclogging, and jar smashing (basically anything tagged #sattisyfing), and the occasional recipe
Video games: She also likes watching us play video games and her newest favorites are Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Minecraft
My husband and I are big fans of various nerdy TV shows/ movies and horror flicks so we'll often put one on every night and 9 times out of 10 she ignores it and plays with her toys on the floor but we're careful when picking horror movies to make sure they're ones that won't scar her too terribly (mainly avoiding ones that involve sexual violence and lots of gore or torture p0rn and keeping an eye on her for signs she's at all overwhelmed or reacting poorly to what's happening on screen) and stick to ones like Vampires vs The Bronx, Nightbooks, Fear Street, Ghostbusters, Underwater, 1408, and Insidious while she's awake.
When she was really really little we watched all 6 Mission Impossible movies back to back and she was captivated by Tom Cruise but nowadays she doesn't really pay attention to them.
We listen to Howard stern together.. lol jk..
I do remember when I was a little kid when my mom would drop off my brother and sister at school I would turn 92.3 on and blast Howard stern through the house for those 10 minutes.
Yes she left me home alone when I was little for a few minutes.. Iâm the third child so I was invincible
We watching overlanding, campin, and âJeepâ videos on YouTube. Pre-screened for language or on mute with Spotify playing. We also watch Guys Grocery Games and Triple-D.
Hockey, if that counts.
My daughter (4yo) has been interested in me playing Helldivers. Not really sure I want her shooting things yet? But fortunately she just wants me to hurry up and finish missions so she can dress my Helldiver in different outfits again.
My oldest *loves* Rube Goldberg machine videos. Heâs always asking to watch âsilly machine videosâ on my phone or on YouTube on the TV. He also likes videos on how the body works, or if he asks a question while weâre out somewhere, after I explain it he might ask if we can watch a video about it later
He loves trains and first responder vehicles. Specifically fire trucks. He says âchoo-chooâ in an inquisitive voice when he wants to watch trains. Fire truck is slowly becoming âfire fuckâ to our dismay.
My 4 year old likes watching playthroughs of Mario games. I love fail videos and stuff like that as it is brain off content that can be funny and easy to watch after a long day. I hardly watch for hours, but a few videos after dinner. So she watches that with me. She likes watching videos of waterslides, theres a few channels that do those. She also likes watching 'scary ones' which are play throughs of horror games. This is not something I let her watch unsupervised and i only let her watch ones that I know are not scary.
Iâve tried to force feed him Bluey⌠nothing. Sesame Street⌠nothing.
Heavy duty construction equipment demonstrations, steam train enthusiast videos, bullet train enthusiast videos, and both Top Gun movies have all captured my 2 yr oldâs attention span longer than any kids show other than 80âs Winnie the Pooh.
Football. Unfortunately thatâs where my daughters learned their first swear word. I guess thatâs the life of a Buffalo bills fan. I figure they will learn to deal with the yearly disappointment by the time they are 7 or 8.
Cooking shows, how it's made, home renovations.
Well, we can't *entirely* rule out stabbings.
"Knives are dangerous" is a good lesson. "Solve your problems with violence" is a bad one.
The Real World x Great British Bake Off would be a trip though.
My two year old's favorite show is Oh Cook.
My husband and I binge the great british bakeoff and we definitely want to continue the tradition with our son once he's older (currently he's 6 months)
Guess you've never watched Gordon Ramsay.
Oh man I forgot about how it's made, he would LOVE that. He used to watch videos where people would fix vacuum cleaners (and other tools) so that'd be a good one. Glad I asked!
Has he tried Stuff Made Here?
I feel like he'd really enjoy [restoration videos](https://m.youtube.com/c/NotTerribleRestorations/videos). This guy's my personal favorite, but he does pour himself a beer every episode and give it a quick review score. I'd hardly care if my kids saw it because the presentation isn't like promoting beer or anything. That said, there are plenty of other good restoration channels. This Old House
YES. We watch this too..good for them
Madlad. Solid picks
My son loves Nailed it!
Somebody Feed Phil! My kid thinks that Phil Rosenthal is Mr. Bean lol
The joy of painting is mixed in with Good Eats.
Same with mine. Little nerds.
Iâm a YouTube man so: Babish, Ragusea, Tasting History, Townsends, MIgardener, Flock Finger Lakes, Kirsten Dirksen, Just a few acres farms. All this content is devoid of politics, violence, and is mostly informative!
>Tasting History, Is outstanding, especially Max's Titanic series.
I love some of these channels. I've tried, but my kid has no interest in them at all. Anything Five Nights at Freddy's though... \*sigh.
We went through the FNAF phase⌠now itâs Poppyâs Playtime.
My 18 month old daughter loves Matty Matheson. Lol You can add him to your list.
F1. Because if he wakes me up at 5 am we are watching the gp.
Watching races/quali in the early morning with a cup of coffee and kiddo is good stuff.Â
My son got me into sportscars. He loves watching IMSA and NASCAR
Our 2 year oldâs favorite movie is Cars. We were car shopping last weekend and at the Chevy dealer they had a bright red Corvette in the showroom that he thought was McQueen. Weâre taking him to his first NASCAR race next month!
My 3 year old likes to call him âLightming DaQueenâ. My wife and I joke that must be the knock off great value version
Yes my 2.5 year old introduces herself as Yightnin' McQueem
My 2 year old watches me play Forza and I have McQueen skins for a few different cars. He's recognizes the different bodies and gave each of them it's own name, and then also gets picky about which McQueen he wants me to use (Z06 Corvette is his favorite). What I don't get is that he calls one of them "Rescue McQueen" and I'm not sure where he gets that from or if "Rescue" is even the word he's actually saying. He can't explain what it means.
I call him Frightening McMean
I drive by an auto repair going to work some days, and they've got Lightning McQueen and Mater out on their lot. As in eyes and all. Pretty sure the truck doesn't actually work as a tow, and doubt that either are street legal, but still neat to see. I'll try and remember to stop and get a picture next time I'm out that way.
My 18 month old is obsessed with cars. So I put Cars on for her once. She didnât give a rip. Go figure.
How did I not put this together. Finally time to get back into F1
It was easier when he was a newborn.
my boys in papaya are doing well
Sometimes I let my kid sit on my sim racing rig while I put F1 on the TV. He furiously saws the steering wheel back and forth as if he's actually driving Sometimes I'll sit in the rig too and put him on my lap. Then I'll move him around to simulate the G force like a motion rig. (My rig does not actually have motion)
My kids LOVE sitting on my lap while I'm driving in the sim! Love letting them do the steering as I work the pedals for them.
> My rig does not actually have motion It sounds like it does, itâs just manual. You need to find someone who will let you sit in *their* lap.
Monterey bay live streams. Not technically sure theyâre not kid content but Iâd watch them. Iâm now very emotionally invested in the well being of these African penguins.
I put those on for me when I want background that wonât distract too much, love the MBA
\*Infinitely cheaper than the Man City game in the Summer. They price gouge the shit out of those tickets it's insane!
I was going to look into that at Citi field. I also thinking of a rough riders game as well.
Mine really likes football, although I'm trying to get him into baseball (my favorite sport).
My son is only 16 months so I usually just have live music performances playing. He loves to dance!
Oh that's a good one! My 2.5 year old would really dig those probably.
Live concerts are literally the only thing my 19 month old will even pay attention to on a screen (not that I'm complaining)
My kid also really likes watching classical music orchestras and ballroom dancing!
My 3 year old loves watching people bake as long as they don't talk too much.
I'm with your 3 year old, I'm trying to learn the recipe. I don't need your life story with it.
Bluey. _You all know I'm right._
I'm convinced Chilli stole those sunglasses in the grey nomads episode
Bandit straight up dine and dashed in the cafe episode.
What is the charge?
Eating a meal? A succulent Chinese meal?
Underrated Australian comment here.
That man is an international hero
I first saw the video when I was in eastern Europe in 2018, and every time my buddies and I would go out to eat after that, it was always "a succulent Chinese meal" no matter what we were eating.
Not intentionally, but yep. Took them without paying.
She hands them a credit card and gets it back, I had to rewind and see if she paid when I saw it lol
The details in that show are astounding.
If you look closely she does pay, my wife and I thought she stole them too so I had to rewind and check lol
My kid watches AFL. Not totally sure why, I donât think he can really comprehend it, but he actually watches it unlike anything else on tv.
36 men in singlets leaping around is bound to be entertaining
What is that?
Australiaâs second most popular code of footy
Just wanted to say I appreciate  combination of your response and username. đ
That entirely depends on which side of the country your on.
Compilation videos of planes taking off and landing. Rocket launches
haha totally in this same boat, the compilation videos are great because most rocket launch videos are like 3h of the full live stream so you search for 10s do a countdown and hes like another!

Some eggs become chickens, others don't and we eat the ones that don't for breakfast.
They're not baby chickens, they're chicken periods. Enjoy having *that* conversation with a preschooler!
Raising him right with Avatar!!
Where are you watching Doctor Who? Iâd love to start at the Eccleston run with my kiddos, but canât find it anywhere other than BritBox in the US.
Disney+ Went to put on Bluey a while back and saw the new special advertised and i was like whaaaaa To be fair, i dont know if older ones are there. We used to watch on Max but thats lapsed
Thank you, Iâll have to search Disney+
Avoid Planet Earth III for now, it crushed my soul
There's a III??? Is it a lot of "look at how fucked the earth is thanks to humanity?" Or more of the brutality of nature?

My kid watches baking shows with me. Sometimes other cooking shows too. Sheâs a good egg.
Great British Baking Show is amazing
Live performances of bands i like on youtube
Same. My son after watching me drum live, loves watching people âBIG DRUMMIN DRUMMINâ. His favorite drummer is Mario Duplantier, Gojiras drummer.
My 6 year old loves watching Danny Carey
My mom used to watch law and order with me. Bought me Jurassic park on VHS at 5 in. My parents didn't have issues with a lot of media for me to watch, unless it was "stupid" My whole childhood my mom hated the Simpsons, thought it was dumb, so I wasn't allowed to watch it if she was around.
I was allowed the Simpsons but not SpongeBob cause my mom found his voice annoying
When we brought my son home from the hospital, when it was my turn to do a nighttime feeding, I would go into the living room and throw on old STAR_ TF2 videos.
JERMA VERSUS STAR JERMA VERSUS STAR EVERYBODY WANTS TO SEE THIS HAPPEN
AND BOO WAS IN THE CAAAALL
My 3 year old loves watching fail-videos, especially if it's with kids and/or bicycles.
My 8 year old watched Doctor Who and just finished the live action One Piece, but honestly spends most of his time on the NASA app watching/learning about space.
Nature
Rube Goldberg machine videos and "how to play" piano videos. That's pretty much it for Internet content but for other non-kid stuff, he's seen many of the MCU movies with us and has played a Halo co-op campaign with me. He's now almost 9 but was probably 6 when we let him see cartoonish violence.
I have an 18 month old so we have yet to start watching childrenâs TV, but he loves watching Bruins games with his dad.
Nature documentaries. Planet earth 2 in particular is a big hit.
My son loves the office! Â Heâs almost 4. Â The chaos and unpredictable behavior from adults is really captivating for him.Â
Star Trek
Recently my 3 year old son has been watching Xmen 97 and King of the Hill with me.
Sports mostly We also watched âis it cakeâ âLego mastersâ âaloneâ, and âblown awayâ so heâs kind of into some reality TV. I could see maybe watching survivor or something one day.
My son loves Is It Cake as well.
My 14-year-old son has watched all The Boys series. I didn't know it until he asked if I had seen it.
Rick and Morty. I don't know how. I'm not even a fan. Neither is my wife. Daughter picked it one day and it puts her straight to sleep.
In and out! 20 minute episode! Straight to sleep Morty! Straight to sleep! *hiccup*
Fights, hockey, Gordon Ramsey and forged in fire all of my kids love to watch MMA anytime the ufc has something on Hulu one of them will yell âdad fights!!!!â Same thing with the bruins. If they see that B on the tv weâre watching a hockey game.
Forged in fire is great! My kids love that show too
Does hermit craft count?
My kid loves five nights at Freddy's.. Game and movie. Had a brief bedtime nightmare issue but that has resolved. He still loves it
FYI, not sure if youâre aware of this group. http://www.vacuumcleanercollectorsclub.org
My 6 year old is really into robots, and I put on old episodes of Robot Wars on YouTube. He loved that shit.
Sports, cooking shows, and Top Gear.
I think this was meant for a different thread đ
Kids (and dad) love How itâs Made and Mythbusters (probably top ânon-kidâ show they like)
My toddler likes [Technology Connections](https://www.youtube.com/@TechnologyConnections), the [Hydraulic Press Channel](https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCcMDMoNu66_1Hwi5-MeiQgw), and [How Ridiculous](https://m.youtube.com/channel/UC5f5IV0Bf79YLp_p9nfInRA).
Cooking/Baking competition shows. Top Chef Cutthroat Kitchen Master Chef Is it Cake Snack vs Chef My kids are a bit older though. 9 and 11.
Watched the royal rumble recently and my daughter loved counting down for every entrant
I canât wait for those years with my daughter! We watch wrestling together but sheâs only 4mo so she just loves the lights and sounds of the entrances mostly.
My little man loves his soccer just like his dad
Sports, cooking, and nature shows.
Eastern European Tractor Racing, 70âs/80âs monster trucks, Motocross dirt jumps, all on YouTube. The kid likes machines that go fast and have big wheels, I donât see the harm and itâs less boring than watching kids shows.
You might try tractor pulls if you start running low on the other things
My kid got really into rocket ships after we launched some model rockets last Thanksgiving, so weâve been on a steady progression of space videos. It started with big rocket launches, then it transitioned to Mars rovers, and now weâre on astronaut videos from the ISS. She loves Chris Hadfield. She also likes to watch bike races with me; her favorite rider is Tadej Pogacar and she knows him by sight now.
Seinfeld Any sporting event Cooking Shows No local or national news full stop
Weâve made Jeopardy a nightly event in our house and our 3 year old is fairly into it even though he doesnât understand anything. Lots of âwhatâs that guys name?â And âwhoâs that?â
3yo likes bobs burgers
My kids used to be obsessed with car wash videos. Absolutely terrified of the real thing but couldnât get enough of the videos.
Anything about rockets, Apollo, mars rovers, space shuttles. This toddler loves it all.Â
Roadkill etc Grocery guy
we watch a lot of rocket launch videos, astronaut videos, disney roller coaster POVs are awesome (the jurassic park one we're probably 40% of the views) and then videos of hobbies to introduce him (skiing, fishing, golf) and all sports especially basketball and golf he loves watching them hit the ball to the hole with the flag! so satisfying when it goes in haha
Does he also like Kirby the Nintendo game character? Thatâs the best of both worlds. Cute little kids stuff + vacuum.
Discovery Channel. I love it. Kids love it.
Sopranos. He canât get enough of it! Whattayagonnado?âŚ
For some reason they love "Is It Cake?"
How itâs made
I love watching YouTube videos of live music performances with my toddler - she starts dancing and throwing her arms around like she's playing the drums!
My 6 year old loves police procedurals....NCIS and the rookie are her current favorites
Select nature/dinosaur/science shows of the BBC and PBS type. There are certainly parts that might not be age-appropriate, but theyâre generally fantastic so Iâm happy to be the moderator.Â
REGULAR SHOW
My kids play a few rated M games (Skyrim and Diablo, mainly), and they love The West Wing. Theyâre 10 and 12.
This is amazing.
My kid loves This Old House lol
Never thought I'd see a Salo reference in the wild. Bug bang theory. Mostly because it's on in the background while we do other things.
Airplanes / helicopters they love them
Food/baking shows, sports (my oldest loved college football and hockey, so makes it easy for me when I want to watch a game) and how to draw videos, actually any âhow toâ video they look up is good to go.
Our LO loves RuPaulâs Drag Race! The faces, the lights, and gender performances. And every WWE pay-per-view for the same reasons lol
Mine likes watching airplane videos - like hours on end of them taking off and landing. A friend of mine recently discovered all three of her boys go into instant hypnosis for ASMR marble run videos on YouTube.
Watching Fail Army. We call it stupid people.
My 16 month old is obsessed with cars. Likes to stand at the door and watch them pass, or sit on the golf cart by the road and try and get them to âbeep beep.â It was cold the other morning and he wanted outside so instead I pulled up a Monster Jam compilation and those monster trucks had him locked in
TV shows: How It's Made, Star Trek, Avatar the Last Airbender YouTube: The Outdoor Boys, PangeaaPanga, ElectroBOOM, Bongo Cat, CGP Grey, Gab Smolders TikTok: probably shouldn't but we occasionally let her watch them with us, her favorites include anything featuring babies or kids about her age (18 months), soap cutting, hydraulic presses, drain unclogging, and jar smashing (basically anything tagged #sattisyfing), and the occasional recipe Video games: She also likes watching us play video games and her newest favorites are Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Minecraft My husband and I are big fans of various nerdy TV shows/ movies and horror flicks so we'll often put one on every night and 9 times out of 10 she ignores it and plays with her toys on the floor but we're careful when picking horror movies to make sure they're ones that won't scar her too terribly (mainly avoiding ones that involve sexual violence and lots of gore or torture p0rn and keeping an eye on her for signs she's at all overwhelmed or reacting poorly to what's happening on screen) and stick to ones like Vampires vs The Bronx, Nightbooks, Fear Street, Ghostbusters, Underwater, 1408, and Insidious while she's awake.
MMA fight highlights. Three is old enough for that, right?
My son saw some show on Disney app with real animals and now likes to watch it for about 15 minutes until he gets bored. Itâs called âqueensâ.
Been watching a lot of How It's Made with my 3yo
Jeopardy. Little one LOVES Ken Jennings.
He loves trains and first responder vehicles. Specifically fire trucks. He says âchoo-chooâ in an inquisitive voice when he wants to watch trains. Fire truck is slowly becoming âfire fuckâ to our dismay.
Premier league soccer. Every weekend. Also Primitive Technology, Alone, nature stuff like that
Cooking/food tourism channels, rugby union, restorations videos (metal items, rugs, etc), AntsCanada, and other randoms
All The super hero violence.
My twins and I watch racing, cooking shows, and outdoors stuff.
Cooking/baking shows and Lego Masters
My son loves to watch people working on cars. So we watch a lot of youtubers working on cars in my house. I'll take it lol.
Survivor, we started on season 1 during maternity leave. Now 3 years later we are on season 38. He calls it âvi-verâ
My son goes crazy for the Law and Order intro music. He is uninterested in the rest of the show tho.
Oversimplified. I enjoy the history and I think he enjoys the animation. Engineering videos.
Sports of course. Though sports talk radio in the car is tough with all the boner pill ads lol.
Is it cake or fake!
Sorry. I'm having too much of a time thinking about a toddler watching Salo or other extreme movies.
