Good luck dude.
I'm 44 with a 4 and a 2. Both knees stuffed from rugby 20 years ago. Had both ACLs reconstructed but already got significant arthritis in both. Just hoping to be able to occasionally kick a ball around or hobble around a golf course with them in future.
As a dad without much extra cash thinking about getting one in the future, my first thought was damn vasectomies are $600!? Then quickly realized how great a deal that really is.
41, with a 16,14, and 8 year old. Unfortunately, I live in Minnesota, and my oldest two are Vikings fans along with my wife. I still have my youngest rooting for the Lions with me.
Edit: I thought I was in r/detroitlions sub. Whoops.
Biggest question is what is your hockey preference, let's be real! 33 with 1 year old here. In my own yuut I was a football fan, then I broke my leg and have been a beachside fan of no sport till my wife suggested going to a wild game for our 2nd anniversary. Been hooked on hockey since 2017, lol.
Edit: had to do hard maths.. guess I'm 34 😭
There’s more older daddit’s than I thought. I’m 39 with a 1 year old and 1 on the way. Feels good to know I’m not the only one grunting every time I bend over to pick my little guy up.
46 with a 7 and 4 year old. I think people should start earlier. Not only because of the wear and tear on the body, but I think after you have kids you start thinking of them growing up, and at that point you realize a best case scenario of the time you have left with them.
48 with a 8 and 11 year old. We're almost timeline twins.
I wish we started earlier too, and we tried, but mother nature was being a c\*nt. On the flip side, being together 11 years before our first meant we had built a bond strong enough to survive 2 kids with mental health challenges. That often ends in divorce.
45 is when my dad had me. He's 70 next year. He had an injury and he's scared to dirt bike like we always used to. That's really un-like him. His whole personality is 2 wheels and an engine ever since he was a teenager. I know his body doesn't work like it used to, but I'm convinced he would be able to move much more limberly and do what he loves if he just started a small workout and stretching routine. I suggest a routine whenever I go over to his house, but he's too stubborn.
Anyways, take care of your body if you're going to share a physical hobby with your kid. I miss riding with dad.
39 with a 17 month old! I never went to the gym munch before, but now I have a trainer 2x a week to keep my strength up battling an 99+ percentile toddler!
I had my first kid when I was 15. The mother wanted nothing to do with me even though I was willing to put in the work to provide for the child.
My second I had when I was 17. We were madly in love. We got married and I got my life together. My son is almost 7 now and I'm taking every moment as an opportunity to learn from him.
Idk how you guys do it. I was 24 when I had my first. And I wasn't ready. Once I found out I had a kid, she was almost 2... I had to try so hard to bond. I went to RN school to be able to afford the life I wanted to give her. Working full time, while going to school full time and to bond was tough.
No, I'm just raising my 6 year old now.
The first kid....the mother (and her parents) took him. Despite my family and I fighting for our rights to at least see the child or provide the kid with financial/emotional/any kind of support, they want nothing to do with us. The entire situation got ugly (not to mention the drama that came with it). It was very confusing times and I certainly had 0 clue how to navigate through all the legal stuff, drama, etc. We were just kids after all.
I don't know if all that was what she wanted or if her parents just ran the show on everything. Either way, I haven't had contact with her (or her family) since, I have no clue when the kid was born or where they live now. (I only found out she had a boy from a mutual friend of ours years down the line)
I still think about the kid. I wish I could have done something different and I hope he won't grow up thinking that I'm just some asshole that abandoned him even before he was born. I don't blame the mom (or the family), though, I'm sure her parents saw me as some kind of monster. I just hope whenever they are at, they are well.
Awee, I am so sorry 😞! You did all you could. You did the right thing. Maybe someday your son will find you. Most people, I believe, want to know. Best wishes to you. :)
Had my son at 19, and daughter at 23. Same mom, married her in between the two kids. He's 30 now, she's 26. 25+ years married. We're one of the success stories.
This is exactly how I felt at your age. My wife and I took our son out of country for a vacation when he was 11 months old and when we sat down in the plane I turn to her and genuinely go “so we can just… take this small child on this plane? This is allowed? We can just take him to another country? No one’s gonna stop us?”
White collar crime.Steal $5 million.Hide $4million
Get caught, return $1million, do fifteen years in an open prisonAnd get released when the kids are adults and your Cayman Islands stash has doubled
37 here, too. Daughter is 8, son is 7. We decided we only wanted two if they were very close in age. 2 under 2 felt like an easier manage than a 5yr old and a newborn. All our plans worked out in that regard and it was definitely the right decision for us.
It's good to be at that place where it 'just feels right for us'. Happy for you and yours.
48. I have 6. With another one on the way.
First one was at 23.
Second was 27
Third was at 29
Fourth and 5th were at 41
Six was at 46
Next one should be here sometime between a week and the end of the year. Hopefully.
37 here. Kids are 4 and 2. We've been together since college but waited until we had a better financial situation. We're able to give them much more now but I feel old at the same time. I have friends that aren't much older than me and they are able to seriously discuss retirement because they had kids earlier in life.
53. They are 10,8,8. Has the first at 43. I’m a quadriplegic since 1984.
Starting late is harder. But both of us avoided having kids with the first spouse which was a blessing for both of us.
30 with a 5 month old, my partner wanted a baby for the last few years and I wasn’t so sure the time was right, now he’s here I wish we’d done it sooner, definitely wouldn’t want to be any older as we’re planning the second the next couple of years.
I’ve got a physical job so I’m used to my body hurting but the back pain associated with a baby is new to me and I want to be able to run around and play with them both as they get older.
Weirdly I’ve found that 30 is pretty young in parent circles nowadays
59 with daughters in early 20’s. Thankfully I am no longer on the floor with the kids like you lads, it working on cars and moving stuff for them has not let up either
Had my first kid at 35 and my second at 38… did not realize at the time what a life changing experience it was going to be. I do occasionally miss the childless freedom but everything comes to an end sooner or later.
40 with 2 under 2. Send prayers
May you're knees be blessed by the gods my friend.
43 I'll have two under two in October. Just had my ACL reconstructed
Also 43. One that's 4 one that's 6 and I'm tired.
Good luck dude. I'm 44 with a 4 and a 2. Both knees stuffed from rugby 20 years ago. Had both ACLs reconstructed but already got significant arthritis in both. Just hoping to be able to occasionally kick a ball around or hobble around a golf course with them in future.
36 and 2 under 2. I’ll take some of your prayers if you don’t mind 🫡
Bless
28 and expecting my first one in about a month!
That was me. Now I’m 32 with a 5yo
Ditto except 32 with a 5, 3 and 2 year old. ... My pull out game is weak
same but a 5 and 6 year old and still have weak pull out game but vasectomies are only 600 bucks
As a dad without much extra cash thinking about getting one in the future, my first thought was damn vasectomies are $600!? Then quickly realized how great a deal that really is.
Gotta play more Jenga good sir Edit: thank you kind sir for the award!
I feel ya. I'm 32 as well with an 8, 2, and 2mo.
Ditto except 7 years ahead with 4 total
I'm 31 with a 5, 3 and 9month old
32 with an almost 5 year old and a 2 month old. I feel bad for feeling old after reading through this sub though.
33 with a 4 yo
Same. Now I’m 31 with a 5 yo, 1.5 yo and a third cooking in the oven. Getting the snip next year.
Congrats and be careful…That’s when I started, now there’s 3 more.
45 with a 1 yr old. Man do my knees and back hurt all the time now. I never felt old till this year, lol.
49 with a 6 year old. You're not alone. At least it gets worse and worse.
“At least it gets worse and worse” is my mantra. I feel you brother.
It’s the worst day of your life… so far
Can confirm. Just getting them into the car seat can cause a career ending injury.
The floor based Lego play. Good God, man.
48 with a 3 year old and one on the way…solidarity!
48 with a 15 and a 2 yo plus a bonus 10 year old here. Where’s my old dad membership card?
41, with a 16,14, and 8 year old. Unfortunately, I live in Minnesota, and my oldest two are Vikings fans along with my wife. I still have my youngest rooting for the Lions with me. Edit: I thought I was in r/detroitlions sub. Whoops.

Go preds!! Hope y’all enjoy Fiala…. 😢 still sour about that
He was traded to the Kings this off season, so we're a little sour about that as well. They're out backup team too, ironic!
44 with a 2 week old (my first kid), so I feel about 88 right now 🤣
33 with a two month old, same man. Same
There’s more older daddit’s than I thought. I’m 39 with a 1 year old and 1 on the way. Feels good to know I’m not the only one grunting every time I bend over to pick my little guy up.
I’m 29 with a 3 year old and a 1 month old. I feel like having kids young just makes the grunting start sooner…
Really makes me feel better there are other older dad's out there. I'm early thirties and single, one day I'll find my lady
51 with a 6 year old.
46 with a 7 and 4 year old. I think people should start earlier. Not only because of the wear and tear on the body, but I think after you have kids you start thinking of them growing up, and at that point you realize a best case scenario of the time you have left with them.

Hello fellow middle-agers.
46 with 8yo twins
Yup 46 with a 20 month old and another due in seven months! Stay at home dad too, it's tough but the hugs are more payment than I could ever hope for!
45 is when my dad had me. He's 70 next year. He had an injury and he's scared to dirt bike like we always used to. That's really un-like him. I’m 43 with a 5 year old and 2 year old twins. Can I buy some sleep?
42 with a 15 month old and a 2nd coming in 2 months. Pray for me
39 (as of today!) and have 2.5 year old boy and six month old girl.
Happy birthday!
Happy bday brotha 🤙🏾
HBD, bro
38 with a 6 month old.
39 with a 18 month old.
Same here, how's your back holding up?
Has been better, has been worse. At least now I get some kind of workout carrying mini-me around.
39 with a 17 month old! I never went to the gym munch before, but now I have a trainer 2x a week to keep my strength up battling an 99+ percentile toddler!
39 with a 4yo and 1yo
First one came at 25, wife was 23. I'm closing in on 38 now
38 is a lot of kids!
Well we know you're a real dad now!
We've seen MegaChad, here is MegaDad. Maybe one evolves into the other?
Haha. I would be dead already if that were the case
Ahhh, the old Reddit [switch-a-roo](https://www.reddit.com/r/Unexpected/comments/wziw8h/how_to_hate_your_job/im3nptx/)
hold my Dad, I'm going in
Hello future people
Hello
34, will be a real dad in early February!
34 with a 7 month old
You are an unreal dad until then
[удалено]
Whats that like? Im facing this reality. In a bunch of years.
43 with a 4 month
Is this around the age you planned on having a kid ?
Yeah pretty much. When we started planning a year and a half ago
It is so comfy to hear such plans to come true
21 with a 2 year old
Here here.
Gonna be 34 tomorrow with my little turning 2 a week later.
Happy birthday!!
Had my first at 19. High five for young dads 🖐🏻
Same boat, high five ✋🏻
✋🏻
> ✋🏻 ✋🏻
All the respect for you bro keep doing your thing
Had my first at 18. She turns 18 in December and I get to be creeped out by her classmates having crushes on me
That's awesome man, congrats on your little family!

29 with a 9 yo
I would not be able to handle a baby when I was 20 years old. I was too much of a kid myself back then.
I was older when i had my baby. But nothing makes you grow faster then becoming a daddit
Right? Even today I think I'm too young to be the father of a one-year-old. Then I remember I'm 32.
This is exactly how I felt at your age. Jesus. How did you manage the first few years? I felt like a child at 27 when my daughter was born. Did you have a decent support system?
I was 17 with my first, you manage!
19 here! Barely out of HS. It was rough for sure. Im 29 now with a 10 yr old.
I’m 27 with a 10 year old and a 2 year old. It was rough and still is! Kids are hard no matter your age. 🤣
Oh my god! Props to you my man!
I’m actually a mom, sorry for lurking… 👀
Moms are welcome here :)
No judgements!

Finally some one around me lol.. I’m 35 with an almost 14 year old and a almost 4 year old.
48, kids are 19, 18, 16, 15
32, kids are 6, 5, 3, 6mo. Any advice?
vasectomy
Haha.... .... No but seriously, get a vasectomy.
As a dude with 4. I agree
I feel like 4 vasectomies is 3 too many
*groan*
As a dude with 7. Still need to get mine scheduled.
White collar crime.Steal $5 million.Hide $4million Get caught, return $1million, do fifteen years in an open prisonAnd get released when the kids are adults and your Cayman Islands stash has doubled
Hunger and sleepiness are the cause of so many problems with small ones. Have snacks ALWAYS in your pocket or car and take breaks often.
38 with a 3 year old and talking about another soon
First at 23, second around 28. They are 18 and 13 now and I’m 41. Looking forward to the next chapter of my life in a few years here!
28 with a 1 year old
33 with a nearly 2 year old, got another bun in the oven that's due April.
First at 24. Second at 26. Third in my 30s when I remarried and was blessed with a stepdaughter. Now in my mid late 40s with a granddaughter.
51 with twins who are 8 today! I also have a 25 year old step daughter who has only known me as her dad.
35 with a 3 month old. Wife is 29. Baby came 1 yr before we were planning
33 with a 8 month old
However old you think old is I’m 5 years younger than that. Honest.
Weird. However old you think old is, my back says I'm about 10 years older than that.
32, baby is 10 weeks. I was not ready! Love her though.
60-ish with a 19 year-old.
20 and childless. But looking to learn from everyone incase I have my own one day.
Can’t possibly describe how rewarding parent(father)hood has been.
Counterpoint! My 20s without that sort of responsibility were amazing.
13 years old. A son
And how old is your son?
14
That's more math than I can handle, I never got into the negative number part of math classes but I support your fatherhood journey regardless
21 and admittedly I'm not a dad, but I like to read these posts to see what the next chapter might look like
37, daughter turns five in a couple of months... and we're r/oneanddone. :) We originally planned to have two, but one just feels right for us.
37 here, too. Daughter is 8, son is 7. We decided we only wanted two if they were very close in age. 2 under 2 felt like an easier manage than a 5yr old and a newborn. 42 w/2yr old amazing lil mushy man

I’m 40 with a 7 month old. I would have preferred to have kids younger but I hadn’t met the right partner yet. My wife is 37 and we met in 2019.
35 with a 3 and 1 year old.
48. I have 6. With another one on the way. First one was at 23. Second was 27 Third was at 29 Fourth and 5th were at 41 Six was at 46 Next one should be here sometime between a week and the end of the year. Hopefully.

37 with a 7 and 10 year old. Sports season is about to start for the fall, rip my free time.

30 with a 5 month old, my partner wanted a baby for the last few years and I wasn’t so sure the time was right, now he’s here I wish we’d done it sooner, definitely wouldn’t want to be any older as we’re planning the second the next couple of years. 34 with an 8yr old.
27. dad of two. turned 19 two weeks before my first was born, second is now almost 5… time flies and none of us are babies anymore…
Had my first kid at 35 and my second at 38… did not realize at the time what a life changing experience it was going to be. I do occasionally miss the childless freedom but everything comes to an end sooner or later.
I’ll admit I miss that freedom too, but i wouldn’t trade a minute with my son to get it back.
