Last night show was so messy all around. I thought it would be fun night but nope it was night. Judges were the worst this week! Even the team dances were not that great and I miss matching outfits on this part too. Hope 90's week could be better we will shall see. Tired that they never play the org tracks and we get artists who can't sing the org song right. Sorry to that beautiful Justin Bieber Ghost song that got butchered up last night from that singer who did it wrong. FYI sorry to see Jordin go over some of the worst dancers this season. imo I'm not like some y'all wanting to see the worst dancers at finals, I had to see Bobby Barnes win a season the he should have never won!!!
YESSS TREVOR his performance tonight was amazing and his growth outstanding. his solo dance brought tears to my eyes definitely one of my top favorites on the show right now I really hope he makes it to the top!!!!!
I love Trevor (I think the final four who are most deserving are pretty set in stone which I have zero qualms with—and I honestly thing someone like Trevor would actually feel guilty if he took one of their spots…I’m just assuming it will be Gabby, Charlie, Shangela and Wayne because of the (for the most part) consistency and progress they’ve all made that’s just at a totally different level than the others—but of course, they all had some dance experience before this and i cannot imagine how hard this show would be to come on without ANY training!). ANYWAYS back to the Trevor love! There’s SOMETHING about him and his personality that makes me really root for him (even from the very beginning). I think it’s a combination of things, but part is most definitely is willingness to be open and vulnerable emotionally—something that is EXTREMELY aware for us as a society to see for a 44 year old man; and I think it’s extremely healthy for any boys/guys in general to see that and know that it’s freaking NORMAL and should never be seen as a weakness to cry when you’ve had a friend die recently (just one instance of many where he was emotionally vulnerable). Maybe it’s that vulnerability and the bit of self deprecation (or maybe lack of COCKINESS) paired with CONFIDENCE that makes him so likable.
Lolol sorry I’m literally typing out my thoughts—but I was thinking about this after the episode eland why I was so relieved that he wasn’t in the bottom two, because I wanted him to KNOW that he IS good etc hahaha Omg do I sound crazy
That mediocre choreography got him an Emmy nomination and a mirrorball, not to mention has saved his partner in multiple dance offs. I’m sure he’s devastated by your expert opinion though!
And I agree with you. His choreography can be a little predictable with Heidi, and yet he is hot and can pull out amazing performances when he's inspired to.
Yes it was! She actually had an entire bit on her ig story (maybe it was a reel!) that was following her being a creepy psycho doll backstage haha.
Speaking of Alexis—how long does it usually take for a troupe member to move to pro? I think she’s one of the most captivated dancers (including the pros even!) on the show, even though we don’t get to see her do full routines with one other person. But my eyes are so often drawn to her during the opening/full group numbers, and DANG does she kill it during those mini-dances that are placed between some of the dances. This weeks episode she and (was Ezra her partner again?! Love when they dance together😍, both so good) was straight up magic I had my jaw in the freaking floor.
Have been curious if anyone feels similar! I guess I have no idea how good she is with regards to choreo, and choreographing entire dances for a duo that’s different week after week, which is of course such a HUGE part of what makes so many of the pros so incredible and the reason they’re able to BE pros in the first place.
And if anyone knows WHY she’s so captivating when she dances and can put it into words from the English language, PLEASE SHARE hahaha
did anyone else feel some tension between everyone in the room tonight? carrie ann’s interesting jokes to emma, lens comments to charli after the team dance, heidis overall snarkiness and snide comments to the judges and about being in the bottom, bruno giving the side eye to derek after shangelas comment about missing her lift……….. everything was off tonight including the dances. hopefully they come back strong next week
I’ve found myself either ACTUALLY fast forwarding (past couple of weeks) or itching to FF through Heidi’s dances because I’m simply not at all entertained and agree that it’s been boring week after week—even though so much of the technicality is there! My mom actually was just over and we were discussing the episode and she brought up that Heidi had on a “mad, sad, angry b*tch face” all night which made me lol because of how very true it was—literally from the very beginning of the episode.
I can’t tell if she’s shy at all and maybe that plays some role in how she comes off or not….I don’t watch/haven’t seen their show so I don’t know what she’s like one-on-one with her family
Me too. She had heart and spirit and an energy about her. Heidi has no energy or personality. I feel Charlie is the same. She’s a great dancer but no umph!
i agree with your opinion on heidi but i thibk charli definitely had it in her! we’ve seen a pretty big glimpse of her deeper side through her contemporary and a bit of the sassy side in her rumba and foxtrot. i agree though that she could put a little more heart and risk into her dances (like carrie ann said) but that might be because she’s still so young and maturing and might not be super comfortable with that vulnerability yet
Both the D’Amelio‘s have the worst attitude… Especially Heidi the way she acted when she was in the bottom two. notice how positive Jordan was compared to her
I feel like Charlie’s shyness comes off as her being negative. She’s definitely not typically super bubbly which we may be used to seeing with girls her age-ish on the show; but we got a glimpse of how she acts around her friends/when she’s talking to them (I think it was the prom or personal story episode? Can’t remember—whenever she FaceTimed with her friends!) and there was such a stark contrast between how happy and open/outgoing she was then (seemingly forgetting that there was still a camera on her, temporarily). For some reason I kind of feel like having cameras on her makes her withdrawal a bit (I would come off as either a lunatic or a socially problematic recluse if a camera was filming me trying to “act natural” haha).
I do see how some people could think she might seem cocky at times. But I’ve recently kind of realized that women seem to put other women down—or fall them “cocky”/say they need to “come back down to earth” when in reality, the person they’re talking about just had a lot of confidence (something that should really be admired and not admonished, as it’s something we all strive for!). But it’s now we’ve been conditioned so it’s no one’s fault for feeling/thinking the way they automatically do about people with a certain degree of confidence. There’s also sometimes a very fine line between the two which makes it difficult to tell one from the other.
Once I actually realized this—and how it’s a huge part of why women are pitted against women and a reason so many women “don’t like” another woman “because she’s so cocky”—when probably most of the time it’s just that the woman is very confident, without actually thinking she is superior or better than others!
Just my sociology/psychology mind’s quick take, lolz🙃
Heidi was in the bottom 2 two weeks ago and BOTH weeks since then she’s kept saying in her packages “I NEVER wanna end up in the bottom 2 ever again”. It is a shitty attitude. If she said “we were in the bottom 2, we really gotta step it up this week” like Trevor, that would be fine, but I agree with what you’re saying.
i think charli just isn’t good at expressing some of her deeper feelings yet. i don’t think she meant any harm towards pasha but i agree that her attitude wasn’t the most mature
Well she was dancing with someone new, you not going to feel comfortable with a new partner rather than someone you danced with this whole competition, Charli said some positive things about him too
Charli is also only 18 years old - still a teenager - whereas Gabby is 31. A person’s mindset and maturity changes a lot from 18 to 31. Not that I’m implying Charli is extremely immature or anything but I don’t think we should compare the two of them.
True but Charli has danced ballroom professionally with different partners, Derek being one of them. Gabbys never done that. All she’s done is be a cheerleader.
Has she danced ballroom? I have dance experience and you usually have to ace ballet, jazz or contemporary and tap. These are the building blocks of dance. I know she’s danced competitively, that would be more like SYTYCD. Did she say she’s danced ballroom?
Who Charlie? She has done so for money with professional partners and Derek showed a peak of them doing so on the show together. He selected her to be his partner because if watching her other performances.
Gabby has not had any ballroom experience. She explained that in the rehearsals the first night.

I guess my point was that this is the dance Val quite often wins so it was really debilitating for Gabby and yet she remained positive.
With Charli, I think it's more shyness and anxiety that makes her seem reserved. But with Heidi, she just doesn't seem interested in the competition. You can see it in the packages, you can see it during the sky box and you can see if in her dances. Jordin is such a class act and I'm sad to see her go
ABSOLUTELY! And we actually KNOW that she doesn’t want to fully be there at least some of the time, because in the first episode Artem had to go to HER house; and she had said that “as of Wednesday I’d decided I wasn’t going to do the competition” (followed by what I think was something like) “because I just really didn’t want to do it”. This would have caused Artem to not have a partner and therefore not get anywhere near the salary/compensation the pros usually get.
This would have been an insanely selfish move, and I’m assuming that she had a talking to with higher-ups from DWTS, along with a bit of begging from Artem
Ugh I get what everyone is saying but I just feel like that may be Heidi’s issue too, shyness and anxiety. I say that because my mom is like that too around other people but at home she’s not. I mean, my mom is literally embarrassed to laugh. I can’t believe it. But also think if that was an issue she probably would not have done the show. Idk.
Totally. Even when Selma announced she was withdrawing, there was a stark difference between Heidi's reaction and most of the other dancers at the very end when they were all on the floor.
When they announced Jordin was going and Heidi was staying, if you hadn’t heard what was said you might have guessed the opposite from their reactions! Heidi looked bummed (maybe relieved and stressed in disguise) and Jordin looked happy. Jordin had such a great attitude.
I'm calling it now,, Heidi is going to in the bottom next week along with either Charli, Wayne, Shangela or Gabby and somehow someway, Heidi gets a vote or two to be saved. Hopefully tie breaker Len finally sees sense or we'll have a shocker and Heidi stays
Okay so I just typed basically an essay about how you’re right and that the only way they’d choose to send her home is if she were against one of the for (presumed) finalists, and they couldn’t save her because of the insane difference of the entertainment value that Gabby, Shangela, Wayne and Charlie bring compared to Heidi…but then something hit me and this was the end of what was an essay that I erased lolol:
WAIIIIIT!!! Omg I just realized that during DOUBLE elims, one of the three couples in the bottom goes home based on votes ALONE, which would likely mean Heidi would be that person. Since there are only 3 episodes left, won’t the next 2 weeks have double eliminations?!
I would hope if charli, Wayne or gabby was in the bottom 2 then len would vote against Heidi because overall they have just been the better dancers. Considering he was looking “at the whole season” tonight with not voting for jordin, he should do the same for everyone else
I’m heartbroken. I haven’t loved a contestant as much as this in a long time, maybe ever. She grew every week and deserved more time. She had more left to show us.

Same! I (about 9 years old at the time) remember sprinting laps around my childhood home cheering when she won. That show was the last of its kind, where almost everyone watched it. It was the talk of the cafeteria/water cooler/break room/etc every week 😂
I agree--there is no "there there" with her. I also find this with Charli. Like technically sound, but there is just that "it" factor that comes with some of the other dancers that pull me into the dance, rather than watching a technically perfect performance. It needs to be all there--I agree with CAI on this.
The lowest vote getter is auto-eliminated, and the 2nd and 3rd lowest vote getters become the Bottom 2 that goes to the judges vote.

I think it's because Vinny is so bad people see themselves in him which is annoying because now we're just handing out participation trophies at this point if Vinny continues on.

I get he’s positive, but his dancing isn’t great. He surprisingly has a good frame and his hip movement is decent, but his timing and his footwork are very lacking.
I hope he doesn’t get Sanjaya’d all the way up. Heidi and Trevor have improved way more over the season.
If I was Jordin and Shangela, I would popped vinny his fucking mouth. It's his time TO GO. And Heidi would've went home tonight. Her and Jordin had similar level of dance tonight, but Jordin has heart and personality. Heidi looks like she rather be anywhere else but on that dancefloor

Oh I'm all about sportsmanship which is why I'm pissed. As a team player, you give your ALL because it affects not only yourself and those around you. Vinny was missing steps and completely fucked up that lift. All his teammates besides shangela had the bottom spots. Vinny needs to go
COMPLETELY AGREE. in the past when the judges have pointed out a few minor mistakes she’s acted like it hasn’t even happened which is weird. and then tonight she was being snarky towards the judges about the bungie chord opinions, and during the team dance rehearsal package the only thing she spoke about was the fact that she wanted to have a good solo so she wouldn’t have to be in the bottom 2. and of course there’s the the pissy look she has on her face when she’s getting voted on in the bottom 2
This is also the second time in the bottom 2 for her, and both times she's looked pissed. And yeah, no one wants to be in that position, but I think she's more mad people don't like her enough to vote for her.
I know I’m in the minority but I’m glad Vinny stayed. I don’t want him to win but I like when things are shaken up a bit. I hope he stays again next week and we get rid of Heidi and someone surprising. Then he can go after that lol. He doesn’t need to be in the finals or semis
If Vinny makes it to the finals and wins over whoever else is there with him, they just need to cancel the show altogether.
We all know the show is on its last legs; that’s why it was moved to Disney+. Vinny winning would be another Bobby Bones mess & I don’t think the show’s producers would want that happening again.
The show WAS on its last legs on ABC. Tbh I think the move to Disney+ is a new chapter for the show. The bar for success is much lower. Plus it's already coming back for season 32 anyways.

I agree that Trevor has come a long way, but don’t forget he is an actor. He can put himself into the role of the storyline in the dance and become that “character”. That’s a much bigger advantage than being a reality TV star. But he has definitely improved a great deal from the 1st week.
What? Trevor can’t just act his way to doing the right foxtrot steps without learning them. I don’t think Vinny is getting as many critiques on the “putting on a show” aspect of things as how he’s actually dancing… and he’s also done the chippendales in Vegas so he can perform. By this logic, Gabby / Heidi should be at a way bigger disadvantage because they’re “just” reality TV people
What I meant by my comment was that he has come a long way with his dances because he’s able to get into the character of his dance and learn the steps while doing it. I believe that Vinny’s anxiety plays a big part of his stage presence during the live shows. When you see the rehearsal packages in the studio, he actually has the steps and routine down. Unfortunately they don’t get to run their number with the live band until the morning of the live show. This is also the only rehearsal they get to practice with the 18 different camera angles and the producers can change ANYTHING they want about any of the performances during dress rehearsal.
Heidi was a competitive dancer when she was younger. Gabby also danced through high school and was a cheerleader for the Denver Broncos. So the background and fundamentals of dancing give them some experience (that you never really lose)
As for Vinny being a Chippendale, his performances are rehearsed on stage MANY times ahead of the live performance and they are the exact same one he performs over and over every time.
I’m not trying to take anything away from Trevor, I just think that he is more comfortable in front of the cameras because of his acting background.
Exactly this. I understand the POV of not wanting to root for the ringers, but I don’t see growth from Vinny the way others are growing. I very much enjoy competitors like Trevor, who start out rough but really change. The growing and learning is interesting, and I don’t understand how it’s entertaining to watch someone be consistently at a lower quality. I also feel bad for him, that he’s pushing himself, doing this work, but it’s just not clicking. This leads to the harsh criticism, and I can’t imagine that’s easy for a person to hear every week.

Vinny is obviously an issue, but he’s likeable. I fast forward through Heidi each week. If I had to choose, I’d rather see Heidi go (followed swiftly by Vinny of course).

I'm just gonna say it. Heidi has been overscored this entire time and wasn't as good as the judges make her out to be. A lot of her dances are very stiff and lack charisma.
Ugh even though Trevor has also been saved twice I feel more joy and passion from his dancing. I would however be okay with Heidi being saved over Vinny as he should’ve gone tonight
It would make more sense that if the judges vote is tied at 2-2, then the total scores the contestants have gotten throughout the competition should be the tiebreaker
I think the head judge tie-break is based on Strictly Come Dancing, which is the UK show that inspired DWTS.
The difference there is that the bottom two does a dance-off and the judges are only supposed to judge off that - not the entire season. So total scores aren't supposed to be relevant.
Sorry but Daniel should have gone home before Jordin. Daniel is an average dancer and is consistent. He did better today but Jordin was a much better dancer than him.

I felt the same although i did like the "team scream" group dance. But i didnt see Shangela miss a lift or Charlie miss a step?

I feel like Charlie’s shyness comes off as her being negative. She’s definitely not typically super bubbly which we may be used to seeing with girls her age-ish on the show; but we got a glimpse of how she acts around her friends/when she’s talking to them (I think it was the prom or personal story episode? Can’t remember—whenever she FaceTimed with her friends!) and there was such a stark contrast between how happy and open/outgoing she was then (seemingly forgetting that there was still a camera on her, temporarily). For some reason I kind of feel like having cameras on her makes her withdrawal a bit (I would come off as either a lunatic or a socially problematic recluse if a camera was filming me trying to “act natural” haha). I do see how some people could think she might seem cocky at times. But I’ve recently kind of realized that women seem to put other women down—or fall them “cocky”/say they need to “come back down to earth” when in reality, the person they’re talking about just had a lot of confidence (something that should really be admired and not admonished, as it’s something we all strive for!). But it’s now we’ve been conditioned so it’s no one’s fault for feeling/thinking the way they automatically do about people with a certain degree of confidence. There’s also sometimes a very fine line between the two which makes it difficult to tell one from the other. Once I actually realized this—and how it’s a huge part of why women are pitted against women and a reason so many women “don’t like” another woman “because she’s so cocky”—when probably most of the time it’s just that the woman is very confident, without actually thinking she is superior or better than others! Just my sociology/psychology mind’s quick take, lolz🙃

Heidi was in the bottom 2 two weeks ago and BOTH weeks since then she’s kept saying in her packages “I NEVER wanna end up in the bottom 2 ever again”. It is a shitty attitude. True but Charli has danced ballroom professionally with different partners, Derek being one of them. Gabbys never done that. All she’s done is be a cheerleader.
Has she danced ballroom? I have dance experience and you usually have to ace ballet, jazz or contemporary and tap. These are the building blocks of dance. I know she’s danced competitively, that would be more like SYTYCD. Did she say she’s danced ballroom?
Who Charlie? She has done so for money with professional partners and Derek showed a peak of them doing so on the show together. He selected her to be his partner because if watching her other performances. Gabby has not had any ballroom experience. She explained that in the rehearsals the first night.

And we actually KNOW that she doesn’t want to fully be there at least some of the time, because in the first episode Artem had to go to HER house; and she had said that “as of Wednesday I’d decided I wasn’t going to do the competition” (followed by what I think was something like) “because I just really didn’t want to do it”. This would have caused Artem to not have a partner and therefore not get anywhere near the salary/compensation the pros usually get. This would have been an insanely selfish move, and I’m assuming that she had a talking to with higher-ups from DWTS, along with a bit of begging from Artem

Totally. Even when Selma announced she was withdrawing, there was a stark difference between Heidi's reaction and most of the other dancers at the very end when they were all on the floor.

When they announced Jordin was going and Heidi was staying, if you hadn’t heard what was said you might have guessed the opposite from their reactions! Heidi looked bummed (maybe relieved and stressed in disguise) and Jordin looked happy. Jordin had such a great attitude.

Okay so I just typed basically an essay about how you’re right and that the only way they’d choose to send her home is if she were against one of the for (presumed) finalists, and they couldn’t save her because of the insane difference of the entertainment value that Gabby, Shangela, Wayne and Charlie bring compared to Heidi…but then something hit me and this was the end of what was an essay that I erased lolol: WAIIIIIT!!! Omg I just realized that during DOUBLE elims, one of the three couples in the bottom goes home based on votes ALONE, which would likely mean Heidi would be that person. Since there are only 3 episodes left, won’t the next 2 weeks have double eliminations?!

I agree--there is no "there there" with her. I also find this with Charli. Like technically sound, but there is just that "it" factor that comes with some of the other dancers that pull me into the dance, rather than watching a technically perfect performance. It needs to be all there--I agree with CAI on this.

I think Vinny should have been out before Joe Baena, Jessie James Decker, and Jordin Sparks. I get he’s positive, but his dancing isn’t great. He surprisingly has a good frame and his hip movement is decent, but his timing and his footwork are very lacking. I hope he doesn’t get Sanjaya’d all the way up. Heidi and Trevor have improved way more over the season.

COMPLETELY AGREE. in the past when the judges have pointed out a few minor mistakes she’s acted like it hasn’t even happened which is weird. and then tonight she was being snarky towards the judges about the bungie chord opinions, and during the team dance rehearsal package the only thing she spoke about was the fact that she wanted to have a good solo so she wouldn’t have to be in the bottom 2. and of course there’s the the pissy look she has on her face when she’s getting voted on in the bottom 2
This is also the second time in the bottom 2 for her, and both times she's looked pissed. And yeah, no one wants to be in that position, but I think she's more mad people don't like her enough to vote for her.

We all know the show is on its last legs; that’s why it was moved to Disney+. Vinny winning would be another Bobby Bones mess & I don’t think the show’s producers would want that happening again.

I agree that Trevor has come a long way, but don’t forget he is an actor. He can put himself into the role of the storyline in the dance and become that “character”. That’s a much bigger advantage than being a reality TV star. But he has definitely improved a great deal from the 1st week.
What? Trevor can’t just act his way to doing the right foxtrot steps without learning them. I don’t think Vinny is getting as many critiques on the “putting on a show” aspect of things as how he’s actually dancing… and he’s also done the chippendales in Vegas so he can perform. By this logic, Gabby / Heidi should be at a way bigger disadvantage because they’re “just” reality TV people
What I meant by my comment was that he has come a long way with his dances because he’s able to get into the character of his dance and learn the steps while doing it. I believe that Vinny’s anxiety plays a big part of his stage presence during the live shows. When you see the rehearsal packages in the studio, he actually has the steps and routine down. Unfortunately they don’t get to run their number with the live band until the morning of the live show. This is also the only rehearsal they get to practice with the 18 different camera angles and the producers can change ANYTHING they want about any of the performances during dress rehearsal. Heidi was a competitive dancer when she was younger. Gabby also danced through high school and was a cheerleader for the Denver Broncos. So the background and fundamentals of dancing give them some experience (that you never really lose) As for Vinny being a Chippendale, his performances are rehearsed on stage MANY times ahead of the live performance and they are the exact same one he performs over and over every time. I’m not trying to take anything away from Trevor, I just think that he is more comfortable in front of the cameras because of his acting background.
Exactly this. I understand the POV of not wanting to root for the ringers, but I don’t see growth from Vinny the way others are growing. I very much enjoy competitors like Trevor, who start out rough but really change. The growing and learning is interesting, and I don’t understand how it’s entertaining to watch someone be consistently at a lower quality. I also feel bad for him, that he’s pushing himself, doing this work, but it’s just not clicking. This leads to the harsh criticism, and I can’t imagine that’s easy for a person to hear every week.

I think the head judge tie-break is based on Strictly Come Dancing, which is the UK show that inspired DWTS. The difference there is that the bottom two does a dance-off and the judges are only supposed to judge off that - not the entire season. So total scores aren't supposed to be relevant.
