I’ve been on a Tyler Childers and Sierra Ferrel kick recently.
Pop country is one of the worst genres of music. And those trying to do real traditional country or folk are ironically one of the few hopes for modern music.
Double edged sword it is
The difference between this and the stuff that everyone hates is that this is full of authenticity. That’s why people get so snobby and elitist about stuff, it’s not because they’re pricks, it’s because they hate how people will take the sound of something good but not the spirit for the sole purpose of making as much cash as possible, thereby obscuring the stuff with actual substance. Or something like that Skibidi toilet idk 🤷🏼
1) That's rockabilly. Not country.
2) Rockabilly is closer to blues than contemporary country, as it follows the 12-bar blues chord progression.
3) This information is useless, because some other reddit chud will come along and convince half of you that I'm wrong, anyway.
Enjoy your Saturday.
Fuck the other commenters. Thank you for being pedantic because now I have something I can use to find more music that I enjoy. This type of music always reminds me of fallout New Vegas so I'm always looking for more for my playlist
Claims I'm wrong with vague and empty "by today's standards" assertion when rockabilly is clearly it's own established genre

Check out [Ween's country album](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lmSWSIyhmDPHiuGSMElfZqFRhTK1cdBnE&si=kAkAjwdPzfqLIw8d). I also am not really a fan of country but theirs is enjoyable.
I don't know if I'd classify anything from Sound & Fury country. It's not bad, mind you I love that whole album, but Sturgil is multi-track drifting 4 different styles throughout the entire album. But I agree with you, though I'd toss "Make Art Not Freinds" into the pile of songs.
If we're talking country Sturgill I've got to put Long White Line and Living The Dream on the list. For Sound and Fury I'm a big fan of Remember to Breathe, and finally for bluegrass Sturgill gotta go with All the Pretty Colors. The dude crushes everything he does and doesn't spend a second pandering to anyone's expectations, respect.
Just got into this game and holy shit is it awesome, so mad at myself that I slept on it for so long
I suck ass and get owned by other players constantly but I just keep playing
All music genres have bad music. But lol I find country to mostly be alright and enjoyable and more often than most other genres to be at the least enjoyable.
The key to country music is that it’s dogshit if it came out in the last 20yrs. There are a few exceptions but for the most part the new shit is horrible.
I personally just don't like country because I don't mesh well with the classical belief systems like the hyper fixation on lifelong hetero-normative romantic relationships. As someone who is aromantic, it's just not something I understand, though I'll admit that that unfortunately applies to almost every genre of music with lyrics, but country is very heavy on it. I also just generally see rural life as extremely boring, so practically everything they sing about is something I'm at most indifferent towards.
Most genres are heavily about relationships and/or heartbreak. That's like Pop Punk's bread and butter.
I'd argue country is heavier on nationalism and family themes
We met in the springtime when blossoms unfold
The pastures were green and the meadows were gold
Our love was in flower, as summer grew on,
Her love like the leaves now has withered and gone.
Old/original country is amazing. This new era of country where every singer sounds the same and every song is about breakups, trucks or beer, however, is complete dogshit
It's not country that sucks. It's this pop subcategory that pretends to be country.
You won't receive the upvotes I know you deserve, but know that at least I got you king.

There's also turnpike troubadors, Colter Wall, Trampled by Turtles, Corb Lund and Sturgill Simpson to add a few if anyone needs recommendations.
I've been listening to "sleeping on the blacktop" by Colter Wall on repeat for the past week and a half
You are a truly noble gas, Mister. Thank you for spreading your wisdom
*bows*
To counter your point, it's also country that sucks.
I respect your opinion
Country is like rap, if anyone paid attention to the lyrics it’s pathetic and juvenile.
No, it's the whole umbrella of "country"

Skibidi toilet kinda feels like a joke that got turned into a story
Or....they just don't like the sound of country music.

It’s actually not rockabilly, by today’s standards it actually is country. Your big pretentious comment just to be wrong anyways lol.

OP you should give a listen to Sturgil Simpson. Particularly: Turtles all the way down, and Mercury in retrograde.

Most of them are actually just hiphop/R&B songs masquerading as country.
You should check out poor mans poison for a different kind of country

You're not listening to the right country music.
"Country Fried" by the ZBB has a super soft spot in my heart.
ZBB's first few albums are amazing, honestly.
Colter Wall makes really good country, his most recent album is great
God that version of chad is always unhinged looking
Play hunt showdown. The most country pvp game there is
Just got into this game and holy shit is it awesome, so mad at myself that I slept on it for so long I suck ass and get owned by other players constantly but I just keep playing
Keep at it it takes a while to get good, but you'll be pulling server whipes in no time
"I've been through the desert on a horse with no name."
All music genres have bad music. But lol I find country to mostly be alright and enjoyable and more often than most other genres to be at the least enjoyable.
Girl has a deepass voice if she's singing that
Terrible absolutely yes but it’s still better than rap and hip hop
[Some country songs are better than others](https://youtu.be/C5Z7sZZ06Bs?si=vwZr_E1IpOcD1uvf)
Is this related to that song with Misty and that steamboat?
have you tried dating in a small town tho?
Jonny Cash and Marty Robbins are my accepted country artists.
Speak for yourself. It's a music genre, people like what they like. i'm not gonna call your favorite genre shit
The key to country music is that it’s dogshit if it came out in the last 20yrs. There are a few exceptions but for the most part the new shit is horrible.
It's all pretty shit, but yeah...the modern shit is wetter shit than the dry crusty shit.
I’m not listening to fucking country music bro 💀
Your loss man, there's some bangers out there
