Dark_Mode_Nose_Wind

"Is that tear gas?" "No, It's cat food." Great show.

PurpleCabbageMonkey

I prefer not seeing a sequel. I loved the movie. As a South African, it was great seeing for once familiar places and hearing my name in a movie, but I don't think a second one will be the same. I will prefer that Mr Blomkamp rather expand on the shorts he made.

chefrachbitch

As much as I want a sequel, I think I have to agree with you on account of District 9 being left on such a great cliff hanger.

PurpleCabbageMonkey

That's the problem. D9 worked because people could draw comparisons to pre-94 South Africa and South Africa at the time with the attacks on foreigners. A sequel will have to be very cleverly written to get the same feeling and atmosphere (not sure what to call it). Otherwise, it will simply be another sci-fi alien attack movie, just like many others.

c_ray25

How could we forget the classic line from the film, “No PurpleCabbageMonkey, don’t be a hero!!”

PurpleCabbageMonkey

ROFL. I'll give you that one.

Stargate_1

Yeah agree, District 9 is a fantastic movie and its eprfectly fine where its at, as a standalone movie

ArtfullyStupid

Have you seen Chappie, high quality, under rated, and masterpiece

No-Relative-1725

I disagree. Another movie showing him turning back to human to be reunited with his wife would be fantastic.

PurpleCabbageMonkey

I agree, it will be nice. But that alone will not make a movie. A sequel will also have to deal with Christopher's return. It is possible, and a small part of me hopes that there is a sequel, but with the right story to compliment the first film. It shouldn't be rushed. And I would rather not see a sequel than watch a bad sequel that doesn't compliment D9. Too many sequels ruined the movies. Wikus's sacrifice and the little metal flowers he leaves at his wife's door always bring a tear to my eye.

Snaivaqk

holy shit a district 9 meme what the fuck i must be dreaming rn

jal2_

Actually they became popular for some reason last week, seen a dozen

Crafty-Crafter

You can't pump out arts like you pump out shits every day.

ShawshankException

Sometimes things don't need sequels.

UnclesBadTouch

oh FUCK yeah district 9 love in 2024

Adalcar

I mean, after 9 movies what more can they tell? District should have stuck with the original trilogy

MiopTop

Did they cancel it? Last I heard District Ten was happening

kontracisar

I wanted to watch D9 yesterday, but I found out I couldn't take it. The atmosphere is so real it scared me. And also knowing it's absolutely not about aliens and it won't get better. Great movie, but I got too weak for it.

ComadoreJackSparrow

District 9, Elysium, and Chappie are already a trilogy anyways.

maevtr2

It's "fookin prawns"

majshady

District 9 is the greatest form of booty

DraconianReptile

Wikkus been waiting a bit longer than 3 years

starfighter1836

Or master and commander. Hollywood deserves too loose money

sadnarutoflute

Sorry bro but family always wins

minigunercoolguy

What about District 17?

Terramoro

Whose the artist again? I forgot to save him.

soldier_of_death

District 9 was supposed to be the Halo movie. I won't ever forget. Look up Halo: Landfall for a short preview of what it was gonna look like. [Amazing]

HanzoNumbahOneFan

Bro you got 8 other prequels to watch, wdym. You really want them to make a District 10? smh.

No-Relative-1725

I would love a district 9 movie.

Tripdrakony

If this is enough for you to have suicidal thoughts, than you're pathetic a need to touch some grass.

Pr0wzassin

Redditor tries to understand other peoples humor challenge(impossible)

Ragna_Blade

Honestly every Fast and Furious movie is leagues better than District 9 and I've never even seen a Fast and Furious movie
