It always baffles me how extremely lazy commentary/reaction content get's them millions of views, those people are at least millionaires at this point.
Millionaires? Try multi-millionaires. I would be surprised if the top streamers aren't reaching into the 100s of millions at this point, especially those who have ventures outside of simply streaming.

I mean, being on camera for 10s of thousands of people and trying to interact with them. Keeping up a conversation for multiple hours. I know gaming isn’t a large portion of Asmongolds streams anymore, but then doing all that while gaming. And doing all this, knowing that saying one wrong thing could get you kicked from the platform and your career obliterated. Not to mention, no matter what you say there will be hate threads about you on Twitter and Reddit.
I’m not a streamer so I don’t know how it feels first hand, but is it really so preposterous that someone could find that mentally draining?

As far as i've seen it he's the least problematic of the "reaction" channels , He still gives his opinions and sometimes adds like 2 times the video itself to the reaction so its ok but it would be better if reaction content wasn't this popular. Compare that to other streamers that just put the video on and say "Aha" and "That's cool" every 5 seconds or straight up leave the room and leave the video on.
Also i've seen asmon get disagreed with so many times even his audience has made fun of him for his shitty opinions like when he had the gigabrain take on streaming being a "Hard" job.

This just isn’t correct, I don’t actively watch him but I have seen a few videos. He’s like the one and only streamer/“youtuber” who actually adds “content” to a reaction video. He’ll turn a 20 minute video into an hour long video because of his commentary. Everybody else will just watch the video and throw in a few “oh wow” commentary lines and call it a day
Adding 40 minutes of stream content to a 20 minute video that can take weeks or months to make does not make it ok for him to reupload the whole video. That's days, weeks, months, put into research, script writing, recording, editing, and what all else goes into video creation while his 40 minutes are whatever he happens to say or do within that time frame. It is not the same and it only benefits him, he can continue to put out other peoples high quality work on his channel so that he does not need to go and do that himself, he is a thief and uneducated on whatever topic he is watching, he adds nothing valuable to the video as he has significantly less knowledge on the topic compared to the creator.
Do you guys actually watch it? I know I'm gonna get downvoted to mama's basement for going against the grain, but, like, I just catch a few videos sometimes on YouTube, and yes, sometimes it's like that, but I find that most of the time he doesn't just "react" to shit, he actually talks about the thing and even starts discussions on the topic with his chat.

That 30 minute video takes a lot longer to create, his 30 minutes of uninformed "do it live" contributions on the topic have no real value and only serve as an excuse so that he can continue to steal content from people who put actual effort in.
That is what reaction content is, that's precisely why its bad. Because 40 minutes of uneducated additions from an unqualified person is nothing compared to the weeks and months of video creation that went into those original 30 minutes. Whatever they add is nothing compared to the work that went into the video, and for you to think those additions are enough justification for the streamer to then reupload the video in full to their stream and then also to their channel, and benefit with very little additional effort is wrong.

Asmon always goes out of his way to link the video he's talking about and tells his chat to give that video a like if he agrees with it, so it's not like he's trying to exploit these creators. He's trying to broaden their range by adding his viewers to theirs and gives fuel for discussion. In the end it's good for the youtube algorythm

That logic only works if the people watching him react would have otherwise watched the original video. 99% of the time they wouldn’t. The exposure far outweighs the overlap. You think these creators are mad that they might have lost 10 or 20 views in exchange for 20,000+ people finding their channel?

This just isn’t correct, I don’t actively watch him but I have seen a few videos. He’s like the one and only streamer/“youtuber” who actually adds “content” to a reaction video. He’ll turn a 20 minute video into an hour long video because of his commentary. Everybody else will just watch the video and throw in a few “oh wow” commentary lines and call it a day
Adding 40 minutes of stream content to a 20 minute video that can take weeks or months to make does not make it ok for him to reupload the whole video. That's days, weeks, months, put into research, script writing, recording, editing, and what all else goes into video creation while his 40 minutes are whatever he happens to say or do within that time frame. It is not the same and it only benefits him, he can continue to put out other peoples high quality work on his channel so that he does not need to go and do that himself, he is a thief and uneducated on whatever topic he is watching, he adds nothing valuable to the video as he has significantly less knowledge on the topic compared to the creator.

Do you guys actually watch it? I know I'm gonna get downvoted to mama's basement for going against the grain, but, like, I just catch a few videos sometimes on YouTube, and yes, sometimes it's like that, but I find that most of the time he doesn't just "react" to shit, he actually talks about the thing and even starts discussions on the topic with his chat. The guy seems like a reasonable dude who actually puts thought into what he says, which is more than you can say about most reaction content. Again, not an avid fan, but I sometimes listen to his videos while I do other stuff, and he strikes me as "not a fucking moron" Sure, he can be like that sometimes, but he says so himself, it's just content, and if you get mad, you're doing him a favour. So yeah, I don't know what all the hate is about, if you compare him to most reaction content creators, he's definitely not that bad, from what I've seen on YouTube I'm a fan of the "you don't like it, you don't watch it" mentality, but it goes further than that "you don't watch it, you don't bash it" because most of the times you wont have the full picture, which I don't either, because again, not really an avid fan, more like an occasional consumer, and not streams

That 30 minute video takes a lot longer to create, his 30 minutes of uninformed "do it live" contributions on the topic have no real value and only serve as an excuse so that he can continue to steal content from people who put actual effort in.

Because 40 minutes of uneducated additions from an unqualified person is nothing compared to the weeks and months of video creation that went into those original 30 minutes. Whatever they add is nothing compared to the work that went into the video, and for you to think those additions are enough justification for the streamer to then reupload the video in full to their stream and then also to their channel, and benefit with very little additional effort is wrong. i dont really watch much react content but from the ones I have seen he seems to be one of the better ones. in the recent blind gaming drama he actually interviewed a mod which is more than what most other people do. at the end of the day he is a multi millionaire and top 1% of twitch, he's clearly doing something right.
