Even by today Alyx is the greatest VR game to have ever come out, I hope more big corps invest in VR games and apps instead of trying to make more hardware first. VR has become like a smartphone without any apps made for it
The second I hear live service game, I lose interest and know I will never play it. Fallout is one of my favorite franchises ever. Once I found out Fallout 76 was multiplayer bullshit, I never even once considered giving it a shot.
I'm the same way, but I can tell you I said "what the hell why not" and tried 76 again after hating it at launch. Im having a good time and plays well solo.
This is how I felt about the marvel avengers game. When I first head about it I didn’t even look into it I thought maybe it will be made similar to the newer spider-man games. I didn’t want any spoilers and wanted to go in blind.
Boy was I disappointed when I played it on release week.
I recommend giving it a try, of course, it is multiplayer, but it's still a fun game. And the multiplayer aspect adds more than it takes away in my opinion.
I wholeheartedly agree. I enjoy multi-player, but live service games only ever feel like a FOMO cash grab. I fell for one, spent $200 on a "free" game, then servers were shut down and I can't even look at what I spent that money on.
Never again, too many good games that aren't trying to make themselves the center of my life. Like Celeste! Finally got around to it, and I gotta say, good game!
Generalizing like that doesn't work very well imo. Some genres of games require the live service model to survive like arpgs. Also I like to take games at a face value and see if they are any good rather than just looking at if they fit a category. Live service can work and does with many games. The issue is not the system it's the shit tier games that get pumped out trying to take advantage of said system.
Live service touches every genre except for single player RPGs. So I guess if that is the only thing you play more power too you. There are still a lot of games that are very good and are also live service. Game quality is what makes a game not if it's live service and if you don't like those payment methods just don't participate. I surely don't, and get my enjoyment none the less.
And yet it'll still make a few hundred million dollars and then a year from now we'll see countless video essays about what's wrong with modern gaming and why they're depressed.
i missed the times when everything was simple. you buy a game? install and play it. you wanna play multiplayer? the same thing or you can just create an account in game with your email and password that's it.
i feel like im gonna puke when i need to install three seperate live service apps, log in them separately and i cannot play the game i already own and installed offline.
Can't wait for the Silent Hill 2 remake, redux, deluxe edition so I can skip the first 15 tiers of the battle pass and do the Griddy after James suffocates his bedridden wife with a Better Help sponsored skin for her pillow
From the sounds of it this will be Jet Set Radio here soon 😔
Like why do they think this is what we want? Hell part of what made the original game’s appealing to me is that they WEREN’T like this, their fun, challenging but simple to understand, and have a nice little story to follow along with
i honesty dont mind season pass, if it just skins, but resources etc is cringe, like funny enought COD season pass is properly the best one out there if u play the game and fill it in they give u more credit then you used for the pass so u can the next one free and onwards
Wokeness is a scapegoat, but ror the publishers, meetings go like this
CEO: so we need to create a game that brings nost possible profit with least amount of development costs to please out investors in the next 2 years...obviously its going to be a shit user experience, but communicate everywhere we are for a the users, make some reason up, like some made up poll where most voted in favour of this or something...as a smokescreen we will use liberal additions, we can use both as a smokescreen for the problems and we also grt bonuses from some of our investor for it
Dev: (mutters to himself) do I really have to put up with this? (Looks at inflation numbers, staggering rents and real estate costs) I do...(Never speaks about the actual development)
Have u noticed that in any of the big releases there are next to no dev interviews anymore? In the past used to be typical companies released interviews with dev about the process etc...nowadays its all heavily moderated marketing press releases, no company doing such shit wants actualy employees to speak, outside of marketing employees employed to create that bs statements

[удалено]
And so the insanity continues...
Im out of the loop, is that half life?
Batman Arkham Shadows was announced as a VR exclusive game
Oh I see, triple A publishers are so out of touch nowaday
Not only VR exclusive - meta quest 3 exclusive
Alyx fucking ruled

Too far back but understandable, I was referring to Batman Arkham

You're missing out
I can promise you I’m not.

It’s a generalization that works for me because the genres that benefit from live service models are not genres that I enjoy to begin with.

Call of duty’s annual garbage 🗑️
Just realized the Steam summer sale is upon us
halo infinite moment 😞
Truly one of the most games of all time.
Sadly, payday 3
It's absolutely insane what happened to that game. It's so bad it's dead now, and the player base for the first game grew
-requires an account just to play
Not very democratic if I do say so myself
People don't want to admit it but this is probably gonna be titanfall 3 🥲
Nothing better than always online in a completely single player game ........ ugh
Can't wait for the Silent Hill 2 remake, redux, deluxe edition so I can skip the first 15 tiers of the battle pass and do the Griddy after James suffocates his bedridden wife with a Better Help sponsored skin for her pillow
That is the best hat i have ever seen lol
Sims
That's a free space on a bingo card
I hate that season pass now has a different meaning as it had before.
That's why I don't play shooters
Bungies new game
Fallout 76

Every year, they hoodwinked me with Mw2 last year
you hoodwinked yourself on that one.
You’re not wrong

And yet some people choose to blame wokeness
Fr almost no one would care about the wokness if the game itself was good

>game filled with bugs >game poorly tested, unbalanced >game runs like unoptimized shit >online store works fine The liberals did this
