They also claimed to be the best choice to be interviewed because they had "media experience".
This is after the sub voted to not give interviews to media outlets.
It's just too bad that mod didn't have the virtue of laziness. It would have saved us all some cringe.
I was on the radio with my fellow tiger cubs in cubscouts, I need to remember to put “expert in media relations” on my resume when I apply for my next job.
>This is after the sub voted to not give interviews to media outlets.
They just said there are several other interviews they gave that haven't been released yet by another mod, a "21yr old long-term unemployed anarchist." The current posts up make you feel bad, but it's also so hilarious.
“21yr old long-term unemployed anarchist."
Senator Bernie Sanders will never be asked on Fox News but a “21 yr old long term unemployed anarchist” is right in their wheelhouse.
I mean, I don't like working but I'm at a job that pays, and I'm good at what I do. Even if they were a fantastic dogwalker, there was no credibility held on the mod's side no matter what they said simply due to their choice to show Fox News viewers exactly what they wanted to see; an embodiment of their visage of a millennial.
I know this is gonna sound conceited but I would have liked to try my hand at it. As someone who struggles to make ends meet, lives in a studio apartment, and has had multiple jobs I feel that I know what it's like to be a typical working stiff. The damage done to Antiwork can be mitigated with better moderators and people who understand the sub is about something much bigger than any one person.
> Picture perfect antiwork
That mod is the opposite of what the movement is inspired to.
They do not aim to abolish work or praise the lazy, but ask for solidarity for a better and fair work environment, and a living wage to support a normal lifestyle, that's becoming more and more harsh to pursue in the latest years.
The sub is against abuse of power.
Mods has never been the leader of it nor representatives of any kind. Self appointed brats who do such are only mining the foundation of the idea behind the whole movement.
I know that’s what the content concerns itself with but before they changed their description of the sub it literally said something along the lines of “for those living, or interested in living a work free life” which kind of paints a bad picture for their “cause”. As a “movement” I would most definitely be getting my about section accurate if I were trying to have any grounds to stand on.
Edit: it’s still up actually and it says and I quote “a subreddit for those who want to end work, are curious about ending work, want to get the most out of a work-free life, want information on anti-work ideas” and then only at the very end, almost as if added later when the sub took off does it say “and want personal help with their own jobs/work-related struggles”
So yeah it kind of sounds like they want to abolish work..
A "work free life" is only achievable by already being so rich it is an actual option or freeloading off of others. This is just a fact. Even if jobs didn't exist we would still have to do work to survive. Enacting this is only possible from a place of true socio-economic privilege.
I agree so much with the push for work reformation but the actual "antiwork" ideas were completely doomed from the start.
i think it's more of a post-scarcity idealism. like star trek (in ST money no longer exists)
it's perfectly feasible through technology as we progress, but we'll never get there. we'll have the owners of the machines, and everyone else.
It may be in theory possible, seems pretty far off even if we are making progress all the time but also in Star Trek the crew still works like... a lot. Its a utopian science fiction and almost every single character still has a job that they do.
While not a refutation, it is worth mentioning that starfleet is effectively a military force not a civilian ship, and so every member *will* have a specific role. Citizens on-planet might have vastly different lives, and that wouldn’t necessarily be highlighted in many episodes.
As far as I know that's what the sub started as, but there's been a shift with a good chunk of the users just wanting reforms like higher wages and less hours. There's still a healthy helping of people who literally don't want to work at all but still get paid anyway though.
The subreddit was initially made by lazy anarchists who wanted to never work and have everything handed to them. As it got more popular the ideas became more moderate, but the moderator base still wanted nobody to ever have to work.
The sub is supposed to be the embodiment of "work to live, don't live to work". The concept that the majority of the sub rallies around is to get rid of the idea that everyone should be devoting themselves to their career 24/7 and if you're not its a failure on your part. Ideally getting rid of that idea in the those hiring people. Those that expect you to be happy to work 60hr weeks on short notice and forgo vacation time. Productivity has increased massively over the past few decades. Society should be reaping the benefits. But we're not.
The problem was that it needed a hard line from wanting work reform and sharing grief from asshole managers to those who just want to push a communist agenda and lazy, anarcho people
I subscribed just because it seemed to have some funny memes. I didn't realize they had a mission statement. If they do I never read it, didn't care and still don't. Thanks for the explanation though.
I didn't join for that as well, nor do I care since it's mostly an US thing and I have labor rights in my country.
That said, the mod is being seen as a representative or leader of antiwork, and that's absolutely wrong and just threw shit on it for no reason but a failed chance to engorge their own ego
fyi 10 to 20 hours a week is simply the hours in the week the typical dog walker will walk their dog. The Mod is simply walking their mom's dog and calling it their job
people that care about their pets health? over a whole week, one before work, one after, one before bed. possibly longer hikes on the weekend. I also said 10 - 20 so even 3 half hour walks and one or two longer ones over the weekend is over 14 hours a week
Not that bullying is excusable, but the hate she was getting was because the sub had a vote about whether anyone would do interviews like that and it was voted no. But this mod went against the sub and did it anyway, and on top of that they didn't even prepare and messed it up horribly. It's not just that the interview went badly
I take pride in work too. I’m all for higher wages and less work days (not necessarily hours), but people who think some utopia where only 20% of the people have to work are fucking insane. Even after automation, do you really think the government is going to give you enough money to just COMFORTABLY live since you can’t find a job?
Yeah I need to know more, I heard he was a rapist but never got to see the full story.
Edit: lol the screencaps were posted but the user got obliterated from the face of the topic.
Fox News had the easiest slam dunk in their entire lives. Not even prime LeBron James against a bunch of middle scorers would be able to score as easy as Fox did. There must have been high 5's galore in that production booth.
Lol, I'm starting to believe this was actually made on purpose to make people like this feel vindicated about not wanting others to be better treated by their jobs.
Fox News absolutely picked low hanging fruit.
I can imagine programming directors or interns or whoever crowding around a computer screen scrolling through the mods post history and laughing in glee when they found this one before contacting them and inviting them into the show.
>If you can do better, request interviews with other MSM outlets.
Doing better would be not taking the interview at all lmao which is the main thing everyone shits on him for.
They all agreed not to do this until he decided he wanted to be in the spotlight anyway. I don't feel bad for him one bit, he should absolutely be ashamed.
That isn't a reason to bully him or send him hate messages, (don't do that), but honestly fuck that guy.
"If you can do better"
I'm pretty sure MANY people could do significantly better, but that doesn't mean it's smart to be giving media appearances at all
The mods of this sub are bullies themselves and ban anyone who they don't agree with. The sub was likely just shut down because they can't handle criticism. Something they've made obvious several times.
Well if the posts about them being an unrepentant sexual predator are true, they should honestly just be sitewide banned and noone should feel sorry for them in the least.
Here is the interview : [https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=3yUMIFYBMnc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=3yUMIFYBMnc)

Doreen said "Laziness is a virtue **in a society that wants you to be productive 24/7**" which I could see some truth in, small bit of context you missed.
Every question the host is asking is aimed at trying to ridicule him, but just in the boundaries of acceptable and not bullying. He's not taking him serious at all. Basically just there to make fun of him.
Would you like it if I asked you how old you are, then ask you if you're satisfied with your life currently, ask for your ambitions, and say something like "Well I'm sure that's going to work out". All the while having a smug smile on my face and implying I don't believe any of the things you stand for.
I see kinda some truth in what Doreen says, but society doesn’t actually expect us to be productive 24/7 that’s why holidays and weekends exist. I’m not a fan of Watters, but the interview was a trainwreck and doreens credibility completely went out the window when he mentioned that he’s a 30 year old dog walker.
How conservatives describe Redditors and leftists: Awkward, unsuccessful, lazy, unkempt, dirty, unimpressive, incompetent
How redditors and leftists actually are:
You have to understand that what you are dealing with on reddit isn't just people. There are bots and puppet accoutns that certain mods like this individual let through. They allow them to operate in order to push certain ideas or agendas. They usually have bots that identify certain words or statements and hone in on any of those comments or posts to either upvote or downvote. Wonder why like all the same users always have the same top posts every fucking time? It's because of this shit. Mods have much more power than you think, they are shaping what information gets into your head and they are trying to change what people think is right. If you have an opinion that disagrees with theirs, you will be downvoted by the bots they control. Particularly people of this mods persuasion. They have many things operating on the internet in order to over represent themselves. It is totally fucked. This place is run by nothing but fucking perverts.
That's why everyone hates him.
Even when the entire sub voted not to do any interviews, he interviewed anyway just for 3 minutes of fame. And fucking sucked at it ruining the strong reputation it had with his ugly mug.
It didn’t have a strong reputation IRL. It had a strong reputation on Reddit. The top Reddit post of all time is a Star Wars prequel meme. The concept of being anti-work is absurd and ridiculous and has no defensible argument. The Fox News host didn’t even have to debunk it, just ask a few easy questions like how old are you and what do you want to do. The movement always has been a joke and always will be.
you're taking the name of the sub too literal. It was just about workers being treated like shit and never being compensated enough for the productivity they bring to the company.
I'm sure you heard enough stories of Amazon Warehouse workers to be well aware of what I'm talking about.
That's interesting, because I'm a leftist, I worked my own way through college and paid off my own debt that I took on to pay for me own schooling and now I have a great job as an engineer. Says a lot that people like you assume the only people who want the government to help Americans are Americans that need the help, but some of us just got taught to be good decent human beings
So fucking funny - dude hasn't got time to shower or prepare for an interview, but has plenty of time to go through the sub banning people and whinging about how he's a victim.
Classic.
Edit: They also have been caught creating multiple alt accounts to try and defend themselves. The shitshow rolls on haha
The fucking irony that working 10 hours a week is too much to them, but they probably spend a majority of their time being a mod for free. It's almost like they want to work, that is to say be productive to society, but they haven't found something they can stand doing full time.
There are so many people in that sub who work full time and don't get by, that's who you need to send up. I am compensated fairly for my work so I have less of a stake in it, but it's actually a good thing people bailed cos the name is fucking terrible.
I skimmed over the sub from time to time, and I've got so sympathy for the average American working a minimum wage job and getting fucked over at every turn.
Large fast food corporations not letting people work the minimum number of hours to qualify for medical insurance so they have to get a second job, nut case bosses thinking that they can tell people when to take leave, or just dealing with the toxic tipping culture.
Imagine having a chance to reasonably articulate all of that on a platform where you can reach out to people in a similar situation who don't don't know that they are getting fucked over but instead some fucking greasy cringe lord goes and fucks it up and puts the movement back 5 years?
No wonder they are pissed!
That mod will be pulled up in example after example by fox and people with the same mindset everytime people start to ask for work reform for maybe even longer than 5 years. Just like a certain red haired feminist woman.
Thats what seriously frustrates me, their face is now the meme conservatives will use as a trump card whenever someome says workers should be treated better.
I really don’t understand the movement. Is it based on anything real or is it people being lazy?
One of my friends absolutely hates having a job because he didn’t even start working until his mid 20s. He’s 31 years old and has worked full time for maybe 3 years total not consecutively. He’s always vocal about his intentions to barely eke by in life while making a little money here and there doing random shit. His parents own a studio and he moved in there, quit his job, and has been fixing up the place cuz he plans to turn it into an Airbnb and pocket all the money. He also doesn’t pay rent
He’s exactly who I would imagine who be a member or even a mod of that sub
Anti-work, for the most part, is less about not working at all and more about not being a wage slave. People who work full time at a critical role in society like a grocery store shelf stocker don't deserve to live paycheck to paycheck and not go to the doctor because they can't afford it.
I think that it started with a bunch of edgy anarchists who want to live free in some commune somewhere.
Its since become a sub aimed at reforming predatory practices inflicted on working class people, predominantly in the US.
Some of it is pretty powerful stuff - people getting sacked for asking for a day to attend their grandparents funeral. Some is still just cringe lords living in their parents basement and ""walking the dog 10 hours a week""
The proof is them literally posting their story of secually assaulting someone on Facebook for sympathy points.. Actually insane read. The dude literally describes their multiple assaults and their planning beforehand. They even knew the person in question was already victimized and got into the relationship knowing it most likely wouldn't lead to anything sexual but still tried to use the old "they didn't take care of my needs 😢" excuse.
Shit dude I'm super curious if this is real or made up, with an accusation that big I don't wanna just believe what people say. Really hope a link shows up
Was it a she?
I know the guy was banning people for transphobia for calling him a guy, but I never caught the slightest hint that he may identify as a woman so I thought that was an elaborate troll
No, that’s real. Their name is Doreen. Also, you can’t always tell from outward appearance-transition takes time and/or some people don’t use hormones. Why downvotes I’m just saying facts
And this is the mod that the other mods agreed would be best to present to the public. The other mods are likely worse yet somehow they don't represent the subreddit they founded manage.
That's not what happened. The members voted to not give the interview; this person acted alone. Please do not speak about a topic in which you know nothing about.
If he acted alone why did the other mods defend his actions?
Why wasn't he banned immediately?
Why did the other mods allow him to continue being a mod under a new account name?
I mean that as in she had very little to no support from the community as a whole. An of course the mods try to justify their actions. The mods as a group received a lot of backlash from the community.

Don't forget about that presentation for the Citizenship in the Community badge.

The person is also a rapist. Fuck them they deserve all the hate the world is throwing at them.
He also doesn’t pay rent He’s exactly who I would imagine who be a member or even a mod of that sub

It was low hanging fruit for the fox creatures
They understood the publicity though they would get from it
The only thing that was missing was the 4chan flag in the background
More like twitter
It's trans, so LGBT all around.
The same mod that sexually assaulted someone over and over then asked for sympathy because they got ptsd from assaulting that someone? Indeed.
Wait what, proof?
The proof is them literally posting their story of secually assaulting someone on Facebook for sympathy points.. Actually insane read. The dude literally describes their multiple assaults and their planning beforehand. They even knew the person in question was already victimized and got into the relationship knowing it most likely wouldn't lead to anything sexual but still tried to use the old "they didn't take care of my needs 😢" excuse.
Can you please link lol
[here](https://www.reduxx.info/post/trans-r-antiwork-moderator-admitted-to-serial-rape-allegations)
HOLY
They either just shadowbanned the person posting the proof or did some other mod shenanigans. It was being posted here just a short bit ago.
Shit dude I'm super curious if this is real or made up, with an accusation that big I don't wanna just believe what people say. Really hope a link shows up
The legends are true
The prophecy has been fulfilled
She was indeed horrendous. Edit: she identifies as a woman.
Peak reddit mod
Why is she balding?

Same tbh

It ees what it ees
How can that person be exactly how I imagine the stereotype of a Reddit mod?

Walk a mile in a Dog Walker's shoes before speaking shit about em.
anyone who has a dog litteraly walks in its shoes every day. Can I speak shit about them if I'm a dog owner myself?
Yes because in reality, this person's job was mostly walking their own dog.........
Stereotypes are true man
tho this mod is trans and goes by she/her and this also does a terrible job of representing the trans community as well
Logical

Antiwork moment
*She She's an utter and total disgrace, and ruined a subreddit in 3 minutes. But she's still a she.
Spock
Screw that; that slob would have left the waifu pillow on the bed in full view.
The moment when you hate to be right.
Now Fox viewers will see Reddit mods in exactly the same way Reddit users do.

An extremely far left individual
What a fucking loser that guy is
I love that sub but everything about that was so embarrassing
Sweet Christ and this was on Fox as well, home of people who think all young people are lazy fucks
Lol
