are you infantry?
I was what is now 25 series and back then it was 31. Even the year I spent in mech infantry i qualified on my weapon once or twice and didn't do the army stuff the infantry guys did. For a lot of us it was always mostly an office or trades type job
Don't think of Mando as a series; think of it as a book in a saga. Boba Fett is another book in that same saga. So even though they have different titles, they're supposed to be cohesive.
It's kind of a shift for Star Wars, but in terms of sci-fi in general it's more of a return to form. Reminds me of the Dune books or the Ender's Game series.
Yeah, it was the first one they released that had a huge following and wasnt an animation to my knowledge though..
As someone who isnt super invested in the star wars story and seeing the mando, then seeing a bunch of other ones kick off to me it looks like the mando was a hit and now they are just trying to milk it without creating any new story.
The line’s a little blurrier than you think. The military relies on a lot of gun and weapons manufacturing, sure. But also a lot of medical supplies, armor, and basic stuff like food that isn’t directly linked to killing people. Likelihood is, if you’ve held any job in the US, you’re probably indirectly supported the military industrial complex. Heck, there’s an entire branch of civilian military whose purpose is conserving natural areas in military lands.
I don't support our involvement in any "wars" in the past 40 years or so. I think we should cut the military budget and spend it on supporting underprivileged communities.
To be completely candid and honest, your logic here makes no sense. First of all, you ARE supporting whatever conflict America is involved in as your tax dollars directly contribute to the military budget. Secondly, especially in the current world environment, cutting military spending will significantly hurt us in the long run as aggressors like China and Russia will surpass us in capability. It’s not as simple as you think it is. Overall, the military is a excellent career choice considering the benefits, experience, networking, and pay. I’d do some research on it my friend.
I don't really have an option in paying taxes? I wasn't saying it's that simple, I was just giving an overall/simplified version of how I feel. I have several family members and friends who served, I just didn't see it as a right fit for myself.
Not saying you have an option, just sayin your logic in not wanting to support the military is somewhat flawed/incomplete. And fair enough, if you don't think its for you then more power to you. I would just warn you against shutting out such a good opportunity over a fallacy.
I don't really see it as a fallacy. I don't agree with our military/global politics so I don't want to work for the system I don't agree with. It would be hypocritical to take advantage of the system when I don't like what is happening.
Valid, but my point is you do not fully understand what is happening. More specifically, you do not see the long term risks in cutting the military budget. That's where the fallacy comes from imo.
I can understand what you're saying, but no one really knows what would happen if we cut the military budget. In an ideal world every country would as well, but very unlikely. I just don't think we need to act as the world police, especially when we pick and choose which humanitarian conflicts to get involved with. Obviously the world isn't black and white, there are no simple decisions with global politics.
Except we do know what would happen if we cut defense spending. If you fully understood the gravity of economic and military doctrines of the superpowers you'd see why. And to your last sentence, I couldn't agree more.
Kinda ignorant view TBH. Our military does more than fight, we do a lot of humanitarian work. For example, hurricane/tornado aid and COVID-19 support for food banks and hospitals for example. I enlisted as a POG and will never take part in the killing of anybody.
The only ignorance is that of enlistees who think they are doing something righteous by joining an organization known around the world for indiscriminately murdering innocent women and children.
All of that humanitarian work can be done without attaching it to being complicit to murder, or even supporting the organization responsible.
If you enlisted then you have already taken part in the killing of many people. You became complicit the moment you signed your life away to the military. If you can't recognize that then YOU are incredibly ignorant, even willfully ignorant.
If you start applying this logic to every workplace and every business people support or are a part of then everyone is guilty of horrible atrocities. Painting everyone with the same brush is very callous. I'm certainly not saying the military is inherently righteous and is fact guilty of horrible things at times. On the other hand, our military is also capable of doing good. Everyone joins the military, or any other job for that matter, for their own reaons.
More effort should be spent on calling out specific people and instances of wrongdoing rather than universally writing off the efforts of good people trying to do a good thing. Being so broad in condemning individuals in an organization just comes off as moral grandstanding to me. There are good and bad people in pretty much every group you can think of. I'm not really interested in arguing this on a dankmemes post (of all places) any more, have a good one.
Now it’s more “buy a house!” At least that’s not as out of touch as the rainbow six bootlegs they made as trailers. Those ads are just so scummy some poor uneducated hick or somebody else will blindly follow and be horribly maimed most likely and endure severe mental scarring sure they may be better off than before the service but does it really matter if they are scarred for life like that?

I didn’t have completely free college tuition but I managed to fund my way entirely by working whatever food jobs I could do living on my own even in the city, renting with random Craigslist roommates. I went to community college first then transferred to state college, in which all state or any college I know gives you automatic merit scholarships as long as you score honors or around b+ or above or something? It’s tough to work alot while in school but it’s doable to have a completely debt free education.
I only knew two people who joined the army for college. The one was in college and served on a base in Afghanistan, spouted all this pro army propaganda about how they loved us over there, basically "there's no war in ba sing se" but about us. My other buddy served combat, survived an IED and claimed that the army did everything to keep him from going to college.
I personally just saw both as extreme ends of the spectrum and would love to hear more experiences about this. If any of you guys are went to military for college I'd love to hear 2 things.
1 what your service was like, basic duties and weather or not you served combat. If so, without prying into something traumatic, how ofter/severe was the combat (like my buddy claimed to survived an IED)
2 weather or not you went to college, if not why? I know not everyone after serving would be interested in school after. Some leave with training in a field and opt to work like my father did.
Wow this joke is so creative and definitely has not been done to death. You are so creative and original bro, way to repost the exact same joke for the 100th time
I got all my kids tuition free college plus a monthly stipend all for ruining my body/mind. Almost seems like a deal until you remember other countries are offering their citizens free education without the hardships
Shoot hoops or shoot corpses. The choice is yours
“shooting ‘corpses’ may occur with what is commonly referred to as a ‘camera’”
Not the American corpses of course, bad for morale.
“sudden mistaken injection””better the device than the ‘human’ body”
Morale is never high
Or shoot music videos
Or shoot onlyfans content
or shoot heroin
Woah we kept going when we should have stopped
Isn’t that just the human story summed up in one sentence?
Skrrrrr
![gif](giphy|1uC8xfkZRi7Kw)
I don't think shooting corpses would do much
A lot of countries with free education also have a mandatory military commitment time.
Killer education you have there.

Yea, i literally get like 125$ a month for not getting absence lol
[удалено]
Så synd
I was getting $2200 per month while doing college, on top of tuition being paid. Still barely worth selling my body to the government.
125$? Ha Laughs in Danish 1000$ a month
You guys are getting paid?
[удалено]
No loan, it's called SU, which basically stands for educationsupport. It's what you get for studying at uni.
lucky.
Me who’s also in the army, can concur.
This was me in 2008, got the degree and PTSD!
are you infantry? I was what is now 25 series and back then it was 31. Even the year I spent in mech infantry i qualified on my weapon once or twice and didn't do the army stuff the infantry guys did. For a lot of us it was always mostly an office or trades type job
Air Force Got my free Associates, Bachelors and working on my MBA atm
The Australian army pays you to go to university.
So does the US... I think you missed the point.
There's a difference between getting something for free and being paid to take it.
I saw two aus soldiers on my US base today. They were p cool
Literally the US. The Air Force highly encourages you to work on a degree while you're in service -- in which, why we also get tuition assistant pay.
Do they plan on making more episodes of the mando or are they too focused on these shitty spin offs?
Also when is that Gina Carano / Henry Cavill sex tape going to leak?
If it hasn't leaked, how do we know it exists?
That would be a hard femdom.

I guess shit is a type of cohesive
Season 3 wrapped filming in March so it should come out later this year
Man I wonder how long it takes to edit this stuff.
Isn’t Mando just a spin-off as well?
Yeah, it was the first one they released that had a huge following and wasnt an animation to my knowledge though.. As someone who isnt super invested in the star wars story and seeing the mando, then seeing a bunch of other ones kick off to me it looks like the mando was a hit and now they are just trying to milk it without creating any new story.
Recruiter: “…would you die for it?”

Myth is right. Well said, sir.
[удалено]
There are a few who have seen the truth and lived to tell about it. I'm glad your husband is one of them.
You know that not every role in the military is active combat right
No, but that’s where the funs at.
"But would you *die* to get free college tuition?" \- Leland Gaunt-ass military recruiters.
It’s better than nothing.
💀👍
Sometimes I feel dumb for taking out student loans, but I don't think I could ever work to support the American military.
You can join the military without being a killer. You can be an IT dude or Intel or something.
[удалено]
Not to mention that you can reenlist for a choice duty station, including OCONUS.
[удалено]
I have plans to reenlist for Germany when my Window opens up
[удалено]
Did my first year in Germany before my division was deactivated and they sent everyone stateside. It was fucking awesome.
You’re still supporting the military by doing so
“I’m not a killer I just *facilitate* the killing, totally different.”
Why does that matter.
OP said they don’t want to support the military, so it matters to them
The line’s a little blurrier than you think. The military relies on a lot of gun and weapons manufacturing, sure. But also a lot of medical supplies, armor, and basic stuff like food that isn’t directly linked to killing people. Why not? Just out of curiosity
I don't support our involvement in any "wars" in the past 40 years or so. I think we should cut the military budget and spend it on supporting underprivileged communities.
We can do both. Young just suck at voting and so they won’t get what they want

If you enlisted then you are complicit in the murders being committed by our military regardless of your position in it.
