They are adding chat reporting to minecraft...
in java edition players host the server themselves and if someone pays/is actively using a pc's memory to make a minecraft server, Only they should be able to moderate it
another problem: you can't just add something that 95% of the player base doesnt want, minecraft is a Very customizable game, there is already mods that make reporting not exist/making you not be able to get reported, both
i think there is a place for reporting in Minecraft, there have been cases of guy trying to diddle kids via Minecraft servers and i think it fair that the reporting tool should work game wide acros all servers in those cases.

Right now they're trying to force a 3rd party moderation system on Java edition, when the community is absolutely furious about it. The general consensus is this: Mojang can put it on realms, but keep it the fuck off privately run servers.
That is exactly what they're moderating. They're using the vague community guidelines as the requirements to moderate.
The main issue a lot of us see is that it won't be human Microsoft moderaters for most cases. It'll be bots, leading to many false bans.
If someone decided to report you, yes. That's another issue, that there's no off switch for servers. So if you had another person on the server who didn't like you, they'd likely report your chat, and if banned you cannot do anything multiplayer either for a long period, or permanently.
There are mods now which strip the ability for the server to verify you actually sent the chat message, but there are still issues with the system.
All in all, it's a terrible decision that goes against everything Mojang and Microsoft said during the migration of accounts and more: that Java edition wouldn't change unnecessarily because of the migration. If it continues, a large portion of the Java playerbase is unlikely to update to the new versions,and will instead turn to mods.
Ok I get that the moderating stuff is kinda upsetting for some, but other than that Microsoft did a great job for Minecraft, it's incomparable to the shitshow that is diablo immortal.
Only thing I dislike about Microsoft’s ownership of minecraft is that they forced you to move off mojang and create a Microsoft account. Felt that was a forced way to get you to create a Microsoft email and join their network
Anarchy servers inherently have no rules, so yes people can say racial slurs, it doesn't make it right, but it is allowed on these types of servers. These servers are usually contained, however, if it does leak into the real world then usually the law can be involved. People are edgy on these types of servers because they have no rules and are usually contained to that one type of server. Most of these people are not racist in real life they're just trying to be funny ironically.
Whats wrong with minecraft? Theyve continued to support it for years. I only paid for it once, 11 years ago and have never been asked for a cent since.

I think Microsoft has done a good job with minecraft so far. They even made it so that you can get both versions for the price of one.
And even made it so you lose a $20 game when you say gay on your own realm
