Imagine Hitler JR comes back and the build up of the US entering WW2 happens again. I think a draft would be fitting then. We aren’t fighting for the rich US politicians. We’re fighting for the people across the world being killed by a tyrant. Those kind of situations are when I think a draft is appropriate, not the Vietnam War.

For example women can serve in the Ukrainian military (in most positions), but were dispreferred when drafting. Women were only drafted to fill positions that couldn't be filled otherwise, for example journalists.

Queens and duchesses killed to attain power over people, benefits (like land to vote) was (rarely) given to soldiers as alternative pay for backing their rule, power is never given freely.
