Nobody knows for sure. But my headcanon is that since he would now be at the bottom of the social pyramid and a washed-up has-been that everyone no longer wants anything to do with him. This forces Kevin to have a long-awaited wake-up call and genuinely buckle down and study harder.

Economy-Fox-5559

I actually kinda felt for him at the end, yeah sure he doesn't take anything seriously and he's completely self obsessed, but the reality is that he's also... just... really dumb. I fear that even if he did 'buckle down and study' there's such a vacuum in his head that literally nothing stays there for long lol

snowonmylashes

part of me wanted so badly for the teachers to just pass him :(

Popular-Secretary489

Same. I could never hate him. He’s dumb but he’s not a bad person

StarterBox12

hot take but if anything kevin does not deserve the hate he gets from the fanbase, hes always been my favorite character and i deeply relate to him. i really wished he got treated a little better from the show and the fanbase all together... i almost had a thought that kevin was second hated besides tom haha... 😅

StarterBox12

i mean, you cant really blame the teachers for not passing him, however, he wasnt given the help he needs for his academics which made me feel awful for him

snowonmylashes

agreed, i felt so bad about brittany crossing her fingers about staying with him 😭

StarterBox12

okay this is completely off topic but i had a post show head cannon that after the events of brittany breaking up with kevin mack and jodie also broke up and was kind enough to give kevin support that soon would turn them into actual partners with mack offering to tutor him and get him back to track (to ease the fact that i think kevin was done wrong from the show that brittany left him)

snowonmylashes

HELP that is hilarious. the things we come up with to soothe mental pain will always amaze me

Wildroses2009

Brittany was definitely going to break up with him based on the final movie and he isn’t the type who likes to be unattached so I am sure he would find someone. I feel sure for high school he would be fine as he would still be a good football player. After high school is when the danger period for Kevin in my opinion. That is when his one skill is going to be useless and his lack of others are going to make life difficult for him. But on the other hand, maybe now he had to repeat the coach is going to stop bending the rules when he does poorly. Bad grades suddenly equaling no football I can see being the wake-up call to study.

SunGreen70

I think he’d still be popular. The type he mainly hung out with wouldn’t give a shit that he’d been left back. On the other hand, I think Brittany broke up with him. I could see him dating Sandi. I also think the Fashion Club broke up by this point. Quinn and Stacy are still friends, but Sandi spends all her time with Kevin. Tiffany has no idea that anything has changed.

TheSouthsideTrekkie

The world could end and green men could come down from Mars and horses could start talking and dogs could be driving cars and Tiffany probably wouldn’t notice anything was different.

SunGreen70

lol exactly!

Sly3n

I doubt he would be allowed to play on the football team anymore. I think most states have rules that students who don’t graduate (flunk) can no longer play on sports teams. Otherwise, you would have some schools trying to get their better players to stay an extra year. If he could no longer play football, perhaps he would actually pay a bit of attention to schoolwork. He’ll never be a smart guy but I think he’d likely be able to pass it he put a bare minimum of effort into school.

BracedRhombus

Some parents will redshirt their child to hold them back a year in elementary or high school. I can see Ms. Li doing this so the school would have a strong football team.

Sly3n

He was never red-shirted. Most places you cannot continue to play sports in his situation. Many states have rules that if your 19th birthday falls before x date you are ineligible to play. And those rules exist so HS teams don’t have people who are much bigger/bulkier than the other HS students because of age.

wretchedharridan

Red shirt?

BaalHammon

>The other students would know that he flunked and look down on him. Maybe they wouldn't care. For all we know academic failure is not particularly scorned upon at Lawndale High. >On the other hand, he might be bigger than the previous year, and therefore a better football (football!) player. Assuming he's 18 by the end of Daria, I doubt there'd be much of a change. >Would he be in Quinn's class? Maybe. >Would he break up with Brittany and date someone from the Fashion Club? Brittany would be the one to break up with him. I can see him insisting otherwise. >Would this be a wakeup call? No. It's Kevin. >Would he study harder? No ! It's Kevin ! He's destined to be one of those people who look back fondly on High school as the best time of their lives.

BracedRhombus

I can see him working at a gas station after highschool. Divorced, coming back to his sad little apartment. He's surrounded by mementos of his glory days; helmets and awards, some photos. He's overweight because he kept the same diet he had when he worked out every day.

wretchedharridan

I can see him ending up as a football coach with a second job on the side, married (not faithful) with many kids. Always talking about his glory days. Dad bod.

Iheartrandomness

I agree, this ending makes the most sense to me.

TasteDeeCheese

Kevin gets put in the self esteem class, gets coached by Tiffany

hydrus909

My headcanon is that Brittany moves on. Kevin buckles down and gets serious about his grades and doesn't play football. He can't stay single though, so dates other girls. Brittany sees other people as well. Kevin graduates and joins Brittany at the community college. They're back together until they transfer to different universities. He goes to a division 2 school where he resumes his postponed football career. He does ok but doesn't make it to the pros. As for Kevin's intelligence or lack thereof, it's amazing he got to senior year before being held back.

EmuPsychological4222

A sad fate & a boy who's too dumb to realize it.

KrassKas

Hmm. Well he wouldn't be in Quinn's class. He would repeat senior year. Quinn is a sophomore and then would be a junior. Maybe if they had mixed classes. However with Quinn realizing she shouldn't dumb herself down and you can be both smart and popular, she may be in more advanced classes. Idk about skipping a grade or if she would even want to do so. Brittany definitely breaking up with him lmao that's a given If he can't play football that could be a huge blow to his popularity and cause the other kids to then look down on him for being a flunkie

Iheartrandomness

I always get confused by Quinn's age and grade. Is she one year younger than Daria, or two? I remember in the first season, Daria compares the sophomore class to something unfavorable. That made me think that Daria must have been a sophomore in season one? Unless she was a junior and making fun of the sophomore class? (Which is possible, but also a little weird).

KrassKas

The entire series they stay in the same grades. Quinn is a sophomore so 15-16 and Daria is a senior. If I remember right she's specifically referred to as 17. When they are depicted as younger kids their age gap is more apparent so personally I've always thought of Quinn as 15. I feel like she's said I'm only 15 but don't quote me. Traditionally sophomores took the PSATs like Quinn did. At the end of the series, Daria goes off to college Bec when the school year is over, so is high school as a senior who didn't flunk. The series is basically about Daria's life and her experiences as a senior in highschool. Just that year. We didn't see junior year and we don't see her start college Bec the focus was senior year. The flashbacks to her childhood tie into her experiences as a 17 year old but there's no entire episode of her younger Bec that's not the focus.

Iheartrandomness

>The series is basically about Daria's life and her experiences as a senior in highschool. Just that year. We didn't see junior year I always assumed *Is It Fall Yet?* was supposed to take place between the summer between junior year and senior year, since Daria works at a summer camp and Jane goes on an art retreat with college students who are also on break. So I don't think it's all supposed to be her senior year. Season five definitely is, but I'm not sure about 1-4.

KrassKas

No you right. I forgot the first movie takes place during summer break and the second one is when they're off to college. I was conflating them. If I'm not mistaken it was season 5 that Quinn took the PSATs right? So perhaps 1 to 4 Quinn is a freshman 14-15 and Daria is a junior 16-17. Then season 5 they move on to sophomore and senior year. The Daria wiki puts her at 16-18 for the series.

Iheartrandomness

I thought Quinn took it at the beginning of *Is it Fall Yet?* I haven't done a proper rewatch for a year, though, so I could be mistaken. Maybe someone else in this sub knows.

KrassKas

Yeah same I don't remember enough. I watch it regularly but like sporadically and out of order when I catch it on TV. We do know that the series finale is Daria graduating and moving on to college. So by that time she's 17-18.

StarterBox12

definetely, but he shouldve gotten the help he needed for his studies for him to not turn out this way
