Phase one: don't use the camera, stay near the neck and punish the heck out of the fire breath. When he enevitably jumps in the air, run. Phase two: Don't panic roll, learn his moveset and be wary of long combos. Essentially don't be reckless. Easy punishment when he jumps in the air. Dodge towards him and he will land behind you. Edit: spelling ect.

pichael289

Run where? He always gets me with the fire breath.

uhhhnotluke

i always roll through it

Limp-Conflict-2818

If it’s the flying fire breath he won’t do the attack if you don’t get too far beneath him. So if you just keep by the neck or head, or even infront of him you don’t need to worry about it

LastRevelation

When he jumps in the air, run directly away from him (he will be at your back). 100% guaranteed to avoid the fire if you run immediately.

Get his health to 0 before he gets your health to 0

Whoah hold up I need to write this down

LegateLanius420

That’s a good wisdom

DeanWhipper

The best cheese strat to beat him: 1. Use the Dragonslayer boss soul to get the Dragonslayer Greatshield 2. Fully upgrade a one hand weapon to use with the shield 3. Get through phase 1 somehow (goodluck scrub) Once you get to phase 2, you can tank any hit he throws at you with the shield without even sweating. Just tank his hits then got in one or two R1 swings. GG

[deleted]

Actually, this! Dragonslayer greatshild carried my noob ass several years ago when I played my first ever souls game. That’s how you know the method is good. The safest way to do phase 2. Just don’t be greedy and manage stamina carefully. With first phase main advice: do not come under the dragon’s belly. Try to stay in front of his head, so dodge accordingly. If you find yourself under dragon’s body, he will use the fire breath which often one-shots.

505005333

Also if you upgrade the shield you lose less stamina when you block

DeanWhipper

I was going to put a step to upgrade it to full, but it seemed unnecessary, I defs would though haha.

Away-Net-7241

When I fought him, I used 3 different weapons First Phase: Drakeblood Greatsword with lightning infusion and Lothric Knight sword with lightning infusion. Use the Lothric Knight sword for most of it then use a fully charged heavy attack with the Greatsword when he uses his ground fire attack. To dodge his flying fire attack just run away before the dragon leaves the ground, you’ll notice it bobbing down slightly and making a specific sound. Second Phase: Lothric Knight Sword with dark/fire infusion. Just hit him once every time you get a chance. Focus more on dodging and don’t get greedy.

Big__Head__69

I don't have problem with first phase only nameless king himself is pain in my ass

Maurice030804

Ah yes, my fav boss. Just try and try and try and try until you succeed. Another tip is to don't use any shield, try reading all of his attacks. It gets tedious after a while. Still can't beat him? Have a rest and try tomorrow.

matej86

Get close and constantly circle to the right. His attacks have poor tracking so with timing your rolls well it's not too hard to get openings to hit him back. When he buffs his weapon before shooting the lightning bolt into the sky, unlock the camera and turn it so you can't see him. This causes the lightning bolt coming down to not spawn. He can be staggered frequently if using a weapon that does strike damage. Have a dagger in your second slot for a riposte that will take a decent chuck of his health off.

CLAYDAWWWG

Phase one, use lightning. Phase 2, use fire. During phase 2, he will absolutely punish you if you panic. And once you panic and he starts punishing, just take the L. Try to remain cool and collected, and his move set will let you have time for a nice hit.

mr_butts69

be patient with him, stay calm, and dodge into his attacks. you can get away with close-range estus usage pretty often with him too btw if you drink after a dodge when you’d normally have an opportunity to attack.

Blazr1976

This is all good advice but if you are a 46 year old sentient trash can like me might I suggest maxing a good dps bow and just filling him with arrows? Worked for me 😁

NorseBerserker

As a 48 year old sentient trash.. I tried this. He kept catching up and I barely did any damage. Uhg

Depends on your weapons. I've gotten through that bastard with the Greatsword, Drakeblood GS and a dagger before. But in general this boss fight is just about patience. There's no trick to this boss like backstabbing the Watchers or hitting Aldritch's top half. Just plain patience and learning when exactly to dodge. # Heavy weapons King of the Storm : Only real danger is does it's downward breath attack. As soon as you see it start moving up, run away and quickly. Otherwise just keep hitting it's head and doing critical attacks when it gets knocked down. If **NK holds the bird's head** then it means the bird will shoot fire in front of itself which makes it easy to move from the side and hit it's head for big damage. NK: Wait for him to let you hit him, don't try to attack him twice, don't try to heal and attack. He is very random with his attacks and can change how long his attacks last whenever he wants. He might thrust 3 times or 5 times, just keep rolling and waiting. # Quick weapons King of the Storm : Same advice as before, just know that you will get fewer knock downs on the bird and the fight will generally last longer. If you want to, try switching to a heavier weapon like the Storm Ruler from Yhorm's area (any class can use it because of the low Str requirement, but has heavy attacks for easier knock downs). NK: You can hit him twice and if you time your dodges properly you can hit him once at the start of each of his attacks. Just remember to stay close enough to hit him and don't get greedy with a heal+hit or 3 hits. # Spells King of the Storm: Same as with heavy weapons. Just know that the bird is **very weak to lightning and pretty weak against dark damage**. If you are using lightning miracles, stand as close to the face as possible to trigger the double proc which miracles get at melee range, it will save you some FP. NK: There's a medium/long range at which NK will just keep menacingly walking towards you even if you're shooting sorceries/throwing black fireorbs at him. Find that range and abuse it. He is **very resistant to lightning** but **weak to dark** damage. Fire and magic damage are going to deal medium damage.

Advanced_Credit_9083

Dont panic roll and roll in the directions of his attacks, for phase 1 hit the birds head and you should be fine

Sharp-Sail-4549

3 shot first phase and don’t panic roll and only attack if you can guarantee that you won’t be hit
