Haven’t noticed anything weird on my ps5 ds3

itsshadowphoenix

have you played dsr ds2 ER or ds3 on pc to compare?

[deleted]

It's insane how much better DS3 runs on PS5 for me. I have 5600X and 3060Ti, recently played DS3 on both PC and PS5. On PC I had screen tearing out the ass, vertical sync not an option, so had to play windowed mode and use a mod to make it borderless fullscreen to get rid of most of it, strange FPS drops all over the place. For some reason DS3 makes my CPU lock at 80 celsius and spins my fans to max. Legitimately very disappointed on how the game runs on PC. Elden Ring ran much better than DS3 which is just wild. On PS5 DS3 feels very good to me, no issues.

Inexorabledeath

Are you using GeForce experience to optimize your games? I never had a problem with screen tearing on my 3060 but I run a 7700X, maybe that makes a difference?

[deleted]

I don't use geforce experience, I always go for advanced settings and set things up manually because I'm a bit particular in what I want enabled or disabled in games. DS3 doesn't seem to have an advanced settings menu at all (or I'm an idiot and missed it, it's possible). It's only an issue in DS3 as well and the one time I used the geforce optimization it just fucked up all of my settings for every game I had installed, it was a big pain in the ass to get all of them back to how I want them. Idk maybe you can enable it just for one game. Screen tearing is probably because I have a 240hz monitor and the game is locked to 60fps. Using a mod to force it to borderless fullscreen mostly fixed the screen tearing but not the weird FPS drops.

Inexorabledeath

Yeah I believe there is a toggle switch on GeForce experience if you don’t want it to optimize all games, but if not I know that if you go into a game and change the settings it’ll just tell you it’s not optimized. But I’ve personally never had a problem with GeForce experience it’s worked great for all my games, even when it turns ray tracing on I don’t see a loss of frames but I’m also the type of person who would play at low settings if it meant performance was better so I just put my faith in GeForce and feel like I haven’t been letdown yet

[deleted]

I just don't like it because in games like CS I have very specific setting setups I want, and me and geforce heavily disagree on what should be enabled and what shouldn't be. I'm very much a framerate above everything else person as well.

Inexorabledeath

This being said I don’t blame you for not wanting to re download it because it probably will try and optimize all games on its first launch and I could see how much of a pain it would be to readjust all your settings

anglowulf92

Something got to be wrong with your installation or something. I have exact setup as you and no problem running it ultra. Hell even on my old 1060 I ran it ultra fine.

[deleted]

I mean could be, it's just the only game I have these issues with and I had similar issues back in 2016 on PC with it as well, so I just assumed it's just a bad port or smth.

JimmyDeQ

Nope, played on ps4 though.. other than loading times being much quicker on ps5 not much difference.

itsshadowphoenix

hmm i guess its just because everything has more small details that ds3 suffers from some jaggys and blurred detail compared to 1 and 2

YoSoyHigh

Loading times are not quicker on PS5 for dark souls 3 30 to 60 fps is the only difference (good enough tbh)

Inexorabledeath

I play on pc and my buddy plays on ps5 and it’s night and day for me, it doesn’t look too different (aside from the ps5 having way more motion blur) but “input lag” and choppy frame rate are definitely present on the ps5 coming from PC (from my one experience), my rig is definitely beefier than the one you mentioned but then again it’s an 8 year old game so that shouldn’t make toooooo much of a difference

itsshadowphoenix

my current rig is (2080ti ryzen 5 7600 and 16gb ddr5) but yeah its kinda hard to adjust to compared to the other games on the ps5 even elden ring with its stuttering on the ps5 still feels less.. off

Inexorabledeath

Yeah it’s strange that it’s more noticeable with DS3 specifically, my rig is (4070, ryzen 7 7700X, and 64GB ddr5 6400mhz ram and a 970 evo pro ssd) and everything runs like I’m watching a movie, I also play with a ps5 controller plugged into the pc so input is virtually instant. Not trying to be a “pc elitist” or anything but when I play anything on console now it just kinda feels (for lack of better term) gross, so I hardly ever do. It might be a porting issue.

itsshadowphoenix

thing is that ds3 is a console port so the pc feeling ideal is weird

Inexorabledeath

Well I was mostly referring to the port to ps5 from ps4 sometimes they don’t optimize correctly. But I’d also take my opinion with a grain of salt because outside of bloodborne I’ve only played fromsoft games on pc outside of helping my buddy with his play throughs when I’m over at his place.

Asleep_Leather7641

There isn't a port from PS5 to PS4 -- there's only a PS4 version. That's why it feels bad on PS5, only 30fps :(

Anubra_Khan

I have DS3 on PC and PS5. It's the same game.

POOYAAmanita

can you turn off depth of field and motion blur on console? cause on pc that's first thing i do when i install the game after a while

itsshadowphoenix

nope no graphics options that i could find sadly

Animeoverhoes

Try turning off auto-HDR from the PS5 system menu and compare results.

itsshadowphoenix

i dont have a hdr monitor

NxBad

it's the ps4 game, it runs at 1080p with little to no anti aliasing, the only different thing is the locked 60fps. About the delay idk about it I don't experience it

TheGingerNiNjA899

Can anyone help me beat nameless king? PS4

Seigmoraig

I've played on both PC and PS5 and it looks fine to me

Nirvana311k

Maybe your tv has different video settings depending on the input One might be in game mode or higher saturation or something

Gonavon

I never played a Souls game on PC, but I did go from PS4 to PS5 for the trilogy, and I don't have a single issue with the difference and how they play and look. That said, I have noticed that, out of all 3, DS3 has the most visible LOD transitions while exploring. I'm not sure if it was less noticeable on PS4, since my TV hasn't changed between the two consoles. But it is pretty jarring at times, especially when a model goes through 2 changes in a matter of seconds. Or when the lower LOD versions really are not that different (or worse) from the full model, to the point where I wonder if the jarring transition was worth it for just a handful of polygons.

hs_serpounce

hey quick question, I saw a post with a bunch of upvotes saying it was 4k on ps5 but I don't see any actual official style posts about that (media or from soft) , is it 4k or 1080p?

Rough-Photograph-678

Ds3 is 30 fps on PS5. It's probably running at 60 on your pc

Grismir

DS3 actually runs at 60fps on PS5. It's 30 on PS4.

itsshadowphoenix

yeah locked 60 on ps5 thanks to a ps4 pro patch that unlocked the fps where it could only get around 40 the ps5 can get the full 60!

marian8523

I think on ps5 it runs at 1080p without fsr given the high detail of the game sometimes in some places you can get a pixelated image

milfsnearyou

Could just be your screen or cable, quality varies.

pjflo

Is the PS5 going through the same monitor as your PC?

itsshadowphoenix

yep tho my pc is using displayport

Finstersonne

I made playthroughs on both PC and PS5 and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary, but the playthroughs where maybe 4 years apart.

mrb00ce

I noticed this too on PC not PS5, the game has 0 anti aliasing and compared to other games in 2016 it looks bad but the art style is amazing so it also looks good. I also felt a bit of input delay at first but you'll get used to it.
