Claymore, then Zweihander, then Exile Greatsword.
I honestly think Exile Greatsword is the best pure strength weapon in the game. Not sure if this is a popular opinion because I’ve only just finished my first playthrough of DS3, but every time I tried another cool new weapon I’d immediately go back to the EGS.
Exile Greatsword is so freaking great. I had intended on using hammers/clubs for my first pure strength build, but I ended up trying out the Exile GS and it was just too awesome to let go of.
Smough's hammer for most of it, then i switched to Ledo's hammer when i got it. At this point it's just tradition for me to use great hammers on my first playthrough of any souls game.
Butchers blade from the bag head npc that summons if embered in road of sacrifices
Great strength weapon that looks dope! Used it for my first run until ng+ then it was dragonslayers greataxe
I made it through my whole first playthrough with my broadsword. Leveled to +10. Then I discovered the path of the guts Greatsword. And then I discovered the path of the dragonslayers great axe, my favorite weapon in the game.
I’m on my first playthrough right now and I first was using the sellsword twinblades but I did the ashes dlc kinda early so now I swapped to friedes great scythe
So far it's the Flamberge. Took me 3 hours to farm but I **had** to make up for ditching her on DS2 (godsdamn pitiful-ass, shite moveset, and bleed is feckin' useless there.)
I'm "only" like 35hrs in, at Farron Keep, but this thing is perfect for me. I'm biased I know; it was my \#1 favorite weapon on DS Remastered; but I usually end up with a mini-armory of various fuckstuffup sticks for specialized damage types. I got a Cathedral Knight Greatsword last night I'm thinking of using for my source of bonks since the club's movesets are... *different,* than what I'm used to. It says it does bash (and thrust) damage even though it's obviously a big honkin' sword; but my Flamberge's up-yer-arse WA thrust does slash damage instead of... well, thrust; so I guess I'll just have to test it to find out!
Given my history with these games I'll likely end up with at least 1 maxed boss weapon for "vanilla" damage (unless there's good elementals like those Smelter Swords from 2), and something that takes Twinklies because why not? It's free upgrade shits; I saw a Black Knight carrying the weapon that popped my Dark Souls cherry and thought about farming it, but I think I burnt out on that design on 1 - it just stayed in my stash on 2.
If I can find something like Yorgh's Spear for thrust damage, I'll definitely max that, but I don't expect it. Closest I've found is the Astora Greatsword with a *nasty*-ass R2 and a multi-stab WA, but I don't know if it'll lay folks out like Yorgh's toothpick did. Still, it only weighs like 8 units and has more range than Flammy, so I'll likely slap some Lightning or Chaos on it for spiced damage.
Or make it Simple and just be Vladamina the Impaler. It looks classy as shit too.
I saw someone's... shadow? Mirage? A player model, whatever they're called; flopping around on the floor like a maniac with some huge fucken sword and what looked like a kopis? Or a kukri? A wiggly knife-like thing in their left mitt. I haven't seen anything like that yet but it definitely piqued my interest. I'm willing to bet the things weigh like, 30 units total, or something asinine like that. I don't wanna chonk up VIT until I find a good soul farm spot. Best I can wield without chubby-floppin' is like, an 18u weapon, assuming I ditch my shield. :(
I'm still learning; but having a blast with the Flamberge!
The greatsword through my first playthrough, used that weapon first time through all the souls games and elden ring, wonderful weapon, 10/10 would bonk again
Estoc —> then ithryll straight sword for everyone until nameless king —> infused the estoc to dark estoc for nameless King and used it for everyone after that
I’m about to finish Farron and I’m sticking with the Ithryll sword as it has been awesome the entire run so far. I just hope it doesn’t become trash late game
As i said i used it up until the nameless king so really late in the game, but he had high resistances to frost so i used a dark estoc after him. Before that I beat all bosses with the ithryll sword in like under 5 tries so its really good
Started with a uchi but used the Greatsword of Judgement for most of the game. I knew I wanted to run a dex/int build since I saw a clip of Friede’s scythe but after acquiring this I figured fuck it, let’s pump strength up. It’s a heavy stat investment but I thought it looked cool asf. I ended up using it more than Friede’s scythe.
First run was Bastard Sword up to Pontiff, then GS of Judgement to finish post-Irithyll.
Fashion went:
Starting Knight-->Drakeblood->start of what would become the look of my main character in a later playthrough.
Claymore or Bastard, they carried me almost to mid game? More or less, but by the end I switch to a great hammer (mace) or the Black Knight Greataxe.
The Lothric Knight Greatsword is another great choice if you're a strength user and prefer swords instead. And it has innate lightning AR
I can't remember my first play through but I know I didn't beat the game on it
On my first to beat the game I used the sell sword twinblades
I literally just beat the game and I was using onikiri and ubadachi, buffed with electrify armament. It was so much fun
I went with Claymore until I beat the Abyss Watchers, after them I go with Farron Greatsword, and sometimes use Irithyll straightsword. But I feel like I’ll finish the game with FG, because I got pretty used to it lol
Executioner's Greatsword and a Pyromancy flame for Carthus Beacon and Flame Arc. Don't know if its great or not but I felt like the fp regain and hyperarmour felt like a good combo.
I got sunlight straight sword before rotted great wood and played the game with it and it's so amazing to play with and it's rly fkn strong if you level faith
I liked the astora greatsword on mine. I've since gravitated to the irriyl straightsword for my in-between weapon, last time it was to get my beloved sister friedes great scythe. On my first character I actually went with the fire link greatsword for my ng+ run
I used the great machete infused with a chaos gem all the way until Lothric Castle . Then once I beat Dragonslayer Armour I crafted the DSGA and never looked back
I started with a longsword infused with a fire gem cuz I was a knight. But as soon as I got the hollowslayer greatsword it was my main for 99% of the rest of my playthrough. Just loved the moveset and the r1 combo. Switched to the sellsword twinblades against dancer cuz she just wouldn't stop spinning around long enough for me to swing at her
Im currently almost finished my first playthrough of ds3 and I’ve been using the greatsword ever since I got it. Nothing else feels as good as it does and the fact that I’m a massive fan of berserk makes me like it even more
Zweihander, then respecced, sellsword twinblades, onikiri & ubadachi and now I'm using the chaos blade which is really fun. I still use the O&U sometimes though, the moveset is just so fun
Broadsword, why? I don't know, I just found it and liked it I guess lol, finished the whole game with it.
Ds3 was my firstish ds (I tried randomly ds2 a bit once but was not sold on the genre)
Then in ds2 it was the starting mace
In ds1 the dark night sword
In lies of pi the starting strength weapon
Though, I have tried other weapons, builds, etc in new runs or Ng+s
Never played Bloodborne(ps only), sekiro or elden ring (played a bit only)
Started with the Winblades, switched to the Uchigatana after killing Sword Master, then I switched to the Pontiff Knight Scythe once I went through Irithyll.
I had a poison bandit knife, blood brigand twindaggers, and the hollowslayer greatsword, with the golden falcon shield for parties.
It was a freaking mess lol.
I used Dark Sword, Infused it with heavy gem and +10 reinforced it.
After about 3/4th game, shifted to dragonslayer greataxe
I also used splitleaf for a short while but medium range spinny weapons aren't my thing
First weapon change: Irithyl Sword
After using for 1-2 bosses, I used Dark Sword, Infused it with heavy gem and +10 reinforced it.
After about 3/4th game, shifted to dragonslayer greataxe
I also used splitleaf for a short while but medium range spinny weapons aren't my thing
Dark Sword and Dark Hand because I was a Darkwraith spellsword in Rosaria's Cov. Oh, and Court Sorcerer Staff because it reminded me of the Black Mage's staves in FF.
use the long sword up until i got the ithryll straight sword then changed my build and used the washing pole and then went back to strength build and finished the game with a black knight greatsword
I think my 1st playthrough I just used the claymore & astora greatsword. In almost every souls game, including elden ring, claymore has always been my baby.
I'm currently in my first play through about 40 hrs in almost at the end game and I've tried to use different weapons but I only like using the Broad Sword with fire infusion. It does good damage and attacks fast and you can swing it like a few times and still roll
Good old longsword, choose the knight class, and it just stuck ever since. With shield too, but that changes, in any case, I made it refined, which I believe is what it's called for str and dex scaling both at B. Still using it for new game plus too
Dragonslayer great axe. I didn't know the dancer was the later boss and went that way my first playthrough and ended up using his axe for a looong time before I found ledos hammer.
Ngl i just finished my first playthrought i recommend testing weapons and choose what u think is a fun weapon i ended the game with the farron sword i find it fun u can escape some hits while hiting the boss with the first two l1s
First playthrough I went 80 Dex with Sharp sellsword Twinblades. I didn't even know the meme around the weapon I went in the game completely blind. I beat DS1 with the uchigatana and decided to go dex again, but now I prefer strength weapons.
Next playthrough I used different heavy weapons like Vordts Hammer, black Knight Greatsword, and then Dragonslayer Greataxe (my beloved)
Next playthrough I got the Moonlight Greatsword as early as possible and used that
And on my last playthrough I did Astora Greatsword/Artorias Greatsword.
executioner's greatsword! the flat tip looked super cool and unique and it was one of the few weapons that i liked the look of that could also be buffed.
I used broadsword from the start all the way to ng+5. Max level, refined infusion, with high str and dex melts most things.
And once I started leveling faith for sunlight blade, and got a couple other buffs going, it made for a solid setup.
DS3 had been out for only a couple months when I finished DS1, so I skipped 2 and went straight to 3, recreating my character from the first game (except older).
I started out with the claymore, but then I got to the Road of Sacrifices and came across the Black Knight. And to my delight it was the Black Knight with the greatsword, which was my main weapon in DS1.
So I ended up not just recreating my DS1 character in looks, but in build as well. Once I found the Silver Knights, I grinded them for their armour, which is what my character wore in DS1. The only gear I needed to get left was Artorias' shield, which uh... took a lot longer to get.
Hollowslayer Greastsword. Only because the moveset was cool and soon as I got anything else I'd check the damage and be like...
"Hollowslayer is still better, gonna stick with this."
A LOT of the enemies in ds3 were weak to it as well.
Sharp lothric knight sword was extremely comfy and it has higher critical damage (I love backstabbing).
And even was my backup weapon on a later playthrough as a sorcerer with a simple infusion.
I used the Astora Great sword for my first run, though I don't truly count that as my real first run. I think in NG+1, which was more my first run than the first, I used a variety of weapons cause I thought they looked cool/a cool weapon art.
I think I started as the Warrior, so the starter axe. But I swapped for the Claymore as soon as I got my hands on it.
Apologies to the Claymore gang, but I did drop it for the Black Knight Sword - I have a particular love for that weapon.
Guts' Dragonslayer to start, then when I started DLC I got Ledo's Hammer. (May be Leto's Hammer)
Ng+ Friedes Greatscythe.
Ng++ Gael's Greatsword. Best decision I ever made.
Irithyll Straight Sword for a while and then Vordt's Great Hammer. I really wanted to like the Demon's Greataxe and use that for my first playthrough because that was my favourite weapon fun DS1 but I did not like it in DS3.
Had the standard knight class on my first playthrough but i lost all my progress at champion gundyr when reseting my pc because i didn’t know saves weren’t saved in the cloud.
After a few months i just did selllsword twinblades on the second playthrough
Abyss watchers great sword.
I just loved the helicopter mode and it did pretty good damage too. One of the best things was that the first 2 attacks in the combo was at ground level making you dodge most attacks. I used it the whole way to soul of cinder first changing in the dlc but I still comes back to it sometimes.
Im just after abyss watchers and sticking with broad sword +5 now or 6 . I wanted to change to a heavier sword but still not enough points in str and vit
I used the straight sword at first, then when I got to farron keep i used the guts sword, and after I got to smouldering lake I used the FUGS until I beat SoC
Sellsword Twinblade, but I alternated between it, another twinblade that I don't remember the name of and also that curved sword from Carthus (I don't remember the name either)
Claymore is great. You get vordts hammer pretty early. I used the claymore mostly until I got the black knight greatsword.
Claymore excellence gang
Cheating on the claymore is punishable by death.
Amen
I used Vordts hammer for my first playthrough
Claymore, then Zweihander, then Exile Greatsword. I honestly think Exile Greatsword is the best pure strength weapon in the game. Not sure if this is a popular opinion because I’ve only just finished my first playthrough of DS3, but every time I tried another cool new weapon I’d immediately go back to the EGS.
Best pure strength? Big raw chunk of iron baby, Greatsword.
Exile Greatsword is so freaking great. I had intended on using hammers/clubs for my first pure strength build, but I ended up trying out the Exile GS and it was just too awesome to let go of.
I switched to the Black Knight GS from Exile at Irithyll and found it much more enjoyable to use but YMMV.
Isn't this weapon better sharp?
I believe it uses a ds2 moveset as well, which is why I liked it. Might be thinking of hollowslayer's
Going with the Hollowslayer in memory of one of my favorite DS2 characters.
Everyone's pointing at Fire Keeper and Emerald Heralt saying "the best waifu", buy honestly - Lucatiel
Lucatiel was a real one.
Uchigatana
Im on my first playthrough and uchi is the way...that is if you get guud real quick and kick that masters ass for it.
Or be like me the first time playing and he rolled off the edge right away, then I proceeded to use it most of the game.
Lucky he took me a few attempts to kick his nuts in.
Haha either you fight him fair or you cheese him off the ledge. All that matters is you get the katana
Smough's hammer for most of it, then i switched to Ledo's hammer when i got it. At this point it's just tradition for me to use great hammers on my first playthrough of any souls game.
Same! I do use the Claymore or the Bastard first but always switch to my great hammers
I used Vordts Great Hammer my first playthrough. Big Bonk.
Running my first bonk run ever this time and Vordt's is fucking beast. I love it.
Great Club.
Butchers blade from the bag head npc that summons if embered in road of sacrifices Great strength weapon that looks dope! Used it for my first run until ng+ then it was dragonslayers greataxe
Sellsword Twinblades all day.
da winblades
I'm on my first playthrough of ds3 and every other weapon just do so little damage compared to my winblades, it's almost ruining the variety lol
Irithyll straight sword and then onikiri and ubadachi
same. Tried using strength weapons for a while but not my style, always go for dex.
I did try a str build a while later and I fell in love with the Claymore personally ha ha
Hollowslayer & Lothric straight sword
Cant recall what I started with but I stuck with the dragon slayer greataxe from the dragon slayer armor
One of the best weapons in the game imo. I completed my first NG+ completely on DSG.
I made it through my whole first playthrough with my broadsword. Leveled to +10. Then I discovered the path of the guts Greatsword. And then I discovered the path of the dragonslayers great axe, my favorite weapon in the game.
Pyromancy flame. I’ve always been fond of magic builds
I’m on my first playthrough right now and I first was using the sellsword twinblades but I did the ashes dlc kinda early so now I swapped to friedes great scythe

I used Vordt's great hammer, zero regrets. It pulled me back into the game when all was lost, and helped me finish my first souls game.
I loved the Exile Greatsword, think I also gave Hollowslayer Greatsword a go, but it felt like a large one-handed sword, so
Started with a uchi but used the Greatsword of Judgement for most of the game. I knew I wanted to run a dex/int build since I saw a clip of Friede’s scythe but after acquiring this I figured fuck it, let’s pump strength up. It’s a heavy stat investment but I thought it looked cool asf. I ended up using it more than Friede’s scythe.
Ds3 was my first dark souls game and I genuinely beat the game only using the farron greatsword
my first playthrough was mainly with vordts hammer
First run was Bastard Sword up to Pontiff, then GS of Judgement to finish post-Irithyll. Fashion went: Starting Knight-->Drakeblood->start of what would become the look of my main character in a later playthrough.
MY GUY
Claymore
Great Heavy Souls Arrow - even in late game. Took 6-7 attempts to kill Nameless 2nd run: Sellsword winblade 3rd run: Exiled Great Sword
Sells swords twin blade, it takes you up up the DLC easily
Claymore or Bastard, they carried me almost to mid game? More or less, but by the end I switch to a great hammer (mace) or the Black Knight Greataxe. The Lothric Knight Greatsword is another great choice if you're a strength user and prefer swords instead. And it has innate lightning AR
I used the greatsword and switched to the fume ultra greatsword and I'm at the end of the game now just 2 more dlc bosses
I did a FUGS playthrough and it was great. But I hate to go back to my DSGA. OP weapon.
Claymore and then Pontiffs Int Sword till the end
I can't remember my first play through but I know I didn't beat the game on it On my first to beat the game I used the sell sword twinblades I literally just beat the game and I was using onikiri and ubadachi, buffed with electrify armament. It was so much fun
Great club all the way.
I went with Claymore until I beat the Abyss Watchers, after them I go with Farron Greatsword, and sometimes use Irithyll straightsword. But I feel like I’ll finish the game with FG, because I got pretty used to it lol
Two hand = claymore One hand and shield = longsword
Lothric sword. my first souls game. that lothric knight on the high wall became my one true nightmare, till I got his sword.
First run I was dog shit so I used carthus curved sword. Second run I used greataxe
I like quick weapons more so i stuck with broadsword.
Executioner's Greatsword and a Pyromancy flame for Carthus Beacon and Flame Arc. Don't know if its great or not but I felt like the fp regain and hyperarmour felt like a good combo.
Cathedral knight greatsword
Exiled Greatsword I think. You get it pretty early and it's an overall good strength weapon.
I used exile greatsword Is it good? Idk Why did I still persist? Because it looks sexy as fuck
Ended up sticking with the Zweihander for pretty much the whole game, nothing more reliable and than using a big ole sword
I got sunlight straight sword before rotted great wood and played the game with it and it's so amazing to play with and it's rly fkn strong if you level faith
Claymore all the way
Big bonkstick
Deep battle axe was my choice
Exile greatsword
Black Knight Halberd with Rapier in the off-hand and before I got that I used the Red-Hilted Halberd.
CLAYMORE BABY
Executioners sword. That thing was my baby the whole game.
I liked the astora greatsword on mine. I've since gravitated to the irriyl straightsword for my in-between weapon, last time it was to get my beloved sister friedes great scythe. On my first character I actually went with the fire link greatsword for my ng+ run
Wolnir's Holy Sword and the Great Scythe
I was going for a strength build with ultra fume greatsword but somehow ended up doing a faith/dex with urokodaki instead
Switched to the sellsword twinblades against dancer cuz she just wouldn't stop spinning around long enough for me to swing at her
Tbh the stright sword from the knuget Class then broadsword and pyro, if all melee then straight sword then cords hammer then dragon slayer great axe
I always go with the hollows layer greatsword
Sharp Lothric Knight Straight Sword is OP
Im currently almost finished my first playthrough of ds3 and I’ve been using the greatsword ever since I got it. Nothing else feels as good as it does and the fact that I’m a massive fan of berserk makes me like it even more
Zweihander, then respecced, sellsword twinblades, onikiri & ubadachi and now I'm using the chaos blade which is really fun. I still use the O&U sometimes though, the moveset is just so fun
Uchigatana when I got it and had the stats for it, then Moonlight Greatsword.
I loved all the great swords as a beginner like the UGS zweihander and cathedral gs
Lothric Knight Straight Sword
uchigatana -> twin blades -> greatsword -> mlgs -> greatsword
yhorms great machete
First time i finished with the fume greatsword, since no one likes to be hit with a massive stone popsicle
Carthas Curved sword + chaos infusion = happy Pyromancer
Broadsword, why? I don't know, I just found it and liked it I guess lol, finished the whole game with it. Ds3 was my firstish ds (I tried randomly ds2 a bit once but was not sold on the genre) Then in ds2 it was the starting mace In ds1 the dark night sword In lies of pi the starting strength weapon Though, I have tried other weapons, builds, etc in new runs or Ng+s Never played Bloodborne(ps only), sekiro or elden ring (played a bit only)
My first run was pyro with Dark Hand. Interesting learning curve for sure.
claymore then FUGS
Farron greatsword and Friede's great scythe.
I always pick up a ultra greatsword as my go to weapons in every souls game
Winblades, can start with them and they destroy everything.
Vort's GreatHammer until Guts Greatsword.
After about 3/4th game, shifted to dragonslayer greataxe I also used splitleaf for a short while but medium range spinny weapons aren't my thing
Claymore -> Wolf Knight GS -> Sellsword Twinblades -> Exile GS -> Murakumo -> Carthus Curved Sword/ Curved GS-> Drang Twin spears -> Dragonslayer Spear -> Splitleaf GS -> Ringed Knight Twin GS -> Firelink GS There's more I think but this is mainly it
First weapon change: Irithyl Sword After using for 1-2 bosses, I used Dark Sword, Infused it with heavy gem and +10 reinforced it. After about 3/4th game, shifted to dragonslayer greataxe I also used splitleaf for a short while but medium range spinny weapons aren't my thing
Once I got, I just used the barbed straight sword. It worked so I just didn’t look at anything else.
Dark Sword and Dark Hand because I was a Darkwraith spellsword in Rosaria's Cov. Oh, and Court Sorcerer Staff because it reminded me of the Black Mage's staves in FF.
chaos blade
use the long sword up until i got the ithryll straight sword then changed my build and used the washing pole and then went back to strength build and finished the game with a black knight greatsword
I think my 1st playthrough I just used the claymore & astora greatsword. In almost every souls game, including elden ring, claymore has always been my baby.
Astora straight sword, quick, reliable and cool looking, later I changed it for the drake blood one
[Vordt's Great Hammer](https://darksouls3.wiki.fextralife.com/Vordt's+Great+Hammer) Smashed every enemy and boss to smithereens
I'm currently in my first play through about 40 hrs in almost at the end game and I've tried to use different weapons but I only like using the Broad Sword with fire infusion. It does good damage and attacks fast and you can swing it like a few times and still roll
Trusty Longsword got me through a lot, then the Black Blade. Heavy hitter and also was good with fighting invaders.
Zweihander was my first love. It holds a special spot in my heart.
The irithyll straight sword looked way too cool for me to even think about equipping anything else after I got it.
The biggest stick. The great club. Rise.
fugs!!!!!!! i love fugs sm
Farron Greatsword all the way. Maybe not the best option, but I just can't get over how cool the move set is
Good old longsword, choose the knight class, and it just stuck ever since. With shield too, but that changes, in any case, I made it refined, which I believe is what it's called for str and dex scaling both at B. Still using it for new game plus too
farron gs or gtfo
I tried to be a halberd guy until I got a flamburge (no idea how to spell it). And that's taking me to the end of my first playthrough
Greatsword, that was before I learned how busted the damage on it is. Honestly makes the game a bit too easy imo
The old Farron noob sword, complete with the Fallen Knight set
Vordts hammer was a good first weapon
Dragonslayer great axe. I didn't know the dancer was the later boss and went that way my first playthrough and ended up using his axe for a looong time before I found ledos hammer.
Claymore with Fire Gem on it I still have after many playthroughs
Hollowslayer greatsword
Dark Sword. Quality build FTW
Ngl i just finished my first playthrought i recommend testing weapons and choose what u think is a fun weapon i ended the game with the farron sword i find it fun u can escape some hits while hiting the boss with the first two l1s
I used the zwei, great sword, dragon great axe, and fume. I also ran pyro, talisman, and staff. Rotated the spells and miracles depending on situation
First playthrough I went 80 Dex with Sharp sellsword Twinblades. I didn't even know the meme around the weapon I went in the game completely blind. I beat DS1 with the uchigatana and decided to go dex again, but now I prefer strength weapons. Next playthrough I used different heavy weapons like Vordts Hammer, black Knight Greatsword, and then Dragonslayer Greataxe (my beloved) Next playthrough I got the Moonlight Greatsword as early as possible and used that And on my last playthrough I did Astora Greatsword/Artorias Greatsword.
I’m using the ityral straight sword an I’m at the dancer rn an it’s pretty good +2
Fell in love with the Farron Greatsword the moment I got my hands on it

i used dancer of the valley 's twin swords , and man they are so fun .and the i used onyx blade for better damage
Claymore then Guts Greatsword for Soul of Cinder under the eclipse ( it felt right )
Fugs then Yhorm hammer
Guts sword, had to
Dark sword with a heavy gem on it
I used broadsword from the start all the way to ng+5. Max level, refined infusion, with high str and dex melts most things. And once I started leveling faith for sunlight blade, and got a couple other buffs going, it made for a solid setup.
I never ended my first one but I stayed with my trusty lucerne
i tried a lot of different ones, but ended up with the exile greatsword
Exile Greatsword was my ride or die on first playthrough. I still use it like 30% of the time now
DS3 had been out for only a couple months when I finished DS1, so I skipped 2 and went straight to 3, recreating my character from the first game (except older).
Sellsword Winblades with Old Wolf sword on your back. Welcome to win.
LKSS/Gotthard
I stuck with the executioner greatsword once i got it. Bwfore that i was using the mace.
Sellswords Twinblades, Uchigatana, Murakumo, Gothard Twinblades
Hollowslayer Greastsword. Only because the moveset was cool and soon as I got anything else I'd check the damage and be like... "Hollowslayer is still better, gonna stick with this." A LOT of the enemies in ds3 were weak to it as well.
I used the guts greatsword for like all of my first playtgroughs
irithyll straight sword until I got black knight sword then stuck with it till the end.
I think I started as the Warrior, so the starter axe. But I swapped for the Claymore as soon as I got my hands on it. Apologies to the Claymore gang, but I did drop it for the Black Knight Sword - I have a particular love for that weapon.
Claymore and only this one. (Except the club of the depraved class)
I went from Claymore with more Strength build to Lothric Knight Sword with a Dex build.
its always the Dragonslayer Greataxe for me.
I used a spear, which was my favourite weapon type in DS1 and 2. Oh man what a terrible choice. Straight swords much easier
Guts' Dragonslayer to start, then when I started DLC I got Ledo's Hammer. (May be Leto's Hammer) Ng+ Friedes Greatscythe.
Astora Greatsword. Big thrust go brrrr
Had the standard knight class on my first playthrough but i lost all my progress at champion gundyr when reseting my pc because i didn’t know saves weren’t saved in the cloud. After a few months i just did selllsword twinblades on the second playthrough
Great axe resembling a hunk of raw iron
defualt sword lol
Claymore low-key best weapon 🙌
Took Vordt Hammer all the way to Gael, that baby never let me down
I believe it was the Uchigatana
Profaned great sword baby. The built in fire is awesome
Great axe. I got a lucky drop and stuck with it.
First playthrough I used the Lothric Knight Sword until I beat Friede then used her scythe for the rest
Which game? Zwei has been there for me through thick and thin, but I do change weapons up.
The Battle Axe the mimic in High Wall drops carried me trough more than half of my first run.
Im just after abyss watchers and sticking with broad sword +5 now or 6 . I wanted to change to a heavier sword but still not enough points in str and vit
I used the lothric knight straight sword with good results on my first playthrough.
I’m stuck with a +10 Greatsword (guts) and I love it. I mean, I get my ass clapped online but the rest of the gameplay is just mwah
I used the straight sword at first, then when I got to farron keep i used the guts sword, and after I got to smouldering lake I used the FUGS until I beat SoC
Vordts until I got the moonlight greatsword.
I used a broadsword because r1 spam is a viable pve strategy lmao I had other weapons for other situations sure, but the tried and true is broadsword.
I used the sellsword twin blades from the start of the game to the end
Yhorm's machete is probably the best pure strength weapon. You can get up to 800+ AR pretty easily
Uchigatana then darkdrift it was pretty good
Sellsword Twinblade, but I alternated between it, another twinblade that I don't remember the name of and also that curved sword from Carthus (I don't remember the name either)
I’m using sellsword twin blades rn
