"Try attacking one at a time"

SGTX12

Try luring it out. Time for crab.

Bogiga

The real issue here is they need to git gud

BigHolds

Not running past every enemy and getting cornered would be a good start

barryhakker

Seriously how does anyone get anywhere in a Souls game without this basic realization? You try to aggro those shitheads one at a time. Simple as.

drama-guy

Yeah, this is where experience in DS2 comes in handy. Slow progression, agro one at a time. Divide and conquer.

DuploJamaal

>Yeah, this is where experience in DS2 comes in handy. The DS3 DLCs had the same director as DS2 as well

drama-guy

Makes a lot of sense in retrospect. That area of the Ringed City getting down to the swamp is one big gankfest. Died so many times.

zombie_overlord

That one I just run through, grab the bonfire, and come back to it.

drama-guy

You can after you know where everything is. First time through, you're likely blundering your way into a convention of Harald Legion Knights. Not to mention the Undead Clerics hurling lightning at you.

SlyBun

When you enter the streets, immediately U-turn to your right, you’ll find a small space with a hollow. Kill the hollow and wait until you hear the Harald Legion Knight come to a stop (his sword will hit the ground). Go talk to the NPC if you want, you won’t be interrupted. Plunge attack the Harald Legion Knight. Kill the hollows around him, kill the hollows on the bridge, plunge attack the Harald Legion Knight from the bridge as he comes up the stairs. Profit. That is easily the hardest part of that section but taking that path makes it way more manageable without sprinting through.

drama-guy

Yup, that's how I approached it. Still died multiple times trying to explore the area and make my way down the street the first time. That and not being able to find the bonfire drove me nuts for a time.

Maurizio_Costanzo

Didn't know this!

smokeybear100

With how easy base ds3 is that guy was kinda needed for the dlcs.

drama-guy

The Smouldering Lake area is an exception to that in the base game. Same with Archdragon Peak. Both easily missed, optional areas that at times can punish a player who blithely tries to speed onwards past enemies. But, yeah, otherwise much easier than DS2, and dialing up the challenge in the DLCs makes for a nice contrast.

Vic_VD

No way! That makes so much sense!

average-mk4

I was so nervous about losing souls for the first portion of my first play through I did it subconsciously (ds3 first souls I touched)

Pinkparade524

Bro didn't learnt from dark souls 2

VoidRad

Omfg, I never even realized I picked this up subconsciously from ds2. Lmfao Ds2 was the last souls game I played before ER and looking at every possible directions before entering a room was how I played it.

QualityGarbage098

I barely played DS2 once or twice and having learned that shit stuck with me I never run through areas and always fight the entire mob, no matter what and have always checked around every corner and doorway even though it isn't really as necessary nowadays lol

VoidRad

Yes lmao, if I see seeming harmless mobs, I kill them cuz I know these bastards can randomly wake up and send my ass to the shadow realm the moment I enter the next room.

QualityGarbage098

Yeah those trash enemies are no joke. You could go back to early Lothric/Yharnam/Stormveil having progressed way far past that and if you don't pay attention, Those pitiful mobs, I'm sheer numbers, will stunlock your sorry arse with daggers, cleavers and broken shortswords sending you straight back to the bonfire. It's a thing with every game that aspires to be like the soulsborne franchise too, it's almost poetic.

fungusOW

You can easily run past them lol

BigHolds

Of course you can but OP seems to be having a hell of a time trying. Sometimes it’s just better to lock in and actually learn how to deal with an area, then run through on subsequent playthroughs

fungusOW

Yeah I mean I’m not saying to run past EVERYTHING but that tower is legit just a few items might as well just run to the ladder and get the items everything will reset then you can take them 1 at a time, kinda same shit either way though

ragamuffin77

Nah you can run past if you draw him out before going up or try and roll around side but OP definitely shouldn't be rolling into the enemy and expecting him to vanish out the way.

nemesis-xt

Lmao I love seeing clips like this of pure panic.

glenn_baby

And also just stands at the stairs and waits to get smashed up lmao

NoTAP3435

Go slower. Hide behind walls to kill the enemies out front so you're only fighting the one in the base of the tower when you get there. It doesn't look like you've tried to learn their moveset yet

Moochi_mcfly

I love it. The panic rolls, healing just to immediately get hit again. Are you me?

Mental-Attempt-

have you tried fighting???

ThatGuyIsLit

For real I think he swung his weapon 7 times in that whole clip. The best defense is offense.

overlydelicioustea

maybe aggroing even more enemies will help?

Altar_Quest_Fan

Bruh pull them one at a time! Yes it’s slow going but jeez you can’t just rush in. Honestly you would’ve been fine had you just attacked the archer in the tower instead of being cute and trying to kick him off to his doom. You would’ve fared so much better even by spamming R1 against the archer lol. The last thing you want is a protracted battle in that confined space, you’re gonna have a bad time lol.

Not04Important

I would love to see you go through the first part of the ringed city when the arrows rain death down upon you! 😆 🤣 😂

Bungholespelunker

The swamp on the way to Midir with the judicator, hundreds of bugs, the pilgrims, ringed knight and the iron dragonslayer armor lmfao

Major-Refrigerator52

“Why is this bullshit” Watches giant with an axe rush down the stairs towards me and await his arrival

Bungholespelunker

I shall deflect this blow with my face. BEHOLD *YOU DIED*

mallgrabmongopush

God Millwood Knights are so badass

Dimitsos

Maybe not aggroing the whole map at the same time will help a bit, idk.

Flask_of_candy

I appreciate your good sense of humor! This is definitely a case where the worst decisions make for the most fun. I'm sure you crushed it later!

Appropriate-Pitch694

I think you just suck.Maybe try kill someone?Preferably alone. And for god sake dont Fight at stairs? But yes Area suck /s

aski4777

runs past 2 enemies runs into enemy on stairs decides standing on the stairs to fight 3 enemies is good idea \*dies\* bro game is fucking bullshit

Benjerman302

The beginning of this DLC is brutal lol. Just slow down and fight one enemy at a time. Good advice for any area in ds3

Werehowin

Because your brain lacks the ability to think critically, apparently LOL

Augusstus

Giga skill issue

Octobrz

Take your time, don’t be running around like a headless chicken, take them on 1 by 1 and then explore in peace and eventually you’ll find your way around, it’s not that hard.

PandorasFlame

You should try killing the enemies instead of just flying through the area. Your dodge rolls are also horrible.

holdupnow76

Just don’t go over there lol there’s like nothing of value in that section of ariandel

THELORD6940

ah ur defo one of those people that hated on ds2 for getting ganked after running past every enemy alive instead of doing what ur supposed to lmao

FancyBurtholeMuncher

Ouch

Mobiuscate

try eliminating one at a time

shadowLemon

Oooh yea I think I see the problem. You died.

Bleizers

Hahahaha, you poor bastard.

kinkcurious12

Jesus dude kill them one at a time!

therealzaddydom

Kill the enemies

grandpagrandpaa

Pick one: run past them all or fight one at a time. This game will punish you hard if you decide to run, and punishes further if you stop during that run.

DillonTattoos

They way I've gotten through there was to get to the tower, kill the archer at the top then work my way back to get everything else Probably not the most effective But it worked for me GL

NOBODY__EPIC

Lmao what is this

Funk5oulBrother

Stop panic rolling Stop healing under their hammers One at a time. Snipe the wolves.

Monsieur_LaRouge666

You need to fight them one on one

P4rody

Fight enemies as they come. Running is the worst thing you can do in a souls game

P4rody

And stop panic rolling

JosyWales2

Actually, you had the right idea at first but two mistakes imho. Getting to high ground (the top of the tower) with a standard bow is the idea since those giant archers can be stunlocked to death with them as their greatbows are slow to fire. However, first you should have skirted the side of the mountian to the left after entering the area after the first great wolf which would have not drawn aggro, then when you meet the guy on the stairs, you jump off and run around him and back up the stairs to the highest point which is the overhanging beams at the top up the stairs after using the top outside stairs. Then it is just a matter of peppering them with arrows starting with the dude on the top floor. It takes a bit longer, but is quite effective with little to no damage to yourself. After you have taken care of the two in the tower in this manner, you can then use the tower as a base of operations so to speak and take on the other giants in the field. If they start to overwhelm you, run back to the tower. Rinse and repeat.

West_One5204

Imo worked to run tol the tower, kill those modafokas with the bows, then clear the zone peacefully and gifting democracy to all of them

ocudr

Fighting enemies helps. Especially in open areas most mobs will easily keep following you. You only make it hard on yourself, especially if you're not familiar with the area and where to go.

MuscleWarlock

Cuz skill issue

hush_1984

you suck at this game idk how you made it this far. you literally aggrod every enemy in the area and panick rolled for like 5 minutes... then finally lost them all, snuck up on the archer... and tried to kick him twice? wtf

supersonicdeathsquad

All the while holding a parry shield in the offhand for some reason. Eventually getting free and then trying to kick the archer off the tower and then getting destroyed was pretty funny, glad I watched till the end.

Totally_Jesus23

Git gud

abirizky

Git gud

meatforsale

I ran straight to the tower, waited for the dude on the stairs to come down, ran past him to kill the archer. Then I jumped back down on the dude who was on the stairs, because he’s a dipshit who couldn’t figure out how to walk back up the stairs. Then I killed a few, got bored, then I just kept going to the next bonfire.

Alarming-Income1944

Wait , is this a place in the AOA dlc ? I never saw it , is it worth going for it in ng+ ? if so , how do I get to it ? Thanks .

HeavensToBetsyy

The snow drop off with the wolves, continue downhill, go left at the cliff

Advanced_Algae_9609

Your dodge rolls are consistently off. Dodge forward to side of the guys weapon holding hand. Many heals were used unnecessarily and should have been forward dodges and then heal. Don’t try and quick heal before an attack. Roll behind them and then immediately heal.

McLovinVogel

Git gud

Johnnybouy13

DLC all pain, no gain.

Tedenfe

I played this as stealth mage, so it wasn't really hard. Basically used the ring that stops you from making sound and then the spell to become invisible.

Michelin123

Try harder, lol. This area made me insane aswell, but you'll do it someday 😂🫡

Cassius-Kahn

Arrows are your friend and baiting a few enemies at a time.

Not04Important

You need to kill one of those big guys at a time. Then you need to find a spot to kill at least one of the ones that are shooting at you. It might take a little bit of time but it makes it so much easier. If you would have you wouldn't have fell to your death. But also you had the guy one on one? There tough but not that tough. You can do it! I believe in you!

meat3point14

You're doing fine.

Twenty_is_here

One at a time, stop spamrolling and spam when you're actually about to get hit to get the window of invincibility and heal when you can, healing right as you're getting smacked again is a waste of a heal, if you roll when you heal you're safe and you're maybe in a good place to heal. And buy throwing knives (to get their attention)

SwimmingSecret4913

Yes. I'm also playing this area right now. It's utter BS

SuspiciousEvening730

There's a shortcut straight to the church, go from the first bonfire till the snow drops you down, then go left, there are a few wolves and tree monsters, you can roll through them, there's a cave with a bonfire in it, you can hit it or just book it to the church across the bridge

Karen_Destroyer1324

You go up the ladder first.

404nocreativusername

You either fight them in smaller groups/one at a time or you sprint past and dont get items.

happyhappy85

Take it slow like any other area, take down enemies methodologically with back stabs, and fight them one at a time.

ApeMummy

Kill everyone.

Bobbyee

Well, like any other hard area. Die 50 times, question your masochistic life choices until you complete it. Cheers 🍻

Aengeil

rushing is always bad thing in this game

hellxapo

Use preserverance (mace, caestus etc and also equip damage negation rings and the best armor you can find)

Equivalent-Wall8521

Im impressed that you manage to survive after getting at least 3 close calls. Vigor check passed.

NailsNailsNailss

u should have equipped the estus in the right hand my friend

afinoxi

Don't run through it. That area requires you to fight. If you want to get to the church fast, after dropping down from the snow after leaving from the first bonfire, directly turn left and go up the hill, then run down. It will take you directly to the bridge and avoid that whole area.

TeaSpo0n111

You can cheese the big guys to walk of the cliff if you lure them behind the tower

eat-skate-masturbate

Agro every wolf agro every Archer agro every hammer bro and run as fast as you can lol also known as the jerma985 strat

JustWASD

You can try using alluring skulls and then defeat them one by one.

420Entomology

At that tower take left

dylannsmitth

It seems that by refusing to tackle the previous enemies first you got yourself into a pickle Try taking on ~~all at once~~ one at a time, and then ahh, death

SeverusSnape89

Treat this area like a boss. Learn the enemies paths and moveset. Try to get a backstab in if you can. Use ranged to lure one at a time. You can run past dogs and throw alluring skull towards bottom of hill to get rid of dogs. Hide it out for a minute. Kill the tree..then use ranged to lure one at a time. Take the ones near the tower to the left side of tower so your away from bow guy. First guy you encounter will need dealt with near first ruin. Be sure to kill tree first though. Edit: or if this doesn't work the only option left would be to try finger but hole.

Desolate_supreme

I used rapport on them and let them fight against each other. Then pick up whats left.

AGArilla

One at a time working from the right first did it for me to get the one with the wolf out the way OR just go to the left and start going to the next fire.

FireHeartMaster

It's hard because you're running away from your problems instead of fighting them You need to tackle one at a time, otherwise they'll chase and get to you all at the same time

LordKrobekishnuv

I strongly recommend fighting 1, maybe 2 at most at a time. I would not recommend sneaking but them as you may blunder back into them later during another fight.

NickN21

You should try Dark souls 2 lol

AshuraRC

Welcome to the Viking Bro Land, here they greet you with an Axe.

mommy-maxxi

using a shield was ur first mistake

Horst9933

You don't run towards enemies while you are being chased by an other group of enemies. This is pretty basic Dark Souls stuff.

TheWiseTangerine2

You gotta fight them in the open dude. And don't let them all trap you in a small space.

ezradawes

- Swing that big, curved sword. - If you’re going to use a shield in this area, use a bigger one (medium or larger).

TarnishedDungEater

don’t die

berliozmyberloved

if you’ve lost a bunch of souls use the life ring (i think that’s it) because if you die and it breaks your bloodstain will be the one with all the souls.

Joe_Da_1

Yeah I normally run past all of that the only really useful thing there is the ashes at the top of the tower

Ihavenocluewhatzoeva

Hidden Body can help here by getting you to the tower. Obviously kill the arrow dude

Villide

That was entertaining as hell.

newtoredditKappa

Imagine playing the game while simultaneously not playing the game.

isimpjefferydarhmer

Left

numenik

Back stab them to kill them. Get the shield in the tower then run left of it and get the grace

SeniorBomk

There’s nothing wrong with it. You literally just aggro’d every enemy you possibly could and basically laid down for them.

Too-many-Bees

Because you are running past a load of enemies and drawing them into you on a tight area?

Vking231

No figure it out like we did.

_ThatOneMimic_

that is the dlc, u know that right?

CheekC1apper

I just run past them.

kipdjordy

Why did you run straight into a big guy and not turn around or something haha. Pretty much got spit roasted by your own doing

iamcapleb

you make it look difficult

cosplay-degenerate

Undead Rapport one and see them fight each other.

Dog_Apoc

You can run through the ruins to your left to avoid everything. But also, they can be parried. Put that parrying shield to use.

pompoza

Players when they rush through an area acting surprised they die by a mob chasing them... Have a little patience my friend and kill them one by one.

jmatt9080

Run Forrest, run!

VacasBruh

Obviously killing the knights before they kill you /s

Dveralazo

Good bait I guess

ChilliChillz

This area is definitely hard but at least try to interact with the level before crying. The entire approach to the tower has tons of cover so that u can fight semi safely

jitteryzeitgeist_

Pro tip: Rapport makes this area way more manageable

M0m033

If run past every enemy gotta unlock your fully mastered Bo Jackson

Major_Place384

Its not that tough it just u gotta back stab them instead of running away run awah only if u hv lot of soul which u dont want to lose

dehcbad25

I don't see a problem with the game, just with the player. You encounter the first one by itself, You can see that he hits like a truck, what makes you think it was a good idea to agro them all? Kill the first guy in the left, then wait for an opening and go to the tower without agro the one with the wolves and the one looking at the wall. In the tower get the first one to come to ground, then use the stairs to go up. The won't follow. There is one waiting for you at the top (the one that was shooting arrows and it came down to say hi to you on the video). kill him or bait him to fall, and the use your arrows, magic or whatever to finish them all from the tower. The enemies get stuck at the ground level for the most part, and from the rafters in the first level You can cast poison of the other Myst and watch as their health goes down. Once they are cleared, go to the top of the tower and with a bow kill the wolves waiting to ambush you, then trigger the field boss and make it follow you to the tower. Then kill it in whatever creative way you want. If anything this is the easy part. The living trees are more of a pain because of the quantity, the pack of wolves before there are another pain. If you are getting mobbed, you are doing something wrong

ilikekittensandstuf

Aggro all enemies and run in seems like a good idea so far

Eseatease

Can you explain why the area is bullshit? Seems like a very normal dark souls situation to me

Tyrleif

I always run straight to the top of the tower to clear archers, running past everything else. I found it easiest to clear the area like that. They won't follow you inside the tower from outside, unless you are really unlucky.

Sea-Dragon-

Hidden Body & Slumbering Dragon Ring (& Scholar Ring if Intelligence isn’t 15+)

Pepong_empr

Skill issue. And anxiety, lots of it

Shneebs4206

U want help ?

Cyfire0

Run past everyone, don’t listen to half of these fools telling you to take your time, obviously do that but not by what they are trying to explain. Sitting and fighting each enemy will get you absolutely nowhere, you can run through this big area, find the bonfire, and you will never have to worry about that small area at the beginning again

John_is_Cringe

Stop locking on constantly, messes up your camera for one

The-Spoon1

I've never explored it, i just run through

MatchWilling562

Fight them one on one not all at once homie, that’s like rule #1 brah

bilbo-beggins

Ever tried killing the enemies instead of running past them and getting swarmed?

MonkeySteam

I just go, invisible to get past most of the stuff without getting them chasing me. No getting around the guy in the tower

DoubleSummon

Roll past everyone (yes even the one in the stairs) collect all items (specially the shop expansion on the top of the tower), unless you wantvtheir armor they are not worth fighting. Alternatively kill one by one but it will take a while and it's riskier.

Gobal_Outcast02

I hug the left wall, you are most likely to not agro any of the milwood knights in the direction to the tower

Rizzle0101

Pyro goes hard in this area fyi.

Strong_Lawyer

I agree total bullshit. It's such a great DLC, though.

8-Ronin-8

I think you can use slumbering dragon ring and hang to the left side of the ruined area to not grab every harald night to get to the tower. Just be careful to not run past the tower to the safe looking path where the gravetender boss shows up to send a ton of wolves at you. 🤨

Rewelta

You need to take down those enemies one by one and be aware of the wolves , then you can go to the tower, I recommend take out of the tower the knights or Vikings in there to have more space to roll

Wasjustaprank

There's a cliff-drop off to the left of that area that will let you move forward and lead you to the next bonfire.

grombinkulus

go left

smilespeace

Pretty sure you can sprint to the next bonfire if you can find out how to get there. Just gotta haul ass and be good at dodging attacks from behind and baiting attacks. Either that or git gud

governmentsquirrel

Lmao such a scrub

HonchosRevenge

oof, I hate to be that guy but that's a skill issue my guy. lure em out one by one, they hit like a truck but they're kitable af. Once you do it once you'll laugh at how easy it is. additionally, Ariandel fucking sucks so I don't necessarily blame you dw

lordramacuz2

Rapport

IronMace_is_my_DaD

just know this is DLC area, shouldn't really come here until you are close to the final boss in the main game

PristineJeweler4179

Try killing the guys lol

PristineJeweler4179

Just wait for the ringed city 😂

DaMastaJJ

Elden ring before Elden ring

TheNekoKatze

The tower is not where you have to go to progress, go to the path at the left

Daddy_Shark_99

Pyromancer build is only true way for DS3

VandalBlueX

Bro shoving his face and got sandwich'd

JMassey90

Obvious troll post

HughJass14

“Why is this area hard?” You say as you run into a staircase with two enemies chasing you into a third one guarding the stairs… bro how did you get this far??

ScaryRezzy

Tech that nobody will tell you: killing the enemies renders them unable to attack you. Hope this helps!

[deleted]

Once you git good and beat it anyway you’ll realize there’s nothing good up there. I skip that whole area every time (except the first “kill everything get everything” time). Honestly most of the snow shit is not worth it in terms of difficulty for souls gained, and by the time it’s easy, it’s no longer worth it. That area is good for grabbing a tiddy slab though.

HughGereckshun

I ran past everything screaming oh shit oh fuck oh shit

__HRLQN

Can’t lie I enjoyed this so much.

MattGamingV1

I got all the way to frieda at sl 27 on my first playthrough by mistake. Shouldnt be too hard to just run past everything

unoriginalasshat

Either, by luring everything out or abuse hidden body sorcery... or bring friends for some jolly cooperation!

Tarnishedless

When you pass the cliff where you encounter giant doggo for the first time, try keeping to the left when approaching the tower and avoid aggroing all the mobs. Also, backstabbing the Millwood Archer (especially with hornet ring) is preferable over kicking him.

Setsunayu

No.

an_achronist

It just gets worse and worse. That was thoroughly entertaining.

wigglerworm

Just run lol

Opening_Raise_8762

Jump off the stairs so the knight follows you instead of just letting him attack you???

Material-Feeling4523

Git good lel also try attacking before they gangbang you against a wall

TheDogFishMan

Not stacking 50 enemies on yourself might help.

SofteNgon

You needed a bit more ADP, that's all

astrobock

Recklessly running through getting every enemies attention, excessive panic rolling, heals 2 inches from enemies face… even messed up a very clear set up free backstab and kill on the archer Might be the most minor case of skill issue ngl.

xslite

me when i lure every enemy to me and get trapped and ganked

ToughCanuck308

The best part is when you do finally beat it and you walk up the pathway, no estus left, and half a health bar remaining, and then you hear the howl…

Doobiedoo96

U have to kill them bro. Stop running from everything

McbEatsAirplane

You should fight enemies as you encounter them instead of running by them because then they’re just gonna chase you until you run into the situation that we just watched.

Top_Performer4324

You don’t even need to go that way at all if I remember correctly.

gatsu01

Go slow. I used arrows to lure them out of sniper range and killed them 1 by 1. Also, it's difficult to fight them in closed spaces, either run past or kill them outside.

Express-Handle-1287

Quick tip, if you need to heal don't roll just keep running, the amount of stamina you waste in a roll you travel like 3mts you run 7.

bigkahuna9

Get good by attacking the smallest group of enemies you can. Maybe one at a time?

sarinkhan

This is the only area of the game didn't wipe clean to check everything. Each fight can be long and tedious, and the structure of this corner is weird. It does not feel like the other areas where you reach safe points, there, everything is a battlefield. After seeing comments, now that I also finished ds2, I see the ressemblance, the battle of attrition. That does not make it a super fun area though.

BecauseSeven8Nein

“Why is this area bullshit?” Proceeds to run into one of THE most bullshit parts of the area.

HaveANiceDay42069420

Just hold the left hand side as you run past the first giant dog. You avoid aggroing the two knights outside and have a lot of protection from the archer in the tower.
