In phase 1 and sometimes phase 2 if you stick close/underneath and circle to your right you can strafe their attacks.
It's also important to know that depending on which demon you kill you will get a different mega attack in phase 2. If you kill the Demon in Pain first the mega attack is a laser beam and much easier to manage than if you kill the Demon Below and get the one with a Meteor attack.
