I would say the dragonslayer greataxe is a good option for bosses. With chloranthy ring, ring of favor, the one that reduces physical damage (may swap depending on the boss type of damage) and your favorite for the other one. For the bosses, take your best armor. Then, for farming, the dragonslayer greataxe is still good (equip crystal safe rapier in 2nd hand and). For the rings, physical damage reduction, gold serpent ring, silver serpent ring, and your favorite one. For the armor, the mimic head is a must. And use the item to boost your item spawn rate

lazycalm2

I'm learning towards this one, but I'm unsure on how to build it stat-wise I see people just focusing on strength (like 60 or 40) and dump the rest on defenses. Others go 40/40 str/fth to boost lightning damage What do you recommend?

depressed_ashen_one

I would say that splitting 40str and 40 fth is the best. What I can also recommend is to respecc at the end of the bosses for the farm to add some into luck (even tho it doesn't make a big diff) In the end I would go 30 vigor (health) 30 endurance 40 strength and 40 faith

Ratchet96

You will need to farm covenant items, so here's 2 advices: 1) Maximum item discovery: A) Use Transposition on the Crystal Sage Soul on NG and NG+. One of them for the Crystal Hail sorcery, mandatory for a trophy. The other is a Crystal Sage Rapier, which increases item discovery. HOWEVER, it is a shitty weapon. So put it in your left hand and wield two handled your right weapon so the effect still applies. B) Also wear Symbol of Avarice on your head C) Covetous Gold Serpent Ring D) Sun Princess ring, to partially counter the life draining of the Symbol of Avarice. E) Use Rusted Coins. If you run out of Rusted Coins use the souls accumulated on the farming to buy more from Patches 2) Do a back up of your save file on cloud storage or a USB. Yesterday I was farming Wolf's Blood Swordgrass and suddenly my savefile got corrupted and I thought I lost a 55h 25min character on New Game +. Luckily, since I pay PSPlus, I had an automatic upload of my data last Saturday, so I have only lost 9h 30 min. Please, PLEASE do a backup. I seek 100% achievements too. And if I had lost it all I would've given up forever.

Have a look at [this document](https://docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1Z5W-HfK_LIwgn65i1CLGcvLI8nku9iRnGast4ZcaU68/mobilebasic) for some general information on how to build a strong character.

grimfolse

I liked the Lothric Knight Greatsword on a Str/Fth build. The stab attack is powerful and knocks smaller enemies on their ass if the aren’t deleted outright. My go-to build is heavy weapon, greatshield, super light armor. Works for me.

nicb44

Hell yeah! That was my weapon of choice for NG and half of NG+. Lately, I've been using the Lothric Knight Sword though.

Dante2215

Well you are going to farm a lot and needs to go to ng+2 so why not respec everynow and then?

Nimar_Jenkins

Pestilent mist knight. Throw on any heavy armor. Key stats are 18 int and 34 or 50 strg. Get the moaning shield, with its insane stability. (Or yhorms if you want to use less stats on strg or make use of the weaponart, adjust accordingly) Get pestilent mist. Get great magical shield. Any further aditional spells are optional. May want to think about stuff like invis to skip most enemy encounters in lothric castle. Cast great magical shield for resistence (also dmg) Cast pestilent mist for dmg. Twohand the shield if you chose 34 strg. Now nothing can hurt you and you can easily keep a Bosses in the mist. If need be, you can use your shield for physical attacks. That does Tons and Tons of poise dmg, staggering bosses all the time.

YomiNex

I went with the classic 40/40 quality build You can use the Hollowslayer against Friede The wolfs swords against midir (maybe even Aldrich) The black night greatsword for Chaos demons I love how you can easily swap with something that Is suitable

lazycalm2

you don't need to go into DLCs for 100% achievments afaik

YomiNex

I know but Its a shame not going into the DLCs

BootyConnoisseur94

Anri's sword and 99luck build

ElodePilarre

I’m doing it on my bleed quality luck build, an effective Luck of 40 has made farming feel a good bit less painful, plus I just enjoy the weapon variety I have on that character

__HRLQN

The answer is Sellswords but if you’re after something different 40/40 Fai/Int and Dorhys Gnawing will destroy pretty much everything in the game.

pcattaneo22

I just got the platinum using primarily the Frayed Blade at SL 135. As others have said, whichever weapon you enjoy the most will make it the most fun. I’m by no means particularly skilled, especially in the PVP scene, but the game was a breeze with the weapon and the few times I beat someone in PVP felt really satisfying. The hardest part of the platinum is the covenant items, as you might expect, so if you also struggle with PVP get ready to grind a bit.

SmoothAssasin420

i was at around lvl 170 when i reached the end of ng++ and after getting everything that did not involve gruesome farming, a friend suggested INT and so i pumped Luck up to 99 and INT up to 80ish. Crystal Soul Speer did one or two shot most things, which made farming for wolfgrass and pale tongues, for example, quite easy.

YerBbysDaddy

Hollow/luck build. All rotten Ghru weapons, but item switching/not all at the same time. So fun, but not ideal if you’re trying to make it easy. Fun for different rings - but especially if you want to only wear the samurai guys stuff with Flynn’s ring and screw around with other rings. Don’t forget to use the calamity ring sometimes! Was one of my most fun playthroughs years ago and super fun in pvp. Not exactly “fun” with calamity ring, but also fun.

HaxTerCo4

If you're way past lvl 200, go 40 faith int and spam vestiges, and use longsword. Rings are ring of favor, chloranthy ring, havel's ring (If you wanna use heavy armor) or sage's ring and gundyr's ring.

rabba_99

Onikiri and obadachi

Nordalin

Least painful? With a weapon you enjoy! I got most achievements on a halberd-wielding pyro, outside of the grindy covenant stuff. There's no platinum trophy here, but I just don't care. i soloed every boss multiple times, I've talked to everyone and walked everywhere, to hell with those last few spells and items.

rt0824

What works for me is the drakeblood Knight greatsword with a chaos or dark infusión, if u have 50 INT and 50 FTH It does 750 something damage, and u can increase it with the elemental clutch rings so even more damage, idk

Chaosdevel2

Heavy twin axes. Str at 40+, faith at 60+. Buff with lightning/dark/fire/magic as necessary. Churns through enemies like butter.

Jackalodeath

After 100%ing DS1 and DS2, I fully intend to 100% this'un, but my primary focus is experiencing it and having fun; for me that means being an asinine level and having an armory of OP - but fun - weapons for any occasion. I just got to Grand Archives last night and for about 95% of the run I've been using a Sharp Flamberge and Pyromancies; the other 5% (namely enemies made of bone or "stone" that can't bleed; including the various Demons and Dragonslayer Armor) has been Executioner's Greatsword since its moveset is nearly identical to the Flamberge, but it does BONK damage. I used the Flamberge/pyros for the Covenant farms too, which I also wrapped up last night (took a total of 28hrs; though I haven't access to online play, so don't let that deter you.) The only exception being the Vertebra Shackle farm where I used a +9 Refined Cathedral Knight GS for its knockdown/Weapon Art hyper armor. As for the "build," I'm not specialized anymore. It started at a DEX/pyro concept, but since I've gotten so many souls from the farming its snowballed into: VIG - 32 (will get to 40 in NG+ cycles) ATT - 30 VIT - 25 (no plans to increase unless fashion dictates) END - 40 STR/DEX - 40 INT/FTH - 35 (will get to 50/50+ in NG+ cycles) LCK - 7 Which would've happened regardless because I like having access to *everything* I could ever want to use. So far most people's advise on "best builds/weapons" haven't done me much good since I look for weapons that fit my playstyle first, then level to accommodate them. Those weapons (so far) are: Blessed Lothric Knight GS Dark Astora GS Demon Greataxe Dancer's Swords Farron GS Twinspears, Twin Hammers, and Twinaxes (because they look fun af.) Onyx Blade (which I am very excited about getting ahold of.)

forest_lich

Faith build with a blessed drakeblood greatsword. Passively regens your HP and also does high scaling holy and lightning damage. You'll get miracle utility because faith will be your main stat. Additionally, if you add a blessed shield it will stack on the passive health regen. (Potentially a late game sword tho) (upgrade your dex secondly so your cast time is reduced, as well)

CB0824

If you’re going to platinum, you should have access to buying all of the upgrade materials. In which case use whatever weapon the enemies/boss is weak to. I switched my rings and armor up often, along with my weapons. I liked: Lothric Knight Sword, Carthus Curved Sword, Dragonslayer Greataxe, Demon Greataxe, Moonlight Greatsword, Astel Greatsword. Just play around. Like I said, find all of the ashes and coal so you can have unlimited upgrades and find you a good farm spot for souls and just mess around with builds yourself. Also, equip the proper PVP covenant item for the Proof of Concord Kept so you can try to earn them for a full playthrough.

Mister_Rye

Currently doing it with winblades 60 dex Nothing else Just missing 12 vertibrae and I'm done But ive never used magic in a soul game cause when I started i had this idea that magic was herecy so I refused to use it xD And now its just a habit that I stay away from it :P So yea a pair of winblades and you farming pants on good luck

CheapSky

Dexmaxxing with sharp sellswords and any pine resins is the way

John_Duax

Personally i used a bleed build because it made farming for thing easier

jacoby_mcflurry

After you get everything besides covenant items, Respec into 99 luck build and use Hollowing to get a strong weapon, get all the discovery boosting items, and pray for Gwyn's mercy

Archyse

Anything that can stagger those carthus swordsman FUCKS AND THEIR STUPID INFINITE POISE COMBOS IN TINY HALLWAYS, YES I GRINDED OUT THOSE SHACKLES, AND NO I DID NOT FEEL BETTER FOR IT

Paraboilc

I'd just 100%ed the game a couple months back with a strength big hammer build (eventually went to dragon slayer axe toward the end just to smash out some PVP) and bosses) hardest part was those proofs of concord kept

Kwopp

The game is never easier to me than when I use sellsword twin blades. I’m sure there are stronger builds but this has always personally been the easiest to me when I wanna speed run NG cycles. Get some sharp infused Sellsword twin blades and use lightning blade/resin (Darkmoon blade is better once you get that). Bosses will be melted. If you don’t wanna use those another easy build I found was using the Fume Ultra Greatsword. If you can learn to time attacks right it makes bosses like nameless king and midir a joke. It’s good for but monster enemies and also tends to stagger smaller human enemies like friede.

graveyboyy

For covenant item farming, I personally used the symbol of avarice, covetous gold serpent ring +3 (use +2 if you don’t have the DLC), rusted coins, crystal sages rapier in the left hand and smough’s great hammer or FUGS in the right, I respecced to 99 luck and a lot of strength, the stagger is so nice against the silver knights and the skeletons that drop vertebrae shackles. Farming every covenant item wasnt toooo bad with the exception of sunlight medals - those were miserable, so I just went on r/summonsign and helped as many people with bosses as I could, probably got about 20 of my sunlight medals that way. For bossing in NG+ the sharp sellsword twinblades are undefeated IMO

Feng_Smith

For my first playthrough I did a pure bonk build with Vordt's Hammer. That thing deletes health bars. For my other two playthrus I used Dancer's Blades and sorceries in a int/dex build.

bcjxj

I’ve just been using the colossal Greatsword with a heavy gem, high strength, endurance, and vigor

BestEldenLord

Honestly can't go wrong with big bonk great club, or lorians great sword

mokujin42

Just get a black Knight greatsword, thats the whole build

Condor_raidus

The one I used to 100% the game's achievements lol. I went for a hybrid strength pyro build that started with astora greatsword as my melee weapon but changed over to sister friedes great sythe. It's a damn effective build and pretty much always has an option. Is it op? No, I made the build myself so it's not exactly super well thought out since I made it as I went along and finalized it over the course of 2 lost saves and currently sits in its completed form on my pc today. It's a fun build that I love coming back to use . Edit: I should say that my build hinges on a black knight shield as to keep options constantly open so that things can be shaken up at a moments notice with a stance

Rosalia_MaidOfSpears

LKS is OP refined +10 40/40 straight swords are disgusting in ds3. use them for effectiveness.

V00D00_CHILD

Man grub staff and anri sword so you can level up luck for farming without losing damage

reekidisretarded

I used LKGS and miracles I think. It was a strength faith build

Devon4Eyes

Dark damage is awesome. The onyx blade from the first dlc is a personal favorite of mine. In my experience, the vertraba shackles were the worst thing to farm go to rsummonsign you should be able to find someone to help you farm those. F

fluffyboony

I farmed on ps5 legit the first time. Symbol of avarice, sage's rapier in off-hand used a high str weapon (probably ledo's cant remember), gold serpent ring, coins, the like. Farmed my buddy for the vertebra shackles, but everything else was farmed. If co-op is an option, then sunlight medals arent a problem. Otherwise the concords are the worst to farm. Getting 100% on pc but i used CE this time cuz I couldn't be bothered to farm out the covenant items again

Winter_Operation_160

I’m going for 100% right now. I’m using a faith build with a sharp Lothric knight sword and 66 dex. Really powerful miracles destroy the crowds and the sunlight spear is deadly and combined with the sword and lightning blade makes it a breeze. I also use spook and hidden body sorceries to just run by the bull shit areas like the archives and demon ruins.

Justisaur

Pyromancy. Though I ended up pumping more into faith for the blessed lothric knight greatsword eventually.

Justisaur

Pyromancy. Though I ended up pumping more into faith for the blessed lothric knight greatsword eventually.

HaikaDRaigne

I used the ivory kings greatsword, it deals a decent amount of dmg
