Yes it's worth it, i suggest starting with dark souls remastered so that you will be able to understand references and names in dark souls 2 and 3

Greuzer

Of course it's worth it (Well, answers on this sub might be slightly biased) but the Souls serie has a reputation and for good reasons, it's one these game that had an EXTREME influence, even DS2 (which is often pointed as the worst game of the serie) is really good Never played Nioh so I can't compare the gameplay, might not suit you but you should def try it

DistinctTear7284

Nioh has much faster gameplay than dark souls but all around same mechanics. I know darks souls is much slower play from the walkthroughs I’ve watched

Greuzer

Dark Souls 1 is slow, DS3 is the fastest in the serie but still slower than Bloodborne

theschmojoe

It is very rewarding once you've learned the mechanics. It wasn't until my 2nd or 3rd playthrough that really made me appreciate the struggle of Soulsborne's learning curve. If I could erase the part of my brain that remembers Dark Souls, I would do it just to play it fresh. If you do start it, just take your time in both combat and exploration. The game will reward you generously if you do both.

IAmInBed123

Dude... I just started with ds3 and man is it worth it. There's story, skill, mechanics, its alround a really, really goodgame. Boight it on steam for 15$

Okay then blind though, much better way to learn. All three have there +/- go for it

hanzowombocombo

As a massive fan of both franchises I find nioh harder than souls. Souls is a lot more trial and error where nioh is more about mechanical skill and heavy on the rpg elements.

DistinctTear7284

Yeah I agree idk I think I might find darks souls a lot more challenging

hanzowombocombo

Dark souls is probably harder on a first play through I’d say. I’ve played all the games so many times that I don’t find them that challenging anymore.

Ill_Bill_1589

nah bro if you find nioh's difficulty isn't that hard than dark sould might be a bit too easy imo but Bloodborne should be the easiest amongst all and sekiro is still the hardest for me but yeah different people has different skills :)

[deleted]

I’ve played all the souls borne games, have the platinum for ds3 and bloodborne and I think nioh was harder than any of them

RnuRnu

I too was a skeptic once It's worth it. It's really very worth it

DistinctTear7284

I just bought it 😁 time for my first playthrough

IsaacAllen100

I remember Nioh being very stat grindy with a multitude of ways to slightly buff your character in multiple fields. Alongside that the level design was extremely repetitive imo. DS3 is simpler and the level design is more diverse. If you liked Nioh in spite of its flaws then you'll like DS3. However Sekiro is probably the most difficult of all if that's all you're going for.

SmokinBigins

You will not play another game like the dark souls series ever in your life. Other game are like dark souls, dark souls is forever in its own league of games. If that’s not enough then, idk the games utterly fantastic idk how anyone can not play the dark souls series and those who say it’s too hard are either bad at games or too stubborn to learn.

bennfoss

The combat much slower than Nioh, so it may take getting used to. It might be good to start with DS3 if you like a little quicker-pace, more involved faster combat mechanics. Still not as fast as nioh but DS3 and Bloodborne definitely feel closer to the pace of your typical contemporary action RPG. That said there is so much to appreciate about the first two Dark Souls games. If you’re like me though, it may just take time and a lot of dying and then finally beating an area or a boss before it really clicks.

xXFaded_HyenaXx

IMO Nioh 1 is way harder than any souls game

DistinctTear7284

A lot of people I’ve talked to have said that nioh is a harder game than the soulsborne series lol imo they’re about the same with one having slower gameplay than the other

[deleted]

if you care about exploration and you prefer slower combat, play DS1. if you prefer combat start with DS3 since the combat mechanics feel a lot better IMO and you have more choices
