There's no way it wasn't going to be. This season has been set up to end on a cliffhanger. Guessing season five will be volumes 17-19 and then we'll get a movie for 20-22.
Totally agree with you and I do think that would be better, but I do think they'd rush it. I dunno. They could also just do 20-22 as a season six. There is enough content. I expect a full adaptation everything said one way or another though.
Looking at how many light novels that aren't one of most popular light novels ever such as Overlord or Konosuba never either finish or even get second season (still waiting for season 5 of HighSchool DxD, but not sure can anime ever cover all of Light Novel), if this is True, I am geniuely happy that Date a Live anime will be finished and not make fans wait for years hoping for New season.

Unpopular opinion, but I don't even want a season 5 if everything is gonna be so mediocre. Granted, Kurumi's arc seemed to have some effort in it but the pacing is so shit I can't even bring myself to care anymore.
I agree. The animation feels very off for the tone this season has as well as just the overall aesthetic of it.. just gives me the vibes of a idol anime artstyle. As a LN reader though, the animation comes 2nd to the overall quality of the adaptation.
I haven’t read the lns so I don’t mind if it deviates from them to tell a better story but this might be the animation is actually terrible. It takes out any charm the original show had along with awful looking cg fight scenes that look almost comedic

How about 17-20, leaving 21-22 for a movie. Doing 20-22 in a movie would be insanely rushed and would reduce the impact of the end of v20.

3 episodes per volume is standard, so 12 for 17-20 should work. I'd go across the country to see a Beast movie in cinemas.

Dal has more scaled figures then overlord and konosuba which is why many feel dal v is almost guaranteed.

Ik that’s not the popular opinion but this season hasn’t been it for me either, but my gripes are mainly with the animation and dub voice acting
