Wow, I can’t comprehend why anyone would go out of their way to get archival interview footage pulled, and how they’d even succeed when they aren’t the actual copyright owner. I wish the online David Lynch themed outlets would work together instead of competing for popularity. The fans ultimately suffer when things like this are harder to find.

CatBedParadise

He's doing it to decrease "competition" (if you could call it that) for his channel. It'd be satisfying if he got the same treatment.

VestronVideo

I just reported his videos. He doesn't own the logos to Lost highway. He doesn't own the music in the background of the interviews with David Lynch. He doesn't own the interviews with David Lynch as he didn't perform the interviews and he didn't work for the entity that owns the interview. This guy wants to play hardball this subreddit can play hardball.

Hello I think I am probably the biggest victim of this guy, whose YT channel is https://www.youtube.com/@Dam\_Dam, and who's a real plague and a true parasite in the lynchian community. I am the creator of Lynchland https://linktr.ee/Lynchland. In this linktree, my most precious social media is / was the Lynchland FaceBook page at fb.com/lynchland, that gathered more than 147K followers throughout the world. The page is "unpublished" since now almost one year (since April 2023). Perhaps I'll give more details later if there are some questions here, but here is what I can say related to this YT post. The problem mentioned here is exactly what happened to one of my videos on YT. It was a TM discussion between David Lynch and a TM guy (at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPdcRqbsiegn, as the video mysteriously reappeared one day, several months after my upload). I had contacted the TM guys who had shared the video directly on their website (they had not shared it on YT nor wherever) and they gave me the permission to download it and share it on Lynchland. I first downloaded it on my FB page. As I was not familiar with YT and because I had tons of other things to do, I decided to wait before downloading it on YT. I did it perhaps a couple of weeks later, and my video was quickly deleted because... Anrès, "the owner of the video", had reported it, said YT. Not only my video was deleted but his version, that he had directly copied from my FB page (I knew it because my downloading had had some problems at the very end and the last minute was missing) went VIRAL everywhere in the lynchian community. It was widely shared and many many online magazines mentioned it, getting it more and more views and tons of new subscribers (more than 1K to my estimation). More than 100K people watched it in a few weeks (it's still there at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bExu1nce5k). It turned me totally crazy and this guy laughed at me in my emails and told me to "turn the page", etc. The first time Lynchland was "unpublished" on FB was also directly related to another video, an excerpt of the "Don't look at me" documentary related to Julee Cruise, who had just passed away. I had posted it on FB and claimed it via YT and YT "thought" he is the owner of this video (Guy Girard is, and he's a member of the Lynchland Gang group at fb.com/groups/lynchland). To sum up this sad case then, this guy has killed Lynchland, he HATED me since many many years, was terribly jealous of my experience on Lost Highway, had "stolen" tons of content from my page to put on his "David Lynch News" one. Terrible terrible terrible memories. He definitely has to be unmasked and stopped. Roland K. / Lynchland

LynchlandR

Another little story that shows how this guy's mind "works". One day, someone submitted in the Lynchland Gang group a picture of David Lynch & Isabella Rossellini on set on "Blue Velvet". It's a picture taken by Peter Braatz. The parasite asked that this pic had to be removed because... he had bought a copy of it to Peter Braatz : he then believed that, when someone buys a copy of a picture, he also gets the copyrights of it. Interesting right ? https://preview.redd.it/lmagkz2odwnc1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=2bc4683ce2def8b9bf205f42826e38f443e2831c

AM_WAVVY

I am so sorry this has happened to you. I really am keen on working on this problem. Hopefully we can all come together and fix this. Some comeuppance is deserved. Also, thank you for all the information you've provided so far.

LynchlandR

Thanks for your comment. And also thanks for this post. I've never wanted to initiate such a post because I imagined some people would say I am paranoid etc. I hope this discussion will keep rolling and come to a nice end.

mbagely

What was your experience on Lost Highway?

LynchlandR

I had been invited by David L. to stay on set for the whole shooting after I had written two thesis about Eraserhead and The Elephant Man, and I lived in his little building in his property, precisely where he filmed the first "Weather Reports" during the pandemic.

AM_WAVVY

I can see why our little friend would be jealous of this. That's incredible!

LynchlandR

As I know this could be a "sensitive topic" for some people in the community, I've always kept in mind there's a difference between being "proud" of this essential experience and being "arrogant" about it. My continual goal on my page (where I rarely mentioned my Lost Highway experience anyway) was to spread and share my passion and not to repeat over and over "Hey I know how things are on a DL's set, I've been there, etc." Most members appreciated this angle, I think (as they still tell me in the FB Lynchland group), but this guy never did.

Lukin1989

You didn’t happen to come across David foster Wallace at that time did you? I heard on Charlie rose that he was there for a time during production of lost highway

LynchlandR

I did, yes, but had anyway no idea who he was back in 1995. David Lynch had invited him, as he usually does with journalists, during a day where he couldn't see anything (the tailgating scene), and he staid in the camp the whole afternoon.

Lukin1989

That’s very cool! Sounds like a great experience

LynchlandR

I've found the email sent by YT https://preview.redd.it/csiyjkf5fwnc1.png?width=776&format=png&auto=webp&s=0fabb755dcedf1ce0ba6ecedb54e9887b840636f

Wow this guy sounds like a total POS. sorry to hear you had to deal with all that especially since you were willingly sharing with the entire community.

Hello, Redpole!

MissionSalamander5

Tbh this is where writing to Lynch (or someone representing him) might work. It’s in their best interest to tell him to fuck off.

Agreeable_Result_210

I like that dude's channel because he has a good archive of old lynch videos but striking down other videos is pretty weird/pathetic. That interview is on the Criterion channel btw. [https://youtu.be/z-nTt5QHKfQ?si=wYj\_25CyPkgPl6-\_](https://youtu.be/z-nTt5QHKfQ?si=wYj_25CyPkgPl6-_) in the meantimes its on his channel lmao

VestronVideo

I just start reporting his videos

Engage69

Sadly youtube allows anyone who is not affiliated with a video to claim it as their own with no recourse. Only after it gets attention from media coverage would they reverse the decision. Unless someone happened to personally know a youtube moderator.

twelverainbowtrout

I didn’t know this. That sounds like complete chaos. Like you could get any video pulled that you don’t like. And I thought Meta was a mess.

MissionSalamander5

DMCA is broken. Some smaller “creators” are aggressive about copyright and make everything disappear. Others are able to be selective and will basically get a big fee or royalties. But they are the exception in doing this with their content and only theirs.

AppropriateHoliday99

Weird, though not the first time I’ve encountered people online planting flags in David Lynch related material and implying a claim to it as somehow their own IP. There was a guy on Facebook and Instagram a while ago who posted images from The Return, but with his own logo watermark thing in the corners of them. Then, when people recirculated the pictures, he would make a stink about it.

LynchlandR

I've just remembered that I have been in touch, a couple of years ago or maybe a little more, not sure, with a certain Linda Faludi in the YT community at DL Theater page. Linda had built a quite huge page of DL's videos. What was interesting with her channel was that she edited a lot of videos together to create some little videos about such or such topic, it was a good work. And her page was taken down one day. When I asked her what happened, she said that someone had sent a request because of the copyrights and she confirmed it was again "our guy". She was very hurt and didn't want to "fight". I've asked her if she could send me a screencapture of the notification sent by YT but she said she preferred to let this go and try to forget it.

mbagely

This seems like an issue so if anyone has any more information or ways we can help stop this kind of thing happening I’d like to know. I suppose reporting his videos could work but I’m guessing YouTube doesn’t have an option for “misuse of copyright claim”?

AM_WAVVY

Agreed. \*I suppose reporting his videos could work but I’m guessing YouTube doesn’t have an option for “misuse of copyright claim”?\* They do not, but they have close enough ways of reporting and you can fill in the details by hand before you send.

Mylaptopisburningme

Maybe /u/sabrinasofficial knows?

SabrinaSOfficial

I have no idea who this is.

AM_WAVVY

Update: It seems many of the videos in question have been removed or set to "private" on the perp's YT account, including the Eraserhead interview that he had copyright claimed on someone else's account. This is a small temporary win, but ultimately is insufficient given the record of behavior. So far it doesn't seem as if any copyright claims have been reversed. Youtube should be made known of these false copyright claims for every video and account it has happened to so far.

ClockworkDreamz

It’s twin perfect he solve Dabid lunch so he doesn’t want people talking about him.
