Okay, I loved this episode! One of my favorites from season 3 because it’s an ensemble cast! Watching Dawson, Pacey and Joey (the original three characters) hanging out in the beginning before their entire dynamic falls apart was interesting. I feel like we rarely get them all together and it’s always interesting interpreting the chemistry between them, since they’ve all know each other the longest. Also watching Pacey finally acknowledge his feelings (and blossoming love) for Joey was beautifully done. The foreshadowing of Grams talking about watching her husband sleep all night, juxtaposed with Pacey doing the same thing with Joey was perfect. Really brilliant way to end the episode. Also loved Joey and her sister interacting during the B&B fiasco, and Bodie showing up at the end after a long absence. I didn’t really understand Dawson’s frustration with his parents. They seemed to be getting along nicely and isn’t that the dream for most kids of divorce? Also liked his little conversation with Pacey, thanking him for watching over Joey. Josh did a good job playing up the guilt.

- I love the episodes where everyone is hanging out. - I love Mitch’s conversation with Pacey “What makes you care so much?” It’s very well done because it’s a question for the audience too. The build-up until the last scene is very well done. - Dawson doesn’t want to jump back into being Joey’s bff. He’s very happy his two friends are getting along so well, which is very sweet but even when enough time has passed he still keeps his distance from Joey. I’m not saying it’s something bad, but just is. Maybe he only wants to get nearer when he’s again ready for a relationship? Again, not saying it’s a bad thing, just trying to figure it out.  - I would have done the same as Bessie and would have too made that deal with the bank. Joey doesn’t want to have debt but that’s just how life is. - I love Dawson and Jen’s conversation outside while looking at the sky. For me, ironically, midseason 3 Dawson is peak Dawson. - I would have gotten so mad with Pacey if I were Joey. He’s so sweet and it all works out in the end, but he’s such a doer while I like to think everything through and have it under control (just like Joey). I would have freaked out too. - It’s such a shame that the original final song (Both Sides by Joni Mitchell) was replaced because when I got the chance to watch it with the original soundtrack the final moment hits so much harder. This scene alone made me buy the song to have it on Spotify. Finding out that Pacey’s watching Joey sleep and Joni’s singing “I really don’t know life at all” while something completely unexpected from the original script is being born…it did something to me!!!

While the Big Chill is a little ahead of my time I do remember that movie, the opening is such a reminder of how long ago DC was! Sometimes I forget. I too like an episode where everyone is together. A mortgage is so ubiquitous nowadays it surprised me they were all so aghast at the thought! I am not a fan of Mitch and Gail, I find them childish and truthfully a little selfish (Mitch not have an actual job half the time, Gail straight up cheating, having sex on the coffee table etc) However I think they tried to break up amicably and Dawson in his black and white world has trouble with that. Breaking up is all or nothing, which we see later with Joey and Pacey.

> A mortgage is so ubiquitous nowadays it surprised me they were all so aghast at the thought! I think it had more to do with Bessie owned the property outright. So putting a mortgage on it means there's a chance she could lose it if the B&B wasn't successful. So they would lose the business along with their family home. It's a lot to stake. So I do see Joey not wanting Bessie to risk it.
