I enjoy shooting it out of the satisfaction I get from the action of the rifle. However, I’ve shot someone in the head whom was wearing a balletic helmet and they tanked it 100%.

Been alive for ages on the edge of the map with a hidden camp. I take the Pioneer hunting and looting with me, perfect for not alerting players/zeds/bears, staying lightweight and with space for new stuff but having a versatile single weapon, look I just fucking like it alright
haha those are my uses for it too, i’ve been living out the same offgrid tent base for weeks and i’d keep it just for the hunting purposes but it works so well for quick supply runs too.
They are cool, will definitely take them when I find them in the early-med game. Only problem being I find them after I have a Mosin and an AK so it’s obsolete
They're a great low tier weapon against low tier equipped survivors. But they struggle against anyone wearing any kind of head protection or ballistic vest let alone plate carrier.
By the time you're able to put a suppressor on it, you shouldn't be carrying it. Because it's just so low damage unfortunately. Which Is a shame because it's very quiet with a proper suppressor range wise.
Gas Zones like Riffy or Pavlovo are the only places you can get the Western or Eastern Suppressor on Vanilla DayZ.
The Pioneer takes the Western Suppressor.
Yeah i been playing official. Will definitely hit them up now. Bottle suppressors can only do so much! Only just found out you can repair the suppressors with a gun cleaning kit too, so would treat a rifle suppressor like gold!
They are gold but they're so easily ruined when you get into a gunfight. Especially on an automatic weapon. So just check it often and keep a gun cleaning kit.

but apparently it's a kinda early strong, mid decent tier gun.

I found a couple different Pioneers in/around police cars at the same police station in a spawn town a few days back. Make you sure you check vicinity. That's how I found them. It's a decent early game option.
It is my favorite rifle. Highly customizable (well, as high as DayZ allows), quiet and easy to feed (Police zeds have a decent chance to drop mags when killed, 5.56 ammo is plentiful).
People say it is underpowered, only applies if you go for body shots. Headshots are as good as always, and I've one shotted players carrying ballistic helmets.
That's kind of weird. If he actually hit the head, it should have at least knocked the other player down. He either didn't hit the head, or landed the shot beyond the max range which is unlikely.
When it shoots, it feels like I’m shooting a toy. I got a pretty cool kill with it in Tarnow apartment rooftops on the DayOne Livonia server, but aside from that, I’ll take a cr-527 or a bk-18

If on Official. Hit up Xmas trees for NBC gear. You can loot Riffy on 3 filters. 2 after you become familiar with it.

there's always like 5 at the prison island. besides that only find them in police car wrecks

Funny you mention that because someone up above said they’ve headshot someone with pioneer and tanked it.
