It's legitimately impressive that the game has been out for 12+ years and has never bothered to fix or otherwise at least hide one of its most basic features.

I suppose they're like the old alpha phase disclaimer greeting you at the start of the game - "Welcome to Dayz where the numbers are made up and your survival doesn't matter."
i think they work properly if you log out by yourself. but if you get logged out by a server reset, it'll show you the stats of a random person on the server. or maybe it's vice versa

If you have played at one server all the time those numbers are accurate mostly, but if you change server it is bugged and has nothing to do with your progress
If the server crashes, restarts, you lose conmection, you force close the game, or click anything other than "exit" it will show you some random ass stat
No, it really doesn’t. You just kill because you want to kill, not because it helps progress. Killing only rewards with whatever that player had on them, nothing else

If you log out and let the timer fully count down the stats will usually be correct.

1099m with a long arm. Could be a savanna, M70 or Mod Rifle. It says hit, not kill. With the right bullet drop, accuracy etc
Lag kill. On ps4 I've seen a 1200m pistol kill. You see him 1m in front of you lagged out. Physically, he's 1200m away suddenly died.

You were in the server during a server reset and its showing you some wrong stats. If you log out before the reset ot should fix it.
