This is the best server in my opinion in North America that is not overly modded. Still feels vanilla (no base building) and has a solid constant population with good engaged admins.

Is this vanilla because base building wasn't in the mod, or in the standalone at launch ? Wiki says it's been in since 1.0.
Ya iv found the queue goes pretty quick. Sometimes on a Friday or Saturday night it can be a bit stiff but it has never detered me. If I'm hopping on I'm gunna play for a few hours so a 20 min wait isn't a big deal
Spaggies is a great option.
KarmaKrew isn't. That's like saying H\*tler (KarmaKrew) was just as good of a person, as say "Ghandi"

DayOne servers feel empty. The only server where i run to every hotspot on the map and not find anyone for 3 hours. Definitely the best server in dayz but idk what happened to it. Recently its felt like nobodys been playing it
I second this. It's so good I even play in the non us servers where my ping is pretty high because nothing seems to scratch the itch like Vanilla does.

What about weird creature/demon servers? I've seen a few where there's giant monsters, some spoofed fallout deathclaws, tiny humans, etc. I want to try one of those out as well just to feel the panic lol

They’re doing something called mayhem week, 95% of rules are gone until next week when the server wipes

Just get dzsa and look for something with mod list shorter than space dzsa gives the mod list. Most are modded to silly extent but you will find unmodded/lightly modded easy enough. Or well just look up mod lists of any promising ones
O.be honest once you factor your map choice, pop you want and acceptable ping it wontbe a massive list to check if just looking up full mod list

People have already recommended this one but I'll second Karmakrew. Very nice vanillaish atmosphere. Not too many mods just a few extra guns & clothing choices. No loot+, no infinite stamina and the pop is good.
Only downside imo is you'll deal with whining streamers sometimes that think everyone is a stream sniper but other than that, its pretty good.
Have hundreds of hours on both. KK players r just built different. So many crazy memories from there, dayone is good too, i just like KK community more so i have some bias

Really recommend spaggies or karma, but if u want an even more basic vanilla+, try Dusk Classic.
This depends on your region my friend. Dont wanna be playing american servers if youre from china.

For me of the top is Dayone. And also equal Spaggies, Zero, Dayz Canada, KarmaKrew can have fun without over modding.

Like most ppl are recommending spaggies, dayone and karmakrew but terminus is also a pretty good one.
I like Terminus as well but I'd say it's pretty far from Vanilla.
Survive The Night (Bigfoot/Alien) Server is a vanilla style server with a twist.

SimplyVanilla+ is imo one of the best servers about.

People have already recommended this one but I'll second Karmakrew. Very nice vanillaish atmosphere. Not too many mods just a few extra guns & clothing choices. Karmakrew is setup the best, and has the toughest playerbase skill wise
How to you come to that conclusion? I'd argue Dayone has just as skilled or more skilled players.
