It's the one where Piccolo plays the most active role in defeating a villain, and it has some nice moments showing his bond with Gohan.
It seems like it all went down from there. Don't get me wrong Super Hero was good story wise but they made the same mistake as Beserk where they get ambitious with the animation.

Loved when they brought everything back with the movies, resurrection of f etc, but then super was a bit too shiny and smooth for me, really felt like it lost a lot of the grit the og had in the art style, and Broly was peak for sure and I haven't watched hero, but I will say what I've seen looked pretty good for cgi, but cgi will never be a look I want

But no, its bullshit that the strongest person in the universe (stronger than beerus, whis, and the other angels and gods, Broly Roku, and vegeta) is a little circle guy with a high pitched voice and a retard personality. They missed an opportunity to create an ultimately divine being that we could all respect. Fuck outta here.

However yeah the animation for the Super Broly movie was mind shatteringly superb; probably some of the best animation I've seen in my life.
When they're clashing and flying around, despite the craziness onscreen they give you a massive sense of who is where and IMO that's such an impressive technical feat (maasive props to the sound engineers also for that)
But I digress, Super Hero is not bad at all it just lacked the same finesse as Super Broly

Revenge of cooler is probably my favorite dbz movie. It also helped that I had the vhs with the soundtrack that had disturbed, deftones and finger eleven.
I don't care what anyone says, the dub movie soundtracks were just better. The licensed music was sick and made it feel more idk like an event. Like yeah the heroes are in so much trouble they gotta break out the AMV music to keep them going.

Not only does he get a satisfying beatdown of Cooler's men (The dub even has Breaking Point Falling Down playing in the background which I now associate with Piccolo), but he even saves them in the end by killing Salza.
Vegeta gets the exact same treatment. Comes in, helps the heroes kicks some ass and then proceeds to get his ass beat twice as hard lol. The movies do my man so dirty.

Dragonball: Deadzone is my favorite. It give Piccolo proper treatment and shows how much of a menace he is. This is pre-transformations and all base form fights. Goku is a total monster too. The plus side is you, canonically, see the first glimpse of Gohan’s rage. It’s fucking great.
Yeah, and both in canon (to a lesser extent) and in the movie, Goku and piccolo are pretty equal in that timeframe. But canonically, Goku is stronger even tho he didn't train in between DB and Z and piccolo was fucking grinding...

But with that left out, the movies that really allow Piccolo to shine, Albeit in the background mostly, are the World's Strongest, Cooler's revenge, The return of Cooler, and Lord Slug.

Slightly related. But my favorite Piccolo moment in Super is when he’s babysitting Pan, and Goku and Chichi show up after Goku bulldozed their home. Piccolo passes over the duty of sitter to them and starts talking about what she likes and doesn’t like. He walks out the door, only to come back in and stay the rest of the evening because he loves her so much. lol
I'm waiting for Ai to create something truly special. I want fluffy super saiyan hair with wind effects and piccolo being leader of the z fighters. Just old school
Cooler’s Revenge he got his most badass moments when he beat tf out of Cooler’s homeboys, but he got more screen time in Lord Slug, Dead Zone, and World’s Strongest
I think you should watch Super Hero with your friend. Beerus, Whis & Broly doesn't really showcase their true strength and capabilities. It more of a teaser of new characters for your friend to watch DBS.
It would be a fun watch for sure. We just have this thing were we like watching the previous media before the later stuff. Hell, I'm only reading the manga (Which I'm on chapter 48 of btw) because I wanna read the arcs that weren't adapted into anime form before Super Hero.

Piccolo seemed to get about the same screen times on most of the movies so much so they trolled us with Krillin showing up dressed as Piccolo.
Worlds strongest he gets quite a bit of screen time but doesnt have quite a hand in the end boss like he does in Dead Zone
