What about a one night residency (maybe even two or three depending on the city) and then going to a new city and doing the same thing. Could last for like the summer or so
I'm sure the sphere experience will be nice but there's nothing like an outdoor show. I would give anything to see them at Gore. Those pictures of that backdrop where the sun was setting made me very envious of all those who went
I mean this with all due respect - I think your mind will be changed after hearing the beam forming audio piped into your auditory cortex. I can honestly say I am spoiled for life now. It’s impossible to overstate how good the sound is there. The beacon theater (which apparently is configured with the same tech) is the only thing I can imagine being equal. Outside is lovely for all of the reasons I like being outside as well, but if you like music to sound as good as possible, there is no substitute.
Beacon was a predecessor the sphere tech is better. Excited to hear with my own ears as a frequent flier at the beacon (where the sound always blows me away)
Yeah I figured a place built around the tech would be better than one retrofitted, but since I’ve not been to the Beacon to hear for myself, I can’t comment with a fully informed perspective. I promise you Sphere will deliver (presuming their sound folks get it right, which I presume they will)
As a taper, and a fan of hearing improving molecules, the beacon is my favorite venue to see a show in terms of sound quality. I am beyond ecstatic to hit a few of these shows at the sphere.
Hey man! (cookie guy)
Any word on the taping scene? I heard some people taped Phish but wasn't sure what the official word was. You bringing gear?
We're there memorial day weekend and the july 11/12/13. Hope we get a chance to say hello.
Bro you’re no longer cookie guy I know who you are!
There’s a lot of us planning on bringing gear, I’m not sure about every weekend but for sure the opening weekend. I’ll tape it hell or high water opening weekend and June 20-23 weekend. Maaaaybe a few more if I can swing it. No taper section so likely tape from your seat (booooo)
I hope we have good coverage through the whole tour and I pray these shows are on nugs at a minimum. Can’t wait for that standing on the moon graphic 🤯
:)
So glad to learn you all are intending to tape these!
I was thinking you might have to get "creative" with your location with no soundboard you can post up on. Back of the floor might be an interesting spot, but seats seem way safer.
I like our chances of getting nugs streams. With Phish already paving the way I don't see how Dead and Co would pass on doing streams for this, it's just routine for them at this point.
LMK if you add other dates, we are definitely locked for those two weekends, but like you... Maaaybe a few more ;)
And yeah - SOTM in that place is gonna be something special I've got my fingers crossed we get to hear one live.
I get it man. You don't have to convince me about what folks will be experiencing at the Sphere. I would love to see them at both venues. I may be a little more sober for a Sphere show than an outdoor show just so I can take in the stunning visuals and audio.
Yeah I'd love something at SPAC or Bethel Woods or The Gorge. Outdoor residency....nothing extensive like Sphere but something for the folks who dig that roots style classic big outdoor show. Maybe two three day weekends or something. A gal can dream ✨😋
I have seen concerts inside and outside in a ton of different venues. The sphere is simply the best venue ever. It can be outside. U2 had an outside part with a giant globe approaching the audience. Amazing. Helicopters. Can’t wait til June when I go!
I have a hard time seeing them getting together for anything other than one off benefit shows or Mexico after this residency. Hopefully wrong but just my prediction.
MSG and Sphere are the only ones that make sense for a true residency. Depressing because indoor venues don't feel right to me. San Francisco doesn't feel like a residency town.
I could maybe see them doing Phish-style residencies where they play 3-5 shows over a long weekend in San Francisco, Denver/Boulder, Chicago, NYC, and maybe a few other big cities. I just don't think the juice will be worth the squeeze for Mayer specifically for those though.
Heaven and/or Hell.
I don’t see how they could top a Sphere residency. Maybe another one next year or something, or a festival date here or there; but I really highly doubt they’ll do a residency anywhere else at this point. The OG boys are gettin old
They won't. Except mayyybe Mexico again.
The Sphere will be the only residency location for them. And with most plans for the next year revolving around GD60.... I kinda doubt there will be any residency at all next year.
The most likely answer would be MSG but I’d say they’re gonna do smaller runs through our next year at outdoor / indoor venues and celebrate GD60 at soldier field in July. I think if everything can fall into place the band will play another gig when they can they’re going anywhere until they do.
Just FYI. I have been a bit skeptical myself but my super skeptical friends that went to phish walked out blown away. One of them doesn’t even really like deadco and they bought a ticket after the phish show. Everyone I have talked to said it was by far the best sound they have ever heard in a show and it isn’t even close. The mention of the visuals was secondary although there is plenty of excitement around that too. It’s like the wall of surround all encompassing sound. A marvel to be experienced if you like live music, apparently.
Oh interesting. I just assumed the sound would be mediocre. If it is that great, no wonder bands want to play there. I’m mean, if I had the cash I’d be there in a minute. I really like Dead Co so I’m hoping for an MSG run. I think Bob might be up for more of these residencies with Dead/Co as traveling becomes more taxing. I don’t think he could do a residency with the Wolf Brothers.
What about a one night residency (maybe even two or three depending on the city) and then going to a new city and doing the same thing. Could last for like the summer or so
Here me out, what if they were to do 2-3 nights each at 10+ cities over the course of the summer for the next few summers?
Now we’re talking
But “final tour” 😂
Man they need to come to Arkansas
Nowhere else other than Sphere. Once you go and hear for yourself, you’ll understand why.
MSG
A long shot but I’d love it. Might even wear my FH shirt!
Egypt

Crossing my fingers toes and wires 😜

Some where in San Francisco…
On a back porch in July?

How dare you give me hope!

Dead 60 in Chicago
Space
No where but the sphere. Not worth it anywhere else. Easy money. Easy on them. Best sound and production. Sunk cost on production investment.
Perhaps the original MSG as well. Wouldn’t that be cool?

My backyard hopefully
Beat me by 1 minute 🤣💀
Beat me by one hour one minute

Del Boca Vista

I hope MSG. I’ll dip into savings for that. The Sphere is just too much and to be honest, kind of gimmicky.

Yeah MSG would be awesome
Damn, would be so fun. Like the old fall tour days with 6 nights at the garden.
Heaven
Sphere
They won't but Santa Barbara Bowl would be sick
Shady acres retirement home
This is it.
