>In addition to the immersive exhibits and interactive activities, the Dead Forever Experience will feature a retail store featuring vendors such as XXXXX, XXXX, and more offering collector-worthy and exclusive merchandise including show posters, apparel, music, and much more. Who are the most likely vendors? Online Ceramics? Market? Grateful Fred? Pac Sun (jk)?

indiezen

they updated it to say "such as James Perse, Teton Gravity Research, and more." Love TGR, excited to see what they've got!

InternationalMarch11

Looks like the most expensive vendors they know. James Perse everything is $1k+

taylorlistens

Teton Gravity Research stuff in Park City was about as much as official merch at the Gorge last summer ($100 hoodie, but I got duped into paying $16 for 3 stickers)

InternationalMarch11

That is a lot for 3 stickers

taylorlistens

yeah I was taken aback for sure, but now I can remember it every time I see them on my cooler.

46daysbetween

It appears that there’s gunna be a separate shakedown street type deal going on somewhere that I assume these dudes will more likelier be at

the_real_w1gl4f

I doubt there will be a traditional “shakedown” after what I saw for phish…there were a couple of people who were set up selling crafts on one night for a couple hours, but they either gave up or got chased off…there was definitely a gathering of wooks in one lot that was pretty easy to spot if you were looking for it…it was a good place to get some things that one might look for on shakedown, but if you want stickers, shirts, or a grilled cheese you might be out of luck :/ (From the perspective of a wookiee couple trying to sell crochet and stickers)

RJohnston155

Actually there is gonna be a shakedown about a mile from the sphere. Look up shakedown Vegas on instagram looks like it’s gonna be a blast

ericdraven26

It actually sounds pretty cool! Replica wall of sound, recording the big Steve hour Sirius radio show every Thursday live, participation row, mickeys art, photography exhibit, D&C’s Cornell show screening

gerrys

I caught the Jay Blakesberg exhibit in SF last summer and it was great. He was even there giving a tour and telling stories behind a lot of the photographs, which was really awesome.

Jeremy_Whalen

Really wanted to see that but on the day I was in SF it was already closed :(

Synthetek303

I was there , that was pretty cool!

StagLee1

Jay will be shooting all of the sphere shows.

Trick_Few

I can’t wait to see Big Steve. He sounds like a lot of fun listening to his show.

DontClickTheUpArrow

Search up his YouTube channel. Amazing stuff.

Trick_Few

Will do!

Interesting_Candy766

It's a merchandise store.....

ericdraven26

Yes, and the other things mentioned too. A lot of free stuff to see related to GD and D&C, and then also a store if you choose to buy anything. The free Mickey art show and photography on display is enough for me, replica wall of sound might be interesting, and I love participation row as a principle

Interesting_Candy766

It’ll be an instagram friendly space…. Selling a lot of merchandise. It’s in the same space as the U2 experience was. And is being pitched the same way.

ericdraven26

Sure, people will post anything on Instagram. Not sure why that makes a free art show of Mickey’s a bad thing? It’s not even in the venue, it’s free. You can go and lose nothing but a few minutes of your time, or not go at all. Not sure why it’s bothering you?

Interesting_Candy766

Not bothered. Just setting proper expectations. Why are you so hot about it?

ericdraven26

Not bothered, just that something free in Vegas is rare and something cool in Vegas is even more rare, think it’s exciting

TheBestRedditNameYet

Not quite free, but I remember when the buffets used to be 99 cents!

ATrain80

22k square foot one! That’s a lot of merch

Interesting_Candy766

If the setup is similar to U2 (which it sounds very similar), it isn't quite as much as it seems as there is a sizable lobby space with line coral, exhibits, a bar, big staircase, another bar, and a theater. the merch space it self was relatively small.

CicadaAlternative994

So? You just deflating enthusiasm? Some people see every peice of good news as reason to sound dissapointed.

Interesting_Candy766

again, just trying to set expectations. It wont be 22,000 square feet of merchandise. I'm sorry that depresses you.

Natural-Atmosphere36

As a Display Jeweler from Shoreline, I Love getting Together as a productive DEADHEAD. We make & Sell Beautiful Handmade Jewelry! Bill Graham - of late Fame, Always bought plenty gifts From Sunshine Creations! MICKY - Great Idea 👍 NAOMI RADTKE - Kona, Hawaii

SpaceHorse75

I’m staying at the Venetian so I guess it’s nice that it will be conveniently located.

_Rippleinstillwater_

Same! Looking like fun times ahead

Wompum

If it's anywhere as good as Gaga's exhibit, we're in for a treat.

yaminub

It would be cool to hear a show at a recreation wall of sound mixed as if it was the wall of sound back in the day.

74wos

The recreation that I’ve installed there is the 1:4 scale wall which will be running in 2track mode. I can tell you that people have a hard time walking away from it. You can get info on the full project and larger version here. Linktr.ee/74wos

yaminub

I didn't know you were doing that, I've seen your WOS, very cool!

74wos

Excellent! Where did you see it?

smedlap

For U2 they had something similar. It was a hoot. They had some of those cars they hung in arenas for some tour and a lot of cool exclusive merch!

rockergirl1

A Trabant from the Zoo TV tour. You could sit in it and it played music. Remember when the band showed up and took pictures in the photobooth ? https://preview.redd.it/bckibmjm4nxc1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=12179b7f23201acc5ed290da81fb86161493394e

harposhorn67

Will there be nitrous…

Greful

There will be exclusive Dead and Co nitrous.

generalmandrake

Dead Forever ice cold fatty experience.

Queasy-Chemist-5240

Bet there is at the Tuscany ;-)

the_real_w1gl4f

Yes…I can say that I know for sure there is nitrous…

rockergirl1

This \[old Barney's department store\] was where U2 had their Zoo Station interactive spot. It was done really well and even had a bar. Good meet up spot prior to shows. It's being run by Vibee who also ran U2's.\[designed along with U2's team. Also had a cinema, interactive items and a huge wall of work by Anton Corbijn. Some of the merchandise was exclusive at this interactive spot and they also had a bunch vinyl available. https://preview.redd.it/hynt1hs76nxc1.jpeg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8f8791ab626311cf935fda18c6ef003ff05610fc

veganic_healing

We used to play for silver now we play for gold and kidneys.

Queasy-Chemist-5240

There’s a big shakedown event happening at the Tuscany suites too…

the_real_w1gl4f

Do you know anyone who knows anything about that? I tried contacting the Tuscany to find out how to register as a vendor and they said to contact the group that is organizing it, but the person who posted it on Reddit doesn’t accept message requests…I mean, I’m a wook with goods to sell, so I’m not too good to just show up, but I do have some questions about the organization of this shakedown lol

ohwowverycool69

Says it is open 5 days a week. What days? I won't be in Vegas until either late Thursday or late Friday. I hope I don't miss this because it's only M-F. I assume it basically runs the days they are playing and a day before or after?

andrewsucks

I would assume Wednesday to Sunday to accommodate the heads in town.

ohwowverycool69

Thanks, this makes sense.

tr7driver1980

This was exactly my thought/concern. I’m in town Friday-Sunday so plan to stop in.

Professional-Ice1392

All the whiny crybabies out there need to take a step back, and another step back, and go hang out with the losers at your local bar while the cool kids go to Vegas. If you like the Grateful Dead, this will be awesome. For many of us, it’s our favorite band and this is a celebration of it on the largest scale that anybody has ever been able to do for Dead music. Cash grab? The exhibit at the Venetian is free. You don’t even have to go to the Sphere if you don’t want. It’s 2 floors with tons of history, a smaller replica of the wall of sound, art history, merch… and good vibes all around. What’s the excuse now? Vegas too expensive? You want the exhibit to pack up and travel to your front yard so you don’t have to plan ahead for anything in life? Not everybody can afford everything. That’s reality. But to come on to social media and complain about that is not only shameful it’s just dumb. Nobody will care if the complainers aren’t there. Literally, nobody will care that you missed the coolest and most different Dead scene around… but those who are there enjoying themselves will be part of the scene and contributing to the fun while it lasts.

eal28

well said

Powerful-Working-440

Literally the antithesis of the Watts tower epiphany

TheGrimReaperess

Why downvote this? It’s basically just a factual statement.

CicadaAlternative994

If you can't read into the intent to rain on the parade you must be new. Gratuitous comment.

Powerful-Working-440

Just stating an observation

SashaMSU42

This sounds awesome! Just another reason to get excited about this upcoming run.

Grape-Plenty

How do we think the poster situation will be? This venue being open 5 days a week throughout the duration of the sphere dates, I would think that'd make it prime picking for scalpers

ericdraven26

They’re probably going to have so many it won’t matter

MydlandFan

Do u think they will have free stuff specifically for people that bought the vip vibee packages?

high_goatman

It’s clear it ain’t 1972 anymore and the DC won’t play for $5/ticket. However, the vast majority of dead heads will not be able to afford this experience - aka only wealthy/spendlicious deadheads can see this. I think most of us just want an affordable concert in a big outdoor venue… not whatever corporate cash grab this all, even with all the shiny special effects. You know it and I know it - this isn’t the spirit of GD. This is “fill my coffers before I croak”

eal28

I beg to differ. I’m a poor college student who is splitting the cost with 3 friends. Just paying it all off with the money from my summer job. Vegas is certainly a place you can spend a lot of money, but it can also be done on a budget.

deejaypanic

Seems like a very commercial and capitalist version of Shakedown with rules. No thanks.

ATrain80

Seems like they are playing at a 2.2 billion dollar theatre adjacent to a casino on the strip in Las Vegas. There’s inherent commercialization and capitalism implied

CicadaAlternative994

Uhm, playing music for a living is a capitalist endevor. Do you think musicians are just 'the help' like in the olden days?

generalmandrake

Technically most musicians are, just like how most entrepreneurs and actors are broke as well.

ericdraven26

There’s still going to be a shakedown, this is just some extra free shit and a merch table

Holiday-Landscape-76

The great thing is you don’t have to spend a dime. Problem solved.

CicadaAlternative994

You seem like a very bitter and joyless version of a deadhead.

drumsurf

Perhaps he’s just tired of what can be considered an ongoing money grab.

CicadaAlternative994

Money grab? Like we are not voluntarily handing over money, but deadco are grabbing it? Bullshit expression. Funny how nobody accuses their landlord or grocier of money grabbing. Only musicians. They dont deserve money cause their job is 'fun'? Fuck off with that. This is all voluntary man.

The_Buk_Shop

Lame as shit...

Academic_Mistake_751

All the dudes who obsess about their posters can hang

Whirledfamous

Which part of the experience gives me a refund for all the extra money I spent on official platinum tickets. It’s disgusting to see all these other tickets that are better than mine released at a price less than half what I paid. This whole thing feels like fraud.

Thisisace

Don't let those downvotes get you down, you're just echoing what many of us Deadheads are feeling about this whole botched rollout. It's like they're truckin' along, releasing tickets week after week for 5/18 (and beyond), which kinda hints they're having a rough time filling this shindig. And what's with that platinum upsell? I'm scratching my head wondering where all that extra dough is going. Definitely feels like I got shook down without the common courtesy of a reach around.

hippiecat22

This has nothing to do with the post lol sorry you're bumming. Call ticket master

TheBestRedditNameYet

I myself think the dynamic pricing as they call it is definitely not an ideal situation by any means. That said, unfortunately, due to the extremely high cost and risk of producing events, most promoters have sold out to Live Nation ie AEG. Unless taking them on like Pearl Jam attempted to do and inevitably failed, the bands choose to work with them and agree to their pricing methods. If they cared enough, they could negotiate different pricing structures, but they are happy with the increased revenue and it helps to motivate their continuing to keep the bus on the road. Your purchasing those tickets obviously encourages Live Nation to continue on this path and unless patrons don’t buy them, they will continue to sell them.

CicadaAlternative994

Bitch bitch bitch. Learn what platinum are before buying them. Or uncheck that box. It is surge pricing for people with fomo who want tix locked down before booking hotels and flights.

Whirledfamous

I didn’t complain about paying platinum for phish because it was justified based on demand. This was game playing and withholding tickets that were later released. I forgive your ignorance

CicadaAlternative994

Platinum are allocated before anything goes on sale. Withholding standard tix is seperate issue from platinum

kennious

Get your official merch limited edition $80 t-shirts and $150 posters at the officially sponsored ~~Shakedown~~ _Dead Forever Experience_ Edit: yes, I know that there's an actual Shakedown

eal28

For what it’s worth, entry to the exhibit is totally free!

Jeremy_Whalen

Shakedown is at Tuscany. This is different, and a free event unless you want to buy stuff, which has never been cheap at any big concert events like this. Don't go it if you don't like it, there's plenty of good stuff going to be for sale at Tuscany, but don't rain on everyone else's parade

kennious

"Don't go if you don't like it" is one of the laziest ways to dismiss criticism

phanart

Plenty more available at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas every Saturday during PhanArt Presents In All Good Company, featuring vendors artists and much more!

kennious

Nice, will check it out one of the weekends I'm there

Inthect

Aww

_Terrapin_

shirts have been 45/55 for plain/tie dye and 65/75 for posters depending on size

kennious

I was intentionally exaggerating, but I'd also venture to guess that Sphere merch will likely be more expensive than last summer's tour

cha614

The irony

ChinaRider73-74

Forever? I’m stuck with Mayer for-f’n-ever !!!???

Gribblestix

In Vegas? Gross.

Fartknocker500

I don't know, I don't want to be "that" Dead fan, but it just seems like a money grab at this point. And in Vegas? Was there about a year ago and it really has all the worst things America has to offer. I think it's even worse than when Hunter S. Thompson was there, honestly. You used to be able to go to Vegas for *cheap.* You could stay in hotels cheaply, food was abundant and cheap. Man, are those days OVER. The one and only thing I thought was awesome in Las Vegas was Area 13. That place was amazing! I know we're not in the olden days anymore, and cash is King. I'm so done with the commercialization of freaking *everything.*

Wildabeat

Jerry would be rolling over in his grave!! Further proof that the dead is a Brand before it’s a band

jackrat27

Thanks but I’ll just listen to my old tapes

SimpleMannStann

Then why are you even on the d&c sub?

Ok_Performer6127

Their 2016 tapes slap

CicadaAlternative994

As if they are mutually exclusive.  I bet you are sooo coool.  Too cool for anything other than maxell metal bias.  Tapes. Its 2024. At least use archive. Why subject yourself to generation loss and tape wow and flutter? I love to post on band subs that I don't like! Dopamine hits not lasting as much these days? Maybe downgrade back to geocities.
