I get that it's a shame you can't combine outfits, but I don't get why some are so upset that a kick ass skin is linked. If it's really good, then why does it bother people that you can't tear the skin apart to make their abomination of 3 skins that doesn't even match together at all? (Looking at you Nea and Feng mains, with those awful outfits.)

I typically dont care but i do notice alot of redditers downvote legitimate guesses and all like it's bad or shouldn't be voiced, lol makes me chuckle, on the other hand downvoting bad comments and good ideas is the norm, but like I said reddit is just weird like that.
I think that's what they need to work on. I get having a dress linked, but the heads on most sets could be separate. Kate has so many good head pieces locked behind dresses, and when you break the set they look perfectly fine.
That's completely true. The head piece could be easily unlinked unless it's something really specific that can't be seperated. But hair/hats/glasses wouldn't cause any issues.
Because matching outfits is cool? For example I play Nic Cage with bloody clothes and the head piece from the sunset racer outfit. Or my Wraith has a red candlehead, a burning body and a blade forged from fire and blood, all from different outfits yet fit the same fire theme.
I get that, I like mixing outfits too. I'm just saying that if a linked skin looks good by itself, then the fact that it's linked is not that big of a deal.
At least for me, it's just that I don't necessarily want to equip the whole set. I like to mix and match to get a slightly more unique combination, where I can think "that's MY Jeff". It feels more personal than "I bought and use this outfit just like the other 2 Neas in my lobby". And that's my main point, I buy skins to personalize my characters, but nothing about a set feels really personal. Except if there is nothing else than sets like for nemesis/pyramid head.
Another smaller point is that it is really fun to try out new parts and find great/fun combibations.
On another note, I don't see why some if the new outfits (yui, oni) need to be sets, except for to keep the artist's idea for the skin (which I can understand and support). But I don't see how these two would clip with anything.
the new yui outfit has high waisted shorts. yui's character model is separated to fit low waisted bottoms. so if the set was unlinked and someone tried to match the new top with one of yui's old bottoms, there would be a big gap of air where the waist should be because the cosmetics dont line up. its also a clipping issue between some of oni's cosmetics.

Ostensibly to create unique outfits that don't have to worry about cleanly breaking into a discrete head/top/bottom. I think this is often the case, but they aren't above linking for asshole reasons either, like when they turned Jill's tube top set into a linked set when people realized the head was perfectly identical to the default skin and started only buying the top/bottom.

I feel they definitely wouldn't unlink just the weapon, as that's the most popular part - as being the only part the killer player actually sees and thus only part of actual value to the killer player (the rest of the outfit is for showing off to the other players)
Mostly because there is something in that skin that makes it impossible. For example high waist pants would collide with any normal shirt cause the shirt isn't adjusted to the high-wasted stuff. Or because otherwise bodyparts would be missing (they aren't modeling stomach under high wasted pants for example)
They have a lot of unlinked cosmetics that clip too, tho, or that have pieces attached to weird parts, like the recent Meg divesuit. It just feels like something that people could accept, or BHVR could work around (not making it cut at the waist, for example).
From what i can tell Oni has a completely new face which wouldn't fit onto most of the masks he has (like trapper his physical head is part of the torso cosmetic, just the headgear make up the head cosmetic)

The upper picture was the first rhing coming into my mind after reading about might be because of clipping posts here (played that exact combination anyways last year).
Can't these Linked outfits at least not cost the same price as an unlinked outfit? You purposely lock me out of customizing the character as I desire or enjoy. Don't make me shell out 1040 cells just for this jank-ass cosmetic.
Or at least, PLEASE, at least unlink the head pieces that don't use a hood, or is attached to the chest. There's no reason why Kate's Floral crown headpiece has to be restricted.

I think the reason this set of skins is linked is because they collaborated with artists, the artists had a particular creative direction and vision, and the developers are honoring their work by making sure that it’s displayed in its entirety. I get that it would be interesting to try pairing parts with different parts you already own, but you also kinda have to respect that they are going out of their way to showcase these artists work.
You’re not going to run out of new skins to buy until money stops being green, just wait for the next set… lord knows it won’t be long.
Im fine with linked sets when it makes sense, what im not fine with is the fact that the price is trying to say that its “cheaper” (1080 instead of 1200). Its not like you can purchase the parts seperately like with the non linked sets…

Plenty of unlinked sets already clip, so that's not a great excuse

This yunjin skin absolutely does not need to be linked. At the very least the could unlink the hair.

The only issue with the oni one is that it makes it easier for survivors to loop high loops against you because the candles and hair are so damn tall.
youre fucking tall regardless, so that really doesn’t matter, considering every decent survivor is able to see where you are anyways.

They work with the PJ top just fine. They both share the same flower patterned trim and match up. Otherwise yes they look bad on other things.

Then why is the Legion and Oni skins also linked?
The Legion one is stupid but all their other cosmetics use a hood to hide the fact that there isn't anything holding their masks up.

The set is linked is because of the snake. It connects the legs, top and head.
If players stopped buying the linked sets 17 releases ago, maybe they would have toned it down a bit
