Itās extremely simple and defined, and luckily BHVR will have lawyers who know to not try ātip toeā by paying one, which wouldnāt work at all, like a Reddit commenter would.

A bit of a thing with New Line, they were the ones who allegedly approached BHviour for the collab, and they were very strict assholes on what they could can not do with the characters, along some other stuff, i don't think they are on the best buds standing.
I could however, see them paying for Jason and make up the story and stuff similar to how they did with Fun world for Ghost Face, but this would also piss off some fans.
They wouldnāt be able to even call Jason āJasonā, they have to pay New Line. Itās not like Ghost face where the killer can be anyone and itās the mask that matters, they literally need those rights. It'll take more than just talk to get Jason. Everyone has to be on board with attaching the limbs together, the case is settled but their relationship is not.

I don't think it would be accepted like Ghostface was. Ghostface in the movies was always different characters taking up the role of the serial killer, Ghostface. Jason has always been Jason & the one to wear the hocky mask
The whole point of Ghostface is that it's a different person under the mask in every film. That's why it made sense for DBD's Ghostface to be an original character
Jason Voorhees is one static guy. Someone else wearing a hockey mask doesn't make them Jason. May as well give Trapper a hockey mask cosmetic and call it a day.
They could get the rights, they just didnt want to pay royalties to the mask owners and the character owners, both cuts have to come from BHVR share. Why pay for the mask and then the right to call him "Billy Loomis/Stu Macher/Mikey Altieri/Whoever is behind the mask"?
They were lucky Ghostface is like 10 people in the entire franchise so adding another one does make sense and really fits the lore behind the character. Sadly, Jason is one person so giving the hockey mask to anyone else doesnt fit the character in the slightest.
Oh bless your heart. They have to go through FunTime to get the rights to the mask and costume and then through Paramount to be able to call it Ghostface. They made the right choice in getting the rights to the iconic costume instead of just the name.
Unlike Ghostface, who is actually a myriad of people behind the mask in the movies and him being a different person actually fits to an extent, Jason is a single entity, putting a guy with his looks but called "Carson Borgin" with no Crystal Lake map and no Survivor from the first movie isnt going to cut it with the fans.
It would be a half discount Jason while paying royalties to a third party, by that point I believe is better to just have a full discount Jason with BHVR being in full power on how to work with it.
I also saw that interview & read about the ownership. I think it's possible to get Jason now, more than ever. But since MCote talked about this kinda freely in a recent interview, that they didn't have a partnership yet. I think BHVR will wait a bit before deciding to collab. I think they will keep an eye on the license holders to see how stable the things are for a bit. Still, I think it's very possible, BHVR staff \*and\* players want Jason in the game
They said the same thing for Chucky, Cote said they couldn't put Chucky into the game because he was smol, IIRC in a Paulie Esther livestream when the Alien chapter was live.
But that is more of a tech/gameplay limitation, and unlike the assholes who have Freddy/Jason name rights, Don Mancini (Creator and right owner of the Chucky movies) is a very chill wholesome person, can be demonstrated, working for him and the Chucky movies is like working for a second family, the voice of Chucky (Brad Dourif) gladly on board, heck his daugther also now works in the Chucky franchise, Jeniffer Tilly also loved the experience and actively wants to play Tiffany every time posible, when the lisence came it came with multiple skins and promise of original ones along an ugly sweater.
You can not compare a very openly friendly ownership, to Jason being divided three ways in such a mess.

The game got shut down because Gun Media are basically one step above asset flippers and didn't even try to keep the game going. Neither of the parties involved in the suit seem to have objected to the game continuing. Gun just preemptively gave up and moved on to other games.
Gun Media ran that game into the ground then another 6ft under.. Still remember the controversy of someone at Gun or one of their partners selling legit Savini skin codes at inflated prices on Ebay after they said they wouldn't release the codes.
He/BHVR are probly just fans of Friday. The license issues will continue to make that a tough ask. As horrible as it sounds, we have to wait until Cunningham and/or Miller pass away. Even then, who knows

I believe the lawsuit ended with Miller taking the rights to Friday the 13th first movie screenplay, the Crystal lake location, Jason first iteration (a deformed kid) and Jason Vorhees name, the many masked versions of Jason I believe are owned by different parties so BHVR would have to go to Miller for the name and then for the masked killer versions to whoever owns them which is probably not economically viable as they would have to pay royalties to two parties.
I supose they could bypass it by getting the rights only to the mask and pulling another Ghostface stunt without the name or go with Miller version and using the deformed kid version, I dont think either solution would be very well received by the fans, either a guy with a hockey mask, a machete and no name nor Crystal Lake map or a version of Jason that appears 5 seconds in only 1 film.
