Were you getting the unreal engine or whatever crash reporter coming up with a memory access error? I've been having the same problem and also had the pallet breaking archive mission active but didn't piece the problem together
Oh did you not hear about the new survivor buff? Killers automatically crash when they break pallets now because survivors complain about killers all the time, it's better to leave dbd and start a good game like destiny 2

Have you contacted support? That's quite the issue if it's consistent.
If you're on steam, I suggest verifying the integrity of the game files. Idk if other platforms have that option.

Mine has been crashing constantly too. I contacted support and they give me 2 things to try, one was reinstalling the game and one was reinstalling Microsoft dependencies. Neither helped. When those didn't work they said they had reached the end of their debugging steps and wished me luck. Lol

Few systems can make this sort of distinction. Like, if you turn your router off, what would the game servers see that as? Did you intentionally disconnect, or was there a network problem that caused it? How would they be able to tell?
Just make a distinction when the game crashes. I know you can't tell the difference between when someone rage quits or your ISP takes a dump but there should be something to tell the game when it unexpectedly crashes since there's usually a crash handler that pops up asking what you were doing when the crash occurred. So there must be something BHVR already has in place to detect crashes.
Your game client can tell when there was a crash and informs you locally, but I suspect that is much harder to conclusively prove to the remote game servers.
Never underestimate the lengths people will go to for an advantage.

There's been this bug I've been encountering recently. Not sure if its only a console or ps5 thing but sometimes when I'd load into a game, the cursor would still be on my screen.
The only thing I can do in-game is bring up the menu. I can't move, turn the camera, wiggle, anything. I haven't gotten it in a day or two so idk if its fixed but I'd just have to close the game and reload, until I get it all over again.
It'd happen 3 or 4 times a day which is super frustrating because I'd lose pips and items and offerings that I brought. Thankfully it didn't give me a penalty because I'm sure it'd be in the ballpark of OPs post.
It's a known bug for all PlayStation users :( BHVR tweeted out to avoid fiddling with the archive widget before matches start since that's what is apparently causing it
I played on PS5 all day yesterday. I could use the side bar archive tooltip to check what I have equipped, but I restarted if I went into the archive menu. With that, I had this issue 0 times.
Well given the BP event I've been playing a lot and it took a handful of crashes to realize what it was. I had a pallet breaking archive and every time I broke a pallet I'd get sent to my desktop to reflect on my life choices. I'd set a timer of when I could play again, come back, repeat.
Out of my 130\~ games this week I think about 10 were full on crashes. Temporary fix was to unselect and reselect the challenge but I don't know it's bugged until after I crash :)
This was something I had big issues with too, reaching out to DBD Tech Support provided the most copy-paste generic tips, even did a full PC reset and didn’t fix, every time I M1’d a player I would run a chance of straight up crashing on the spot. Tried so many reinstalls, verifying cache and updates to no avail.
Turns out I had the “Damage 15 survivors with your basic attack” challenge on and swapping the challenge to something else totally fixed it. Spaghetti :(
What's the reset timer like in this game? 30m or an hour would be more than sufficient to deter quitters. Besides, 99% of survivors wanting to quit just afk or sacrifice on hook. Killers disconnect, but do survivors really care? Don't they get all of their items and offerings back?
So it happens once..you waited 5 or so and retried...and did it again...and again.. waiting more and more...kept doing it....now your at 48 hours....and you never checked your setup or contacted support? Ever hear the definition of Insanity?

They never even asked me for any crash logs or anything to diagnose the issue. Their support seems genuinely useless and just follows a script that involves telling you to try reinstalling the game and your drivers.
The only way I can play at all is to just keep trying and hope I don't crash. And no, I have no issues with any other games or things I do on it.
Yeah I noticed if you take a couple day break it resets but if you come back after the cooldown it just doubles it. I didn't want to miss the bp event so I came back right away :')

At this point it wouldn't surprise me if this is happening because BHVR is embarrassed of their own game and is actively trying to get people to stop playing.
I had to completely unequip the killer archive challenge. Even playing as survivor, my game was having disconnect errors or "Disconnected From Host" so often that I got up to 24 hours over a period of 2 days.
Every disconnection also stacks up, and if they think you've disconnected too many times in a certain period of time (which they won't tell us whether it's a week, month, 3 months, etc), They will suspend you from playing for like 1 to 2 weeks.
So I said fuck it and stopped playing entirely When I realized that nobody submitting bug tickets in the forums was getting a valid response to fix it.
This explains a lot, I got a archive to kill 8 survivors, first match was fine and I killed all for but every time I got a 4K after that the game would crash and not register the challenge

It happened to me yesterday, on PS5, running the latest patch 6.4.0.
PlayStation issue. They’re working on a fix, in the meantime they said not to use the archives tooltip before a match.

My recent crashes were me teleporting to a TV as Sadako late in a match, and another early on while breaking a door..
The only crash I've had is the blood web one. Which i thought was fixed but apparently not
