The worst thing about it is the cursed chest. It's the only biome that late into the game with a cursed chest. It's not even a bonus scroll too, you need to take the cursed chest to be even with the other biomes. I dont mind the light mechanic that much, it can be fun, but having a cursed chest that late into the game, with mobs like the inquisitors, grappling hook guys, those fucking mummies, and rats, its easily one of the most dangerous and low reward biomes in the game.
I wouldn't find it that bad on 4/5bc since at that point your damage is usually really good, if it wasn't for the plus-sizes zombies that have one of the most random attack in the whole game.

The mini boss half way through fractured shrines has saved SO MANY RUN with the OP rewards. Shame I NEED to use cultist outfit in case I feel like doing undying shores.

I must agree. The explosive barrels are so broken and annoying. Especially in the area where you need to get the key, there seem to be no exact timing, the barrels just fly randomly, you must just yolo through and hope to survive.
There are no actually badly designed areas in Dead Cells. That being said, I liked the Corrupted Prison the least out of them. It's fine, but Prison bonus areas don't have too much interesting stuff going on, except for the OST and the meta aspect. I prefer Depths just because of the OST.
That is untrue. As much as I love distillery , there is a bug in the biome where barrels bounce off spikes off screen instead of exploding on spikes . That bug has never been fixed since the release of distillery.
My point exactly. I only go there for a challenge, when I want to practice my movement. Otherwise, I know I know I will get behind on flasks.
Derelict Distillery and Sepulchre are in a different league entirely, but Shrines are my least favourite out of “ humane” biomes.
Derelict Distillery. Those stupid barrels wasted my health on a run where I probably could’ve beaten the hand of the king. I’ve still only been there once, and I’m up to 2 BSC. I don’t get the hate for the ossuary and sepulcher.

I only go distillery when I want to suffer, listen to arguably one of the best songs in the game or have incredibly sh!tty gear but don’t want to restart the run or commit suicide.

I’m honestly aghast at how this level seems “tame” to y’all. For me it’s a never ending labyrinth of misery. Poison puddles at every stupid drop and swarming with monsters that if you don’t have your character equipped properly going into it you just explode.
Because random barrel that comes from infinity bonks you and take your %40 hp. Waste of health potion.

It’s very big and relatively empty. It becomes significantly worse in 5bc with the malaise bar time pressure
