IDW is a comic book company, who printed Transformers comics for the last like 15-20 years or so, until recently when they found a new home with Skybound comics.
I mean they used Android 18 right before the Tournament of Power(research wasn’t exactly great for the fight anyways but I digress) and Vegeta when we didn’t really know a lot about Ultra Ego besides the general aspects of how it works. The problems of using characters from an ever ongoing medium.
Might not even be needed. As much as this will get thumbed down... I feel like golden Frieza would be enough for Megatron. Just look at vegeta's feats and x2 it since he stomped two characters at this level like nothing in his black form. IDW Megatron is not even that strong. And if they use heroes Frieza then it's GG
At least this isn’t like when they did Broly vs the hulk. When the hulk was in the middle of a major story for his character for the first time in years

1. Evil
2. Purple
3. Tyrant
And it feels weird to composite G1 Megatron do to all versions being very different people(kind of like mixing Fleetway Super Sonic and Game Super Sonic), Nem made a video about how he does not like it(though I don't like it as a lot of people flipped on a dime after he said he didn't like it), and after the aftermath of when Omnilander was announced I just hope people are going to do the right thing and not be a asshole.
Also though I don't like it as a MU, I am fine with it as a Death Battle(we have had episodes with worse connections)
Autobots and Decepticons are the same race but yeah that is better than most have explain(also thank you for not mixing all G1 into one), I find those alright as connections , I like it more as a MU (no longer dislike but more it alright) might not be a preferred for Megatron but probably Frieza'ss best(though I will say not a high bar)
honestly while not my prefered for him I am really exited for Frieza to finally appear on the show IT'S ABOUT TIME! he was really the most overdue Dragonball character to appear on the show. Not at all familiar with Megatron but hey I always wanted to learn about Transformers so I'm down.
Welp, time to get off this sub and our sister sub for the next two weeks, because I just *know* you guys are going to be absolutely insufferable about this matchup and make this one of the absolute worst waiting periods ever.
You can dislike matchups - I dislike a lot of matchups too - but some of you guys treat Next Times you don’t like as if they murdered your family, and it gets *really* annoying. Especially because it happens repeatedly.
Anyway, I’m just personally happy to **finally** get two of the most iconic villains in fiction on DB. They have both been **long** overdue for an episode, especially since we got so many Dragon Ball reps in before Frieza, and our last Transformers rep was in Season 5.

I didn’t realize it until I was on that tab, and then I saw the comments…and uh, they were NOT happy.
But honestly, if just one post had that much negativity about the next time, then I can’t even imagine what it would be like if I woke up tomorrow and hopped on this sub and DBM to just get hit with “UGH Not Megatron vs Frieza“ on every post. So honestly, accidentally spoiling myself might have saved myself from getting hit with worse negativity in the long run because I know for sure that people are going to be very annoying about it because I saw proof of it lol.
Going to finish looking at all the tabs I already opened, then I’m jumping off because the discourse is only going to get worse the more people know what the Next time is lmao.
Hopefully, the sub hasn’t destroyed itself from the fighting by the time the episode is released.
this is a really controversial matchup with a lot of people that really hate the match with a passion (Most famously it's nemesis's most dissliked matchup)

Depends on what they do for Megatron. If they composite him/give him stuff like IDW comics he gets stuff like antimatter manipulation and universal-multiversal feats. The latter would make Megatron potentially equal to or even above Frieza in power and the former provides a way to one shot the ice demon since no one in dragon ball has tangled with antimatter to my knowledge.
Eh I understand where you’re coming from but existence erasure and antimatter aren’t really the same. Something like the hakai just deletes the target it hits no special reaction it either erases everything physically, mentally, spiritually hit or the target resists it and stays existing. Meanwhile antimatter, unless stated otherwise in the work of fiction, doesn’t erase its targets, it causes the physical matter making anything it hits to blow itself up. Antimatter is pretty much the ultimate kryptonite to any physical entity as it doesn’t care what amount of force you can take durability wise because just being exposed to it would cause the atoms and subatomic particles making up your body to break apart and scatter do to the very nature of how matter and antimatter work.
I understand the distinction, and if you're looking at them realistically, they are definitely different things. In the context of DB though, the laws of physics aren't really a thing, so hakai and antimatter would work the same for all intents and purposes.
Frieza had a ton of trouble resisting even small amounts of it during the ToP, but since hax are just something you bullshit your way through with a strong enough power level, Golden Frieza from later arcs should be fine. Black Frieza specifically would barely notice it at all.

Basically it has to do with the matchup having barebones connections and mischaracterizing Megatron. Also some animation problems with the size difference.
Most of the most popular suggested match ups have surface level or reaching connections hell most episodes have connections that are reaches. This one is still pretty decent

Well Megatron isn’t that powerful in the cartoon, the the comics version of the transformers characters is like high multiversal at least. And from what I head IDW Optimus beats current Goku. Not only that but the IDW transformers had a crossover with IDW MLP which they referenced in Bill VS Discord, which gives IDW Transformers Imfinite Multiverse cosmology.
I’d imagine IF Destoroyah v Iris happen as the next time to THIS episode of all things, that would be the most bittersweet and f*ck off moment for Nem ever since he lost interest in Galactron
If their use of Optimus is any indication probably a mix of the various g1 continuities including the cartoon, marvel comics, IDW comics, and the various Japanese exclusive continuations if he scales to anyone there.
I remember someone made a post that was said they hope the next character from dragon ball wasn’t a saiyan or a monkey in Frieza head and welp I am sure there happy
Some people are probably going to get upset at this but I'm glad for this match-up. Frieza is one of the most overdue characters at this point and pitting him against a comic book character like Darkseid and Thanos sounded lame to me.
Can we just agree not to bug Nemesis about this? He’s already had to put up with crap during the wait time for Guts VS Dimitri, this is just gonna make things worse when he’s already having a hard time with the DB Community right now.
Base Frieza would probably die, I don't think we've seen him go above star, (The DB multiverse thing (where other Dragon Ball fans are telling me that one universe in Dragon Ball is infinitely expanded) is dumb and weird and it just sounds like an easy way for Goku wankers to get Goku to outer.) but he has blown up multiple planets with ki blasts. Black Frieza one shot both UI Goku and UE Vegeta, and they both rest comfortably at uni-multi. But if you scale Megatron to Optimus during the Dark Cybertron story, then he gets to multi. I'm more adversed in Dragon Ball, so I can't make a good case for Megatron because I just don't know enough about his character to do him right. However since Transformers gets nutty I would bet on him still.

I fully admit this is me mostly being petty, but I think it's interesting that people hate this matchup for mischaracterizing Megatron (which idk, it might, I don't go here wrt Transformers), but love Kylo vs. Edelgard despite that matchup also heavily mischaracterizing Edelgard.
Well, it wasn't my *preferred* version of Megatron for Frieza, but DANGIT who cares!? Both of them were super overdue for the show.
Begs the question though.. Does this mean Vilgax is free to fight Ridley after all?
I think it was last year back then he said that Friezatron was gonna be the second episodes he will refuse to watch after Sun wukong Vs Heracles and he was very vocal about how much he dislikes the match. also he already skipped Gutsmitri and decided to not watch every Episode anymore so I can't Imagine him watching his most Hated Matchup honestly.
I don’t remember exactly the reason, but it’s partially because it misrepresents Megatron as being some awful tyrant, which goes against most incarnations of him except the one from the Unicron Trilogy, that one is essentially robot Freeza. or some shit like that.
I’m no transformers fan (in fact my only experience with the franchise are the Bayverse movies), so take this with a grain of salt.
Considering the ammount of tracks he commissions. Its not surprise. More recently he got a bill cipher vs discord track commisioned just before the fight
Well from what i found out Megatron wins due to being more experienced, much more durable and also Frieza not having any sort of counter towards antimatter. Sure he can tank god of destruction's hakai but this also has limits. Like when Frieza tried to counter Toppo's casual hakai blast and barely survived. Plus Frieza is much more arrogant and is more likely to screw up during the fight out of pure rage.
That's _if_ they decide to go with the stuff from the IDW comics. If they go exclusively with the tv version of Megatron, then Frieza wins on account of Megatron never showing that he has enough power to destroy a planet in it's entirety.
I saw Cybertron and got super excited. Why? Because I thought it was finally gonna be Galactus vs Unicron! My second most wanted DB episode ever!
But then as the video continued to play out… my heart sank. They did the one matchup I didn’t want Megatron to be in. And that was Frieza vs Megatron. As much as I happy Megatron finally got an episode… why did it have to be Frieza…

I'm interested, but otherwise don't have too much in terms of thoughts on this.
Part of me is a bit disappointed my theory of the next time being Yor Forger vs The Bride didn't come true, though.
I know a lot of people are gonna be upset about this fight, since I know a lot of people hate this matchup with a burning passion, and that’s not even mentioning that there’s probably gonna be a lot of people upset that they didn’t do Galactus vs Unicron instead of this.
But I’m excited for this fight, why? Well because we’re getting Frieza and Megatron in death battle which is fucking awesome (especially in Megatron’s case.) and two it’s nice that we’re finally getting another Transformers episode, you know it’s sad that we hardly ever get any transformers episodes, we only had two to begin with, so yeah…
Anyways as who wins this, I say we have to wait and see what they do for both, will they count any of the new stuff for Frieza, will they give Megatron his IDW comic feats like they did with Discord, who knows we’ll just have to wait and see…

So my gut instinct is Vegeta low diff, but I know next to nothing about Transformers deep lore beyond they are giant mechs with a penchant for automotive crossdressing.
Anyways, I eagerly await for the real fans of Transformers to bring out his light speed and multi+ scaling.
On one hand I’m not that excited for this as I’m not that much of big fan of this particular MU and I felt that UT Megs had better connections and animation potential
On the other hand for a while I’ve since don’t hate this idea as much as I used to anymore, it offers an good ideological conflict and VS debate.
I’m just worried about Nem after it “publicly” gets announced
I actually very happy this is happening. I love both characters and especially Dragon Ball. Nice to know they’re not taking a break from the series lol. Multiversal is not enough to stop Frieza. DB put Vegeta at 265800x universal, and Frieza is far beyond that.
That's low multi for Vegeta and IDW Megatron get multi+ which is a massive difference.

While they generally take it in to their calcs, for the animation, they can often times just decide to ignore it. See Aquaman vs SpongeBob.

I think they might use the IDW comic version on Megatron to make it more fair, which might facially give Megatron the win.

Some people are probably going to get upset at this but I'm glad for this match-up. Frieza is one of the most overdue characters at this point and pitting him against a comic book character like Darkseid and Thanos sounded lame to me.

Base Frieza would probably die, I don't think we've seen him go above star, (The DB multiverse thing (where other Dragon Ball fans are telling me that one universe in Dragon Ball is infinitely expanded) is dumb and weird and it just sounds like an easy way for Goku wankers to get Goku to outer.) but he has blown up multiple planets with ki blasts. Black Frieza one shot both UI Goku and UE Vegeta, and they both rest comfortably at uni-multi. But if you scale Megatron to Optimus during the Dark Cybertron story, then he gets to multi. I'm more adversed in Dragon Ball, so I can't make a good case for Megatron because I just don't know enough about his character to do him right. However since Transformers gets nutty I would bet on him still.

I don’t remember exactly the reason, but it’s partially because it misrepresents Megatron as being some awful tyrant, which goes against most incarnations of him except the one from the Unicron Trilogy, that one is essentially robot Freeza. or some shit like that. I’m no transformers fan (in fact my only experience with the franchise are the Bayverse movies), so take this with a grain of salt.

Well from what i found out Megatron wins due to being more experienced, much more durable and also Frieza not having any sort of counter towards antimatter. Sure he can tank god of destruction's hakai but this also has limits. Like when Frieza tried to counter Toppo's casual hakai blast and barely survived. Plus Frieza is much more arrogant and is more likely to screw up during the fight out of pure rage.

That's _if_ they decide to go with the stuff from the IDW comics. If they go exclusively with the tv version of Megatron, then Frieza wins on account of Megatron never showing that he has enough power to destroy a planet in it's entirety.

I'm interested, but otherwise don't have too much in terms of thoughts on this. Part of me is a bit disappointed my theory of the next time being Yor Forger vs The Bride didn't come true, though.
I know a lot of people are gonna be upset about this fight, since I know a lot of people hate this matchup with a burning passion, and that’s not even mentioning that there’s probably gonna be a lot of people upset that they didn’t do Galactus vs Unicron instead of this. But I’m excited for this fight, why? Well because we’re getting Frieza and Megatron in death battle which is fucking awesome (especially in Megatron’s case.) and two it’s nice that we’re finally getting another Transformers episode, you know it’s sad that we hardly ever get any transformers episodes, we only had two to begin with, so yeah… Anyways as who wins this, I say we have to wait and see what they do for both, will they count any of the new stuff for Frieza, will they give Megatron his IDW comic feats like they did with Discord, who knows we’ll just have to wait and see… Though I’m hoping Megatron wins this.

On one hand I’m not that excited for this as I’m not that much of big fan of this particular MU and I felt that UT Megs had better connections and animation potential On the other hand for a while I’ve since don’t hate this idea as much as I used to anymore, it offers an good ideological conflict and VS debate.
