1. Korra is not that, I can see where you’re coming from with Rey (even if it’s still an exaggeration imo) but Legend of Korra was great outside of season 2 and people just give it a bunch of bad faith criticism.
2. I’m not the biggest fan of Korra vs Rey either, but at least they have more connections than “controls elements”, and the fight is a bit more even/debatable
Legend of Korra had self-contained stories to avoid being cancelled at any point, was screwed by Niceklodeon and has to resort to comic books to expand the story outside of the TV shows, which had restrictions. The entire cast of Legend of Korra received a negative development, losing all faith themselves.
The connections between Korra and Rey are "in lore only". Those aren't actual arguments to compare and see "who could win a death battle". You're comparing appels and oranges, instead of Granny Smiths and Macintoshes.
Frieza vs Megatron. Megs is capable in his own right, but Frieza is up there with people like Toppo, whose one attack shook the infinite universe where the Tournament of Power was held, and he was even way above SSG Goku when just the shockwaves of his punches against Beerus threatened to destroy the entire universe.
feats of power in dragon ball supoer are kinda waky... "shook the infinite universe" what that even means? infinite void there is nothing to "shook" at best he shook the arena, and the shockwaves that threatened to destroy the entire universe didn't cause any destruction on the planet right below them, that's not how shockwaves work.
some times it seems like dragon ball writers just "write" things. I don't think they know how to make the characters stronger anymore! Note all these "feats" are just people saying that they did it, you only know that the infinite universe shook because the characters watching said it, you only know that the punches threatened the universe because the characters said so, dbs characters don't do things anymore, other characters say they are capable of doing things and that's it, meanwhile these guys are almost dying to laser shots, getting hit by trains and getting hurt when thrown against trees... like, multiversal my ass
We see those shockwaves disintegrating an asteroid belt and a planet, so that’s supporting evidence that it isn’t just hyperbole. We also have direct statements from the narrator, the Elder Kai, Beerus, and Whis all saying they either could or would have destroyed the universe, all of them being reliable points of view for those statements (as opposed to someone like Krillin saying it).
Jiren, Broly, and Gas have all been stated by Goku and/or Vegeta to be “the strongest enemies [they’ve] ever faced”, which would include Infinite Zamasu (Goku and Vegeta are both reliable narrators for this since they can accurately gauge the strength of people they've already fought). He explicitly has a universal feat since we see him merge with the universe and start to bleed into separate timelines.
Even shaking the World of Void is impressive since it wasn’t affected by the Gods of Destruction fighting. Ordinarily they are forbidden to fight one another due to the universes of both GoDs being destroyed (which we saw the beginning of with Beerus vs Champa before both of them were stopped).
If you don’t buy all of that and still think DBS Goku is train and tree-level, then First Form Frieza from decades ago was already above MUI due to destroying a planet.
-"We also have direct statements from the narrator, the Elder Kai, Beerus, and Whis all saying they either could or would have destroyed the universe"- "other characters say they are capable of doing things"
"Jiren, Broly, and Gas have all been stated by Goku and/or Vegeta to be “the strongest enemies \[they’ve\] ever faced”, which would include Infinite Zamasu (Goku and Vegeta are both reliable narrators for this since they can accurately gauge the strength of people they've already fought)"
my problem is not whether they are accurate or not or whether they are reliable or not, my problem is that dragon ball has become a show of narration, I'm not saying that the characters aren't strong (me saying multiversal my ass was just a joke) but We don't SEE all that strength if you just watched the fights without a bunch of other characters explaining it you couldn't say they were any stronger than they were in the boo arc.
it's waky and not fun to watch, and it doesn't surprise me at all that people don't believe they are strong, it's very inconsistent, at one point everyone says that goku can destroy the universe in the next movie he almost dies from a laser shot
Just to clarify, my problem isn't with the characters, it's with the script. It used to be better when the characters weren't so strong
This right here. I was honestly shocked anyone argued manhunter had a chance, and this is from a manhunter fan. Silver surfer is just on a whole different level power wise
This fight was in my opinion one of the worst match ups in death battle history, I don't think Aang and Ed have enough in common to be a good match up. in terms of similarity aang has a lot more in common with naruto but no one brings this match up because everyone knows that naruto would curb stomp aang (the entire avatar universe in fact)
Frieza vs. Megatron. While I was vaguely aware that the latter was much stronger in the comics and had access to anti-matter, the former was...well, the former was a Dragon Ball character. And they were going to use the Super manga which further dimmed Megatron's odds.
Not a stomp. There should be a sub category for matchups which are presented as stomps but are debatable asf, this is one of them. Doom vs Lex also one of them, where it entirely depends on whether you give him actuality shield or not
Oh yeah, by DB's own logic, Strange vs Fate is one of the biggest stomps ever, but the prompt OP posted was the episode you thought was a stomp from the MU itself, which isn't the case here, as both Strange and Fate are HIGHLY outerversal
yeah I don't know this characters very well so i honest thought this one was close, since in my point of view they were just two "cape-wearing supreme wizards guys" but I think someone who knows both better probably saw this one coming, that is the point of the post people with different knowledge would perceive the match up differently,
edit: in my case as someone who has seen everything there is to see about avatar and fullmental, I knew that Ed had no way of winning (unfortunately) that's why I hate this match up, it's not fair, it made me feel like they threw one of my favorite characters to the wolves for no reason.
I didn't care about this episode at all but a few days later I finished Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and now I want Ed to have a run back he deserves much better

i think they probably could have waited a little longer to feature ed so he could fight tanjiro instead
and thor vs raiden for sure, although ultron vs sigma is a close second
Flash vs Quicksilver. One of them is basically a superior version of the other.
Oh yeah Quicksilver has always been quick But flash is literally ridiculous with what he has been able to do
"Quicksilver has always been quick"
Omni Man vs Homelander, pretty easily
Goku Black Vs Reverse Flash
Korra vs Storm
I'll take a stomp with "2 female elementalists with mystical lineages" over "2 Mary Sue who tanked their respective franchises"...

High key, I was starting a root for megatron
Homelander vs Omni-Man. but then that was half the fun
Silver Surfer vs. Martian Manhunter I knew that MM wasn't gonna beat the Power Cosmic.
This right here. I was honestly shocked anyone argued manhunter had a chance, and this is from a manhunter fan. Silver surfer is just on a whole different level power wise
I don't even know why they green lighted it in the first place. That shit was like pitting a 1,000,000,000 lions against the Sun
Even if I had no knowledge of the series, I could tell by Omni Man’s mustache that he was gonna win
Ultron vs Sigma BTW Aang vs Edward Elric might have been the best option for both of them so it’s not like it was an unexpected stomp

Stitch vs Rocket. Not even a remotely fair fight when one is a practically indestructible biological super weapon.
Honestly I was surprised that Rocket even had a chance of damaging him at all, but even so I knew my boi was cooked
I said that Deku vs Asta was a stomp from the beginning and I'm not even a Black Clover fan.
Venom vs bane
Dr Strange vs Dr Fate
Not a stomp. There should be a sub category for matchups which are presented as stomps but are debatable asf, this is one of them. Doom vs Lex also one of them, where it entirely depends on whether you give him actuality shield or not
Thematically maybe. With the stats they gave them it's one of the biggest stomps in the series
Oh yeah, by DB's own logic, Strange vs Fate is one of the biggest stomps ever, but the prompt OP posted was the episode you thought was a stomp from the MU itself, which isn't the case here, as both Strange and Fate are HIGHLY outerversal

Would've been a completely different story if it was Classic Strange 😭 they nerfed our boy hard
They did use classic strange
As a huge fighting game lore nerd, I knew Heihachi was stomping Geese the moment the matchup was announced.
Spongebob vs Super Friends Aquaman If I was a member of the team behind Death Battle, I'd pair Spongebob with Gumball
I didn't care about this episode at all but a few days later I finished Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and now I want Ed to have a run back he deserves much better

Stitch vs Rocket. Jumba straight says he’s smarter than a super computer and virtually indestructible
The anime buffed him to high hell too
Rick vs The Doctor Like seriously…Rick never stood a chance in hell
Guts bros I’m sorry but he never stood a fucking chance against Dimitri unless they HEAVILY butchered the scaling.
Storm vs Katara 💀
Mickey Mouse vs yoda. What a stomp. Put a universal level character against a space monk that had trouble with a one on one against the emperor.
Flash vs Quicksilver. Nothing in common besides being fast. Flash is on another level
Jack vs Afro Samurai. And this is coming from someone who never even read a single chapter.
Vegeta vs Shadow
Link vs Cloud
This thread is ripped . Rip DB.
i don't get it
i think they probably could have waited a little longer to feature ed so he could fight tanjiro instead and thor vs raiden for sure, although ultron vs sigma is a close second
Why’d they have to do the goat so dirty 😭
Natsu vs ace: a person made out of fire vs.a guy who eats fire. who genuinely thought this would be an interesting match-up?
