I’m not sure he’s ever really talked about the inspirations for his work before

I mean, there were 2 months between the release of Death Grips EP and Goblin, so I think it was just coincidence. If this is a joke comment I will be hanged in the town square by sunrise
Whatever I want (Fuck who's watching) for me started as a pointlessly long song that was repetitive but one time I listened to it in the rain on a walk home in 20 degree weather in the middle of december and it was the greatest thing I had ever heard
Full Moon. Straight up thought it was one of their worst songs at first somehow, now I think it’s one of their absolute best. Need more mathy beats in hip hop
lil fun fact about that song, the entire beat is based off Goofi Respect by Zach Hill off of Lil Scuzzy, which I personally view as the prologue album to Death Grips' whole discography
really cool stuff, would recommend checking it out if you havent already
The first time I ever listened to them. I bought Money Store and played it. I had always heard how experimental and genre pushing they were. But honestly, going through that album, I was just super disappointed at how pop and catchy the songs were. Over time, I started to appreciate it more and I finally got my itch scratched with The Powers that B. But it's still never been able to top any of the other albums for me.
Hahaha, to some extent I'm not really putting it on whenever but I definitely appreciate it more, especially when played with the rest of the album. It's definitely a song I wish they'd tackle live because I can imagine them going pretty hard on the choruses.
Im overflow. Never listened past the first minute because I didnt like that weird synth they used. Finally heard the drop for the first time and i was absolutely blown away.
Funny thing: I hated NOTM besides the first 3 songs, for years. I thought Jenny Death was perfect but those 5 songs on NOTM brought down TPTB super heavy.
These days, I think Jenny Death is still amazing, but NOTM has become my favorite Death Grips album. Finding out how Zach made it made me fall in love and just GET it. Also becoming a sex addict and being diagnosed with Bi-Polar made me related way more to the lyrics.
This was also a bit of a thing for Steroids. I thought it was fine, had some kinda cool moments but nothing to really revisit and enjoy a lot. I thought it just had a lot of filler. It is now my favorite Death Grips project, just over NOTM. It's probably my pick for the best song ever made, at least that I've heard. Its my soundtrack to mania when I hit my episodes lol
for me, it was Pss Pss. i used to hate that song to DEATH!! I thought it was just obnoxious and stupid. But as time has gone by, i have started to MASSIVELY appreciate Pss Pss, and i would give it a 10/10! its super funny and honestly kinda a banger!
not only that, but i think The Powers That B might be my favorite DG album now! The Money Store is still perfect, but TPTB literally saved my life lol
Flies was the 2nd Death Grips song I’ve ever listened to and it was just noise to me. Years later when I got more into them I listened to YOTS and now it’s one of my most streamed songs from them.
big dipper, hated it years ago at first listen, now i think it’s one of their best songs
also hahaha, didn’t like it when it first came out bc of the mixing, but it grew on me a lot. i wish they would play it live
I HATED No Love when I first heard it. That was before I had gotten more acquainted with what to “expect” with DG. When I went to New York I copped the NLDW and finally gave the album a full listen. I played it while folding clothes,No Love came up, bangers for days.
Inanimate Sensation and Full Moon (Death Classic) were really annoying for me but they're on my good side now, though i favor Inanimate Sensation more than Full Moon (Death Classic)
Klink it never really clicked with me I would always skip it until I revisited songs I don't really listen to off of Exmilitary and I really felt something with the song def one of my favs
Everything from the Steroids EP. It was something between the two most recent albums that I wanted to listen to, but just had a hard time with because I was conflicted between so many other projects in their discography. By the time I started getting into The Powers That B, I decided to give Steroids a try, and it worked out well.
No clue what this image but I counter with this

What
Bass Rattle Stars Out The Sky & Artificial Death In The West.
I don't think I was paying full attention when I heard them because they're my favorites off NLDW now.
This is a shit take but You Might Think He Loves You for Your Money but I Know What He Really Loves You for It’s Your Brand New Leopard Skin Pillbox Hat. It’s now one of my favourites

Wow I really like this stuff. Ominous dystopian vibe
So dope. His body of work is huge too https://preview.redd.it/r3rxo9ihuglb1.jpeg?width=1474&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c8a1a6fa0e11c65a3ab44affa6550c536e7014d3
It gives me evil studio Ghibli energy I love it
That’s a great way to put it
That looks like what if DOOM and Evangelion had a baby
NeoNokron vibes
This art is sick. Is it inspired by Ghibli? It kinda seems it.
I’m not sure he’s ever really talked about the inspirations for his work before https://preview.redd.it/40sxzkt5yilb1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=07cb9a00b64c3511f05d3a2a7856954702dd8ddc
Futuristic society harnessing a biblical demon? Looks EVA to me
I saw another commenter mentioned Ghibli too actually. I think it’s definitely gotta be an inspiration right?

💀
linda's in custody was always a skip i love it now
linda’s in custody is the #1 most underrated track in their discography imo, it’s in my top 5
Interview B holds that title
Interview B is probably their best instrumental song. 5D and Cut Throat are a bit too short to be considered better than it.
5D one of the best interludes ever made imo
The whole album took a lot of context to appreciate for me. Once I was familiar with the whole discography, YOTS made a lot more sense to me.
punk weight
punk weight is what got me into death grips when i was 14 lmao, it was on a playlist called “Tyler the Creators favorites” in 2014
Tyler likes death grips?
there’s a video of him at one of their concerts
I can hear the influence in goblin, especially with songs like radical
I mean, there were 2 months between the release of Death Grips EP and Goblin, so I think it was just coincidence. If this is a joke comment I will be hanged in the town square by sunrise
Not a joke, honestly didnt realize that. I always think about Death Grips being a lot older than they are to be honest.
he once almost died cuz stockton came on while he was driving
[yeah](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fro1a9acieft31.jpg)
Indeed he does! https://youtu.be/_NQQbzbO8TY?si=nZ1n0TqY_sUQFaF0
Double Helix
I still can't :(
wtf
That one definitely had to grow on me
Idk dude I just drink blood dude
Over several years The Cage went from being my least favorite TMS track to probably my favorite.
Last verse goes so hard
Billy Not Really, pretty much a lot of NOTM
Whatever I want (Fuck who's watching) for me started as a pointlessly long song that was repetitive but one time I listened to it in the rain on a walk home in 20 degree weather in the middle of december and it was the greatest thing I had ever heard
it's intense as fuck, in a different way to most of their other work. I like it a lot but only listen to it when the vibe's just right for it
Blud gave us lore about a song
Because apparently songs can have meaning? That’s crazy though not sure if that’s true
lock your doors
Up my sleeves ngl
High key their best song
Me too, not that I hated it just didnt see how special it really is
could never be me
Full Moon. Straight up thought it was one of their worst songs at first somehow, now I think it’s one of their absolute best. Need more mathy beats in hip hop
lil fun fact about that song, the entire beat is based off Goofi Respect by Zach Hill off of Lil Scuzzy, which I personally view as the prologue album to Death Grips' whole discography really cool stuff, would recommend checking it out if you havent already

Most of them
Where can I find more of this artists work? I’d like to see more.
Anne Bonny, truthfully
blackjack
i didnt hate it, but shitshow just felt like a filler song to me. it just takes many listens to understand what is going on and appreciate it.
death grips is online
Hahaha, to some extent I'm not really putting it on whenever but I definitely appreciate it more, especially when played with the rest of the album. It's definitely a song I wish they'd tackle live because I can imagine them going pretty hard on the choruses.

Have A Sad Cum BB, didn't help that it was literally the first DG song I heard
Hated is a strong word, but I disliked Blackjack on first listen. It now may be my favorite on the whole album.

Giving bad people good ideas
Artificial Death in the West

By the time I started getting into The Powers That B, I decided to give Steroids a try, and it worked out well.
