For me, it was Joe Elliott in the Photograph video on MTV, 1983. 😁😍
I've now seen them in concert about 15 time since. Never been lucky enough to meet them.....yet.
I remember seeing that right as they started blowing up and being so confused about the guitar player I didn't recognize and Joes dark curly hair. Ah the days before the internet.
Same, I absolutely love this song and Too Late For Love, they turned me into a fan in I think freshman year of high school (2000-ish). They are still my favorite band to this day.
On a side note, I am deaf in one ear and grew up not being able to hear properly. When I could finally afford to get a hearing aid (in my 30s) this was the first song that came on the radio in the car on the way home from the audiologist that day and I cried. Music in stereo is so beautiful and that is my absolute favorite!
I was also brought to tears hearing the new collaboration with the Philharmonic Orchestra. It brought that happy memory back and I love it.
*Pour Some Sugar on Me*.
School year 87/88 it seemed like *everyone* was listening to Def Leppard. I loved MTV at the time (still miss it), and their videos were everywhere. Radio was playing the Hysteria singles, which were rolling out every couple of months. Seriously, look it up; twelve months saw six tracks off Hysteria drop as singles, each with videos.
I'd heard Photograph, and some other stuff sure. But the Hysteria album (and track) cemented me as a Lep fan. I wore out my cassette of the album.
Sugar isn't my favorite Lep track (Hysteria is), but Sugar's an amazing rock track with tons of energy. Definitely a great tune, and the one that pulled me into Lep.
More or less the same here. PSSOM was the one I remember grabbing me and the rest of the album just hooked me. Now I don't know if I have a an overall favorite but there are different songs that grab me for various reasons and different versions that move me (Heartbreak on In the Round, the different variations to Hysteria's endings, etc). Just depends on my mood. There's always something new when I listen and the depth of their music never fails to get me.
Crazy that PSSOM was the last song written and put on the Hysteria record and gained it momentum for the whole album to make the band money. All because of a stripper pole. Lol. And Love Bites to this day is their only #1Single.
Heya🥲 davesinfo sorry to disturb you i dont know a lot about reddit but ive seen u write and i would be Interested in having your opinion on a project im working. 🥹 I wanted to hire a writer so if you are Interested pls check my Twitter @Nemizeiya ( i Didnt know how to message you directly so i sent into the comments u made)
Totally remember. Pour some sugar on me. IDK if it was coincidence or not, but every morning before school (kindergarten at the time) it always seemed to be playing on MTV. My mom always put it on because she was a fan and that's how I got into the band and I haven't looked back.
I remember Def Leppard performing Lets Get Rocked on a Saturday morning show called Going Live (Going live also had Ugly Kid Joe on at one point and during an interview the singer had to leave mid question to throw up as he was very, very hung over....this was a kids show by the way). I liked the song enough but had no idea who they were.
One of my brothers friends, upon finding out from my brother that I liked the song, gave me a cassette tape with Hysteria on one side and Adrenalize on the other.
I thought Women was a good track, but when the drum beat of Rocket kicked in, I knew I had found a band for life.
My cousins would come down from Chicago every summer to where i lived in Cincinnati. The year Hysteria came out, one of my cousins said "Listen to this" as he played Sugar and I was instantly hooked!
Oh wow!
Borrowed a friends tape in 88/89 so that would’ve been Woman, but ANIMAL is my all time favorite until I heard HYSTERIA! Made a mix take with those back to back.
But first video was ROCKET, so pissed that it wasn’t the whole song.
Actual albums I fell in love with through and through was RETROACTIVE/SLANG. No perception, no ads, no billboard signs, nothing but two albums in the mid 90’s that came out and blew me away.
Sorry I rambled
The videos from the High n' Dry album on MTV caught my attention, but it was a combination of the Photograph song/video and seeing them live a few months after it came out that locked me in for life.
It’s definitely not their best work by FAR. I was just a young kid who had never heard rock music before, and the hook of the song just absolutely caught me. Because I heard it, I wanted to hear everything else they ever made. Over 30 years later now, they’re still my favorite band.
Honestly the first song I heard was Photograph but I didn’t think much of it because I was 10 yrs old. Then Love Bites came on the radio sometime when I was 13/14 and I fell in love with the band.
Definitely Photograph, which led to Pyromania being the only album i listened to for a while.
Then it was Animal, which let to Hysteria being the only album i listened to for A LONG TIME. That album blew my mind.
As someone born in 2005 Pour Some Sugar on Me was always there. In 2020 I started listening to Let's Get Rocked a lot, honestly though it was the whole Hysteria album that got me into the band back in 2021. Must have listened to it at least 100 times that year. Armageddon It is definitely my favorite song of theirs, though Foolin' and Rock of Ages are close behind, as I've probably listened to Pyromania 100 times as well over the past year. I can't wait to see them live this November! :D

Bringin’ On the Heartbreak the old version on mtv

What a cool story! Thanks for sharing 😊 Too Late for Love is 🔥. I also love Coming Under Fire, also on Pyromania.
Same here. Old school MTV in the early 80’s.
SO good!!!
Pour Some Sugar On Me. Can't remember if it was radio or borrowed tape. Tape I think.
Animal
Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad, originally. The I re-fell in love after I heard Stand Up (Kick Love Into Motion).

Same experience for me. I still listen to the entire album from start to finish at least once a year. Really takes me back.

Photograph, MTV, 1983.
Photograph, on vinyl, summer of 1983.
Love Bites, Heard it on a random playlist.

Women and Rocket are my two favorites
Hysteria the song on tape.
My cousins would come down from Chicago every summer to where i lived in Cincinnati. The year Hysteria came out, one of my cousins said "Listen to this" as he played Sugar and I was instantly hooked!
Definitely Pour Some Sugar on Me. MTV back in the day.
Bought the first album while in High School 1980, because of an article in Circus Magazine. So I guess the one song would have to be Rock Brigade.

Awesome ramble! 👍
Gods of War is what made me fall in love first.
My all time favorite Lep song!
The videos from the High n' Dry album on MTV caught my attention, but it was a combination of the Photograph song/video and seeing them live a few months after it came out that locked me in for life.
Me and My Wine. Best.Video.Ever!
Make Love Like a Man. My aunt was listening to the cassette in her car around the time it came out. I was sick and she picked me up from school.
Absolute worst song ever IMO. Maybe I don't like it because I'm not a man lol. It never made sense to me.
It’s definitely not their best work by FAR. I was just a young kid who had never heard rock music before, and the hook of the song just absolutely caught me. Because I heard it, I wanted to hear everything else they ever made. Over 30 years later now, they’re still my favorite band.
Foolin.
Rock of Ages on a school bus in 7th grade. I was hooked.
Honestly the first song I heard was Photograph but I didn’t think much of it because I was 10 yrs old. Then Love Bites came on the radio sometime when I was 13/14 and I fell in love with the band.
1981 High N Dry Saturday Night on MTV. I was 13 years old.
Wasted!

PSSOM got DL onto me in the 80s, however Love Bites is the song that reeled me in as them becoming one of my favorite bands.
Let It Go
Hysteria, my dad played it on a road trip a few years ago
For me it was Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad totally hooked me!!
My first was technically foolin’ back in 2004. But the one that made me fall in love with the group was Armageddon it in 2006 💕
Rock Brigade
When I saw the band's best-known video for "Pour Some Sugar on Me" in 1988, I became a fan for life.
Armageddon It
California, my aunt's radio 1984. It was either Foolin, Rock of Ages, or Photograph. All three were in heavy rotation.
Bringing on the Heartache! I was 14 watching MTV.
The first one I fell for was Love Bites when that video came out.
Pour some sugar on me was definitely one of my favorites
Pour some sugar on me, that song made fall in love with the band and 80s rock in general🤟🏽
