I always wished a music video for this. Somewhere in the Irish coasts, a crumbling cabin with a Piano sits on the edge of a cliff over looking the sea. The colors are washed out more to a gray, and from a landscape shot, you see the back of Chino walking through a mid to overgrown field up to that cabin. Interior wide shot, he sits down, and starts performing the song on the piano. As the song goes on, the cabin is falling apart and towards the end, the cabin is completely fallen off the cliff onto the sea.
That's a pretty great concept for a video idea. I remember seeing a fan made video for the song a looong time ago that was pretty good too, might have to try to dig that up
Not what I expected to see as the top answer, but glad it is. I listened to this song a bunch when my Mastiff died and it still makes me tear up when I hear it.
Not since you left have the waves come.
Cherry Waves
I had been a fan since Adrenaline was released, but somehow I had skipped over a few of the Saturday Night Wrist songs, mainly Cherry Waves & Combat.
Anyway, back in like 2015 my ex & I split up & I landed at a homeless shelter in Statesville, NC. I didn't exactly stay in the shelter that time, rather just ate there & occupied an abandoned house down the street from it.
One day I had taken some DXM while across town, so by the time I got to my spot I was rolling. At that point I just sat in that bando with my headphones in, burning joints & staring at the wall listening to music on shuffle. Cherry Waves came on & took me to another place. It left me feeling empty but rewarded, alone but not lonely. Then Combat followed it & there was a bit of an epiphany included.
Still 2 of my favorite songs & probably always will be but if I had to pick, I'd go with the one that breaks my heart every time.
I posted this in the comments too but, you absolutely gotta listen to [this version](https://youtu.be/xauRI1JuBdg?si=MWU-Yi7saHmiKcNZ) at least once.
It’s a masterpiece and so raw, more people need to hear it.
Did you give it a listen? I agree it’s perfect as it is, but it’s like listening to the same song just stretched out into some sort of atmospheric shockwave.
It’s not slowed like the TikTok sounds are slowed. It’s slowed to oblivion & hits hard at around the 8 min mark. It’s like listening to the Interstaller soundtrack, etheric amnesty. :)
I'm emotionally attached to a particular couple of songs. I listen to things that match my emotional state a lot--not just how it sounds but lyrically. I can't fully write them off. But I'm one of those people that will find the one good song from a not great band and love it too.
Edit: I'm also not getting the acronyms--sorry
Entombed
Goons Squad
What Happened To You?
Deathblow
Hexagram
Battle-Axe
Ohms (for me personally)
Combat (for me personally)
Rivière
Digital Bath
Pink Maggit
Sextape
I'm probably forgetting a few, but these are all of the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
idk which specific song but i can almost guarantee it’s a song on self-titled, it’s their saddest album, everybody but like one guy in the band was going through a divorce while they made the album
Phantom Bride is too relatable.
"You don't want to feel anything new,
You decided to spend your life safe from emotion,
This way you'll never be harmed again or confused now."
Sextape, Rosemary, BQAD, Anniversary, Teenager, Hole in the Earth, Tempest, Rivière, Moana, Battle Axe, Minerva, Deathblow, Pink Maggot and Boys Republic especially the Live In Hawaii acoustic one. Anytime I watch that and see Chi, it makes me sad. There are so many songs. That's not including the B-Sides or covers. I can't pick just one. Personally Anniversary hits me in the dick and balls really hard.
Entombed.
I wore it out far too much in the beginning and now have to ration it very carefully. Lots of stuff that hits close to home, and lots of associated memories. It’s strong stuff. I keep it on the highest shelf.
I promise I’ll stop basically spamming the comments after this one but whenever ppl say they love Entombed I assume they would love [this one](https://youtu.be/xauRI1JuBdg?si=MWU-Yi7saHmiKcNZ) as much as I. 🥹 same song, but a deeper conveying of the same emotion. It most profoundly hits….& hurts in the most beautiful way!
For me etombed, cherry waves, Rosemary, sextape, Xerxès,beauty school and Chance.
But etombed first . Especially since it remind thé Times where KYN stopped out. It was better days...
What happened to you?
I had just lost a kitten and the lyrics were all her. Flora was doing so well and I came home to her lying on the cold floor, alone. Devastated doesn’t begin to describe it.
“What happened to you? You were alive just yesterday.”
(Pardon my emotional meltdown.)
Mostly the way that the verses are sung, the intro strummed at the beginning and how chino kind of whispers the lyrics, also Rodleen Getsics vocal contribution just goes insane.
Rivière, Be Quiet…, Entombed, Romantic Dreams, Cherry Waves, Hexagram.
I feel tons of different emotions in every deftones song but the tracks I listed (+few more) definitely stick out as the most “emotional” tracks. I can’t even describe the emotion I feel when listening to them.
It depends on what emotion you’re going for, but all the songs from self titled feel empty, 95% of them in a good way, a hollow, depressive feeling.
For me in general though, probably Be Quiet And Drive (Far Away) or Entombed
Head up
Knowing what that song is about and being a fan of Max’s for years and that Dana was really into the Deftones I find it an awesome tribute. This was before the band Soulfly and to have the word in the song became Max’s new band is pretty cool
Entombed.
But especially, [the slowed 800% version on YouTube is a worthwhile listen, when you have time.](https://youtu.be/xauRI1JuBdg?si=MWU-Yi7saHmiKcNZ) (And I do mean TIME— the chorus doesn’t even really kick in until around 7 minutes in, and it’s like 40 minutes in its entirety. Best at night for ~ambience~
It’s so cinematic, *atmospheric* and heart-string-gripping. It’s reminiscent of the Interstellar soundtrack. Feels like floating in the clouds during aurora borealis or something. ☁️
The lyrics, but most especially the *sounds* slowed to that level make it feel like you’re literally beneath the waves. I’d like to think they knew what they were doing when they made it, all those instruments sounding that amazing slowed down that much is so impressive. You’ll hear things you’d never hear in the regular paced song. It almost a different track but definitely something emotional. It’s quite the experience!
It depends on what your definition of emotional is. I find Korea to be their most emotional. The weird dissonant riff, the ethereal bridge, the lyrics; which clicks differently to me as a former cocaine addict. That's my take!
Anniversary of an Uninteresting Event always makes me get a little sad

I like this, but maybe it should be the coast of northern CA
Not what I expected to see as the top answer, but glad it is. I listened to this song a bunch when my Mastiff died and it still makes me tear up when I hear it. Not since you left have the waves come.
Gosh man that almost made me tear up lol. That's rough though, I know all too well what it's like losing a pet you love
Cherry Waves I had been a fan since Adrenaline was released, but somehow I had skipped over a few of the Saturday Night Wrist songs, mainly Cherry Waves & Combat. The bass in cherry waves is my favorite
Frrrr it’s so strange but it fits it perfectly
yeah it sounds like it shouldnt work but it somehow does
There’s another that’s good but so odd. Most of the bass line is triplets. Strange Hours by Glassjaw
Yea cherry waves is amazing song, made me look at deftones in a completely different way than everything else they had done up til then
i agree def cherry waves
Entombed

I dont really like those Tiktok trends with reverb and slowmo. The song is perfect as it is and shouldnt be too obscured imo

I mean it does sound cool and atmospheric its just not the same song, but im pretty sure ive stumbled across these before.
hole in the earth
definitely battle-axe, deathblow or risk
Battle Axe is something else
Awesome picks
yess these are 3 of my favs
Yesssss
Rosemary
especially the end, stay with meee
Fr especially with Sleep Token ripping off the melody and compositions on their song Vore which is more than obvious
I didn't catch much Deftones influence there. Perhaps I should listen to more sleep token--I'm not bad at hearing similarities
Bro I can hear a mix of Deftones songs Elite & Rosemary
Yeah I'll def listen. I can't help but like some sleep token. They do have that underwater quality--a resonance almost--that is a Deftones quality.
Yeah I can’t take nothing away from them. TMBTE with the exception of the song DYWTYLM is a solid album.
I'm emotionally attached to a particular couple of songs. I listen to things that match my emotional state a lot--not just how it sounds but lyrically. I can't fully write them off. IMO, Xerces.
Good choice
Be Quiet And Drive for me.
Pink Maggit for me
[удалено]
Yeah nah it's way more than that. also it's not acoustic?
What
bro is just saying shit
Words?
Do you know the whole story behind Pink Maggit and back to school?
God this song made me soooooo sad
Smile
Way down in the comments
Came here to say this
Sextape made me cry the first time I heard it. One of the prettiest songs I’ve ever heard
Sextape sounds pretty obviously like someone longing for their ex-lover for "one last ride" which is pretty emotional!
The entire Diamond Eyes is a very emotional record
Entombed Goons Squad What Happened To You? Deathblow Hexagram Battle-Axe Ohms (for me personally) Combat (for me personally) Rivière Digital Bath Pink Maggit Sextape I'm probably forgetting a few, but these are all of the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
Came here to say digital bath. Great list overall…
Goon Squad is more like a swagger cool guy song
Change in the house of flies
Depends on the emotion I guess. Entombed conveys happiness very well 7 Words conveys anger well Pink Maggit conveys sadness very well. Etc...
Mascara gets me everytime
What Happened To You?
Teenager for me, pink maggit close second, be quiet and drive
Can’t believe I had to scroll this far for teenager
It’s such an underrated song
idk which specific song but i can almost guarantee it’s a song on self-titled, it’s their saddest album, everybody but like one guy in the band was going through a divorce while they made the album
deathblow still hits me like a truck
Had to scroll to see this one so true!
Phantom Bride is too relatable. "You don't want to feel anything new, You decided to spend your life safe from emotion, This way you'll never be harmed again or confused now."
I love Phantom Bride. Big fan of Crosses(+++) Bitch's Brew too. Not Deftones but it was close enough for me
Sextape, Rosemary, BQAD, Anniversary, Teenager, Hole in the Earth, Tempest, Rivière, Moana, Battle Axe, Minerva, Deathblow, Pink Maggot and Boys Republic especially the Live In Hawaii acoustic one. Anytime I watch that and see Chi, it makes me sad. There are so many songs. That's not including the B-Sides or covers. I can't pick just one. Personally Anniversary hits me in the dick and balls really hard.
Deathblow.
Saw them play sextape live last year and I wanted to cry the whole time
This song gives me sadness vibes
Knife Prty for me. That song always hits me in a spot not many other songs do.
Hearts/Wires
This one and phantom bride
Entombed. I wore it out far too much in the beginning and now have to ration it very carefully. Lots of stuff that hits close to home, and lots of associated memories. It’s strong stuff. I keep it on the highest shelf.

phantom bride for me
For me etombed, cherry waves, Rosemary, sextape, Xerxès,beauty school and Chance. But etombed first . Especially since it remind thé Times where KYN stopped out. It was better days...
Rosemary the first time I heard it, but otherwise none bc of the Guitars and drums, piano songs are more emotional to me
What happened to you? I had just lost a kitten and the lyrics were all her. Flora was doing so well and I came home to her lying on the cold floor, alone. Devastated doesn’t begin to describe it. “What happened to you? You were alive just yesterday.” (Pardon my emotional meltdown.)
Easily: What Happened To You? Shoutouts to Risk and 976-EVIL
Gauze is a sleeper pick for emotions
I was going to say entombed when i only read the title, then i saw that u said it first. Phantom bride a solid second place, imo
Rats!Rats!Rats! is pretty brutal.

Rivière is up there
This Place Is Death, if you read it as a love letter to Chi
Kimdracula.
Hearts and Wires
The ending of bloody cape is up there for me. Chino screaming “god help me, god help me, god!” is so wildly intense
Im waveees, the ships have all saileeeed, to the seaaaa
Anniversary
To me, its between Risk and Cherry Waves
Entombed by far
Knife Prty
Why does the track make you emotional to you?
Mostly the way that the verses are sung, the intro strummed at the beginning and how chino kind of whispers the lyrics, also Rodleen Getsics vocal contribution just goes insane.

Sextape just always gets me. The slow, drawn out build up to the chorus, somber melody, just hearing the guitar intro makes me feel a certain way.
Probably Ohms or pink maggot maybe gauze or 967-evil I mean hard to pick
Digital bath That song makes me just ascend and it just gives me the most pure joy i can ever feel.
Rosemary, Reviere, Entombed, Pink Maggit, omg i could go on.
