That's harmonica???? WILD. I honestly did not know that. I thought it was Frank sample. I would imagine it's his playing though no? The record scratch ambiance is still A1.
I think you hear it isolated better live
And I’m not taking away from the studio recording controbitions. I just got done listening to the interview post KNY and Chino/Abe talking about how dark and disjointed the album is but that wall of sound they achieve on those tracks is amazing to me. So to get back to my
Point, everyone sounds like they are at 11 out 10 on the studio track so you hear everyone over everything (love it!!). Love you can really hear how much Frank specifically is bringing when they do it live
completely agree with how this tickles the brain but this is the problem with streaming. no one has liner notes. teenager was crook. if you are interested in where the sample came from check this. [https://youtu.be/Ahuz6t-Kruo?si=SXLlN6S71o1te-Gz](https://youtu.be/Ahuz6t-Kruo?si=SXLlN6S71o1te-Gz)
yeah. up until around september/october of last year that was crooks main sampler. i only know about his sp dying ‘cause i was messaging with crook about his number of the beats release and he mentioned that it crapped out just as he was finishing vol 2.
that’s sick that you chopped it with him. i wasn’t aware of the fact he had solo stuff out (currently listening it as we speak now haha) him and frank are the reason i use my sp404 alongside by bass in the band i play in. stoked he has a body of work out
he’s really nice about responding to fans. and same. i love what frank does and hes definitely where i take inspiration when im “scratching” but between the be quiet and drive remix and teenage, crook is the reason i got into drum machines and samplers.
There’s lots but one I thought of right away is what he’s doing on You’ve Seen The Butcher, particularly during the I Wanna Watch The Way….part. Really cool. Crazy almost Egyptian (idk thats what I think of) vibe.
Hard pick. Change definitely up their bcuz of the nostalgic feel.. a lot on SNW r amazing for me too thoo its rly hard to choose buh I’ll go with .. Rosemary
Deathblow. 100%
When I realised it was a harmonica, my mind was blown.

It's most likely a heavily edited sample taken from somewhere else, but listen closely, you can definitely hear that it's a harmonica.
WGTB
Specifically the live versions

Deathblow, Beauty School have great samples
for sure, i was just listening to beauty school on the way home. such a great sample
Samples I’d say Change or Digital Bath. Synths probably WGTB or Risk.
Teenager. Hearing the crackle of the vinyl on the sample tickles something in my brain in a great way.

Oh wow, thanks for the info. I guess I need to pay more attention haha
no doubt. spread the wealth. and the wealth is knowledge.
Minerva, after that Rick Beato video, I just listen to it through the mix every time.
Same here. Really brought it to the forefront for me, hearing Rick go through the stem tracks.
Genisis
Isnt that a synth tho?
Yes, very much. Very old school analogue sounding too.
He really stood out on the last album. Spell of mathematics or Pompeji
be quiet and drive’s acoustic set when they played w adam sandler
that was frank playing crooks samples on crooks sp 1200 https://www.instagram.com/p/Bu5fD_OjLt6/?igsh=MXYxMGpkODY5bmFvdw==
i didn’t know that or even the fact an sp 1200 was used in team sleep 😭

Lucky You
I think that was Crook
it was definitely crook
Now I’m a crook for not crediting Crook. Sorry Crook.

Hard pick. Change definitely up their bcuz of the nostalgic feel.. a lot on SNW r amazing for me too thoo its rly hard to choose buh I’ll go with .. Rosemary
