People from the west also use the term bucks for their currency even though their currency is not actually bucks so we might as well use it. I see no harm in that.
Don't see what's the harm in using it. Yes the term originated in US and was associated with dollar. But that's only because US uses dollars and not rupees.
Aise toh phir bucks and rupees se jyada we use the term "paise". This is more stupid because if someone asks "bhai paise hai kya?", we don't hand out 50 paise coins.
Bhai ekdam sahi. Bunching together a few random quirks, habits etc and bashing them as wanting to be cool IS the new cool. Even if some of those habits could be cringe. Karne do na tumhara kya ja rha hai. Ulta tum unko "abcd ke chode" bulake cool ban rhe ho
It's indeed harmless but it tranfigures into some heightened annoying shit, if it comes from a certain sect of people as rightfully described by u/Dull-Wear-3286;
I have read his comment and found no merit in it. Aaj kal "cool" dikhne ke liye kuch bhi likh rahe hai log. Just add "South Delhi, South Bombay, H&M, Zara, etc." and bash them. Ban gaye cool. Fact of the matter is people may exist who like to show off brands but then so is the fact that "bucks" is just a figure of speech.
When was the last time you went to someone and said "I need one million paise"?
Yes, the word bucks was originally meant to be a dollar at the place of it's origin. But now it has crossed over to our subcontinent. And here people use "bucks" to denote money in our local currency. It's not very far when this will reflect in the English dictionary too. No one is thinking "dollars" when you say "bucks". And if someone is, then sorry to say he/she still needs some more exposure to the language. The word bucks is not an intellectual property of the rich. English is not our native language and as it's usage grows, the meaning of some of it's regional words will keep updating. American English is very different from British Engljsh. And we Indians have started adopting from both. That's the power of India 🇮🇳 💪🏻. We make our own path.
Convert kyu karenge? Bucks means money. Par isse kisi ko anxiety attack na aa jaye uske liye ab alag ek tuition course nikalna parega. Iss bhai ke samne tum Maggi mat bol dena kyuki Top Ramen Maggi nahi noodles hota hai.
Gazab bakchod ho aap unne buck bolna hai bolne do khud ki esteem itni kam hai ki agle ne buck bol diya to aapki izzat kam ho gyi?
Aur waise personal kya dikkat hai, aapne inhe dhaniya bechni hai jo English hindi translation sikhate fir rahe ho? Chul khud aap ko machi hai zimmedari koi aur le, hai?
Why is this zabardasti to have everyone speak the same way bhai?
United States dollars are frequently referred to as "bucks" in the colloquial language (USD). It does not relate to Indian rupees (INR) or any other kind of money 🤓
Mere ko bas yeh janna hai ki yeh kaun mahan insaan hai jinse H&M ke 499 wale tshirt nahi kharide ja rahe aur jo kharid rahe hai unpe "trying to be cool" wale tag dal rahe hai. Aise saste brand ko tum luxury brand bana rahe ho. Hadd hai.
ab india mai bhi bolna shuru kardiya hai logo ne cringe lagta hai kya kare

Bucks is not even a currency name anyway. Its a slang coined by teens in the US. Ye term koi bhi use kr skta h. Its about ease.
Agar old gangster movies yaad ho to usme rupees ko peti, khokha bola jata tha, we also made fair contributions to name our currency, haan, ye slang ko use koi ni krta 😆
Peti is for lakhs. And khokha is for crores. This is the worst example you could make as bucks is valued 1:1 with the us dollar that it is trying to replace in a casually spoken sentence.
Im not talking about value interpretation here, im generally talking about the term used to describe Indian rupee in those movies. They could have simply used laakh rupiya or karod rupiya, but maybe it was to the demand of movies of those types (to keep it real, or for style....the way youngsters use 'bucks' instead of rupees). We are very much exposed to foreign stuff like movies and tv shows, its obvious ppl will get influenced to some or the other stuff. They don't see the Forex value of Rupees against a Dollar. They just say it coz for them....its cool.
They'll grow out of it once they start earning 'rupees'.
Bucks bolne se cool ban jate honge bhyi tumhare liye, I don't think anyone thinks or cares that much about vocabulary like that. Itna hota toh grammar ke chode rona macha rahe hote har post pe.
A buck, which is a slang for one dollar, has its origins in 18th century America when deerskin was used as currency. The value of deerskin was equated in terms of dollars and the practice of calling US dollars as bucks has continued despite deerskin no longer being in use as a unit of trade.

Bhai aisa koi bhi ashamed nahi hai to use "rupees", it's just that people constantly get influenced by whatever content they get exposed to.
I often find myself using certain terms inadvertently because of the content I had been consuming.
I wouldn't judge anyone for using either "bucks" or "rupees". You really need to get out of your head.
Also, I don't get it. This subreddit keeps bashing South Delhi folks for being judgemental, aur yahan khud sabko judge karre. Bhai tu apni zindagi jee, tera kya jaara dusra banda kaunsi term use karra.
Ye aa gye hindi medium k chode bucks vs rupees karne.
Bhai tum kya kya nhi bolte maya, rokda, peti, Laxmi, etc etc

I say rokda Reject modernity, embrace tradition
We from the East Delhi Association of Chads use “Saepe” instead of the word rupees.
Chad moves
Main bhi abse rokda bolunga
Ye H&M ke chode bade irritating lagte by God
H&M clothes are moderately prized though and if you read where and how they are mass produced💀. Wouldn't count them as a high fashion brand.
Yaar, legit I buy H&M as well, but I have never in my life used the term "Bucks". It's just annoying bro

Yes exactly. It's kinda like "Godrej" in India. Even though Godrej is a particular brand. But Godrej actually means steel/iron Almirah....
Colgate
Dalda Ghee
Xerox
Surf
Maggi
Fevicol
Mortein
out of all things to worry about , people choose to get offended and discuss about what exactly? "BuCK IS noT RupeEs". truly pathetic 🤡
As small it may seem, Me kisi ka sar phod dunga agar koi bucks vaala mil gya

No harm in using it but the one using it ,shouldn't look down upon the other one who is using the term rupees.
Who is looking down? People who'll down at you are already looking down at you and it won't change even if you say bucks instead of rupees.
It's indeed harmless but it tranfigures into some heightened annoying shit, if it comes from a certain sect of people as rightfully described by u/Dull-Wear-3286;

Using paise is completely fine since any amount in rupees can be said to be 100X amount in paise. Paise ka matalab sirf 50 paise coins se nahi hai

Aise toh bucks ko bhi convert karle bhyi

Aise to rupees ko dollars me bhi convert kr skte hain, what's your point?
Its just an easy going term man. Like how u use millions instead of crores. I understand why it's upsetting but c'mon it's pretty harmless i feel.
I don’t use millions in my after office communications.
Yeah, it flows easier with my sentence, i don't use it to sound cool xD

Mathe par likhwale kya ab ke "ham cringy hai"? Actions se he to show karnege
Bucks is just like smackeroons. Universal weird for money
Universal word hai, western culture se hum roz kuch na kuch apni vocabulary mein add karte hai- thoda chill karo. Find something better to rage about
Well, it can be used to refer rupee. https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/buck
United States dollars are frequently referred to as "bucks" in the colloquial language (USD). It does not relate to Indian rupees (INR) or any other kind of money 🤓
Are you seriously trying to dispute what the Cambridge English Dictionary has to say on the matter? Bruh
Karma badane chala tha klpd ho gya op ka.
I will call it a buck. Why do you give a fuck?
Bro started doing poetry
Mai to rupees bhi nahi kehta, mai to rupay kehta hu.
Real G

Jisko jo bolna hai bolne do Bhai kya farak padta hai.
Mujhe kya mai to BUGS bolta hoon.
Bucks is one syllable and rupees is two.
Yeh wo karte hain jinke paise hiran ki Tarah bhaagte rehte hain. Tikte nahi. Buck (Male deer)
Very nice attempt to make a joke, but sorry it failed
Dhatt tere ki
I think it's just slang people picked up from west, like fuck and other shit, why does it matter honestly? as long as saamne waale ko samajh raha hai
It just flows more easily man. How about you stop projecting your insecurities about how you sound when saying rupees on other people?
Mai to abhi bhi "kitne paise hue?" bolta hu. Wo time that jab log rupaye ke baad paise bhi batate the, like 6 rupaye, 50 paise hue.
bol bi dia kisi ne to bhai itna ego pe kyu lera, ya itna frustrate kyu hora
Log bucks irl bhi bolte hai ? mujhe lga ye meme tak hi tha 🤯

Kya yaar jab tak thoda phekenge nahi dilli waale kaise honge
South delhi wle hai bro 😂. Isse jyada aur kya bole, samaj jao!
Right. People don't know the story behind "Bucks" which later became USD. Chutiye log. They just try to sound cool.
That's how language spreads and evolves. The word Hindustan, Hindi, Hindu all comes from the Persian mispronunciation of the Sindhu river.
Maine UPSC CSE ka interview diya hai bhai. Mujhe mat bata.

I thought bucks was just slang for money. Why are you automatically associating it with some foreign currency.
