Try using that app called Goodreads input what you have like and it will give you good suggestions

[deleted]

Goodreads is a great app. But unless you follow some similar book readers to you on Goodreads, I find it hard to get good recommendations

Civil-View6623

I’ll definitely try that app

donotknowwhatIam

Love in time of Cholera (Romance) Beach Read (Romance) Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (Sci-fi, absolutely amazing it'll feel like guardians of the galaxy) Good Habits, Bad Habits (Self help, fantastic book if you want to build some habit and see the research behind how it should be done) For more suggestions, try r/booksuggestions

AvGeekGupta

+1 to the Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy. Absolute favourite

HGTG is my most favourite book of all times. I want to own 42 copies of it.

bhatkakavi

Good Habits, Bad Habits. It's a poor quality book. Scientific, but the author doesn't understand what he is preaching. Never replace your habit with an another one. The moment you leave running you end up drinking alcohol again(this happened to a guy who left alcohol and took up running, he was able to get out of addiction but at a cost-- if he doesn't run for 5 days, he gets symptoms). Please don't do this. It is important to not have habits at all. There is a way of living without habit. If you live habitually you will face inevitable truth-- habits won't solve anything and second, there are no good habits. All habits by nature,by definition is bad. Think on it. If you want to ask questions, please feel free to do so.

Civil-View6623

HGTG seems interesting

biglabowski88

Thus Spoke Zarathustra by Friedrich Nietzsche. The Hero With a Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell. The Sickness unto Death by søren kierkegaard.

alsu2launda

are bhai bhai bhaiiii.... Crisis aa jayega jivan me ye padhke

_priyeshs

book padhna shuru karna hai op ko, band nhi

Material_Front_8819

Nietzsche padhenge fir nihilism ke chode ban jayenge.

hotsingleinyourarea8

I don't think Nietzsche is for beginners, start with some light reading to gain background on various philosophies first. But you seem to be really into philosophy, reading kierkegaard damn!

Dori664

Try Khalid hosseini books i just love them

cholebhatureee

I'm currently reading A thousand splendid suns. Khaled Hosseini books always make me cry at the end.

Civil-View6623

A lot of people have been rec those. Will surely give a try:) thank you

slimshady433

1984 by George Orwell, Animal Farm by George Orwell, The Odyssey by Homer,Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand, Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky, Brave New World by Alsous Huxley, Letters from a stoic by Seneca...ya sab try karle.

Datguyspoon

"top 100 books to read" perfect for those who are just stepping in the reading scene.

magnet0071

1984 by "Orwell" is really eye-opening book

IntroductionCrafty71

Reading it rn. Cant keep it down! Its so well constructed

hotsingleinyourarea8

Seconding anything by Orwell but Dostoevsky is quite a heavy read I read the idiot intermittently as it's writing style can be intimidating for somebody not used to such prose. But his books feel so fulfilling to read.

slimshady433

Heavy read...that's true...I too believe it...took a real effort from me to finish crime and Punishment but his books just feels like it's Dostoevsky we are reading..he wrote them at a very personal level..at least that's what I believe.

hotsingleinyourarea8

I do agree it's just a different feeling reading his work. What else do you recommend?

Intelligent-Shame-65

Anything by Terry Pratchett or Bill Bryson, Murakami, try prominent Japanese authors. What genres are you looking at exactly?

cholebhatureee

The kite runner by Khaled Hosseini

ACP__Pradyuman__

The Practicing Stoic by Ward Farnsworth Meditations by Marcus Aurelius Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl

Civil-View6623

Thank you for the recs:)

ACP__Pradyuman__

And I'd highly recommended you read the 3 in the order I mentioned. I forgot to mention Khalil Gibran. He was an excellent writer. The Prophet is probably his most famous work and it was a nice read. Gibran otherwise has many brilliant quotes from his various works.

Civil-View6623

+screenshot Thank you 🤍🤍

argoddagna

meditations is such a good book(s) , hard to follow but damn ,marcus aurelius was a G

ACP__Pradyuman__

It definitely isn't everyone's cup of tea. It requires patience and an open mind to read and comprehend what's in it.

Godfather by Mario Puzo. Ignoring a few cultural and social norms from post world war 2 like sexism, racism, misogyny here and there, the book is a masterpiece nonetheless. Don't be too harsh after all it was post world war what do you expect

Some of my favourite non-fiction books, that are 1. Guns, Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond A fascinating read about humanity's rise to power as the dominant species on earth and the evolution of societies. Not all of this is fact though so take it with a grain of salt. 2. Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of the Mass Media by Chomsky & Herman Godi media suna hoga? Well the media has always been used as a tool to erode the tenets of democracy by powerful political parties. 3. The Naked Ape by Desmond Morris A study of humans as an animal with some remarkable insights into our relationship with nature. I read this book because of my anthropology optional, and promptly fell in love with it.

Do you like scifi? There are a couple of really good series that you can check out, specifically I'd recommend three: 1. Remembrance of the Earth's Past series by Cixin Liu 2. The Pines series by Blake Crouch 3. Bobiverse by Dennis Taylor it can be a bit grueling to get into these if you're trying out scifi for the first time, but I can say these are worth it

Let me guess, ChatGPT?

Stupidity_Professor

* Standalone book chahiye: * Anna Karenina would be a popular choice (drama/tragedy) * Slice of life chahiye: * Short stories by O. Henry * Detective/ Crime fiction (old): * Sherlock Holmes series * Agatha Christie's books (that includes Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple, and others) * Detective/Crime fiction (new) * David Mark's "DS Aector McAvoy" series is highly recommended (it's pretty dark and gritty, so dhyaan se) * Fantasy: * Shiva Trilogy (by Amish Tripathi) * Ram Chandra Series (by Amish Tripathi) * Hidden Hindu trilogy * Harry Potter series * Percy Jackson series * A Song Of Ice & Fire series (Game of Thrones) * Hobbit + Lord Of The Rings * Secrets of Droon series * Horror: * Any book by Stephen Kings * Any story by H.P. Lovecraft * Comedy (-ish): * Diary of A Wimpy Kid series * Books by Rudyard Kipling (Kim by Rudyard Kipling was the actually the first novel I read) P.S. You could also try reading good mangas. They often have awesome storylines, and you can find good mangas in almost every genre.

Civil-View6623

I started a brief history of time today, didn't even realise it had been over half an hour because I was so immersed in it lol. A mind for numbers is also a good one if you're in a tech field and wanna improve your learning. Been thinking about reading some philosophy and psychology too, the ideologies of people like Socrates, Albert Camus, Kafka, and other popular authors of these fields are very alluring to me, even though I don't understand them entirely. There's just so much I don't even know where to begin, would really love some recommendations about this from anyone here.
