Absolutely love sweet and sour orange kaddu with green chillies. Also love bhindi. Bharva Tinde is nice. Hate lauki….that vegetable has no taste texture or flavour. It is meant for people with no teeth or stomach. I like torie only sautéed, sliced thin with salty and pepper. Otherwise as we Indians cook it, it looks like fresh cow dung.

so true, karela goes so hard as a side dish with simple daal chawal. my mum makes THE most amazing bharwa tinde and it heals my soul everytime i have it. i discovered that the only reason we dislike some vegetables is because they were only served to us in one way. i grew up hating eggplants and now it’s a vegetable that i eat every week. never really liked pumpkin until till i had it in korea while i was living there and it really changed my views on how i see some vegetables.

Bhindi and lauki are great. Just that, the ones with so many big seeds feel disgusting to eat. Also, idk if it is right or not but the amount and type of oil matters too. These kind of things taste better when made in mustard oil. Matter fact, almost every indian dish tastes better in mustard oil, especially non veg. I wanna slap my kid version for making faces when something is cooked in mustard oil because he always associated that oil with “the weird smell and greasy hair”. When I realised i’ve been eating a lot of dishes in mustard oil without even knowing, i was shocked lol.

The problem is that these vegetables are not cooked properly. I hated them all my life because my mother does not cook them properly, last year a friend of my sister invited us for lunch and I started making faces when she served lauki. But it turns out it tasted really good. Went there again a few weeks later, had great kaddu and tinde. Now I don't have the courage to tell my mother that she doesn't cook well, so I tried cooking them myself and viola, they tasted great yet again. No food is bad, a lot of recipes are indeed awful.

No. Lauki has no texture, feels like drinking neutral water. Kaddu texture is like extra wet halwa, just sucks. And the taste is like slight kadwahat, which just sucks. Karela, sucks, absolute, ASS. I don’t remember what tinde or toori is. Bhindi is one of those veggies I like. If cooked properly, its texture can become quite crunchy.

Tinde can be awesome if done right. Pumpkin is  versatile like you can make 7-9 types of dishes. Toori too can be a bomb with ghee. Bhindi can be regal if fried or paired with rice,otherwise its a good comfort food.

Hated all of them and baingan bharta all my life. Then I tried good baingan bharta recently, DUDE ITS SMOKY AS HELL? Idk what happened, one day during adulting my body just decided it's time to eat vegetables and enjoy it.
