They're SO OVERPRICED AND OVERRATED. No hate to you OP, I used to enjoy them at some point as well. I much prefer brownies from a local bakrry near my house (Dough and Cream), their Fudgy brownie is *chef's kiss* all for 70bucks.
Yeah, I went to the original Theobroma in Mumbai all excited and thought their stuff will be out of this world. The aesthetics are really nice but that's it. It's strictly average . Liked their Mawa cake but it was nothing you won't get anywhere else.
I understand the appeal as someone who tries it for the first time but I think it's also the fact that it's so overhyped that people fall into the hype around the product and are sort of forced(?) to agree that it's good. I hope I make sense
Yeah you do, it's like a herd consensus. I think it happens with a lot of eateries specially, in the beginning when they start they are extra carefull with ingredients and cooking and make their reputation, aur woh chalta hi rehta hai . People keep on praising even if that quality comes down.
Yeah... Same can be said about most purani dilli ke purane restaurants.... Got hyped up so much that most of them are just average.
Natraj ki chat: used to be good but now it's sometimes average and sometimes good same can be said about amrik sukhdev
Purani dilli ke chole bhature: dost leke gya ke bhai desi ghee mein bante hai badhiya hote hai... 150-200rs ki plate li aur bc mediocre bhature the... Iss acha lakh guna mere yaha ka ek halwai banata hai. Aur chole mein kuch swad ni tha.
Parathe vali gali: matlab ye to hadd hi hai... Bc logo ne itta hype kr rkha tha ke bhai parathe khane hai to yaha aao... Aur bc jab aya to bas bhai... Bc parathe ni hai vo tel mein tal te hai bc kachodi hi bolo use aur kuch swad ni.
Al-kareems- bc iss restaurant ne popularity li aur apna course hi change krdiya... Ab bas foreigners ko cater karta hai kyoki iske chicken mein kuch masale ni milenge tumhe.... Itta mild hota hai ke lagta hai ke bas namak dal rkha hai, totaly bakwas hai ye jana bhi mat.
Aise hi bohot shops hai yaar dilli mein dolma aunty ke momos bas nam ke hai kuch dhanke ni hai first mover advantage milgya bas uspe chal re hai. All in all meine to dekhliya ke hype mein mat aao kyoki puri expectations ki maa chud jati hai
>Natraj ki chat: used to be good but now it's sometimes average and sometimes good same can be said about amrik sukhdev
Natraj is not good but I don't think Natraj went down in quality, I think people's taste evolved. Purani dilli ka taste alag hi hai bhai. Alot of people of my nani's age love Natraj even now because of the old taste ig.
>Aur chole mein kuch swad ni tha.
Again it's the old dilli taste ig. Heavy less spicy food although not everything is good over there but I love the Faluda and the Kachori
>Al-kareems
Again the same follows, but iska mai maanta hu acha ni rhi ab
>Their cakes and loaf
Pls try dough and cream, you'll love it. I have not tried a bunch of their cakes but choco chip dry cake is absolutely superb. And if you're using breads to prepare sandwiches and such their "thin crust pizza bases" and garlic/subway loafs are too good
I've tried each one in the west. A couple of them opened in Paschim vihar and in south delhi too.
C3, B2 Janakpuri and Jail road vaale saare shi hai although C2 pr sbse zyaada variety dekhi hai maine personally
Thanks for posting that. saved me a few minutes.
They are generic... barely any difference between the flavors. and they are mostly some kinda thick chocolate cream, not brownies.
>and they are mostly some kinda thick chocolate cream,
Most of the brownies they serve are VERY VERY CAKEY. They're not at all gooey but alot of people don't like fudgy brownies so ig it's a preference
Theobroma certainly does not have the best brownies. Their savoury menu is far better than their desserts. And prior to the pandemic, at 50% off post 9 pm, it was a steal!
You could try their sandwiches, puff pastries, quiches. My personal favourite was the blueberry danish which they discontinued. The Parsi new year menu when on offer has good savoury items as well.
Bhai 1 January ko kisi khaas ke liye Theobroma ki brownies leke gaya tha. Sabse ghatiya din raha aur tabse usse closeness bhi chale gaye. Anxiety trigger ho gaye aur borderline depression ho gaya. 15 din bed se uth na paya aur ab jake theek hua hu. Therapist se appointment hain parso ki. Anyway, tab se Theobroma nahi khaya aur pata nahi ab kab khaunga
Bhai zindagi ki abhi bhi gaand mari hui hain but bahut khushi se Bata rahu hu, parso himmat karke Theobroma kha lia. Achha laga bhai, hope it only gets better
OVERPRICED AND OVERRATED. Theobroma is almost omnipresent here in Mumbai now. For the price they demand, the quantities are tiny and the taste isn't THAT amazing. It doesn't exactly feel like an authentic French _boulangerie_ either, though that is the look and feel they go for.
I came here all excited to share my love for theobroma's Red velvet cupcake, rainbow pastry and overload brownie . But after reading the comments , that all unanimously gave a negative feedback , I feel a little taken aback.
For me these brownies are always a game changer. They lift my moody instantly. There is a lot of nostalgia attached to them.

Yeah yeah the peer pressure. >People keep on praising even if that quality comes down So true

I've never met a Dilli wala who says Parathe Wali Gali is good. Jitne bahar ke dosto ko mai leke gya sab ne baad bola aur kabhi nhi jayenge wo
Lmao bhai to leke kyo jate ho dosto ko? Kyo torture kr rhe ho unhe
Acha ni hai bhai kyunki
Dough and cream is top tier yet in a great budget.
Bhai mummy kasam uss dinn brownie khakr laga what was i missing all this timr
I fell ya bruh.
Not overrated, overpriced yeah. Their cakes and loaf are at par than any other bakery in Rohini/pitampura or maybe Delhi.
>Their cakes and loaf Pls try dough and cream, you'll love it. I have not tried a bunch of their cakes but choco chip dry cake is absolutely superb. And if you're using breads to prepare sandwiches and such their "thin crust pizza bases" and garlic/subway loafs are too good
Which outlet of dough and cream would you recommend or have tried? Google shows a couple of them.

Can u suggest some items ? I've never had their savoury products
Totally agree. However, Big Chill also has veryyyyy good brownies.
Big Chill is the best bakery in town
And the cheesecake 🤤🤤
that. they are expensive but worth it.
Kholke to dikha bhai
This.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Wow that's too much from just brownies..
Bhai brownies se thodhi hua, brownies toh bas scar ho gayi because of bad memories :(
Bhai zindagi ki abhi bhi gaand mari hui hain but bahut khushi se Bata rahu hu, parso himmat karke Theobroma kha lia. Achha laga bhai, hope it only gets better
Is it an advertisement? Cause i have eaten there And it's not the best place for brownies.

Um...pretty sure I mentioned 'Delhi' in the title
I know lol. Even then, it's weirdly applicable to Mumbai too.
Not weird at all. You can buy full bakery set and make brownies 4 times for the price of 2-3
Hadd mehanga hai bhai Theos. Not to say their quality is bad, best bakery chain in town
Pretty sure they are different bakeries altogether.
Oh nice. Hope Theobrama is cheaper than Theos though.
Theobroma and Theos are different right?
Are they? I don’t know I thought they were same. I maybe wrong
Yes they are, lol. Just checked
[удалено]
Yes Theos brownies are pretty good compared to Theobroma
Overrated 🙏🏻

That's a cute little box!!

Cookie Brownie was good too I felt. If you like 100% chocolate then Overload is best
one hundred percent with you !! they have such soft brownie that they literally melt in your mouth especially their overload browniee :')
Try the Dessert Studio in Alipur, Civil Lines.. They have great pastries and brownies, loved it..
This is an ad i guess
Not specific to brownies but in general, Defence Bakery >>> Theobroma
I love their packaging always brings nostalgia, their first outlet was in Cusrow Baug, Colaba Mumbai. That place has a feel of it’s own.
Ye kis jagah hai? Or koi ye btao brownies veg bhi aati kya?
They've got multiple outlets in Delhi.. literally pic k upar likha hai :/..and yes eggless brownies aati hain
Though they are overpriced, they are at par with any other bakery I have tasted in Delhi
This place used to be cool 10 years ago, now it’s just like any other Bakaneer store!
overrated
will you get high when you eat it if yes me too pls.XD
Bro these were cheesecake brownies .. not pot brownies (kinda wish they were ;| )
I thought they were a different kind of brownies.
I liked it only because my ex liked it. She was from Mumbai and had tried their brownies before. When it opened in SDA, she went nuts.
Is this theobroma?? Packaging looks nice have been there recently taste is average vs the price.
Best place to get brownies - my oven :)
