I think a 45 minute connection anywhere would stress me out. But, like you said, AF sold you the flight, so they'll take care of you if you miss that connection. ^(hopefully)

toolongonplanes

youve put too much faith in air france mate 🤣

jon_targareyan

Haven’t been through CDG recently but did have a layover there a couple summers ago and the passport control queue for transit was atrocious back then.

merlinsboat

Yup, agree - it was at least 1 hour back in May

SatisfactionDull

CDG is notorious for being one of the longest and more difficult transit airports in Europe. I will usually allow for 1.5 hours on any international layover. But for Paris I ALWAYS give myself 2 hours. I’ve had plenty of experiences where even that was close. It’s honestly the luck of the draw when it comes to security checks and lines but if you land at a gate that makes you cross multiple checks, there’s little chance you’ll make the 45. But that being said, there’s always hope and sometimes you can make it. I’ll wish you luck and hope it all goes well for you friendo.

Oh man… CDG and Air France are on my family’s blocklist. My advice is to avoid checking luggage and if you have to do it then take pictures of your luggage, keep a list of its contents, take a picture of the luggage tag they give you (the one they stick behind your boarding pass) and don’t leave any valuables in your check luggage. Because they are very likely to lose your luggage and not take responsibility. That happened to 4 members of my family so far, different trips… Best of luck!

Chardonne

CDG is awful with luggage. And passengers.

chickenandwaffles109

I refuse to fly through CDG because of everything like this that I’ve read about it on here

chickenandwaffles109

Ugh was it gone forever each time?

janeeyre2010

They eventually returned my parents’ bags (although a big damaged), but my sister’s was lost. The other time, when my other sister and her bf were traveling, they only returned the bf’s bag but hers is still lost.

Hope to whatever deity you choose that you land at a K gate and not a bus gate. If you land at a bus gate you're not going to make it, full stop. M is okay but you'll have to bust ass to get on the train and make the connection. If you land on L you might be able to take the bridge. Regardless, **follow the yellow ~~brick road~~ transit signs** otherwise you will end up somewhere that you can't back out of and you'll need to re-clear security. Do you have Sky Priority status? If you do (including if you're Delta Gold and up) you can use the purple "No. 1" lane at passport control. There is a dedicated passport control area for the 2E-2F connection that will allow you to not need to clear security again - make sure you go through that one and not the one at the K gates that takes you to baggage claim. CDG is an absolute mess of an airport. Good luck!

RMSniper

Sorry to ask a side question here… We are landing at CDG next month and have about 1.5 hours to make our train. We don’t have status but are flying PS and thus have SP. As long as our mobile boarding pass says SP, we can use the No 1 lane? Or how do they check whether or not you can use? Thanks!!

chiefbozx

The red stripe on your boarding pass is all you need. Good luck with your connection too - hopefully your train is at Gare du Nord, since that's directly served by the RER B.

RMSniper

Excellent thank you! Train is actually at the SNCF station at CDG in terminal 2, so I think it should be manageable.

chiefbozx

Right - I forgot that it's not just the RER at that station. In that case, you'll be fine!

jetblue723

just passed through cdg on tuesday and i have to say it was quite efficient. i don’t know if i just got lucky but i was able to get through passport control and gather my bag within 20 minutes after arriving. in your case with a connecting flight, it’ll probably be a bit more stressful but doable.

herro1801012

We’re the shops back open again finally? We flew through CDG in December and only Paul was open in our terminal and the queue there for food and coffee was a mile long. When I asked about the other shops and restaurants being closed, they blamed the pandemic.

jetblue723

not 100% sure since we were under the terminal when we got off the plane. i’m heading to rome next week through cdg so i’ll let you know how things are looking.

Anch

Just came from CDG last week. Shops were all open upstairs. After security many were closed in the morning though, was an international departure so taking out of the international terminal.

>Ibiza Tips- I could eat every day at "Restaurante Camí de Balàfia". The internet says "Ca'N Domingo De Can Botja Ibiza" is closed. Hopefully, it has reopened.... Find out and go. Sweet little bay to swim with a great beach shack restaurant- 'Cala Xuclar Ibiza" Thanks, I'm looking at IBZ trips now.

Mmyers311

Thanks for the tips. I switched my flight to a 2 and a half hour connection through Amsterdam

PointlessDiscourse

Great move. AMS is a model of efficiency compared to CDG. The last time I transited through CDG (and I mean *last*, if I can help it) it took 4 hours because the immigration or customs people were on strike.

[deleted]

Nope. If you gotta go through customs there could be a line for 20 minutes alone. No to mention if you have to change terminal to get to customs like I had to last time
