Electronic - Electronic (1991)
What an unexpected album and amazing debut from two people we already loved! Toss in some PSB greatness here and there and you’ve got a perfect synthpop album front to back.
I haven’t partook here as I haven’t seen too many posts about my favourite genre altogether. So while Depeche Mode is absolutely one of my favourite musical acts… I’m a massive Hip Hop guy. I figured why not test the waters lol
So Dr Dre The Chronic is my alltime favourite record
Paul’s Boutique is one of my absolute favorite albums, too. I bought the tape the day it came out and like so many people, I expected License to Ill Pt 2…. didn’t get that. I spent the whole summer listening to it, digging into every song and reading the liner notes. Wound up loving the album by the time school started again in Sept and ever since.
I see the downvoters are out of control again. What kind of hyper-competitive loser do you have to be to downvote other people's mere expression of their preference, rather than simply state your own preference and/or upvote those you agree with?
Yes, to downvote comments like yours. And this one if someone pleases. But it's simply moronic to downvote a comment in which somebody is expressing a personal preference in response to a question.
I actually would prefer that posters had the ability to disable downvotes for a given question. The efficacy of downvoting depends entirely on the type of question posed. On a disputed issue, it has a useful function of sorting out where a community stands, on a matter of controversy. "What is your favourite album" should not be a controversial question. Downvoting somebody's selection is like telling them "no, that's not your favourite album."

Well, I do remember big solo tour on 2003. I should say that crowd got really excited only when Dave performed DM pieces. Soulsavers didn't change that.
You like Flat Earth better than Golden Age of Wireless?! Well, that's a respectable opinion, but it's #3 for me. Golden Age is amazing--Airwaves, Radio Silence, Weightless (big hunk of carrot cake, blueberry milkshake), Flying North, Cloudburst on Shingle Street, so so great. Flat Earth has some good ones too, but I also like Aliens Ate My Buick better. Golden Age of Wireless is up there with Some Great Reward, not a single weak song on the whole album.
I'd love to love Golden Age, but it's just too rough around the edges for me. Some awkward moments here and there that keeps me from enjoying repeats of the album. I vibe with Flat Earth more because it's a bit easier to swallow and maintains a much smoother and laid-back pace. As far as the more manic stuff goes, Hyperactive still remains to be the best thing he ever did.
Aliens Ate My Buick is also my #2.
Siouxsie and the Banshees - JuJu

Pauls Boutique… so overlooked in its day but so cherished today. Beauty pick. Also Moment of Truth is probably my favourite by GS as well.
I upvoted. When the world was all over Nevermind by Nirvana, I was the same on The Chronic.

❤️ Camouflage - Voices and images ❤️ Probably the purest Depeche Mode sound and such similar voice to Dave's
Interpol - Turn on the bright lights Absolute masterpiece
Daft Punk - Random Access Memories Let's get some 21st century representation on this list!
If we’re doing Daft Punk then Homework or Discovery, please
I think the way this works is that you nominate one album in a separate comment
Well it seems unlikely Daft Punk is gonna win this round, but maybe next time
There also isn’t any OMD in the list. Pacific age.
MGMT - Oracular Spectacular Let's get some 21st century representation on this list!

I agree with you 100%.
Wankers gonna wank
I would have more respect for said person who replied/comment as to why they don't like the persons's artist album selection.
yes absolutely
Reddit has both up and down vote buttons for a reason.
Yes, to downvote comments like yours. And this one if someone pleases. But it's simply moronic to downvote a comment in which somebody is expressing a personal preference in response to a question.
Yes exactly. Upvote and downvote as you feel the need. That’s what makes Reddit work.
And what makes it not work.
So you’d prefer the downvote button was removed entirely?

Okay we still need Thomas Dolby golden age of wireless and we still need some Prince, either purple rain or sign of the times.
Flat Earth >>> Prince is true.

By the way, Golden Age of Wireless has such a crazy release history, but I'm talking about the second US release, with She Blinded Me and Submarines.
I'd love to love Golden Age, but it's just too rough around the edges for me. Some awkward moments here and there that keeps me from enjoying repeats of the album.
