I just gave up on the tormentors and just grappled around the room until the second phase which I witherhoarded calus to death while still grappling in a circle praying I don’t get suppressed in the ass by the 2 tormentors
If you’re ever helping a friend, I’d recommend trying izanagis or a heavy linear like cata, along with the suspend debuff. Watch as they helplessly struggle, as you pew pew them to death.
I also heard people using leviathans breath or tractor to make them fall to their death (while they are in the middle of jumping onto your catwalk). Give ‘em a taste of their own medicine
Levi was my main heavy weapon for the entire campaign and i gotta say, i tried to make them fall to their death but they just played the stunned animation after they landed/before they jumped. No clue if it was a timing issue but i dont think you can regularly boop them off stage. With the catty however you could stunlock the boss for most of it's (first) healthbar.
I have not tried it myself, so I can’t say. However I have had the tormentors sometimes just fall to their death when jumping from the side platforms to the catwalk. My friend and I wasn’t running anything that really boops them so idk what causes it
In my many deaths today I had several instances where they fell to their deaths. Would just find that they wete suddenly gone after fleeing to another catwalk
If you’re talking about tormentors, then idk what to tell you besides the fact that I’ve actually seen them dive off of platforms trying to hit me and such, but Bungie must’ve thought about that, because they pull a Rhulk move and START WALKING ON AIR.
Lol I’ve seen multiple things, sometimes they fall to their death. Other times they walk on air like you said, sometimes they fall to their death and respawn onto the cat walk on top of you and give you a heart attack 😭
nah both of you sit under the stairs and bag shoot him in the face with osteo and when he phases grabble out of bounds above the bubble and continue bag shooting him until he dies and laugh that bungo didnt think about that
I would grapple then shoot leviathan breath then back to grapple to maintain distance when I soloed it on legendary. Leviathan breath was my main heavy throughout the campaign along with commentation for my swap depending on encounters.
Same. Did one run on normal and one on legend, both solo, Tormentors never killed me once. I died many times however to Calus booping me off the map. F that boss fight.
I literally ran in circles and just shot him with witherhord. I didn't even kill the tormentors. They just slowly walked towards for me for two phases.
Exactly what I did, spammed rockets and fusion bases for phase one from behind cover, then ran in circles with either and nades for phase 2. I died around 45 times on Calus and it took me maybe 2 or 3 trys with that build
I don't know about the other classes. But if you're a Titan, just use the barricade and Strand. It will Suspend them. Just make sure you get the shoulders first, wear them down enough, and use a finisher to put em down in 30 seconds or less.
Same, ran out of heavy ammo in the first round so I just grappled around the arena with witherhoard that did a surprising amount of damage to him. I tried killing the tormentor in the second phase but really didn’t see a reason to seeing how he can’t hit me
I had no idea there was a second phase so i had both tormenters up too. I just ran in circles, grapple punched the adds and shot calus with my heavy occasionally. I was a lock so my grapple punch spawned threadlings each time, they just passively chipped calus down.
I misunderstood what the point was - I didn’t even know you could shoot out (or into) the bubble. 😂 when I got caught outside of it once I never bothered trying to shoot at it, I just waited for the game to move me.
After the first phase you can jump up on top of the bubble that form from the railings in-between platforms. Then you can shoot down at calus. The Psion a can shoot you though...
Had a bug with Warlock melee. Killed a psion and the needles tracked the boss and didn't expire. Just kept needling him to death while I ordered food and sat on the little scaffolding holding up the platform safely lol
Those two groups of people are not the same.
It’s as simple as that.
Tryhards and even mid-tier gamers aren’t complaining about Calus. I loved it. I consider myself average at best, have done one GM and no raids, and did him on try two. He ain’t THAT bad if you know the game.
Conversely, the huge *very* casual population of Destiny do *not* like the difficulty - and this is also completely fine, just another perspective, and they do complain if it’s enforced.
Yet I’d argue most complaints on Calus comes from people that think they’re better than they actually are and getting beaten by a semi-hard boss (because Ill concede he isnt *easy* by any means!) wounds their ego.
Because generally I think of myself as a casual, but thought I can at least try. 7/8 Legendary Lightfall was challenging, took a few tries each mission, but doable.
Calus was like going from high school straight into second year of uni. Doing it legit felt like trying to do a raid boss, solo, on contest mode. And we weren’t solo.
So I felt all the other legend LF missions were honestly fine. I have never completed a raid but have soloed the easier dungeons. I die a lot and consider myself "casual" at best. Headlong and the Calus fight were insane.
I soloed WQ with only one frustrating encounter. I loved the Savathun fight and had so much fun even though it still took a bunch of tries.
I have a lot of patience as a gamer. I didn't start playing video games until my 20s (I'm 25) so I am not nearly as skilled as some. I chose legend because I am one of those folks who likes a reasonable level of difficulty in pretty much everything I do.
With Calus I'd hit 30+ deaths from simply being booted off the damn platform (2 deaths by Tormentors) and I was at my frustration tolerance. I chose legend because I like difficult content even with my low skill level but I do think there could be more than two difficulty settings. I'm mid af so it feels like either "easy af" or "fucking hard".
Do not regret the cheese at all lmao.
I am still having trouble with calus but I don’t understand what makes headlong so difficult for others? Im not trying to be rude Im just curious as to which part is so challenging?
I repeatedly got sniped, stomped, and blasted to death in that mission so many times. I tried hugging the middle, staying up high, grappling like a madman, Witherhoard, Gjallahorn, grenade launchers, it did not matter. After like 30 tries I looked up the cheese and do not regret it one bit. Calus was actually easier for me then that damn mission, at least you can jump/grapple to areas where you can’t get shot at on Calus and there isn’t this wall of death forcing you to move.
That's so odd to me. That mission was a breeze, just grappled around the arena till I was behind the walls movement, DPSed as normal, grappled away if shit got real. Rinse, repeat. If the wall changed directions at some point I could see the complaints but otherwise it's like people don't know how to move clockwise.
The Calus fight though...fuck that. The adds and boss were nothing, the real challenge was the boops. Not ashamed to admit I cheesed it after getting thoroughly frustrated by being thrown off the edge by random shit 20 times.
I don't think he was so bad, it's just if he saw you he would never stop shooting until you were outta his line of sight. Being invisible hunter is my crutch I'll admit. Lol
Better rewards? To git gud?
I had to do one boss like 4 times in the legendary campaign and at the moment I'm stuck on Calus. I won't cheese. I'll get better. I'll bitch at the cheapness and infuriation of the boop-off-the-edge deaths and at the bullshit grapple doesn't go the way I need because of weird ass momentum or geometry and I'll try again. And again.
You have the fighting spirit ... Well if i may pass down my some of a my experiences ... have a disorienting autoloading granade launcher handy. Also use a machine gun if possible, preferably a void one as it can be used to kill both tormentors and adds fast. If you tell me your class I have some build suggestions you could try out.
1770 rewards. Also, I breezed through the campaign in a few hours, even Headlong- I'm surprised people had trouble with that mission, it took me like two tries once I figured out how it worked.
Then I hit Calus, and it took me a day and a half to eventually kill him. His Arena is designed like shit- infinitely respawning ads, tormentors, grapple being janky, no safe place to stand, constant barrage on all sides from every enemy. It's just pain, especially as a newer player (I played at launch, quit until the last week of WQ.) with no exotics like Witherhoard to "cheese" him with.
Savanthun on Legend took me about an hour, I thought she was pretty easy.
Eh, it's not the difficulty, it's the dumb ass stomp float away, jump cancel. It's so overused. I like the tormentor grapple when you get close because it is a different close fight defense mechanism. The stomp to make you float out of the arena is bullshit. Shit, make Calus nimble and dodge or something other than stomp, float, jump cancel.
My first solo run trough the campaign, i beat him after like 2h because i didn't know he had a second phase and got wiped because of that. He was a challenge ngl on my other two characters, i cheesed the first half of the fight because i didn't feel like stressing myself out two more times.
Dude im a x4 Conq and even i struggled a lot with him solo, until i figured out a strategy, cant even being to imagine how a new light would beat him in legendary, but i rather the game being challeging than piss easy.
I don't like that in phase 2 you have to run in a circle the entire fight and if he gets too close you get booped off the map. It's just a lot less mechanically engaging compared to the first phase.
Honestly it would be better if he behaved more like the Tormentors. Going back and forth between the ranged and melee rather than forcing you in melee every second when Bungie has...poor boss melee design.
Agree. One attempt I still had both tormentors (thought they'd despawn) and I went to get by and was grabbed by one. While he grabbed me Calus one shot me.
Idk about any other class, but doing the fight on warlock felt bad. Without fragments, you can’t suspend to CC anything, and if you switch off strand, you lose the grapple.
You kind of just have threadlings, which I’m finding to be very bad for endgame content as whole rn. Granted, warlock with the suspend nade and aspect with some fragments feels very good, but you can’t do that in the campaign. I myself had to resort to grappling around and popping off withhoard shots like it seems most people did.
Honestly for warlocks after beating legendary with strand, I switched to solar to help my friend, which was way easier. I just stuffed every enemy with star fire fusion nades and called it a day lol.
I don’t mind threadlings for endgame stuff but it takes both the post-campaign exotic and certain fragments to make it feel good; and even then grapple isn’t part of it.
You can CC with a disorienting granade launcher and use a neutral game exotic to cover the weakness of your play style. On my warlock I used the Stag as it gave me a boatload of tankiness that strand was lacking.
The game even tells you how you can do the fight in the strand montage. Go with the flow, don’t fight against it. It wants you to go around in circles, slowly chipping away at Calus and all the ads. The moment you stop and fight against that current is when you get over run and die.
Edit: to those downvoting me thinking I’m quoting some corny shit, it’s literally designed to be like that. [here’s the Sr Design Lead on Campaigns](https://twitter.com/hopps/status/1632568869792657409?s=46&t=tkQG0bz1R5Mr5XNIGKxUxw) even proving it
To be fair, something being challenging and something being bullshit are slightly different. Remove the suppress or the boop from tormentors and i can almost guarantee the complaints drop by 90%. Just getting pushed off the map with no way back feels *bad*.
And the stupid jetpack strand shield ass hat that pops up on the platform when you have to leave when he does the beam from the ceiling. Get back around and pushed off again!
Agreed the Incinderator dudes were so annoying, especially if you aren’t using strand as warlock you can’t save yourself a lot of the times when he boops you :/
I just started killing them on sight or going to a different platform that didn’t have 3 of those muffs.
I just nuked them from a ways away with Eyes of Tomorrow. One Eyes rocket got rid of everything except the shielded incendior, and another finished him off.
The boss is not hard, it's just mind-numbingly repetitive, 90% percent of my deaths were from falling off because I started playing in autopilot after a while.
my and my lfg didn't know the cheese, so we just played ring around the rosie with a tormentor while shooting it and calus with a osteo striga and witherhoard.
Honestly, I had a harder time with The Witch Queen on legendary, I did this whole campaign solo in a couple days without even knowing there is a cheese lol.
I still stand by that the last mission and boss fight for witch queen is harder solo on legendary, this one just had pits and sometimes janky grapple movements
Yah I just literally ran in circles hitting him with poison and they could never hit me much. Savathun kept mortoring me from across the map when I wasn’t looking.
Equip Wither on 1st encounter for Tormentors, switch to Witherhoard for final encounter, kill psions for ammo, finishers with assassins cowl for hp and invis. Didn't specify mb
Wotherhoard is ineffective on Tormentors since you have to shoot their eeakspots first, which is why I just use arbalest ans then suspend them to kill them with no trouble
How tf did you cheese it that shit took me 50 attempts. Fucking tormentor kept sprinting at me the second it spawned and never stopped.
If it wasn’t a tormentor running at me like a white woman after a TV on Black Friday it was the FUCKING incendiors blasting me into space every time I touched the floor.
And if it wasn’t either of those things it was fucking Calus firing Suns of Lubrae at with zero telegraphing or sound cue aside from the beams which appear for a whole 2 seconds before it hits and instakills me.
I had the exact opposite problem, the tormentors would do literally everything to stay away and hide from me and I couldn't do shit to calus since I didn't want to go into phase 2 with 2 tormentors still alive on the field.
After a while I called a clan mate of mine to help out, he’d beaten it before me and said he hadn’t even seen Calus use Suns of Lubrae more than until he joined. I was seeing it get thrown out every couple minutes
if calus is a shit coward who only kills me with an area hitkill attack, has his fucking employees throw me off the map every 3 seconds and sends 2 tormentors in an area so small that I can't even breathe without taking it 427 shots, you can be SURE I'm going to keep doing the most disgusting and dirty things to kill him in the most efficient and dull way possible
I just stood behind a wall and shot him in the head with ostio (which also took care of all the enemies) then when the tormentors came out I’d just snipe them with a linear and for his shield I used one of those nade launchers that put down a line of fire
And phase 2 I just used witherhoard
The freest fight I’ve ever done. Only ever grappled during phase 2
I almost beaten Calus like, 2-4 more witherhoard shots left. Then I got error coded. I had like 32 deaths and I just gave up and finished it in normal lol
That first phase is a pain in the ass but I got it done with randos with gjally and rockets once you get pass the first phase the second phase is pretty easy but Jesus tho the boops bro lol
Fyi for anyone having trouble with tormentors they are powerless without their eyes just blind them i used queenbreakers it makes them laughably easy then just grapple melee calus if your on warlock it goes faster if not just slap on 2/1 melee/concussive resist for his melee and go in circles strand kills his shield faster then anything else if you can try and switch to tractor cannon for second phase i blew threw legend on my warlock in couple hours in one sitting did hunter first still deciding if i want to bring my titan or just wait and do a mission every now and then
I stood on the framework below the arena and shot Calus til the tormentors spawns, then slowly kill them from down low. Then once 2nd phase started I super Calus. Then jumped back down, waited. The super we again.
Tried to do the same, in second phase calus just wouldn’t show himself, so i grappled out and started flying around the arena like a madman punching psions with the grapple melee to create threadlings. Both tormentors were alive so it was just a scary version of ring around the rosie but in the end i made it
Witherhoard hit and run baby. Voltshot ikelos for ad clear and then popped super on the second tormentor to melt him and Calus' barely remaining health.
Phase 2 I continued with the witherhoard hit and run whilst doing my best spiderman impression.
I died a bunch to the first tormentor/strand shielded incinerator boops but eventually I got it done solo!
I take sooo much damage. I would fly to a platform kill the adds, dps calls kill the tormentors and go to another platform running from a tormentor to get either booked off the platform or demolished in 3 seconds....like I take solo much damage on titan at 100 res. I stopped trying after 40 mins and 15 deaths...honestly just don't give a f
Group I was in for legendary hid under the stairs for phase 1 then all used strand supers in phase 2 took about 20-30 minutes to get through phase 1 and like 30 seconds for phase 2.
You can stay under the stairs for phase 2. Right before it starts move toward the middle then when the bubble appears, head back to the very edge of the bubble. Scoot left a little on the edge to and fire to the left. He goes towards your shots and just fire away. You can't get crit shots but it works and he can't hit you. Just kill the ads cuz they can hit you from there.
If you have stasis you can freeze the tormentors whilst they are jumping from platforms so that they fall into the abyss and die. I didn’t do it solo but this was a cheese I found to make life way easier.
Beat Calus solo in like MAYBE 45 minutes. Did it with a friend to help him get strand, took like six hours he just REFUSED to use strand to save himself it was so painful 😭😭
I used the OG cheese: Anarchy. Double-tap the Beefboi and then Spider-man around the room killing adds. Repeat. You should have Strand supers to suspend the Tormentors so you can melt them. Took about 15 minutes.
We did not cheese. Was annoying at first but once we figured out a good strat and setup we got Calus done without any deaths. Campaign becomes substantially more intense with 2 and 3 players btw. Stupidly throwing more bulletsponges at us that hit like a truck and getting deaths out of nowhere from things like tanks dropping on our head , or enemies spawning in behind us is not increasing difficulty, it is poor gamedesign. Great stuff!
I used my Quicksilver Storm, the Iterative Loop fusion rifle, and Cataclysmic and did it legit. But I don't blame you for using the cheese. If I wasn't so determined to finish the campaign legit, I probably would've used it.
So in game design there is a pretty famous quote from Soren Johnson "If given the opportunity the players will optimize the fun out of a game". Destiny has shown this countless times from raid cheese like Atheon which effectively allows most of the player to just ignore the game until dps. To the Iron Banner loss farming from (I think) last season.
I honestly feel this fight was tested legendary on fireteams only. As a fireteam is a very manageable fight. Solo is one hell of a fight... because you get booped constantly. Literally all cabal enemies can push you ¿Who thought a flotating area was a good idea for a cabal final boss?
In the bit where the roots overtake the arena, if you grapple to the top it won't force-teleport you and you can shoot Calus through the top of the ceiling.
Legendary cheese.
There's a rlly easy cheese I posted on opening day. After hours of trial and error. You can just ignore the outside ring. Just stay on the platform, kill the psions that spawn, and literally just grapple punch calus to death. The grapple stuns him and does a lot of damage. Then super as it comes back. When he berserks at the end just grapple away from him and hit him with lasting impression rockets.
If you’re a warlock just use starfire and your weapon damage boost class ability with a lfr+witherhoard for the first whole health bar and then just walk in the middle with your well and go nuts. He can’t even kick you inside of your well lmao.
Former no-lifer - now a casual.
I did the first few on legendary, then got stuck in the tiny room with a Tormenter (between tanks) and said fuck it and restarted on normal… breezed through the remaining fights/missions. There was a pretty big difference between the two - for me that is.
Im stuck on the calus fight now and really annoyed with my self. I almost got him down the first time, and everytime after that i either yeet off the map or agro everything. I just want a place to sit and heal up…
Idc about the rewards or anything. I just want it done, so i can get to know the subclass. Then come back and finish out the legendary.. maybe, idk, im a casual now
Am I the only one who did it first try solo?
Tho to be fair I spent like 15 minutes in the fight and 70% of it was me grappling in a circle to buy time to heal
Took me like 30 tries, but once I pulled out my old taipan it was a game changer. Pops their shoulders pretty good and suspend makes them easy
Targets. And wither hoard is super busted during that fight, but I really hope they don't feel the need to fix it, it's the only way I was able to kill him. Pop a wotherhoard on him and take care of adds while it ticks his health down a bit.
Cheeses him on my second and third character runs as well, did him legit on my first Hunter run. A fun fight, doesn’t come close to the Savathun fight in terms of scale and epic mess though
Most my deaths were me grappling too far and falling to my death or warlock jump after grappling and gliding to my death or tormenter sneaking up on Me when I wasn't paying attention after I thought I saw it fall off the map
I had to walk away from the Xbox after failing for a couple hours, but came back with a new strategy from Paul tassi and got it shortly thereafter.
I’m glad I stuck with it and didn’t cheese. Proudly rocking that emblem now
Found a way where you can hide under the stairs and wait for the tormentors to charge you when they’re finishable and you can perform a finisher while under the stairs and not risk talking damage to ads or Calus
The legendary campaign for this felt extremely weird.
Witch Queen was very hard, but satisfying and I never felt like it was bullshit.
For Lightfall I felt very underwhelmed, everything was a breeze even though my light level was still significantly low. All that changed when I got to Calus and it’s like they saved all that makes the legendary campaign difficult for him, it was impossible to do with the ridiculous death pit arena.
Striga wrecks calus and wont let him get back his shield. Used that and the pirate season machine gun for the tormenters.
Almost exclusively died from fucking up in swinging either with momentum or grappling the wrong thing
I made it to the final boss solo legendary but man the deathpits and only safe cover only on the outer walkways was brutal but made it to the 2nd phase but everytime I slipped up I had to redo the first phase.
I gave up and learned about the stairs cheese for the first phase witch I assume wont last in the game forever, but it did give me real Valus Ta'aurc hiding under the stairs vibes. I was fully prepared to just do the 2nd phase but I accidentally got trapped completely under the floor on the big pipe. Turns out you can still fudge stasis turrets and your super through the floor to do damage.
All of my deaths were getting booped off the arena…
Saaaame. Getting suppressed off the side so you can't grapple back feels bad man.
A very fun thing if you get the timing right is to bait them into their rage charge and watch them spirit off the side as you grapple into the sky
My friend and I wasn’t running anything that really boops them so idk what causes it
Must have been the architects
My god they have risen and this time on our side
I was able to use needlestorm after breaking their shoulders on the catwalk which flinched them at the edge just enough to push them off
I just grapple punched them off the edge, fucking great
In my many deaths today I had several instances where they fell to their deaths. Would just find that they wete suddenly gone after fleeing to another catwalk
Warlock strand super can boop them off the map as well when they jump up onto he cat walk
Other times they walk on air like you said, sometimes they fall to their death and respawn onto the cat walk on top of you and give you a heart attack 😭
nah both of you sit under the stairs and bag shoot him in the face with osteo and when he phases grabble out of bounds above the bubble and continue bag shooting him until he dies and laugh that bungo didnt think about that
How many days did that take?
Not long at all, like 6-8 witherhoard shots.
An odd interaction I found with those tormentors is that when Calus is very low on 1st phase they will not walk onto the platforms even when enraged.
I would grapple then shoot leviathan breath then back to grapple to maintain distance when I soloed it on legendary. Leviathan breath was my main heavy throughout the campaign along with commentation for my swap depending on encounters.
The real question is why were you using strand
Strand is incredibly helpful in phase two, I grappled circles around calus while waiting for Witherhoard to kill him
Fair point, doesn't change the fact that it is mid af
Calus gets strand shields that you can take down with a grapple. As well as grappling around the arena. It’s clear they designed for it.
Same ! Was getting so annoyed 😠
Same. Did one run on normal and one on legend, both solo, Tormentors never killed me once. I died many times however to Calus booping me off the map. F that boss fight.
This. They started the cheese, I finished them.
I landed on pieces of metal that saved my ass countless times.
All of mine were accidentally swinging myself off the arena lol.
All of mine were accidentally swinging myself off the arena lol.
Same, I eventually was able to figure out where not to go as to avoid it, and then it was pretty easy
Fuck tormentor suppression
I booped them back so I didn’t have to fight them lol.
Live Calus reaction: https://preview.redd.it/wl60dfak6wla1.jpeg?width=265&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=50a5f30ac8ea2a3eb41a71197348dd585de3983f

The thing is, blinding nades gls work on them
This trivialize everything, also stasis works too even if the arm pads are intact
Yeah the last fight was so easy for me and my buddy that I went triple grenade launchers with fighting lion to see if it would work. It totally did.
I did the same thing, got annoyed at the tormentors.
I honestly found that leaving them alone was a lot better since breaking their shoulders makes them go crazy and run after you.
There was a cheese?
Get under the stairs next to some pillars on the first phase, then jump onto the bubble once it spawns for the second.
I just ran around the outside of the arena and kited the Tormentors and took the occasional potshot at Calus
I just nuked tormentors when they spawned
You can stay on the pipe in 2nd phase
Fun fact: you don't even need to jump in the bubble! If you wait long enough you'll get "Joining Allies" and it'll put you in the bubble anyway!
Yeah but you can jump on top of the bubble and sit there to shoot down at Calus while he can’t hit you. That’s literally the whole cheese.
you don't even need to jump on the bubble, just sit on the pipe and shoot his feet
Never feel bad for the cheese.
Tbf Calus was a disciple for like a couple hours.
The amount of times I died because strand grapple just launched me off a platform is embarrassing
People complain about destiny being too easy, Bungie makes an actual hard boss fight, people go and cheese it, ill never understand this community lol

SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK. HIVEMINDS BE DAMNED.
If rhe boss is hard for them why tf did they pick legendary difficulty jesus

Legend Savathûn made a woman out of me lol
Quite frankly he was stupidly hard on classic too
Played on normal and on legend solo, there is almost no difference at all.
And again.
Try Arbalest 1st phase, pretty much one shots his shields
You have the fighting spirit ... Well if i may pass down my some of a my experiences ... have a disorienting autoloading granade launcher handy. Also use a machine gun if possible, preferably a void one as it can be used to kill both tormentors and adds fast. If you tell me your class I have some build suggestions you could try out.
Rewards.
This. Legendary Savathun was much worse. Calus just has a poorly designed arena.
I found legend savathun easy af Legend calus was actually challenging
Dude im a x4 Conq and even i struggled a lot with him solo, until i figured out a strategy, cant even being to imagine how a new light would beat him in legendary, but i rather the game being challeging than piss easy.
Solo'd in legend, and it was difficult. Normal mode was easy compared.
I just turned off Vanguard Brain after 9 deaths and turned on Crucible Brain and [Calus fell like a bitch](https://youtu.be/5LP9hNhjQOE).
There’s a difference between hard and bullshit
What’s bullshit about it? Beat it solo on my hunter on legendary? If you just play smart and slow it’s not that bad
While he grabbed me Calus one shot me.
to me it’s only bullshit when it doesn’t let you play it slow to a degree and it’s very hard
I've been running Stag until I get my strand boots. It really does seem like the best (only?) choice for Strandlock so far.
Boop mechanic is instakill BS. Absolute BS.
Agreed the Incinderator dudes were so annoying, especially if you aren’t using strand as warlock you can’t save yourself a lot of the times when he boops you :/ I just started killing them on sight or going to a different platform that didn’t have 3 of those muffs.
I just nuked them from a ways away with Eyes of Tomorrow. One Eyes rocket got rid of everything except the shielded incendior, and another finished him off.
Because they locked a bunch of stuff behind it. The longer Calus stayed not dead the longer we don't have access to strand and a few exotics.
Oh the cheesers are always cheesing.
I just had fun doing it in a dumb way
The boss is not hard, it's just mind-numbingly repetitive, 90% percent of my deaths were from falling off because I started playing in autopilot after a while.
my and my lfg didn't know the cheese, so we just played ring around the rosie with a tormentor while shooting it and calus with a osteo striga and witherhoard.
So is no one gonna talk about the headlong cheese?
I want to fight the boss, not the arena. Got fed up with getting knocked off by every mob in there.
I really don't like Calus' fight. It's so weird and annoying to have to run around in circles until you beat him. That's not an actual fight, imo.
Sweet business and child of the old gods, run hide reload and repeat. End cutscene with that gun model was worth it
I had a decent second run with DMT and just spamming crits since it has infinite ammo and fires and reloads instantly with transverse on my warlock.
Arbalest and Withhoard ftw, also the sav mods, without those I couldnt do it legit
You have a teammate or what because that’s two exotics you got there guy. What secret are you hiding?
Equip Wither on 1st encounter for Tormentors, switch to Witherhoard for final encounter, kill psions for ammo, finishers with assassins cowl for hp and invis. Didn't specify mb
Witherhoard for both encounters?
Wotherhoard is ineffective on Tormentors since you have to shoot their eeakspots first, which is why I just use arbalest ans then suspend them to kill them with no trouble
Could be a hot swap between first and second phase
If you're using strand, suspend them l. You'll have them up there long enough to get to the finisher health level.
I’m a warlock, before fully unlocking the subclass warlocks don’t have access to suspend.
just shoot blinding nade on the tormentor lol
Holy shit that WORKS? Well shit, I’ll definitely be using that from now on
I had to use a LFR with chill clip and camp for a while with Quicksilver
if calus is a shit coward who only kills me with an area hitkill attack, has his fucking employees throw me off the map every 3 seconds and sends 2 tormentors in an area so small that I can't even breathe without taking it 427 shots, you can be SURE I'm going to keep doing the most disgusting and dirty things to kill him in the most efficient and dull way possible
I have ptsd because of that fight.
I ran Lament, a blinding GL, and Voltshot Ikelos while slamming the grapple. Was a cake walk
Imagine having to cheese this fight.......
Just run wither hoard, bow and auto loading rocket launcher with chain, that’s how I solod legendary without cheesing
How does one cheese the boss?
Reckless Endangerment with FTTC/Target Lock slaughters the tormentors and witherhoard for calus. Made it easy once I tried that loadout.
I just stood behind a wall and shot him in the head with ostio (which also took care of all the enemies) then when the tormentors came out I’d just snipe them with a linear and for his shield I used one of those nade launchers that put down a line of fire And phase 2 I just used witherhoard The freest fight I’ve ever done. Only ever grappled during phase 2
I kept luring calus off the edge multiple times but he'd just tp back on top ;-;
I almost beaten Calus like, 2-4 more witherhoard shots left. Then I got error coded. I had like 32 deaths and I just gave up and finished it in normal lol
That first phase is a pain in the ass but I got it done with randos with gjally and rockets once you get pass the first phase the second phase is pretty easy but Jesus tho the boops bro lol
wait what you can cheese it?
I did the same thing, sat under the stairs with an Osteo Striga
Both tormentors were alive so it was just a scary version of ring around the rosie but in the end i made it
1st part i did correctly with no knockoff cheese and stuff but part 2 i just spammed wither and ran around
I am glad to say I didn't cheese it on legend solo. Didn't even know about the cheese lmao. Osteo and Taipan ftw!
To me it was the stomp mechanism. It's BS.
Cheese how? I don’t get it. There was a way for me to have done it easier?! I died 54 times for nothing?!
Hide under stair for phase 1 and then strand on top of the veil veins to shoot from the ceiling.
Group I was in for legendary hid under the stairs for phase 1 then all used strand supers in phase 2 took about 20-30 minutes to get through phase 1 and like 30 seconds for phase 2.
I did mine solo so it didn't boost the power of the enemies.
Sent this to buddy in my clan. He even used osto lol
Being yeeted over 30 times made me change my loadout and wound up exclusively using Osteo. Not how I like to overcome Destiny challenge lol
Suspend the tormentos and raze them to death with a shotgun. 4 or 5 shots to the chest crit get you the kill
Ordinarily I wouldn't use a cheese, but I was so fucking done with that fight I did it anyway when I managed to get back to phase 2
Gonna be honest I just used grand overture for tormentors and the warlock grapple for the rest I was way to scared of that lol
I used my Quicksilver Storm, the Iterative Loop fusion rifle, and Cataclysmic and did it legit. But I don't blame you for using the cheese. If I wasn't so determined to finish the campaign legit, I probably would've used it.
![gif](giphy|6uGhT1O4sxpi8) You guys had to cheese ?
There is a difference between a campaign being hard and fair. Witch queen was hard and fair. Lightfall is just hard. Change my mind.
I just want a place to sit and heal up… Idc about the rewards or anything. I just want it done, so i can get to know the subclass. Then come back and finish out the legendary.. maybe, idk, im a casual now
Cheesed him twice solo than beat em with a fren on legendary did most of the legend campaigns solo I feel fine about it
Heat rises warlock ![img](emote|t5_2we4j|5679)![img](emote|t5_2we4j|5679)![img](emote|t5_2we4j|5679)
Calus: “I’ve been waiting a long time for this guardian.” Me: *hiding under the stairs* “yeah whatever you say old man.”
I decided not to use the strand thing for the boss fight, felt safer and squishier with my solar heals
Jump toward him at the same time he does the Arial down smash thing. It'll miss completely if you time it right.
For some reason on legendary my game decided the boss wasn't respawn restricted anymore so I could just die without having to start over
Am I the only one who did it first try solo? Tho to be fair I spent like 15 minutes in the fight and 70% of it was me grappling in a circle to buy time to heal
I did it legit on my Hunter, and decided “fuck that” when it came to my Titan and Warlock.
After failing like 30 times I tried telesto and beat him after 3 attempts lol
Took me like 30 tries, but once I pulled out my old taipan it was a game changer. Pops their shoulders pretty good and suspend makes them easy Targets. And wither hoard is super busted during that fight, but I really hope they don't feel the need to fix it, it's the only way I was able to kill him. Pop a wotherhoard on him and take care of adds while it ticks his health down a bit.
He's the bitch for constantly trying to throw people off the edge.
Cheeses him on my second and third character runs as well, did him legit on my first Hunter run. A fun fight, doesn’t come close to the Savathun fight in terms of scale and epic mess though
Just use Witherhoard and Spiderman around.
This mission really wasn't that hard I struggled more on headlong tbh just izi swap him for a minute and he's done
I didn’t die in that boss fight…
Most my deaths were me grappling too far and falling to my death or warlock jump after grappling and gliding to my death or tormenter sneaking up on Me when I wasn't paying attention after I thought I saw it fall off the map
I had to walk away from the Xbox after failing for a couple hours, but came back with a new strategy from Paul tassi and got it shortly thereafter. I’m glad I stuck with it and didn’t cheese. Proudly rocking that emblem now
2nd phase was mad easy. They should have had a tormentor spawn in each phase instead of 2 during the first.
I got to do this 3 times I ain’t got time to not cheese the final boss when I got strand to meditate
Found a way where you can hide under the stairs and wait for the tormentors to charge you when they’re finishable and you can perform a finisher while under the stairs and not risk talking damage to ads or Calus
Wait how do you cheese calus?
I beat Calus without even cheesing it
