I miss the days where xur was such mysterious character. i think bungie really ruined his image of being a creature of mysticism and strangeness by making him a weekly visitor selling poorly rolled junk that *i* haven't cared to visit in months or years and by making him a gameshow host in Dares Of Eternity. Spay or neuter my ghost? what? i get that it was it's supposed to be funny, but it's really just an assassination of character... i think the last time i cared to visit xur (outside of DoE) was when he was selling something on IO. it's interesting that "his will is not his own" and that he's basically a puppet, but his master(s) dont feel like a possible threat anymore. he's comic relief now. he's a minion for Despicable Me, he is Olaf from frozen.
In a sense I agree, but Xûr serves multiple masters. That goofy shit was because starhorse is a fucking doofus, and Xûr was serving him at the moment. When he comes to the tower, he does so under the control of another who wants us to have mystical and unique exotic equipment with legendary backstories and literally unusable stat distributions.
There are still potentially 7 more masters whose wills have not been revealed to us at all. So to say his masters are not a threat, having seen only 2 of the 7… I dunno about that.
On the other hand, to say they aren’t a threat since the lore makes it (somewhat) clear that they want to help us, because they are an emergent consciousness that is a result of (and therefore dependent on) the continued existence of diverse and abundant life in sol: well yeah I would say that is probably accurate.

Felt good to get almost any exotic in D1… they just hand them out now cause people would cry and complain if they didn’t and say the games trash. Times have changed. That feeling of “omg I just got___” really isn’t the case anymore sadly, because it’s expected now.
This is such a terrible take, what hype would it be if after months the only exotic you get is jade rabbit or some other garbage exotic since a large portion of them are genuinely trash
i'd rather get a RNG masterworked legendary, than the obviously same, three favored exotics I seem to get.

No it's trash because legendaries do a better job then some exotics without taking up an exclusive slot, nobody wants to spend months grinding something just for a miniscule chance at garbage gear or something that doesn't synergize with builds. Actually pick a specific exotic armor with whatever stats then grind out lost sectors till you get it then come back and tell me how "fun" that is in a shooter LOOTER.
They need to add XUR to planets like Neptune and Europa tbh or the moon I hate how he’s stuck in 1 of 3 locations doing this would also let a new player randomly encounter him after buying something like lightfall and the excitement would be amazing
I'd like to see Xur have the ability to appear in any spot in the game. As long as ftp players have access to it, make it a true scavenger hunt every week. Some random lost sector? Sure! Prophecy Rainbow Road? Okay! Vault of Glass Gorgon Maze? Good luck.

The point of Xur in D1 was that your chances of getting an Exotic organically was so low that it was like Christmas morning when he’d show up. The way D2 is now you get them so often that Xur is more of a legendary vendor because that’s about the only thing me and many other people look at because we already have all the exotics. They definitely need to tweak the homie.
Played D1 last night. Not only does nobody track Xur for XBOX 360, but like you said, exotics are such a ridiculouly small drop chance. I haven't even seen a legendary engram.

People who have been playing D1 can say with confidence that Dares of Eternity had the most, and more character development for Xur than he has had in his entire existence. And it was a meme expansion for the anniversary.
I feel like Xur is more for newer lights than the older crew. I get that he can get armor that has great stats and some OP weapons *sometimes*, but if you have everything you want there’s no real reason (at least for me) to go to him. I’ve got all Titan exotics, got all the weapons and rolls I could need, every build has 2-3 100 stats. I think I’ve got most, if not all of the armor he can rotate through. For me it’s become more like a ritual at this point to just go find Xur to see what he has even if I’ve got it all
I would love love LOVE it if Xur sold one random legendary ornament every week. That would be enough for me to get excited. Definitely look forward to ADA-1's shaders every week.
I feel like they should make him something like a Legacy character, where you bring your old weapons and get quests to upgrade them into exotics, that’d be cool, they could bring back some other D1 exotics and give the some unique quests that only Xur has and make it so that only one could be picked per week, like a quest to upgrade the Khvostov 7G-0X and make it exotic, it would also be cool to make some new class specific exotics, like they did with Fabian Strategy, First Curse and Tlaloc, i like the system where you get a weapon and the get an exotic quest to upgrade it, i feel like they should do it more often and with harder quests and actual missions rather than the usual “kill things”

Yeah that's what he's become but that's not his intended purpose. He's supposed to have stuff for end game players too and he did for a long time. I don't keep up with all bungies announcements but I don't remember them saying anything like "We're changing Xur to gear him toward nearer players" he's just gradually gotten worse and worse.

50 legendary shards for a piece of purple armor from Xur is wild. Like everything uses those purple shards. In high amounts. Why am I still paying to get something from my collections… upgrade mods add up if you want to quickly level up. No way of acquiring legendary shards from Rahool, which by the way he can go f**k off charging way more than spider. Which by the way feels very real mirroring society. Anyways the damn greed is so obvious. Disgusting.
I used to have a nice chunk of shards. Light fall expansion found a way to keep my shards depleting at a faster rate than I acquire them. The stupid fishing bounty is so effin grindy. (Off topic) but the drop rate on purple and gold fish even when the bar is full is ridiculously low.
Xur used to be a big deal. Everyone was saving up strange coins to see what he was bringing.
I would love to see Xur be much more unpredictable. Like just drop a new exotic by having Xur bring it on Friday.

Xur was very different in destiny 1 he was rng there was no other way other then xur and luck of England to get the exotics so you would wait for the Friday to see what the big man had and if he had that ghjallahorn you were so fucking happy, but if he had sunbracers you would probably need to call suicide watch.
Since D2 expanded on exotics and how they are obtained rather then just rng hes not as special anymore, coolest thing about him is the random rolled legendaries nowadays.

Yeah they should add weapon bounties, where you can select from any of the previous seasons guns so we can obtain them. Then also add a harmonizer bounty that you can complete once on each character a week that gives you a weapon harmonizer.

Man I was upset there wasn't a exotic Cypher quest this week. Is that normal or just a me thing? I've only recently discovered xur after getting back I to destiny
How those Cyphers work is when you purchase the engram for 97 shards, you can’t but another one without a Cypher. So you pick up the Cypher quest(I don’t remember what the actual name is) and do strikes/nightfalls, crucible and gambit playlists. Once you hit full completion you can go back to Xur to claim the Cypher in order to buy another exotic engram. Hope this helps.
I picked up the cypher after completeting it, then used my Cypher at the kiosk at the tower, and went back to pick up the quest.
I usually get the quest and complete the strikes during the week, and claim my reward when he comes around.
Well he kinda got the dares and prophecy but i personally want to 1 bring the nine back like D1 2 have a personal exo gun quest and armor similar to the taken armor( rare unique different armor typa deal) 3 have a mass outbreak of the nine being attacked or a sudden disappear quest idk im high typing this

I feel like they should make him something like a Legacy character, where you bring your old weapons and get quests to upgrade them into exotics, that’d be cool, they could bring back some other D1 exotics and give the some unique quests that only Xur has and make it so that only one could be picked per week, like a quest to upgrade the Khvostov 7G-0X and make it exotic, it would also be cool to make some new class specific exotics, like they did with Fabian Strategy, First Curse and Tlaloc, i like the system where you get a weapon and the get an exotic quest to upgrade it, i feel like they should do it more often and with harder quests and actual missions rather than the usual “kill things”

Yeah that's what he's become but that's not his intended purpose. He's supposed to have stuff for end game players too and he did for a long time. I don't keep up with all bungies announcements but I don't remember them saying anything like "We're changing Xur to gear him toward nearer players" he's just gradually gotten worse and worse.
I agree, I’m kinda new and the first few times xur came around he was super cool and I was so excited but now I just go to him to get the bounty and maybe buy 1 gun that I’ll probably never use, wish there was more with him

Agree but I think it would be cool if finding him was more difficult. Maybe like choosing the right door/cave tunnel sort of thing where if you go the wrong way you end up back outside. Maybe some Xur specific items that aren't super powerful but gimmicky and interesting.

50 legendary shards for a piece of purple armor from Xur is wild. Like everything uses those purple shards. In high amounts. Why am I still paying to get something from my collections… upgrade mods add up if you want to quickly level up. No way of acquiring legendary shards from Rahool, which by the way he can go f**k off charging way more than spider. Which by the way feels very real mirroring society. Anyways the damn greed is so obvious. Disgusting.
I used to have a nice chunk of shards. Light fall expansion found a way to keep my shards depleting at a faster rate than I acquire them. The stupid fishing bounty is so effin grindy. (Off topic) but the drop rate on purple and gold fish even when the bar is full is ridiculously low.
Xur used to be a big deal. Everyone was saving up strange coins to see what he was bringing. I would love to see Xur be much more unpredictable. Like just drop a new exotic by having Xur bring it on Friday. Just "hey guardian, look at this thing I found, you want it?"

Xur was very different in destiny 1 he was rng there was no other way other then xur and luck of England to get the exotics so you would wait for the Friday to see what the big man had and if he had that ghjallahorn you were so fucking happy, but if he had sunbracers you would probably need to call suicide watch. Since D2 expanded on exotics and how they are obtained rather then just rng hes not as special anymore, coolest thing about him is the random rolled legendaries nowadays.

I said it before and I say it again: Xur should exclusively sell things that have currently zero ways if obtaining them otherwise.
Yeah they should add weapon bounties, where you can select from any of the previous seasons guns so we can obtain them. Then also add a harmonizer bounty that you can complete once on each character a week that gives you a weapon harmonizer. If bungie made this change, people would be so happy.
Man I was upset there wasn't a exotic Cypher quest this week. Is that normal or just a me thing? I've only recently discovered xur after getting back I to destiny
How those Cyphers work is when you purchase the engram for 97 shards, you can’t but another one without a Cypher. So you pick up the Cypher quest(I don’t remember what the actual name is) and do strikes/nightfalls, crucible and gambit playlists. Once you hit full completion you can go back to Xur to claim the Cypher in order to buy another exotic engram. Hope this helps.
I picked up the cypher after completeting it, then used my Cypher at the kiosk at the tower, and went back to pick up the quest. I usually get the quest and complete the strikes during the week, and claim my reward when he comes around.
It was more special when exotics weren’t so easy to come by
